Talk about the ratings for Justice (hopefully through the roof) once they're posted here.

I'm betting that they're some of the best (if not the best) of the season. There's plenty of discussion going on, apparently, since I keep getting Network Timeouts on Kryptonsite. I know it's not on my side, since everywhere else works fine.

This eppy has to have the best ratings of the season! If not then I'm sure its because they did such a crappy job promoting it. Cuz lets face it, unfortunately none of the commercials lived up to the online hype.

I saw lots of commercials for it leading up to it. Yahoo had a 12-minute preview. We saw reviews of the show before it even aired (how often do we actually get that? I didn't think that happened with Smallville.)

Never underestimate the internet. While the whole world not be on it, it has LOTS of power in hyping things up.

Lack of promotion isn't going to be the downfall of this episode. I saw atleast 3 promos before it even aired. Not counting the numerous trailers I've seen throughout the hiatus and week leading into the episode.

Yeah, I think the only thing that could bring this episode down was if it had a bad episode leading in. Luckily, Hydro was a great lead-in, and the show was promoted like crazy. Can't wait to at least get the overnights.

Yeah you're right but i think that the commercials could have done more to promote the superheroes themselves but i dunno. I'm just hoping the ratings kick butt so 7th season wont be in question lol

Pfft. 7th Season isn't anywhere near in question, IMO. A network isn't going to cancel it's #2 show unless they have something MAJOR to replace it with.

Justice is the best so far, but it would have been better as a two hour special since it leads to the formation of Justice League. To bad CW does not repeat its Thursday show later on during the night or even the next day or so. I am still hoping Chloe and Clark hook up even in an episode like Laberinth........SV is the Best Show ever from CW/WC

Niice. It went up during the last half hour.

Not bad for 5.25 million viewers.

And YES, "Justice" so far is the highest rated episode this season. I'm surprised we didn't reach 6 million atleast especially with all the promotion.

Very good ratings! However, if Smallville was still on WB, the ratings might have been in the 6 million plus viewers. CW merger was bad for Smallville in terms of # of viewership. I wished it had stayed on WB.

I'll tell ya, my fave episodes this season are Justice (I loved it so much: "Cyborg to Aquaman! Where the hell are you Fish stick?"), Reunion and Hydro!

Justice was by far, the best episode this season but I will keep crying because Justin Hartley had to leave (ericarox14 cries)!

In TV Guide G&M stated that, depending on how Justice went (it went GREAT), we might see either just Oliver or the whole JLA back for the season finale!

So, with Justice having pulled in the ratings it did- looks like we might have one super heroic season finale yet!:D "He (GA) might show up in the last couple of episodes [of the season]."

The promotion sucked it didnt even mention the title of the episode! lol Had th CW commercials actually said "The Justice League on Smallville!" (much like how they did when the promoted the solo-DC-heroes episodes) it probably would have caught more people's attention.

The success of this episode then bodes well for next week's episode, I should think and since that one looks like a winner, SV may be able to carry its momentum all the way until Trespass.:)

What? Because it didn't mention "The Justice League" it sucked? They promoted this episode better than just about any episode ever. Maybe even better than Reckoning. Advanced reviews, 12-minute previews, promos airing just about every time you turn around on The CW? What more could you ask for? A measly thing like "The Justice League" wouldn't have made a difference, and the numbers were already the best of the season. Once again, we're on The CW now, we have less households to deal with. The ratings are quite a bit higher than any other episode this season.

Let's not be picky just because it didn't hit 6 million. That is a lofty goal that probably won't happen unless The CW gets more networks across the country in places where they don't get it.

Yeah for a Justice League episode, the commercials did not cut it. For a SV viewer like yourself and I, we know the coolness of what the commercial hints at but I get the feeling that a normal veiwer would have no clue that this episode marks the first hints of the Justice League.

And really the goal should have been to draw in DC and just plain comic fanatics alike. Instead the marketing was generally only for us SV viewers. This was a case where actually saying the words Justice League would have cause a lot of hype in the comic world and probably even a front cover to WIZARD lol

Don't get me wrong though, the episode was awsome and did well...but it should have done great. But like you've already posted, the CW isn't available to everyone ...not even nationwide! ...nor online for that matter which is pretty stupid seeing how the CW is mostly owned by Paramount and Time Warner which owns AOL which supports and helps provide online shows on CBS....lol sorry had to gripe :D

So, where was the 12-minute preview for Hydro? Or the several advance reviews posted on K-site? And magazine articles?

Why are people even complaining about this? There *was* a lot of promotion, and the show *did* pull off the best ratings of S6.

I agree. I don't know why some are still complaining about the lack of promotion or comparing ratings from season 5. I thought it did quite well. The 6 million viewers aren't likely to happen on CW unless Smallville moves to a bigger network.

Time Warner and Paramount denied certain cities the CW in which they prominently recieved very low ratings for UPN and WB.

Which isnt saying much...

Whats worse is that after Arrow recieved the lowest ratings of the "hero episodes" by not having extra commercials (which were obviously necessary), they did the same exact thing for Justice. The other DC superhero eppys featured extra commercials along with a shout of the hero's future codename and a few seconds of a freeze frame featuring a screen with the comic book font logo of the character's codename. Now thats how promotional commericials should be done! And the results reflected.

MidgardDragon
01-19-2007, 06:02 PM
Which isnt saying much...

You admit that The WB and UPN did not put The CW in every market, but then go on to say that pulling off the best ratings of the season isn't saying much? Just look at the fact that Smallville is still The CW's number 2 (#1 when ANTM isn't on) show. Clearly since it's so popular, if it had more markets, we'd get more numbers.

I swear people will complain about ratings no matter how well they do. And clearly you just wanted a certain type of commercial, and I'm glad that The CW didn't promote it that way. If you want that commercial, fire up Windows Movie Maker and create it.

5.2 million viewers. Most viewers this season and in awhile. I hope the viewers stay so that SV can get the recogntion that it deserves for being an awesome show. Mabye, now, theyll be thinking of giving us a Green Arrow or JLA spin-off in the near future. Evene mabye a Flash spin-off would be sweet. Heres hoping : ) Anyone else happy?

I thought the ratings were great. No matter what happens people are going to complain, we didn't get 6 mil but with CW as said it doesn't cover as much as WB used to. The high ratings should help bring in more viewers for next week(hopefully).

superpal1
01-20-2007, 10:08 AM
The ratings were great and it just goes to show how well Smallville can do when it gets the right promotion. Smallville is a success on the CW and all this bickering about numbers when comparing to previous seasons is pointless. Everyone knows that the CW does not have the same number of outlets that the WB had-case closed-you can't compare. What you can debate is the numbers for each episode this season and critique why each one did the ratings they did. Justice was high because the promotion was there and many magazines are boasting how good Smallville is.

I still wonder why with four guess heroes and NO Lexana, why did the show not do much better? Even the individual Aqua and Cyborg eps. did a million viewers better. I thought the ep. was average and if this was what Smallville became on a weekly basis, then Heroes would be my new favorite Scifi show.

I guess Ollie never felt the same way about Lois that she felt for him. Just ANOTHER misleading Billionaire.

Even the individual Aqua and Cyborg eps. did a million viewers better.

Here is the explanation, once again. It has been simplified this time:

Aqua and Cyborg = Season 5 = WB = more people got WB than get CW. More people available = more people watching. CW not in every "market".

STFanatic
01-21-2007, 05:29 PM
True, true.

What is great is, Smallville beat out Fox during the second half.
CW is not in all areas but Fox does.

One thing I would like to see is CW adding Smallville to the http://video.cwtv.com/ website.
They have Supernatural & Veronica Mars, and I think all the other sries on CW.

MidgardDragon
01-21-2007, 05:35 PM
Wow, I had no idea CW had that available. They definitely should add Smallville to that. It would get more people watching the day it aired if they got to see the episode they missed the previous week.

STFanatic

I watch Heroes online too here: http://www.nbc.com/Video/rewind/full_episodes/heroes.shtml

ABC has one:
http://dynamic.abc.go.com/streaming/landing

CBS:
http://www.cbs.com/innertube/

ABC Family:
http://abcfamily.go.com/watch.html

I think Scifi channel has something as well, but I lost my link somewhere.....

Smallville needs to be in there, they can do like NBC and put in commercials and make a few more bucks in the long run.

It's nice to see that the numbers rose, even if it's just by a little bit. Hopefully, the CW is taking note. I want a "Justice" series!
Tomorrow's episode, "Labyrinth," should do pretty good, considering that everything except for The War at Home is a repeat, the CW put together a pretty good promo, it has two good episodes leading into it, so it has the momentum, and it has another DC Comic's character. Anyone think it will break five million? I hope so.
If "Labyrinth" is any good, "Crimson" should do pretty well in the ratings, also.

This shows why "Justice" didn't get better numbers than it actually did, it is hard to promote and advertise a show if no one is watching the network that week

Justice was Outstanding. I was very happy to see the writers creating the Justice League of America, right before our eye's.
It was like having the comics finally come to life.
The Green Arrow, AquaMan, were right on the money. Although the writers made a mistake with Bart, by calling him "Impulse" when his real code name is suppose to be The Flash. And Cyborg is from the Teen Titans.
I hope they also bring a young Wonder Woman into the Show, and the Green Lantern, Hawkman, and Batman, and even The Black Canary ( Oliver Queen's real Love interest )
Because they, together with Superman form the Original Members of The JLA , and it would make for a very exciting and the best season of Smallville yet. We will all have to wait and see.

Actually, The Flash is known as Impulse first when he first becomes a crime fighter. He is not known as The Flash until later on in his life when he grows up some more. I do agree, it was an outstanding episode and now we have news of a Justice League movie. It should be freaking awesome!
