Except for Clark going into that room - I thought the episode was pretty good.

Especially the 'I want a pony tail' line from Lex and the 'This is it....the moment I'm going to regret for the rest of my life' line. IMO.

I have to say that this was a great episode. The part at the end when Clark wasn't going to blow up the building until HE MADE SURE that everyone got out really made the episode for me. I was down on the fact that he got trapped in there but I don't know, that one line had a major impact, IMO.

You're right - no Lana. I missed that...or rather I guess I didn't miss her at all. ;)

I liked this episode a lot - more character bonding between the boys and more action.

And oh yes, the 'smart-mouth badass Lex' was great. :)

Yes, one of the best episodes ever. In my opinion, no more filler epidoes and more continuity and characterization for me : ) This was not a filler episode and episodes like these i love but i do love "Smallville" to but with every movie and show, there are filler episodes and episodes better than others, it just happens.

I agree,it showed imo that tho he wasn't incharge of the mission he still took it upon himself to be the leader. His concern for others was more important tho he knew the explosion was necessary.I do think this was a great epi and luved everyones interaction wit each other(Chloe's excitement of them all/Clark havin a certain bond wit each espcially bart/vic imo).Tho I wished it was a 2 part epi I dont mind this bein alil rushed in 1,it was definitely worth the hype and is hands down the best epi of the season/ranked high on my list period as well. But clark tho seemed more mature in this epi and I was really pleased wit him

Not since "Reckoning," at least the first half of it, have I been on the edge-of-my-seat. This episode is now in my top three: "Reckoning," "Justice," "Exile."

Finally the special effects were given the proper treatment, and I loved that Bart was a main focus of the episode.

I also really loved not having Lana in this episode. Having Lois and Oliver was much better than Clark and Lana. Now Oliver can finally relate to Clark.

WOW!!!!!

It was all predictable. We still don't know if that was the real 33.1 or not. Where was all the freaks of the weeks that were locked up? I think they hit the wrong site. One of the top 10 episodes still maybe number 10.

Too much Chloe in it. And too much Lois in it. They needed to drop the love scenes of Oliver/Lois. Now how were they gonna do that 33.1 thing without Chloes help in the control room? Who was gonna be in the control room before Chloe showed up. They seemed lost in the place leaning on everything Chloe was saying. Made no sense.

And Clark has been around Lana too much his brain is starting to act like hers. Now he should know by now not to open lead shielded doors in a Lex building and not expect trouble behind the door. All he had to do is look inside before he went in the room after opening the door. But Noooo lets go in before we know what is inside and trip over the liquid meteor rocks.

The good parts of this episode must be in the directors cut available in the HD-DVD version of the Season 6 DVD's.

The ending when they are walking away from the explosion was pretty cool though. :)

Lex was great for the three seconds he was in the show and the interaction b/w him flash and GA was cool. Change that he was in the ep longer than 3 secs but I liked how Clark acted more like Supes. And I liked how he got the codename Boy Scout. Overall it is definetly top five.

This was a keeper and I agree there cannot be too much Chloe. She is right there, supporting Clark and the other guys when the chips are down. No Lana AT ALL is always a plus and if we could have had no Lois, packing up her clothes to jet over to Monte Carlo on her BF's dollar with apparently no thought for her supposedly important job at the tabloid rag, it would have been even better.

I think we got the very clear message here that when the chips are down, it's Chloe to whom Clark turns for advice and support and no one else. And apparently, the rest of the guys felt similarly, taking Clark's word that Chloe was completely trustworthy. It was also hilarious when Chloe made the remark about having to discover GA's green leather fetish on her own. This is the girl who is in the thick of it and thrives on the action.

I loved the emphasis on Clark's concern for human wellbeing no matter what those human beings had done. It was another supremely Supermanly moment as he fell in with the spirit of the Justice League at its beginning. Clark was Superman, the League was out in force, Lex was his usual evil self, as he has been for a long time now and Chloe...well, Chloe was everything a partner and reporter at the world's greatest newspaper should be. It was a great ep though somewhat rushed and yes, I wish it had been a two-parter, as well.

The time is now and Superman is right in front of us whether he is wearing the tights or not.

superspider02
01-19-2007, 12:20 PM
Yea i would put it on my list of top episodes. As others said it would have been great if it could have been a two parter then maybe they would have fought lex's freak army he has still hidden somewhere. Oh well i still enjoyed the episode alot.

Very Superman like of Clark to make sure everyone was out of the building even if he wasn't running the show. Kudos, our farmboy may actually be getting closer to his destiny.
I do wish that this was a 2 part epi. I felt the story was a little rushed though too.

I could think of many episodes that were better than this one:

Arrival
Commencement
Solitude
Rosetta
Exile
Shattered
Asylum
Onyx
Transference
Fallout
Red
Rush
Hidden

This episode totally lacked a decent challenge (problem to overcome) for the JLA and things were just too easy for them. It also took Clark several steps back and regressed him into deep BDA territory by him telling Chloe Bart's secret and beating himself by walking into a room with kryptonite. In Fallout, the underlying message was that he understood he had to walk a different path than his human friends and family. By telling Chloe about another superhuman's secret and involving her in it, he went against the very thing he learned from Fallout. Bart, like Clark, has to also walk his own path. The fact that they are all superhuman beings is what makes them able to relate to one another. But Clark telling Chloe about Bart violated the same expectations he has of those who keep his secret. If it is OK to reveal someone's secret ID to a very trusted friend because the person with the secret ID is in danger, then that means Chloe should have told Lana Clark's secret in the last few seasons when Clark was in trouble and when Chloe totally trusted Lana. This was a major character and integrity flaw of Clark's.

I also noticed he said that before joining Ollie's team, there was something he has to do (i.e. beat the zoners). Excuse me, but I thought in Fallout he said he would finally begin his training once the zoners were beaten? Another excuse, I guess. Give me a break.

You bet it's one of the best ever. And a commanding role for Chloe, what more could we ask for? Oh yeah, Lana was absent :D

I am amused, though, that if Lois was willing to go so far with Oliver, then gets put off again by his secret lifestyle (what, she isn't sure he's GA yet????), she has her heart broken, yet we're to believe she'll fall for Superman later, who will remain a secret to her in some way (heck, if she doesn't recognize him as Smallville right away, she IS dumb :) ) After what she's being put through, she just needs to shack up with Shelby....

Well, that's in the opinion of the viewer. That list for me is a list of episodes that beat Justice. If you'd ask me to make a list of my top 15 episodes, I'd also throw in Exodus & Calling and would leave out Justice.

Justice had good characters, but what they did with them was just nothing spectacular. And the biggest crime of all was how it made both Lex & Clark (the main 2 icons of this show) look utterly incompetent. Justice did no justice to the 2 icons of Smallville.

I really liked this episode and the down part to it was that Clark got stuck in that room with kryptontie and had to be rescued.

They made Oliver seem like the leader of the Justice League and I didn't really like all that either. I guess my main complaint of this episode is that they didn't make Clark really seem all that powerful and great in this one .

I would say that it will be in my top 5 list. I thought that the end scene when they were walking away and the building exploding behind them was a little corny but that is my only complaint.
Other than that, I like it how Lex played the straight forward bad guy, Green Arrow assume leadership when Clark when MIA, Chloe as Watch Tower was a nice touch and action scenes were superb especially when Cyborg charged past the guards.
Hope we get a couple more episodes like this in season 8 - maybe the Justice League verse Doomsday?

Same here. The slow-mo scene is the crowning of the episode that was already great with good balance of plot, romance and action. Clark checking that the plant is clear of civilians is such a small moment but tells about his character more than anything!
