that was strange that Martha would not tell Clark she was attending the dinner. Since when does she hide things from clark?

Where was Lionel?

Everyone knew about the engagement dinner but Clark

Well, seeing as how he's still technically in love with Lana, I'm guessing she didn't want to add fuel to the fodder?

Yeah, I'm starting to really not like martha lately, between this and the point clark brought up, I feel she's being infected by the luthor darkness

Yeah, I didn't know why she was at the dinner either. Lionel wasn't there, she and Jon Kent ran against Lex in the election, she hasn't really talked to Lana lately, and typically when your son breaks up a girl you lose contact with her.

That's why Clark went off the deep end on his own mother first, and Martha herself admitted there's truth in what he had said about her. Even the mother of the future Superman needs to have a reality check once in a while.

What Kal told Martha was exactly the truth. She deserved it!

I'm pretty sure Lana asked Martha not to tell Clark, and Martha couldn't betray the only daughter she ever knew. If Lana wished Martha not to tell Clark, she knew it was none of her business to tell Clark.

Lana is the only daughter she ever knew? No offense, but that one I would never be able to wrap my brain around. Martha is much closer to Chloe and Lois compared to Lana. If anything, these girls are the ones she really considered as her daughters, not Lana.

Sine the death of JK, that family is going downhill faster than a greased pig on a teflon slide covered with lard.

Chloe is the closest person in the family to Martha, because one, she knows Clarks secret, in the episode where Martha got mugged, she said it's nice having Chloe around etc, and the fact Clark and Chloe are closer than normal best friends, it takes a really good friendship to be able to stand something like that, also, when Pete knew, the Kents treated him like family, so it would be the same for Chloe.

As for Lois, shes' basically family, "You know you can stay here anytime Lois, your practically family" the only difference between her and Chloe is that Chloe knows about Clark.

if u see the deleted scenes there is one where martha goes to the mansion to give lana her gift but she tells lex she cant say. then lana walks in and says she's so thankful for her being there and that shell go set a place for her at the table. kinda forced into it imo. and clark new about it just wasnt invited
