View Full Version : Kismet? The people GA and Clark coincidentially both know is rather absurd.

Clark and GA, through entirely independent means in each case, have managed to encounter all of the following people, with nobody introducing Clark or GA to anyone except eachother.

Lois
Lex
Lionel
Lana
Martha
AC
Cyborg
Bart

It's a small world afterall.

The only ones I consider absurd on that list are AC, Cyborg, and Bart. The fact that they've just happened to roll back through Kansas to meet GA without saying Hi to Clark (well, from what I've seen of the 12-min preview) is a little weird. Other than that, Lois, Lionel, Lex, and Martha all met Ollie under their own circumstances, two of them having known him since he was a child, the other two having met him as a part of Martha's political career.

Well, Ollie did send his "scouts" out to look for special people to recruit. Could have easily found them out, he found out about Clark.

With regards to AC, Victor and Bart - that's Oliver's intentions all along, to search for people with superhuman abilities. He came to Metropolis to investigate about Lex and his powers anyway. Makes sense for Oliver to come across those three by himself.

Is this true!?!?! I posted last week in the "Missed Opportunities" thread of Hydro that they should have done a setup where the heros start to appear and have a lead-in to Justice so that it is NOT Ollie who introduces the team to Clark. That is the last thing I wanted. There is NO way Ollie would know any of those passers-by. If this is true, I will be pissed off big time. None of those guys know each other. Clark is the ONLY common denominator between them and doing this will just be another case of the GA stealing Clark's thunder.

Prepare to be pissed.

When I first saw fallout, I thought Bow Wow was Cyborg, and I was like "Oh wow they are really gonna do a good job building up to this justice league episode."

Plus having a Zoner in a Cyborg made it even cooler. :D

Pfft I should've known that 4 episodes ahead, starting to bring the characters together is beyond TPTB...

I thought it was obvious all along, he did want to put together a team to help him in this hero business. His dialogue in Arrow at the end pretty much confirmed this for me, "When you're ready to do something about that, you let me know."

I don't see him as stealing Clark's thunder or anything like that. He's just going with what he has intended to do from the start.

i think that ollie finding all these people isn't that much of a stretch. if he had a working satelite, then he knows that smallville is important. he would naturally use his influence to get to martha, and thus lois. All rich people know each other, or at least of each other. Same in real life, the way entertainers and athletes all know each other.

granted, there are a few too many coincidences, but nothing as outlandish as a baby from a doomed planet making it all the way here.

Y'know, you're absolutely right on there. So no, I don't think it's ridiculous that Ollie knows any of these people now.

I think it would have been a lot better if Bart escapes from Lex and ran to Clark telling him about 33.1. Then Clark would call his contacts AC & Victor and take them to Ollie, saying you want a team? I've got you one.

Would be even more puzzling IMO. What good reason for Clark to think of AC and Victor as potential help for the 33.1 business? He simply saw them as his friends whom he had helped in the past. There's also no indication that he has been keeping in touch with those guys after they left Smallville.

Clark can't even tie his own shoes right now(without Chloe that is), let alone start up a team.

If they aren't going to have Clark (the future Superman) as the great unifier of the superheroes, then they better give a damn good reason as to how Ollie found or heard of the others and not just have them all in 1 room without any explanation.

How can someone be a "unifier of superheroes" when he's not one yet?

Heck, none of the members of the proto-JL are superheroes yet other than GA. This is a ragtag band of not-quite-superheroes doing superheroic things. They're all heroes, but it takes a lot more than superpowers to be superheroic (and even GA isn't quite there, IMO.)

^^Exactly. I think Clark, who will be Superman, should be the one to unite them and get the ball rolling. It would be a big plus on his Super resume & to the legacy of his Smallville character. Having him as a tag-along degrades his status.

I could see where they're going with this. TPTB love Hartley and want to give him a big role in a spin-off show. So they want to make him the leader of the JLA so that if they do have a JLA show, he will remain the leader (since Clark won't be on that show, at least not as a regular). So that means downgrading Clark to make Ollie look good (AGAIN!!). Not a smart idea if you consider that the spin-off idea may fail again (though this time, I hope it doesn't, since a JLA show would be far better than a stupid show about Aquaman).

Agreed. GA being the "unifier" is just because he's the only one who has the advantage of having all the proper resources to handle the team and the 33.1 situation, so it makes more sense for him to be the one who gathered these people for the job. No big deal. I really can't see why would that downgrade Clark or anything.

Actually, in the comics and such Superman was reluctant to join at first I think.
