I wonder if this has anything to do with Lex's "POWER" at the beginning of the season.
then all his suspicions would be confirmed!

I don't think Lana would hand it over to Lex. You saw her in the loft. She wasn't minding it one bit lip locking with Clark. She still wants him!!!

I wonder how she will spill the beans to Clark that she knows or if shell tell him at all that she knows. I for one smiled and am really happy that Lana will finally know. Granted, she had to find out for herself but i am still happy and am anxiously awaiting the rest of the season on pins and needles.. : )

The knife could be explained away. 'the fight was so fast, Lex hit the wall, a pick, a shovel, etc. with it.' Lana, you just didn't see what was happening, you were in shock. Clark had something in his shirt, pocket, made of metal. Something came between the two of them while they were struggling.... they were in a barn, it could be explained away, and Lex never questioned it. ......I also thought that Lana walk away from the barn and the knife was still lying there, when did she get the chance to pick up the knife?
she did not have any chance to go back and pick it up and wrap it up.

I'm pretty sure Lana is going to know clark's secret by the season finale.

I agree....I'm pretty sure the knife was on the ground in the barn....And there's no way she'd go back for it....
BUT HOW DID SHE GET THE KNIFE?
Unsolved mystery, right there!
And I have to be honest, when she took out the red silk, I thought it was going to be one of the stones from 4th season that they found in China. Mostly I thought that 'cause I watched my season 4 DVD last week haha.

also, couldn't she have just went to the barn and got the knife, or have someone get it for her? :p

Judging from next week's preview, it looks like Lana is very capable of doing her own digging. Hey, she might even still have one of the stones, you never know. Everyone underestimates Lana, but what if she's been on her own secret trail the whole time under everybody else's nose?

Lana learned a little about Clark, there's a lot more. Who knows what else she will learn and when? I wouldn't be suprised if this takes awhile, and I wouldn't be surprised if it all happens without Clark knowing that Lana knows. By the way, was that a knife or some type of screwdriver? I don't know farm tools. I also thought it was lying on the barn floor as Martha told Lana to leave with Lex. With all the commotion, it's a bit surprising that Lana would notice the bent knife/tool. Of course, Lana is going to keep it with her and take the chance of letting Lex find it. Incidentally, Clark is invulnerable, but tools do not automatically bend themselves when they hit him. Lana had to have really walloped him for it to bend like that. If you were to strenuosly hit a solid brick wall with a knife/tool, you would most likely hurt your hand.

when i saw the red silk and how big it was i thought it was a crystal for the fos, i was wondering how she got the knife also, you'd think that if she sent someone martha or kent would have seen them since they were up in the loft the next day

OK, I dont think its a knife, but more like a wrench of some sort. If its a knife, its very odd looking. I'm still trying to figure out how she got it in the first place. Last we saw, it was still in the barn.

In the Trespass trailer, it looked to me that Lana was looking at something in Lois's apartment.
What is she looking at? Info on Clark?

She is partners with Lex and co-owns/runs the Talon, remember? And she also lived there for a time.
If everyone and their dog can violate the Luthor mansion they sure as hell can get in the Lois and Chloe's apartment.

Reason for Clark:

How did the wood chisel (props to warriorrenegade) get so bent? It's not like Lex has Clark's strength. Usually they show metal shattering or bouncing off of Clark, not bending like that.
Another thing, how did Clark and Lana get from the mansion to the barn so quickly without Clark using Superspeed? Lana walked in heels? I don't think so. Lex would have found them on the road, not in the barn.

Maybe he's slightly more vulnerable when under Red Kryptonite because it affects his emotions? Maybe that's why it bent like it did?

It looked like a scoopula, those tools that you use to transfer solids (like powders, etc) in chemistry labs.

I doubt that. Mainly because Clark was in pain, which Lana would perceive to be the result of the scoopula/tool (since she did not see the real reason---kryptonite). So if someone would tell her that Lex missed or Clark had some metal under his shirt, she would ask, then why was he in pain.

You're all wrong. It's called a plot device. Something to move the "Clana knows that Clark has super DNA" plot forward.

The thing I don't get is...how would Lex be able to jab the chisel into clark and have it bend and twist? Wouldn't you also have to be incredibly strong to be able to put enough force into it to bend it?

Well, then I also think red-k was a plot device--big time in this episode (and in Unsafe). And as much as I liked Rush, it was a plot device in that episode as well, although it was more believable since Pete knew what it did to Clark and having an invincible alien save you while doing death-defying stunts was indeed the ultimate rush.
In Red & Exile, the red-k was natural and you can understand how he was exposed to it both times (accidentally in Red, and purposely due to his outcast feelings at the end of Exodus).

I thought it was lana with the chisel, but whoever it was, the chisel does not bend itself, and Clark did not bend it. Clark was functioning like a solid brick wall. So, whoever struck him with the chisel had to be swinging it very hard. I don't think a normal person could easily bend a wood chisel. Of course, it is Superman tradition to show things all bent after striking the Man of Steel, so you might as well skip the physics lesson.

I laughed when Lana unwrapped it.. she looked like she was counting something.. I guess that was to get the quivering lip effect or something but seriously rewatch it and think of her going: 2 + 2 equals 4 carry the 1 and the 2 and 3 and 4 and... I'm not kidding Tivo people, watch her lips. And ya.. they cut the scene when she snuck back to the farm and grabbed the chisel... that landed on the cutting room floor with the first take of the unwrapping scene where she did the alphabet instead of counting... :P
just playing folks.. I love me some Lana!

You guys are overreacting.
Lex attempted to stab clark but of course it didn't hurt him but Martha's timing with the kryptonite was perfect to keep Lex and Lana from suspecting anything.... but Lana saw the chisel....
So she obviously went back to the barn during a lapse/off screen. Not everything has to be shown on screen.

Same with the sword, and a lot of other implements thrown at him. Perhaps his skin gives off a not-so-equal and opposite reaction when hit?

A good sword would break and NOT bend.
A crow bar would bend.

ever see mythbusters? they tried to see if you can break a sword with a sword. They found out that the sword, when thrown with the speed of an expert swordsman, bends back and forth (a ninja sword like Lex had) then snaps. The one Lex had sure looked like it broke. Anything coming into contact with his skin seems to just spontaneously shatter.

No idea how she got the chisel other than the assumption that she made an off scene trip back to the barn.
The episode sets up the "Lana finding out about Clark" Arc and its about dam time. I also am curious about whether or not Chloe *agreed* to admit to Clark having a secret to Lana....
Lana "I'll stop questioning you about Clark's secret if you stop denying that he has one" or something along those lines.
I really hope that TPTB use a little past continuity to help Lana piece it all together. God knows she has been clubbed in the head with a gajillion clues.

Throwing a sword is NOT smacking it against an unyielding object.
Peat Moss

what I meant by throwing was swinging--sorry about that. also, on the show, when the mythbusters themselves tried swinging a sword to hit another sword (an unyeilding object), they just got jarred up the arm. I think it would have been funny if Lex swung the sword, Clark put his arm up, and the sword went "dong" as Lex's teeth chattered from the jar.

I think the bends in the chisel look like clark squeezed it, if it were bent from a stab, only the tip would be bent, since it is bent along the shaft, I am thinking it was from Clark's fingers grasping it.
I need to look closer at the image.

Well, normally it wouldn't have hurt him either, but Martha walked up with Kryptonite behind her back, which made Clark a little more vulnerable. Normally the tool would have shattered and Clark wouldn't have reacted to pain at all...but since there was Green K, the tool hurt him a little and only bent because Clark's body gave a little. That was how I took it anyway.

How did Lana get that ice pick thing? When she left it was on the floor, and all of a sudden the thing was wrapped and everything in her drawer. Did I miss a part or something or was that part a stretch?

I really thought that the chisel pierced him since Ma Kent was there with the green K. And I thought that was the way they would explain away Clark's powers. As in "see, if you use a chisel on him he bleeds", but they didn't and for that I commend them. I can't wait to see what happens.
On a funnier note when my wife saw Lana unwrapping the chisel she thought Lana was going to abort the baby :rotfl:
I had to calm her down by explaining to her that it was from the barn and that's why this seen was so important.

In the real world, Lana would be wondering why Lex is strong enough to crumple up the end of a steel chisel (or whatever it was) by jamming it into something hard. As far as Clark goes, he could say that his belt buckle or whatever took most of the force and it also slipped and jabbed him a bit in the gut which is why he went down in pain.

clark will have to explain to lana why it bent.
lex belives he stabbed clark. so any time soon if he sees clark he will wonder why he isnt hurt.
martha didnt open the krypto container till lex was swinging the chisel,we all know what happens to clark when exposed.
i do agree that the chisel shouldnt have bent...but no bend there would be no reason for lana to pick it up or go back for it.
