This episode revealed that Clark could not be possessed by a phantom, which means that what Fine said about Clark being the original person who was supposed to be Zod's host body is false.

Wait. I thought Clark could be possessed. MMH said that if he doesn't fight back he'll be taken over. Reason being, his kryptonian DNA gave him a fighting chance.
Also when Fine originally tried to have Clark possesed he was using Kryptonite to weaken him, so Zod could take over. This Zoner tried to go heads up with Clark and invade his mind. It didn't realize Clark had an buddy from Mars.

mistake - the sound mixer quit and they hired a 4 year old that liked noises more than dialogue

I guess you're right. But as good as a job they've done, it still seems like an obvious retcon to me. I don't think the smartest being on Earth (at that time) would turn his back on Clark to let anyone help him or let him throw off the kryptonite himself.
And Jor-El did have a line (Vessel I think) where he said that Zod would possess a human vessel, not a Kryptonian one.

No, Clark is too strong, and not human, therefore, another being cannot inhabit him. The Martian Manhunter said that Dr. Hudson tried but failed since Clark si not human, therefore, making what Fine said to be false. Do the writers not remember past episodes when theyre writing future ones? I mean, come on...

I can't say I remember anyone saying Clark couldn't be "posessed", but I could have just missed it. Also, I thought the sounds in the background was Shelby, I could be wrong about that too, but right before he breaks away from the doctors and the treatment, he says "Shelby?" after hearing a sound. Correct me if I'm wrong.

^ Clark does say Shelby. IMO mainly because he gaining control of his senses and is cominig out of it all. Plus Shelby is eerily barking throughout the episode in the background.

I agree with the other guy. i walked away thinking that if Clark hadn't fought he would have indeed been taken over. that was the whole point of the treatment. Clark is only too strong for it to be automatic. I'll rewatch the episode when i get home to be sure.

I'm so glad to read that someone else heard that. I said something to my husband last night, but he didn't notice. But I swore I heard a barking or growling noise through the whole episode.

One major plot hole is when the Doc tells Clark that his psychosis started at 15, indicating that Clark had a normal life before he found out he was Kryptonian. However, Clark never had a normal life before 15. He was always strong and always fast. He always knew he was different, starting with busting his baby crib.
This being the case, the BDA should have been able to pick up that things weren't right then. Him and Lana couldn't have been normal childhood sweethearts, because he always thought he was 'abnormal' and different. He would have been just as hesitant at 10 as he was at 15. He would have still had to lie to her and so forth.
Clark didn't think. He's too busy getting hung up on the fact that he and Lana were together, everything else was easy to overlook.
BTW - where was Pete in this Alternate Universe? He was supposed to be his best friend since childhood. Perhaps Lana run him off early on and never gave their friendship a chance.

I just have to say that if Clark didn't have his powers, would his dad have died?

What I was wondering is if the meteor shower still happened, then where are all the FOTWs that attacked all the people...
Lex still was bald and wasn't weak, so the shower still had its effects.

I'm confused... what was the point of the meteor shower in the AU World
How could MM come to the barn so fast, if the whole Clark's mind possession took only like 1 second?

i thought that was odd too, but he obviously knew about the Phantoms and Clark, so he might have been hunting the Phantom or chasing it when it got to Clark.
Remember, the last time we saw Mr Oreo, he was hunting Batista the super-strong Phantom that was under-utilized.

I happened to be watching the show with the subtitles on, and it repeatedly said something like, "animal growling" until the last part when it said, "Shelby barking".

I guess to explain why Lana was living in the loft and living with Nell instead of her parents. Plus, that was when Clark arrived on Earth, so by still having the meteor shower and downplaying it so that he was much like other freaks whose parents died (like Cyrus from Visitor) to show how his life was a fantasy world. It also allowed them to have the doctor take the kryptonite out and hold it up to him (a funny scene).

Clark is supposed to be pure and good but at one point in this episode he sneaks up and punches a harmless janitor in the head. My friends and I could not believe that he would do that. Possessed or not he wouldnt ever do that. He only helps innocent people. Am I wrong here?????
I might stop watching in protest. Not really though
When they show the Janitor's employee of the month picture at the end of the episod his name is oliver queen?? what the???
Maybe he is the green arrows dad?? maybe clarke knew that and that is why he beat him up?? Maybe he wasnt so innocent

ok so the meteor shower still messed up Lex's hair, Lana's parents got killed, Clark's "real" parents got killed
the meteor shower still happened, its just that a baby in a spaceship did not come with it... supposedly

Exactly!
I thought I was the only one.
Throughout the episode, it sounded like creepy noises, but at the end Clark says "Shelby.. I'm still in the barn".
I just assume it was Shelby barking through the whole episode.

The reason they showed the Janitor's name was Oliver Queen, was the Phantom trying to get Clark to think he made his entire life story up. As he looks around the room, he sees things like soap called Jorel, a book called The Phantom Zone, etc.
That's to make Clark think that he took regular things from his mental-institution-life and made a story out of them.
And I disagree ... though Clark is always wanting to help people and give justice, in that situation I'm not surprised he punched out the janitor.
He panicked and really had no other choice.

and if clark was right at the time...he punched a janitor working at an evil assylum. there are worse things in the world than that. besides, since it's TV, the guy won't have a concussion or anything. he'll just need some more clothes and an aspirin or two.

The Dr. told Clark that his parents were killed in the meteor shower, to explain why he was still adopted, and said that the trauma of the meteor shower killing his parents was what caused him to make up all these stories in his mind, as a coping mechanism.

Didn't anyone else notice a scene missing? If you saw the promo pics, you might remember one in particular of the Martian Manhunter in his human form with an oreo in the hand, apparently talking to Clark in the barn.

can someone tell me what means the names of all characters like oliver queen, jorel, lara, and the others that appeared in the magazines and in anothers places¨??? do u understand what i've just written??????

so ur from Argentina huh? K-site has ppl from all over the world, Glad ta have ya here!
Those names u see in the epi just try to explain that Clark is sick and paranoid. That he has made up a world that doesn't exist in his mind.
-Oliver Queen: In the Real World is Green Arrow (A crime fighting vigilante who helps Clark on occasion) In Labyrinth he was simply a janitor
-Jor-El: In Real World is Clark's biological father from Krypton (that creepy voice u hear in the Fortress of Solitude and the Kawatche Caves) in Labyrinth it is merely a brand of hand soap
-Lara: In the REal World Is Clark's biological mother from Krypton (her full name is Lara Lor-Van) I don't know what Lara was in Labyrinth (sorry can't remember I'll look for it later)
-Raya: is in reality the kryptonian girl who helped him escape from the Phantom Zone (the blonde chick who died in Fallout) In Labyrinth she is merely a nurse in the clinic
-Phantom Zone: In the real world it is were all the bad kryptonians were sent to prison for an eternity of hell. In Labyrinth it is a magazine
-Fortress of Solitude: In reality it is the ice palace created for Clark by crystal filled with kryptonian knowledge. In Labyrinth it is a book/memoir
-Arthur Curry & Victor Stone: Both names of superpowered beings like Clark that form the Justice League. A.C = Aquaman, V.S= Cyborg. In Labyrinth they are other crazy patients in the clinic
-33.1: In Smallville, are secret labs created by Lex that experiment on meteor freaks. In Labyrinth it was simply the number of people allowed in the room or building.
I hope that clears things up. Anymore questions just feel free to ask. (Can also translate it to Spanish if it helps any better, perks of being bilingual! :p)

Didn't anybody else notice that at the end of the episode that his shirt was red and the Jacket was blue instead of the other way around? Could this be a possible lead-in to Bizarro?

biggest mistake in labrynth for me was no lois...they could have had the nurse be her or somethink .....or was she not there because she the one normal thing about clarks life so he doesn't see her as a thing to make him grazy .....oh she should have been in the episode that to me was a mistake
aqgalaxy
08-22-2007, 07:38 AM
^Yeah the lack of Lois bothered me.
Also I don't get how the episode lead to him STILL loving Lana. You would think almost giving up everything and everyone you care about for Lana says that you are obsessed not in love. I mean Chloe died cause he was believing Lana over her. Does that mean he rather have her dead then moving on from Lana?
