...all the "Clana" grousing after last night's episode.
Have ANY of you had a first TRUE love? I mean, damn! Even when it is as over as it can be, there's always a part of you that is more than willing to leap upon that list glimmer of hope of rekindling that spark. I've been broken up with my first "true love" for over 20 years and even though I have been married for 15, every now anad again I think about her. Would I leave my wife for her now? NO. But back when my wife and I were initially dating, I may well have taken another shot if I thought the opening was there.
I hate to tell you, but the portrayal you see here is pretty spot on to a real relationship. I know the complaint is that Clark's not just anyone, he's Superman and should not be acting like this. Well, here's a newsflash, he's not Superman yet on this show. He's a (supposedly) 20-21 year old young man who does not yet know (or, probably more appropriately, has not yet accepted) his true destiny.
Cut him (and the writers) some slack.

I'm a Chlarker but I do agree with what you are saying.. a first love is hard to let go of but after seeing her with Lex, I would think it would be easier.. I hate Clana together especially now.

prior to episode 100 I did not mind clana at all.
but i am sorry ep 100 changed things for me.
leaving the kent party to show/comfort a drunken lex with your new engagement ring, was wrong.
sorry , she should have stayed at the kent party. she was engaged and had no business at lex's , who she knew was clark's enemy.
i am sorry , i don't like lana. i don't feel she has treated clark properly over the last 6 seasons.
chloe has done any and everything for clark.
lois has an attitude but she would never play clark against someone else.
alicia never loved anyone other than clark.
lana could have behaved or been written different.
and sorry I am not a clana shipper.

yeah, i guess i'm not surprised either, but i still don't like it, for all the reasons listed in the last two posts. and that look she gave clark on her way out the door of the talon...wtc? she needs to make up her mind. she's trying to have her cake and eat it too, and for two strong willed individuals like lex and clark, i just don't buy that they should either be willing to go along with it.

You're right, I never thought of that.
I love [earlier seasons] Clana.
Maybe her leaving the party for Lex was foreshadowing her falling in love with him.. maybe at the time, she had feelings for him, but didn't know it.

Some valid points, but remember, in his mind, the reason she is with Lex now was because HE pushed her away. HE broke up with her not because she cheated on him, went to see Lex, stopped loving her or anything else. HE broke it off because of his fear that she would meet an awful fate if she knew his secret and he did not want to keep lying to her.

I guess I was raised different.
Yeah. I remember my first love and at the time the break up was really hard and at the time I thought there will be no other him.
But now I can honestly see why it did not work out and if he crossed my path today...I would not be looking to try to rekindle what was once there.
Because we were so obviously not right for each other.....just like Lana and clark. And to keep revisiting every 5th episode or so is just plain...boring.

I don't think I said otherwise. I am not talking years down the road here. Remember, he asked her to marry him (and she said Yes) only a year ago.

Yes it's only been a year ago but he also a year ago said he did not love her knowing (even though it was hard for him) the ramifications of a statement like that.
And while he said it out of nobility....I have to agree with Martha Kent on this one....deep down he knows she's not the one.
It would not be so bad if it was little hints of tension but the full blown angst every few weeks is getting boring is my only point...I think he needs to listen to his deep gut and be done with it.
I think Lana has shown her true colors and her first love (maybe the deepest of all the loves she had) was not Clark. She just reminds me a lot of the girl who want to have her cake and eat it to (Lex and Clark pining for her).

i guess part of the reason i wasn't surprised was the whole, unfinished business thing. I'm going through now and have gone through in the past stuff just like this. An artificial end is harder to get by.
that said, i still need to emphasize that i don't like it. i don't like lana, i don't like clana, and i don't like lexana.

i understand your point of first loves...and even though i didnt like his line about loving her, i'll deal with it...but what i find is going to be very difficult for the writers to make me believe is that:
1) he is still interested romantically for a woman who is carrying the child of your ex-friend
2) am I to belive that Kal, in all his RedK-drugged up state, wants his pregnant ex-gf to marry him instead??? This is the Kal who is an a$$, who just lives for fun and risk, doesnt care about anyone but himself....what's he gonna do?..marry her and raise Lex's child???..yeah right...no matter how much he loves her, Kal wouldnt want that responsibility....sorry, don't believe it

Again, good points...I just don't necessarily agree that this is so far-fetched as others.
As for Kal, I have always looked at his character not so much as being irresponsible, but unabashedly going after that which he wants. He wants Lana (admitted just this week), plus he hates Lex, so would not "stealing" her away fulfill both of his desires (to get what he wants and make Lex miserable)? I am thinking the baby angle will not even be in his mind (until Lana reminds him).
