Lol, title explains.
I loved Lex in this episode- he was so deliciously evil! But next time he becomes nice and evil, we need to see him gloat about going global. :)

I liked the fact that he was also delusional that he was doing the right thing for the right reasons... and Lionel calling him to the carpet about it...

I agree and his showdown wit oliver was nice,I like how that cut didn't really seem to faze him/level 33.1 bein destroyed. He jus seemed cold this epi and I was glad, now if they can followup wit this later on I'll be satisfied. For once he seemed more MB than the MB himself, lionel actually looked alil nervous when talkin wit lex about level 33.1 and clark's involvement. So that was nice to see lex finally embracin his dark side even if he will go back to lana lustin in the next few epi's smh

Very important line when he told Lionel that he was fading or diminishing, I forget the exact line, but it shows that Lex is rising while Lionel is on the decline.

Or at least Lex *thinks* he is rising while Lionel is on the decline... ;)

Yes I agree. More of the bad boy Lex with his snappy comments and his slightly sadistic sarcastic facial expressions.
Enough of the love-e-dubby Lex.....I need my bad Lex fix now. :D

Lex is definately turning that corner to the darkside...He sure does reminence of Kevin Spacey's version of Lex from SR.
His quick sarcastic comments and just the way he carries himself as a deadly villain with a little of humor.
The only thing I thought the writers over did was when Lex was rambling on about Freedom and Democracy.

which is why I thought lex was more MB tonight than lionel, lionel really did seem worried for clark and only tryin to help.Which will make the betrayal later that much more sweet imo :D .But yes lex did seem more incontrol tonight than lionel but fo how long

I agree,he may think he's risin and actually was tonight but overall I think lionel will show his true colors after crimson and since lex will be focus on the weddin I see lionel usin his knowledge of clark against them both wit his own agenda. So ur right lex may think he's risin/lionel decline but for how long is the real question. They have to followup lex evilness soon and not take steps back to lex bein a default choice of lana's

I really liked the scene where he was toying with Bart. He had a little gleam in his eye that looked like he wanted to have some fun.
That discussion with Lionel was interesting because to me it showed him thinking like Sageth. He really thinks he's preparing to defend the world from Naman. He's seen the aliens first hand so to him there is a real threat. When you think back to his brush with mental illness it makes me wonder if he was always bordering on the edge of madness and if that little distortion is what drives him to believe what he's doing is right when at the same time he knows it's so wrong.

Lex has PERFECTLY valid reasons to attack the freaks. How many have tried to kill him, maim him and blow upi and destroy his property. he thinks every one of the heroes is a freeak just like all the others that stole, from him or killed him or whatever. he DOES want to protect the earth. Lionel is acting that way for his own selfsih MB reasons.

^^ Please. I don't really think you *really* believe that this is the reason that Lex is doing this. It's the excuse. Lex's real reason is power- plain and simple. And to suggest that it's because he's the 'victim' and wants to 'protect' the earth really degrades the character and makes him less than what he is. He's evil. Get used to it...
An example? The fact that he's keeping all of this a secret and not working with the authorities. The fact of the diabolical torture device he developed for Bart. The fact that he performs experiments on regular people that kill them. And many more... this isn't an altruistic man...
It was so great to see Lex doing actual Luthorcorp stuff, instead of just mooning over Lana all day, and he was actually interacting with people other than Lana! Ooh, and I loved the Luthors' scenes. Glover & Rosenbaum are the best. :D
In response to the two posts above, I think Lex does have valid reasons to think superpowered people are threats - every meteor freak in Smallville has been crazy and/or murderous. Investigating the physiological makeup of people with special abilities to increase knowlege would be beneficial to science and humanity. Even capturing Bart was justifiable (he might have been a corporate spy). But it's Lex's ethics (or lack thereof) that make him a villain. Even meteor mutants deserve human rights. And torturing Impulse was totally uncalled for.
