Hi all

I just wondered what all you fellow Heroes fans thought of this:

Ever since I have watched Heroes, I always thought of the similarities with X-Men. Well I know they have their differences as well but you got each character with different and unique abilities. I am guessing Mohinder will be playing a character like Professor Xavier? It would have been his Dad playing this role but Sylar got to him.

Anyway would be good to get your thoughts on this, thanks.

ya know, my dad said the exact same thing when he saw this show. i agree, but how many differances can you get with people evolution before you run into something thats already happened?

I thought....and everyone else who I've mentioned Heroes to, thinks the same thing.

X-Men = Heroes

Well there are some MAJOR similiraties, but I think Heroes has a very odd twist and mystique to it that X-men doesn't have, What? I can't quite put my finger on it.

Thanks for the responses fellow Heroes fans.

I agree with you binkys711 that Heroes "has a very odd twist and mystique to it." I am guessing as we are seeing the beginning of this particular Heroes generation, maybe thats why?! Or the writers have purposely tried to make it be different this way. (sorry if I am making no sense lol)

NO its not much like X-men the only thing is the genetic mutation to it.
First of all most mutant characters in x-men have more than one ability and some are incredibly powerful.
Professor xavier is the most powerful telepath on the planet he can do so many things yet Matt Parkman will never progress much further into his powers he can only "read" minds and thats it he might get some more control over it but he is nowhere near as strong and Xavier.
I can say the same about many others Nathan can fly so can storm however storm also controls the weather and etc.
Wolverine has an adamantium skeleton.

Also there are alot more mutants, most mutants actually have simply defects and such.
The heroes are simply ordinary people who have extra abilities besides the ordinary ones. Also the x-men is more about being different and discrimination, heroes isnt so out there they fly under the radar alot more you know.
The only true similiarity is the genetic anamoly.
The theme however is so different.
Other similairies are some of the powers but i can also say the same for many other characters.

Hey Saviour Of Earth

Thanks for your opinions but I didn't think about the similarities of Heroes to X-Men in that much detail lol...

Obviously if you analyse it (like you have), they are two different stories but I think because we have seen X-Men on the big screen and in the comics, we can make this judgement.

The main similarity probably is there is a group of X-Men with abilities and we are seeing the start of the Heroes group being formed, with Mohinder having to play the part of Professor Xavier. I know he does not have any abilties (not that I know of anyway).

In my opinion, the only downside to Heroes is the scenes we have seen of the future. We know that Hiro survives as he visited Peter from the future in episode 4. Also the main characters of a show don't usually blow up and destroy New York lol.

So it will be interesting to see how they show this may or may not happen.

YES THERE ARE SIMILARITIES....AS THERE ARE TO EVERY SHOW WITH AN ENSEMBLE OF SUPERPOWERED INDIVIDUALS....THIS IS NOTHING NEW....LET IT GO!!!!

Don't worry Ramjeet, there's one in every bunch. Lol!

Breathe Shadow, breathe! It's gonna' be okay. Really.
Uhhh......it's a forum. Forums are for discussions of such things. I was watching an interview clip, where Hayden (Claire)
was comparing the shows cast to the X-Men.

Wouldn't it be cool if Heroes became so big later on, that they did a full, feature-length movie for the big screen? That would be great! :D

Hey Randy, hows it going?

Your comments about Shadow really made me laugh out loud!!!

I agree and I think it would be amazing if Heroes got bigger and a feature-length movie, well not much more we could ask for?!

Well I read somewhere (maybe on HeroSite.net) that Season 2 of Heroes has been given the green light for the NBC listings later this year!

It's funny, I've been writing a sreenplay story about an unlikely superhero for years, and I toyed for a long time with this same concept that's on heroes now, but I threw it out eventually because I felt it was too much like X-Men and people would compare it too much.

Apparently, my judgment is distorted. The basic concept is working fine and because they don't call them mutants, have a special school, political undertones and old friends as enemies, people couldn't care less about the structural similarities of the mutant and the heroes concept. I guess that's why I'm still poor.

Hey loistickyfingerz (cool username hehe).

What do you mean your still poor? You made some valid points and good luck with writing your screenplay story.

Hey ramjeetp (thanks). I just meant I haven't sold a screenplay for some huge lump sum or collected royalties on some idea that I actually followed thru with. Sorry, sarcasm is difficult to portray in writing I guess (or it's just an example of my poor writing skills!)

I'd like to see a heroes movie someday too, maybe at the end of the series though.
