I'm giving this episode a solid '9'. It wasn't perfect so I can't give it a 10, but I think it did a pretty good job of representing the Justice League and possibilities for Clark's future. There were a few pacing issues in my opinion but I really enjoyed it all the same!

L-O-V-E-D IT! Left butterflies in my tummy. Loved the whole teamwork thing. And I know we will see 33.1 again before the end of this season. Cyborg is the SH!T! Aquaman, he got HOTT! O and when GA told Clark that he was gonna do what he does best and he smiled. I almost died. *faints* Too sexy. Eyecandy everywhere. Might be a fanboys dream but it's a female fantasy to see all that muscle and just OOOOOOOOOO WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I gave it a 9 simply because of that one scene with clark walking into the kryptonite room. The rest I was yelling holy crap!!! MAn this is rockin and didn't have one bad thing to say about the episode it excited me, which more than I can say about the rest of the season before this episode.

I loved this episode...By far, the best one of the series so far, in my opinion.
I loved the interaction between the Leaguers...The way they poked fun of each other and joking around, it's just the way all guys act when a group of friends get together for an outing.
Loved the nickname GA gave Chloe, Sidekick...
The ending, well, that just gave me goose bumps.

AWESOME Ep! They really upped the SFX in this ep too. Looked like they went all out to make sure this ep turns out well. Kickass action and a lot of new story developments as well. Oliver breaks up with Lois and decides to go off to save the world with the other JL members. Clark promises he'll join the team once he takes care of the zoners. And Lex is expanding 33.1 globally to build an army of "superfreaks". I'm salivating at the possibility of a full out war between Lex's army and the JL (with more additions like Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, etc) in the future.

Thanks for mentioning lex I forgot to talk about him. I absolutely adored his character this episode since he was written as the dark character we know him to be. There was no sappy, fluffy lex just the 100% evil man we know him to be.

I gave it an 8 because it wan't without flaws, but it was the best episode of the season and one of the better episodes I've seen in a long while.

The heores had good chemistry together and I'd like to see them in future episodes. I liked that Ollie was a tough leader and he really commanded the situation well.

Maybe its me, but Clark going into the room with the Kryptonite seemed a little out of place. In my opinion, they make Clark a little too naive. He had to save Bart from being killed and he hesitates when they're about to blow the building. I'd be po'd if someone tried to kill one of my friends.

I can honestly say that this is head and shoulders above any other episode for me. Each character in it brought a unique dynamic to the episode and it made very some very entertaining drama.
Hartley should either get a spin off series with the other members of the team or be brought back for more episodes next season with the team.

What a MAJOR episode!!! I only knew of Cyborg through Teen Titans, did I miss the WHY he was included? I'm glad to see everyone agreeing, I thought I would see the "purist" type of comments like "Yeah great, but they didn't do xxxxx", etc.

AND on the same day I am seeing the announcements about the release of the animated Iron Man feature (I know, not JL or Smallville related)!! But it is a little mis-leading stating it is the first animated release, or something like that. I remember the cartoon in the 60's.

I thought at the end of this epi "why can't they all be like this?"

Great script, great acting, horrible FXs. Seriously, that explosion was so lame and so obviously CGI. The FX budget seems to really have been cut, but I LOVED seeing Bart back. I wish they'd create a whole new storyline with his character.

And, I was hoping at the end of show Clark or Oliver would say something like "we'll meet again, soon." Alas, but I guess they didn't hire me as a writer for a reason. Kudos to Deknight.

There are only three times a TV showing makes my hands sweat. One] is when my beloved Eagles play football, 2] is when I watch "24", and the third time was tonight, watching "Justice".

THIS EPISODE WAS FRAKIN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I was at the edge of my seat during the entire time, and "Smallville" never did THAT to me [only "24" makes me quiver like that]. The story, pacing, dialogue, and especially the action/fx sequences was top notch [that explains the stretch of sucky episodes earlier in the season, they were saving the best stuff for this one!]. Now, these heroes can blow the "other HEROES" out of the water [I still can't get into that show. I saw a couple of episodes and it was too dense for me. Oh well, I wont have to worry about that show, since JACK IS HERE, AND BOY IS HE REALLY PISSED!].

DAMN, what a week! First Jack Bauer, and now the Justice League! But wait! Sunday [after the Colts lose to the Patriots AGAIN!] Adama, Starbuck, Apollo, Six, and the BG gang return.

THIS IS REALLY SENSORY OVERLOAD AT ITS FRAKIN BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favorite parts, actually. If you look at all of the other heroes they are using, in the comics, they are more along the lines of results, not methods... where Superman is methods before results. This showed that difference.

CK has realized he needs to be proactive and attack possible threats. CK sees that there are people he can trust and do what they can to help humanity.

wow wow wow

I gave it a 10 can't find a thing wrong with it

we've waited so long and when the boys came out of that burning building I had tears in my eyes and again at the end when Ollie said, "let's go save the world boys"

And like someone say Clark has learned an important lesson, he can't wait for trouble to knock on his door.

Proactive baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best so far.

Did I mention it's the best yet?

This was absolutely one of the best episodes to date. No Lana crap. Just Lex turning into a bad*** and the Justice League kicking it. Chloe fits into the team perfect and since she now knows them all and what they can do, it is only logical that she help out. The new abilities for Cyborg were great. And finally, Clark sees what he needs to be doing. There are still phantoms to take care of. I would say they pull more JLA episodes into season 7. There's no way they can stop at 6 now. Lionel will cover as long as it doesn't dig too deeply into his pocket and the more factories that get destroyed, the more he will turn. That may lead to his demise later. Overall, perfect show. I could find nothing that did not hold my attention throughout. Please keep Lana away from Smallville.

Ok, my head is together. I can finish what I thought about the episode.

1) Clark b*k*a* Boyscout- I thought he was great in this episode. I had on lil problem with him going through the lead door though. It was kinda like ole girl in Fragile that stood by the big azz mirror when it was rattling. One of his blonde moments. Other than that I thought that he was great. This episode has showed that Clark has matured and is focused on doing what he needs to do other than minor problems like *coughs* Lana *coughs* My man finally got his balls back! *applauds*

2) Chloe a*k*a Chloelicious b*k*a Watchtower- AWESOME! My girl did her thang in this episode. Loved her lil smartass remark about them gettin caught thought it was funny. I was happy that she was able to do something in the episode and not make it seem like she was doing all the work like some ppl complain about. I thought that she was pratically perfect in every way :)

3) Oliver Queen b*k*a Green Arrow- I must say at first I was happy that he was leaving, but after this episode I was sad to see him go bye bye. Loved him in the episode. From his smile to his kicks to his chest to his voice to his punches *faints*

4) Bart Allen b*k*a Impulse- Fantabulous!! I alwayz loved him since Run. I was glad to see him back. His banter with Lex was awesome! And the flirting with Chloe was too cute!

5) A.C b*k*a Aquaman- HOTT!! Loved the whole fish jokes line. And a shirtless A.C makes up for a shirtless C.K.

6) Victor Stone b*k*a Cyborg- SO SO SO SO SO SO SESSY*drools*
OQ saw him on the street and said "Partna partna let me let me upgradeeeeeeee ya" His technology was off the wall!! Too freakin cool!

7) Lex- Lana needs to be in Paris longer if it means that he will be actin like that. I loved his and I want a ponytail line. That's the Lex Luther I have been waiting to see!!!

8) Lionel- What the hell is going on in that magnificent head of yours you Magnificent Bastard you?!?! He's covering for Clark and working with Lex. I wonder if he is trying to bring down Lex on the sly. HMMMMMM. No one knows! But I was glad to see him in this episode. I missed him!

9) Lois- Altough she did not play a big role in this episode she was good. I felt bad for Lo-lo at the end though. Made me wanna cry. I'm really gonna miss my Lolliepop.

andddddddddd

10) Lana- STAY IN PARIS! WE DON'T NEED YA!! j/p

Overall 10/10. LOVED IT! AWESOME! WILL WATCH IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!

Not since "Reckoning," at least the first half of it, have I been on the edge-of-my-seat. This episode is now in my top three: "Reckoning," "Justice," "Exile."

Finally the special effects were given the proper treatment, and I loved that Bart was a main focus of the episode.

I also really loved not having Lana in this episode. Having Lois and Oliver was much better than Clark and Lana. Now Oliver can finally relate to Clark.

I thought it was amazing. It had lots of action and suspense and it's probably one of my new favorite episodes of Smallville. Clark FINALLY got a little more perspective on being a hero (now maybe his character will develop some more). Chloe was excellent as the teams go-to girl. Ollie and his gang SO need to get there own show. Lex was perfectly EVIL in this episode and is growing into the Lex Luthor we all know and love. Lionel was being his amazing MB self (i'm so excited to see what's going on with him). This episode also proved that the world of Smallville can be in perfect harmony WITHOUT Lana (no i'm not a Lana hater, i just think she's run out of storylines). The Lois and Ollie break up was a little too cliched and soap operaish for me, but sad and heartbreaking none the less. Great episode. A much deserved 10/10!

Been a while since I posted.

But good. So freakin' good. I loved it.

I'll watch this episode over and over for years to come.

A so-called reviewer on AICN said that this episode lost it's luster because of shows like Heroes.

Well he was dead wrong. This was fun beyond explanation. A fanboys dream. DC has never had a live incarnation of it's characters that has been as cool as this.

Well done DeKnight. The episode left me feeling the way every good episode of every TV show does.

I agree....but with another title other than super friends lol ;)

I thought the episode was good. I loved that Lex was a bad boy in it. Clark got stuck with a dumb codename because he jumped the gun and ran head first into trouble (if you can't see through the door then maybe you should take a moment to consider that there is something bad on the other side of that door). Ollie's gone (for a bit) - sadness. Chloe rocked.....Lois got the short-end . The ending was great - Clark and the JL parted on good terms with the door being left open for him to assist. Now on with Clark taking care of his business.

I liked the banter between characters in the episode. Whether it was between Lex and Bart (I want a pony tail) or between Cyborg and Aquaman (put a shirt on). I thought that this episode worked on the boy bonds. Which was cool.

But I must say - I really liked the intro of the JL.....I would like to see more.

Hey, hey! I'm just like you! "Justice" was definitely the best of the bunch, although you can't quite compare Smallville to Heroes because their themes and goals and ideas are too different. I'm into 24 and Battlestar Galactica, too! I'm pretty hooked to Heroes, but I don't much care about football. And the hand-sweat thing sounds like me, too. lol

I liked it a lot. It wasn't going to be what I wanted it to be, but I knew that going in. So, I put that aside and just took it for what it was, and I thought it was a lot of fun.

I thought Victor, AC and Bart were all great. I didn't enjoy Ollie too much, but he's just not a favorite of mine.

I thought Clark was solid, in character, and had very understandable motivations and actions. I loved his determination to save Bart, his hesitation about blowing up the facility if anyone could be hurt, and his solid reasons for not going with the other guys.

Chloe's role in the episode felt right and appropriate, and I really do like the bond she and Clark share.

And Lex wasn't a whiney, wimpy lovestruck idiot. He was nasty, and sadistic, and sociopathic and most of all, COOL. Amazing what a lack of Lana will do for his character.

And Lionel's cover story was hilarious.

The only scenes that truly didn't work for me were the Lollie scenes. They slowed the episode to a crawl, and I just wasn't feeling the melodrama.

well since everybody else got there say out the ep so do i. like you all i loved the episode. what i like most are the effects, like the 1st 10 min of the show wit bart and clark running. that was awesome. also the scene where clark busts bart out of the chamber. that was cool. definitely my fav ep. one thing still bothers me tho, i think i read somewhere that someone was gonna give a reference to batman by sayin they were goin to gotham or something but i didnt hear that in the show. if anyone else did let me know. anyways best episode of the season!

It was GREAT. Incredible episode. Nice new powers shown, with some pretty good FX for this year. Yes, the addition of super vision would have helped.
Clark's slight turn by allowing the explosion was satisfying, and weighted the JLA walk all the more. Great scott, I loved that episode! The dialogue had a snappy sense of comic book delivery, and none of last year's Aqua treatment. Only one problem with such a memorable and well-received episode. The wait for another one.

Oh man, where should I begin. This had stuff that I liked and stuff that I really hated. So here we go.

What worked:

Cyborg - I loved his downloading abilities in addition to the usual strength/power. Very cool. It was great seeing Lee Thompson Young again. Maybe my favorite member of the JLA.

AC - Not one mention of bro. His lines have greatly improved. Though they could have done without the "You're lucky I have my pants on" line. That one really turned me off.

Lionel - Nobody knows what this guy is up to. He's playing both sides of the fence and clearly is protecting Clark. I'm thinking his involvement in 33.1 is to keep Lex busy with it as a distraction while he is up to something much bigger (and perhaps more sinister) and is also watching over Lex to see what he does. The father & son cooperation was very interesting to watch.

Lex having Bart trapped - By far the best scene of the episode. Lex Luthor at his game was great. I loved his lines about wanting a ponytail and not getting everything he wanted. A great scene.

Lana - Not around. She had no business in this episode anyway.

Continuity - They mentioned Nell & Katherine, which is a positive though small step for continuity.

33.1 - I liked the expansion of 33.1 into several labs. This will allow it to survive a while as each site is destroyed or shut down.

What didn't work:

Chloe - This was the major thing that bugged me. They went right back to Chloe knowing all kinds of BS that she would never know. But what bothered me even more is that earlier this season, they had a sacred pact between Clark & Ollie not to let ANYONE in on the secret ID's. And what do they do? Expose everyone's ID to Chloe. WTF!!!!! She has no business knowing everyone's secret. I hate how everyone tells her every damn thing. Then they decided to turn her further into another Oracle like in the Batman comics (Barbara Gordon). Chloe had no business in the middle of all this. Putting her in this storyline is somewhat like throwing Lana in the stones storyline by creating that ridiculous witch arc. If they wanted to have a Watchtower, they should have used another character (one who would be free to appear on a JLA spinoff when they try it out for this fall, since I am now sure they will). It was incredibly stupid to make all the heroes look like crap just to throw Chloe in this one episode as Watchtower when she will never be in that role again (at most maybe 1-2 more times). This really pissed me off. The JLA should be only about superheroes. The heroes shouldn't be dumbed down to need Chloe as every friggin character on this show is shown to need.

Clark - They once again showed him to be helpless just to promote the JLA. This sent me the message that the dude who is about to become Superman in about another year's time can not at this stage fend for himself from a bunch of jars filled with kryptonite. He should have seen those things from a far enough distance to avoid them.

Lois - She should have been just like Lana---out of the episode. The scenes with her & Ollie and her & Chloe just slowed down the episode. An episode like this that they intend to use to launch a spin-off should not waste any time with such stupid scenes.

Bart - They still portrayed him like a kid. They should have made him appear more grown up. I guess they plan to leave that for the spin-off. I can overlook this one.

Clark giving Bart's secret away - Last week everyone including me was saying that it was not Chloe's business to give away Clark's secret to Lana. Well guess what? It's no business of Clark's to give Bart's secret away to Chloe. Clark is more than able to help out Bart without involving Chloe.

Heroes playing terrorist - Heroes playing terrorist? Chloe using infrared to find out everyone vacated the building? WTF? She used Lex's infrared system against him? Huh? Lex even had an infrared system in his plant? Gimme a friggin break. What bulls**t!!! I just love how Clark went along with something he was totally against last year. He did the one thing Superman is NOT supposed to do---justify the ends with the means. Even if they really wanted to do this to stop Lex from using that facility again, they could have done it and made the JLA look like heroes. They could have shown Clark & Bart running around the site (Bart cover the kryptonite filled areas) to physically make sure there is nobody left inside than to have some BS impossible infrared scanner that tracks the entire friggin Luthorcorp plant.

The barn - This was a very stupid place to meet. What if Lex, or Lois walked in? C'mon!

What would have worked:

Chloe: She should have been instead doing research on 33.1 with Clark getting her info from stuff he learned from his mission with the team. If they really want her in that role, then commit her to it by changing her job. They could have shown Ollie send her to some hacking & covert ops school so she could fill the role of Watchtower. However, she would only see them in their hero disguises and not know their private identities.

Blowing up the plant - As I said, having Clark & Bart running around checking rooms to see if anyone was left would have been a much better thing to do than have some BS infrared scanner for the entire Luthorcorp plant that would be inaccessible to the JLA anyway. Instead of blowing it up, it would have been a great time for Clark to use heatvision & superbreath to melt & blow it to pieces/chunks.

The only thing that didn't really fit in the episode was Lois and the break up. Maybe at the very, very end it would have worked better.

I agree with xrayvision on everything except the whole Bart being a kid. I'm not big on the comics, but I'm pretty sure that Impulse is supposed to be a kid. Plus, Bart was a few years younger than Clark anyways.

The whole thing with Chloe being a superhacker is strange, but she has been for a few seasons now. So, instead of arguing it, I learned to accept it.

Ok, my head is together. I can finish what I thought about the episode.

1) Clark b*k*a* Boyscot- I thought he was great in this episode.

Lillie, you pretty much nailed down my sentiments exactly. But let me tag onto that

11) Bart- The way he called Clark "amigo" was too and they really lived up to Taco Bell's saying..."make a run for the border" for their Mexican burritos

12) Cyborg's eye special effects rocked my socks! My little bro and I couldn't stop oohing and awwing about how cool that was.

13) Chloe got way COOLER in this episode, for a second I wanted her and Clark to end up together, she works so well with the team!

14) I don't want the Justice League appearances to end...I rather have them them the whole Clana drama, that's overcooked in my book.

AWESOME episode...one of the best!!!

Click on the Director's cut and choose Smallville (if it isn't the first one).

They usually post the preview for next week by at least Monday, but the Director's cut usually 24 hours or so before the episode airs.

I liked it. It was good. I just wish the villian hadn't ultimately been a building.

Because there wasn't really anyone to fight except faceless guards it seemed a little empty in the end. Also, the place they destroyed wasn't 33.1 so they didn't even save the people Lex is expirimenting on but... it was fun.

I loved the superheroes... I loved Chloe working with the Justice League. It was fun. I loved the Chloe/Lois/Clark scene too. LOL!

i loved this episode. from beginning to end. bart's return = awesome. i liked how he was the first one to show up because he's the closest to clark. still didn't lose his edge. the minute he gets back, it's all about chloelicious haha. but u would think all the mention about jimmy would bring him into the episode, but no. i guess they had too many guest stars in one episode to bring him in this week.

i loved the justice league!! they worked great together, u could see that they were working together for a while b/c they all bonded like biffs and cracked jokes and knew "the drill" pretty well.

what i DIDN'T LIKE AT ALL = CHLOE. why does she need to know everything???!!!!! i know she's good at keeping secrets and all, but that doesn't mean she has to know every single one!!!! the jla is supposed to be their little group that no one else knows their identities. chloe is always acting as a little sidekick for everyone, and i'm sick of it!!!! and again with the super-hacking abilities. it takes her no less than 3 seconds to hack into the security in a TOP SECRET luthorcorp plant, 33.1 to be even more specific!!!

lionel = i cant tell whose side he's on. he's protecting clark, we all see that. but he's working with lex, willing to experiment on freaks. maybe he's just trying to keep an eye on lex, but he seems way too involved in this project. and that whole coverup thing at the end for clark was believeable and clever, but it scared me. makes u think that that's what he really wants. it wasn't just any plain story, it was in detail and everything!!! he wants to be with the kents, and that freaks me out. i still think that lionel can NEVER replace jonathan, not just for clark, but for martha. his story just showed how he wants to be a replacement.

i dunno, but clark annoyed me the most in this episode. the minute bart gets back, its 20 questions. where'd u go. are u stealing. from who, for who. EASE UP! i was yelling at him through the tv he annoyed me so much. he's so tense, he doesn't know how to lay back!! that's why i was happy he went to get the burrito  and then when he saw bart's picture, he automatically assumed that bart was back to his old ways. he never gives anyone a chance to fully explain.

the good things to focus on clark = his concern for everyone that might still be in the building. shows that the future superman is looking out for everyone, even if they might be his enemies. i also once again LOVED the clois foreshadowing in this episode. when clark walked in and saw lois holding up the bathing suit, his face was priceless. u could see the excitement in his eyes  its definitely obvious that he's got a little crush on her now, i just hope that lois starts doing the same.

i was sooo sadd to see the end of lollie. i was crying. i love them together, i thought they had great chemistry. but duty calls, and oliver is gone in a flash (hehe, FLASH, get it?...) the minute i saw lois walk into ollie's apartment with her bags, i knew she was about to be heartbroken. i just couldn't believe he would do that to her. if he knew all this was going to happen, why would he excite her with a vacation??? that was NOT the way i wanted it to end. and i'm really pissed she doesn't know about the green arrow side of him. she deserved to know. after hydro, when u can tell she wanted ollie to be the GA, it pissed me off he still lied to her. being a viewer from the outside sees that if he told her the truth, they would be a lot happier (i've been saying that about clana too, but now after seeing lana i'm happy that ship sailed.)

FINALLY, CONTINUATION! good ole nell returns.

one of the best parts of this episode = NO LANA. there was absolutely no need for her in this episode, and the writers finally saw that. send her to paris, and dont bring her back!! lolol.

can't wait for next week!!! :D :D

I DIDN'T YELL AT THE TV!!! thats progress my friends!! This was definitly the best episode this season! (then again, it didn't really have much competition, because all of the other episodes SUCKED majorly)

I agree with the chloe thing though. she didn't need to know all of their identities. for someone who spends a lot of time keeping his secret, clark feels just fine telling other people's. well, i guess he kept Olivers secret for a while.

I actually thought it was pretty bad, both in concept and execution. One witless line after another delivered in flat monotones, cheesy costumes, and more corn than the state of Kansas. And worst of all, robbing SV's hero of his credibility.

This was the GreenArrowVille that I didn't want to see, and that means dumbing Clark down to the point of embarassment so other characters could shine. GA wasn't so bad earlier in the season, because although he came in already in costume and on a mission, he was deeply flawed and something of a screwup, so just as with the proto-heroes before, Clark had some concrete guidance to offer him, and that preserved the balance of power. Here, everybody beats Clark into donning a costume and being proactive. And Oliver, who had come to admire Clark in "Rage", is back to being curt, rude, and dismissive. While Clark struggles, he's already formed a group and is battling Lex Luthor. When everyone else is competent in the 33.1 assault, Clark just walks into a kryptonite storage room and falls down. To top it off, SDK gives us Bart literally running circles around Clark. It would have made sense to have had Clark participate in helping Oliver recruit the other JLA members, because of the bonds he'd developed with each in earlier episodes, but all of that onscreen development is tossed aside. Oliver has inexplicably found all the same heroes, entirely offscreen. And in one of the weirdest screenwriting decisions in the whole series, Clark rats out all the other JLA members to Chloe, while apologizing for not having trusted her with the information before. So much for the superhero code, I guess.

The episode seems really poorly thought out when it comes to serving the hero's journey and the series in general. Part of the point of watching the formative years of this greatest hero is to learn how a person with an unusual ability would come up with the idea of adopting a costume and fighting crime in the first place. But by introducing these already-costumed heroes in the middle of the protagonist's journey, they've robbed us of the opportunity to find that out. The answer apparently is that he'd do it because other people were already doing it. That's disappointing and unsatisfying, and leaves Superman bringing up the rear, not setting a standard.

Justice League is a badly written, badly directed, badly acted episode. It is utterly embarrassing for Smallville to come to this point. A Power Ranger episode had more sophistication, drama and excitment than this episode. Lois and Green Arrow look like they are reciting lines to each other. Lois has no ability to capture the moment or feelings. What a huge letdown. Smallville should end in Season 6. The series had about four or five years of interesting intepretation...it is silly now.

I just thought it was good. For some reason, I liked Hydro better, but I'm not sure why. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but it just felt like something was missing and a little rushed to me. I hated the shot of them slowly walking away as the building exploded, too cheesy, and Clark walking into a room filled with kryptonite(you'd think he'd figure out not to walk towards any glowing green. Anyway, those were the only two things I hated in it, I'd say, for me, it was the second best of the season.

Actually, I believe Oliver Queen has a satellite with infrared capabilities. Not entirely unrealistic since such satellites exist in real life. So I don't see any problems with Chloe using infrared to see that the lab was vacated.

So you are against the idea of heroes using bombs to blow up a villain's evil laboratory, but you support the idea of Clark using his heat-vision and superbreath to demolish that same villain's evil laboratory? Are you suggesting the heroes are "terrorists" if they use bombs to destroy a building, but they are heroic if they use their superpowers to achieve the same goal? What hypocrisy is this?

Other than the above points, I pretty much agree with you, xrayvision. Chloe didn't need to know about the superheroes' identities, and it sucks that Clark didn't discover costumed crimefighting on his own. I always thought he would be the first crimefighter. Having Green Arrow show him the way of the costumed hero really turned Superman mythology upside down.

okay that was a great episode.
Not that I couldn't have said this at the beginning of the season but Lex isn't turning bad. he already is bad.

I think someone has a crush on Lois.

Now as far as the end of the series I think the PTB should drag clark's phantom criminal quest till the very end. So that his "training" as well as his departure from everyone else will begin and that is when the show ends.

He will have developed a love for Lois.
And when he does start his trainning he will still be thinking of her and planning his return to the daily planet.

On top of that, I think one of the last scenes in the show should be Clark seeing his suit for the first time just before the credits close.
Possibly wearing it at the last min then flying away.:)

this was a great, GREAT episode. One of the best in the series. After seeing this episode, I kind of hope that after Clark becomes Superman at the end of the series, they create a spinoff with him and this Justice League. now that's what I'm talking about! this is the best episode I've seen in years ... hey question, do they have anyone to do tom wellings hair on smallville, or does he just wing it? and bart, please give this kid a spin off, he's fracking awsome! he'd get killer ratings with just his personality alone.

meh.

it felt like Ollie's team and Clark his sidekick. It was a kick ass episode until Clark once again was the second/third even fourth fiddle. I understand this episode was more to promote what might be a spin-off, but for me not showing superbreath, even heat vision, heck even xray vision was a flaw. Once again Ollie takes the cake and Im sorry...hes not batman, and they should stop promoting him like one.

dissapointed, big time.

I'll give it an 8.5

It was fun but not much action and plus no other secondary bad guy to cause at least some trouble made it feel kinda like it was missing something.

But overall I thought is was as un Geust spot filled episode. And I want JLA the series. Or at least Green Arrow the series.

Man this episode made me a Green Arrow fan again :). JLU and SV have done great versions of Olliver :).

In my opinion, this episode was really great! The opening of the show was pretty interesting… For a second there, I thought Clark was the one who saved Chloe but it turns out to be Bart!! I love his outfit… And then Clark chasing after Bart was cool!! I loved that scene very much!!

The scene where Bart interrupts Clark and Chloe’s conversation was one of my favourite… I like it when Clark indirectly told Bart that Chloe has a boyfriend… Clark knew that Bart would hit on Chloe if he didn’t tell him… I see Clark knew him really well… I don’t think Clark’s jealous by that because we can see him smile when Bart kissed Chloe’s hand (Sweet…) ehe… I found it annoying that Clark didn’t trust Bart when he told him that he’s changed… yeah, he had his reason…

Lollie’s scene was really hot and I feel sorry for Lois when they got interrupted… It’s like Lois & Clark all over again… With all the interruption… And I think it’s sweet that Ollie suggests them taking a vacation… Sweet…

Bart and Martha scene was sweet… I loved it… Bart does eat a lot huh? And I like the fact that Clark act all brotherly towards Bart…

The scene at the talon was sooo hilarious… When Clark barged in the apartment with Lois showing off her sexy see-through teddy was funny! She said something like ‘what if I’d been naked’ that was amusing considering that he already seen her naked… haha… And then Chloe told Clark about Lollie’s vacation… She had this mischievous expression on her face… I believe she wanted to see Clark’s reaction to that… I was surprised when Clark told Chloe about Bart… But I know he had his reason (BDA's reason)… I loved Chloe with her laptop… I think it’s awesome…

Oh no!! Lex set a trap for Bart! Clark and Ollie scene in Ollie’s place was serious… whoa… And AC and Victor showed up, it’s really cool… 4 gorgeous guys in the same room… Niceee… I love the chemistry between those guys… Ollie ‘did he just say something nice about me?’ bit was soo funny… It’s nice to know that AC still remembers Lois… ehe…

I loved Chloe and Ollie scene… I see that Ollie’s not pleased with Clark’s decision to tell Chloe about them… I love all the action in this episode!!!

I really feel sorry for Lois… She was so excited to spend time with Ollie… Her being all teary with the whole situation made me cry… It’s so sad… I love Erica Durance here!! She’s a fantastic actress!!

And it’s nice to know that Lionel kept Clark’s secret from Lex…

I loved the ending of the episode… Love Bart!! He’s so hyperactive!!! And funny!!!

‘This isn’t the end of the story Clark, it’s just the beginning… come on boys, lets go save the world’ I love that quote… perfect

Clark made a right decision not to join the team at that very moment…

I love this episode!!! I absolutely loved it!!

i thought The Episode was great, it is the best Episode of Smallville ever, i really did enjoy it alot, my Favorite Scene in the Episode, is when Clark sees Cyborg and Aquaman again, and i really did like the Scene where Clark, Flash , Cyborg, Aquaman, and Green Arrow was out of the Building and the Building, Blows up, and i also like the scene where Clark is telling Green Arrow, that before he join the Team, he got a problem to take of first, i can,t wait till, next weeks Episode it is going to be a great Episode, this is the best Season yet.

Great Show-just missing a few things
it had action-which this show has been missing lately (nice explosion & slo mo)
Lionel reappeared- I miss him, especially when he treats his son like crap :D
Clark actually had some male bonding-I was getting worried, now he just needs some female companionship
Lois wasn't overbearring and when she was on, I felt bad for her-getting dumped and dragging that 100 lb bag around. (she will at least be open to listen to Clark instead of him bouncing his ball by himself)
No Whining about NOT BEING TOLD THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(it is sooooooo refreshing not to hear that EVERY week

missing-
Lana (just kidding)
Martha-I would have liked to seen Martha proud of her son, even though she would have been scared
Shelby-I am beginning to think that Shelby suffered the same fate as Tiger from the Brady Bunch and that is why we don't seem him anymore. (Tiger, the dog, taken home by the trainer, was run over by a car after just a few episodes, so all you saw was a dog house on the show and that was covering where an overhead light burned the Brady's astro turf in their backyard

I thought this was the best episode of the season, and easily top 5 overall. It certainly left me wanting more, and not that excited about next week's episode, though, since the rest of the Leaguers are gone.

Here's me hoping / praying / begging for a spin-off, WITH Clark.

I do agree that Clark needs to show off his powers a little more. He seems to constantly need saving.

This episode was great. The only problem I had was when Clark did not believe Bart and was going to get his bag. He should have x-rayed the bag first, not tried to grab it. That is my only complaint. I really loved how before the building blew, Clark had to make that decision, Should I let it blow up or should I stop Oliver. I like that he came to the decision that it had to be done.
He definitely took a leap forward in becoming Superman. As for people saying that it looked like he worked for Oliver, well in this case he kind of did and it makes sense. The others have been a team for awhile and Clark was new to it. In the end, Clark will lead the team and that just shows how much respect he will get.

I had been waiting for this episode from the first hint of a spoiler and it did not disappoint at all.

I will not get into a long review of every scene but I loved the Impulse character and his dialogue. The scene with him and Lex was classic. It was also good to see a truly evil side of Lex. I read somewhere that he was channeling the Kevin Spacey version and I agree wholeheartedly.

The jokes the League made about each other was funny and not as over the top as some have mentioned. If you get a bunch of guys around that's what happens. It worked.

Glad Lana was out of the country....nuff said.

I am wondering what Lionel's role is moving toward this season. Is he bad again or is he just playing the role to get close to Lex for Clark and Martha's sake. He did blatantly lie about his involvement in 33.1 to Clark's face but then defended him at the end when Lex was getting close. I hope we see something more of this before the end and the writers don't just let it fade.

The end scene in the barn was awesome! Clark is beginning to see the big picture but understands he has a duty first. The "Let's go save the world" line from Ollie was fantastic!

Over all I will watch this episode over and over (if not for anything for the Flash parts) and I give it 9.5 out of 10!

Can't wait for next week...looks great!

Crazy4Smallville's Weekly Review 6:11 Justice

Oh man, was this awesome or what? I think I've waited six years for this episode. There's only two more that I have to wait for now: Clark to put on the glasses and show up at the Daily Planet with Lois Lane and Superman to don the red cape and fly. I can't wait!!! But, then again - I can. Because that would mean the end of Smallville - and I don't know if I can take that.

I LOVE, I LOVE, I LOVE how Clark involved Chloe in what what going on and Oliver called her 'side kick'. She totally deserves it. Man, what I wouldn't give to be in her shoes.

I loved seeing Bart again. He grew up on me in just two years, but he's still just as cute as ever. I love that little 'sly' attitude he has. I'm not too crazy about the name Impulse, but knowing they couldn't use Flash, I suppose it was okay. I think perhaps Lightning or Thunderbolt would have sufficed, but Impulse is original, I suppose. I love his zest for life and his big appetite. I love the way he flirts with Chloe.

I loved seeing A.C. again. Still just as charming and just as sexy as the last time I saw him. He should leave his shirt off more often, however, I wouldn't have like to get one really good shot of him in his orange shirt. I do have to say though, I don't really know what his part was in the rescue mission. Was it just to gain access from a different direction. I seemed to have missed his mission. I love the 'fish jokes' comment. Hilarious.

I loved seeing Victor return as Cyborg. Man, does he get hotter every time I see him. It was sad to hear about his relationship with his girlfriend fizzling out, but everyone knows that you can't keep a superhero tied down. But, I'm wondering when he's going to fall in love with Lois? I mean, AC's had his shot, Oliver just blew his, Clark's coming later - so there's still time for Victor and Bart (though I think Bart's got his eye on her cousin - another of Clark's loves.) It makes me think - what does it take to make a superhero fall in love with you? Lois, Lana and Chloe are three completely different women - yet they have an appeal on the superhero/villain kind. Poor Victor... glad he found his reason to live.

I think Oliver/Green Arrow - gets sexier every time I see him. But, this time - his dark, ominous eyes had me almost crying at the end. You really felt the love he had for Lois fight against the passion he has for Justice. I liked seeing him in this leadership role. I suited him, even better than that green leather outfit he sports.

Which reminds me... I loved ALL of their outfits. But, I have to admit I was scratching my head after the explosion. While I was tingling all over seeing the League, I paused for a moment, because it looked so out of place. You had everyone decked out in their new outfits - Impulse, Green Arrow, (CLARK KENT?), Aqua-Man and Cyborg. Clark just didn't 'look' super - he looked like your average farm boy who got caught in the wrong picture. He should have at least try to throw together some sort of disguise, especially after Lionel just warned him about being exposed and being careful - and got the feel of what it was like to hide behind a disguise pretending to be the Green Arrow. It just seem to deflate the moment a bit.

This mission wouldn't have been the same without Chloe. She was awesome. Man, I'm so jealous. If I could pick a character to be, that'd be it - even if she isn't in Clark's life later, she's so totally awesome now. Allison Mack is just awesome in that character, much like how Rosenbaum has changed my perception of Lex Luthor. I never thought much about Lex Luthor, writing him off as a idiot, but Rosenbaum has made him a formidable opponent for the Man of Steel. He's broken all the molds before him - and I doubt that could be filled again.

I really felt for Lois. She seems to be attracted to the hero type, which I can totally relate. I hated seeing her get her heart broken, but she's not alone.

I'm sure there is MUCH, MUCH more with this episode I'm leaving out, but I'm really quite speechless. It was that good. I really hope Smallville brings us more of these - or else the show creators need to start working on the new Justice and Metropolis series.

Till next time,
~Crazy4Smallville

I give it a 10.

It was the best episode so far this season.
I loved all of the action that went into the episode. As well as how Clark found people that acually care about saving other people as well as saving the world. And how he was apart of a team, Instead of him just trying to save everyone on his own. This was a very well put together episode. I'm very very happy with how it turned out.

You know, the one thing that prevented me from enjoying the episode as much as I hoped to, was the sound quality. I don't know if it's a CW thing or what, but I've been noticing this odd background static that garbles the sound for me a bit, and makes the dialogue hard to hear. Does anyone else have that problem?

I loved this episode!:D :D Start to finish it had me on the edge of my seat. Loved seeing Clark working with other guys the way he did last night. Don't get me wrong, I love his relationship with Chloe, but this was great.
Loved this even more because my kids were just crazy over everything that happened in the show last night. They all about freaked at the end when the guys were walking away from the building. It's too bad the 'boy scout' didn't have something different to wear though.:( (so that's my only complaint:) )
Loved seeing Lex step closer and closer to the dark side. His interaction with Bart was great!!
I really was impressed with the exchange between Ollie and Lois there at the end. I thought that was such a solid performance between the two of them. I liked how Erica played that. She seemed very Lois Lane to me.
I just hope that we get more great episodes like this one. Really a great night of tv for me!!:D :D

I loved the episode. start to finish. I thought clark WOULD xray the bag, but he didn't. and the whole episode had me screaming, "Would a ski mask be to much to ask?" some type of cover.

I liked the hang-out scene in ollie's apartment. and the respect this episode showed chloe was great. I think this was probably my second fave episode ever, definitely in the top 5, but then again, most episodes are in my top 5 the day after they air.

GREAT episode! Definetly one of the top 5 of the show! I think this show definetly ranked up there this week along with 24.

I want to address a few points. First to those who had some complaints, then to say what I liked about the episode, what I thought could have been different and what to do in the future.

You know what, in JLU, the government pretty much new the identity of all the Justice Leaguerers, without anyone telling them. They learned it on their own. So, I dont see why an allie like Chloe, who has proven her loyalty and has been a HUGE help for the future leader of this group, shouldn't know everyones secret and help them out. She is a good hacker. The other guys have super skills, but they could use some brains like Chloe.

As for her being a hacker... Its not farfetched that Chloe can hack. I was hacking at a younger age than her. Err... Not that I do it anymore. Whew! Anyway, lets face it guys, as super hot as she is and as loveable as she is, she is a NERD. She would know how to hack into a site. Also, about her hacking into so many things, once you do it, the second time becomes a snap!

Yeah, Clark seemed to be a sidekick to Ollie and it turned the Superman mytho upside down. But thats ok, this is a new story, in a new universe. The story worked. And it worked great! Eventually in the end, Superman will be the leader, along with Aquaman, Wonderwoman, Batman, Green Arrow, The flash and now Cyborg and maybe some more. Who knows!

Lets remember, there are like 9 or more main story plots to Smallville. Its not all about clark. Remember, the show is called "SMALLVILLE", so it is about the events that take place there and with characters from there. That is the main theme. The second main theme is about a boy who would become Superman and the adversity he faced in becoming him. Then, since these are all in Smallville now or at some point, the show is also about Chloe, Martha, Lionel, Lex, unfortunately Lana, Shelby, Lois, etc... And since Green Arrow came to Metropolis, formed a sort of alliance with Clark and supported Martha Kent in her campaign and is fighting against Lex, he has had a Big important role on Smallville. Thats why it was appropriate to call it "Smallville: The Green Arrow Chronicles", (Or was it Oliver Queen?).

Its like 24. Its not all about Jack Bauer. He is a big part of the show, but it involves other characters too. So I think Ollie had as much right to be in Smallville as Clark did. And he had as much right to having a lot of attention focused on him as any other members of the cast, except Lana.

Now on to what I liked about the episode... EVERYTHING! It was fantastic. The FX was as good as it could get for their budget. Chloe and Lois were hot! Lana was gone. Lex was as evil and witty as ever. I think this is the third time he tried to kill or torture a member of the Justice league(Not out of protection or accidentally). First AC, then Cyborg and now Bart. It was pure Lex Luthor! And Lionel is keeping me guessing!!! Even greater. The whole Justice thing together was also great!

What would I have done differently? I would have played around with nicknames for Clark. Maybe Impulse could have said something like, "We should call you Steelman!" as in reference to the man of steel. Or even Chloe saying something like Super Hunk as in reference to Super Man.

Another difference would have been to atleast get the words league and Justice together for their name. They could have said something like "We should call it the League of Justice!" And Cyborg could have said: "Its ok, but it needs a little seasoning."

Another thing to have done was to have Clark use more of his powers, specifically Super Breath, Xray vision and Heat Vision. They did numb down on his powers alot this season. Clark knows how to use them, he should use them. This is not like a video game where he has a meter and at a certain point runs out of powers!

Another thing would have been good to see some more of the 33.1 guys. We could have had an all out battle between the leagueers and Lex's League of Evil. Oh well.

Bart could have made some reference to the Flash by saying something like "Oh come on Clark, they didn't see me, they saw a FLASH!"

There are some things to do in the future though...

For one thing, maybe the gang could take a trip to Gotham city. Not necessarily to meet Batman or Bruce Wayne. Jus to go there. They can also go visit Star City. Maybe they can meet up with Ollie again.

The justice league must return in the future with some new characters. I would love to see the Avenging Angel in it. Other characters are also of course Wonder Woman and Batman. But maybe also Dick Grayson, or Speedy as Ollie's sidekick. Martian Manhunter is another good choice since he is now on Smallville. Green Lantern is also another choice. If we had these guys, the main JL team would be complete.

I wouldn't even mind having Zatana in there forming a bit of a love thing with Clark.

But we also need some more villains to come into the story in the future. We need to see Zod and Brainiac again. We need to also see Darkseid. I think that he is a very important character in the Superman Mythos. Miss Tessmacher and Otis and Mercy need to also come into Lex's life at some point as a good nod to the cartoons and the movies. And some other villains already on the show need to come back as well.

Metallo also needs to make an appearance, even if it is only as John Corbin. Parasite is also another good choice for the show.

Some actors to come in? Lex and Jimmy from Lois and Clark, Dean Cain, Terry Hatcher, Kevin Spacey, Gene Hackman. I know this would be a dream, but if it were to happen that would definetly boost the profit and ratings of the show.

But I really think we need Bruce Wayne/Batman on Smallville. Atleast a mention or huge reference other than Gotham City. I mean you could make a crappy episode, but putting in just a reference would make the ratings go up and the fans to like the episode more.

And I am sorry! But even if you are making movies on Batman, why could you make a cartoon show about him and not put him briefly on Smallville? Or why can you have a show on Superman and make a movie about him too, but not put Bruce or Wonder Woman or anyone else becouse of the movies they are making? ITs just plain stupid! It wont interfere and it wont ruin anything. If anything, it will make Smallville and those characters much more popular and at the same time boost sales of movie tickets to go see those super heroes.

Ok, I am done now. I would like to encourage everyone to keep posting what they thought of this episode. TPTB are reading and will listen to what we want. Believe me. How else can Webmaster craig get spoilers and interviews with these guys?

Okay, this episode was over-hyped a lot. So much. So, unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype for me, but it still was a very good episode.

The Good

*Bart, Cyborg, AC: Characters that I have enjoyed in the past.
*Something for Chloe to do
*More vunerable Lois
*All Lex and Lionel scenes (have I missed you so!)
*No Lana (I don't hate her but...nice break)

The Bad
*Cliche
*Many scenes were forced just to get snappy dialogue
*Rushed feel, like TPTB were trying to fit too much into it.

Overall, it was a good episode. It was nice to see Chloe in this "oracle" type role. If it is true that DC has bought her, I hope they can do something with her along these lines. I want Chloe to live on, but as more time passes, I just don't feel she's a good fit at the DP or as a reporter. I can see her being a researcher, a writer, and helping out her superhero buddies. I really enjoyed her as their go-to gal.

I know there have been some complaints (and valid ones) that Oliver makes Clark look bad since Oliver takes his hero business very seriously. I do see that Oliver takes it too far though, and that loss of the human touch, the heart, is something that Clark brings, ironically, to the team. We already know that Clark does not approve of Ollie's methods and he's the one to absolutely make sure at the end that no one is left in the building before it blows. He's not happy about it, but his main priority are the lives of the people. This is the future Superman. And when Clark matures more I can see him coming to lead the Justice League. I really thought that was a nice touch.

Kudos with continuing to flesh out Lex in ways that show he is evil, but he truly believes he is doing the right thing. This makes him much more interesting as an up and coming villian. I love the way Smallville has handled Lex overall, aside from a few flubs, and I look forward to see him continue down this path. He absolutely shines when he is in scenes with Lionel. We need more of those.

It was also nice to get away from shippy angst in this episode. We had Oliver and Lois, but it was a small part of the story. If it was bigger, it would have hurt the episode. Lana wasn't it in so we didn't have to touch upon that triangle, though I look forward to seeing her next week. I didn't see any Chlark ship at all. I didn't even see any Clois ship, either. I saw Clark being protective of Chloe as usual, and also just wary of why Bart was really there. With Lois, I did see a change with Clark where he was more flustered around Lois. And when he walked in on her and she said she could have been naked, he just smiled. S4 Clark would have acted differently. I liked that Clark obviously felt some proectiveness for Lois as well. He is known to do that with everyone in his life. So while I do sense more changes in Clark in how he relates to Lois, I do not see this as shippy. But it was nice :)

The Oliver and Lois breakup scene was weird for me, though. I don't feel like there was the right build over the season so far to make that break the way they did. There should have been more of Oliver taking off on her or show Lois getting more upset over it. Because it made it feel tacked on in this episode. Granted, we all knew it was coming, but I just thought it was a bit rushed and made Oliver look bad. Maybe it was went to make Oliver look bad. I don't know. My biggest problem is that Clark is seeing how Oliver messed up with Lois. He knows he messed up with Lana. Maybe these lessons are what finally propells him to reveal to Lois way way into the future. You would just think that with everything he sees, he would know better. But it also highlights that Lois would have likely accepted Oliver even after he tricked her. Which makes their breakup even sadder.

But it was nice to have a break from ship, ship, ship and get to some action. Again, not the best episode, but nicely done.

And I cannot wait for next week. Whee!

I thought this episode was brilliant, probably my best of the season so far....

The story was good and made sense with what was important at the time, i do not read spoilers or anything so it was very surprising for me to see the other heroes come in, and i wasn't disappointed. I think with the way they handled things it had a good effect on Clark and he can think about how he goes about doing things.

Cut-out the hollywood snapshot of them leaving the building blowing up and some iffy moments of acting, the episode was damn good.

I agree - I think that Clark matured a bit towards the end of the episode and is a bit more focused on what needs to be done.

Loved it.....loved loved loved loved it.

The Good
~some bits were corny and cliche...but I think it fit in well with it. I laughed as they were doing the whole line-up walk away from the explosion...but I loved it just the same.
~the return of MB!!! I still have no idea what's going on and it excited me
~the end of lollie and GA. I liked having that arc this season, but I would have hated for it to be over-done like Clana to a point where I would hate it. It was ended like it should have been and at a really good time for it. (I liked having Ollie around...but this is Clark's show....he got the kick-in-the-butt he needed....time to move on)

The Amazing
~return of the hott guys!!! But seriously, I loved the earlier episodes with these guys (Run being my all-time fav) and was so happy to see them come back. The dialogue was great and the quick back-stories made sense. Perfection
~evil Lex!! "I want a ponytail."....awesome line. Finally we're getting the Lex we've been waiting to come out full-time.
~Boy Scout....oh man I laughed at this one. So fitting....not too revealing....and funny. Plus the hints at "you couldn't pick your name" (and the same for Impulse) was a nice poke at the copyright stuff.

10/10...I loved it

The good:
- finally, some decent Lex and Lionel scenes...hinting at whatever is Lionel up to and the usual amazing chemistry between the two
- Lex and Bart verbal sparring
- Lex without Lana - that relationship is the worst for both characters since there is little consistency behind what's motivating each of them...
- just enough backstory and continuity was presented for each returning guest to put each in the story, but not get bogged down
- the way Olver and Lois fell apart -- unlike most other relationships on the show the problems were straightforward and the resolution followed along with everything that happened in their story prior to this breakup, if only...

The bad:
- Erica Durance's Lois really has very little range when it comes to portraying deep, romantic and emotional moments. I love the way she does snarky, obnoxious, passionate about right and wrong and humor, but I really thought that all the romantic chemistry in the Oliver Lois scenes comes from Justin Hartley. I have found her to be stiff.
- the total rip of any Alias mission scene with the "com" badges though I realize this was a way to use all the superhero names, but it must be said!
- Clark's dependence on Chloe to solve any problem and now the fledgling JL has to include her in their first op as well? Her role has become way too elevated on this show this year. Loft scenes have been replaced with Daily Planet resolution scenes -- she just keeps popping up unneccessarily and I don't get it. I used to love Chloe, but her role in Clark's life is too dominant and pushed aside the impact of every other major character on the show.

I loved it and thought the show was well thought out and put together.

All the actors were great and glad to have a Lana vacation.

I was just a bit dissatisfied with the way Ollie broke up with Lois. I think she deserved more than that. I felt bad for her and thought her acting was good. But with her being pushy with Ollie, I could see her be a bit more patient with future Clark.

Well, I must say that my 14 year-old son thought this was the best episode ever. He thought the whole Justice League thing was cool. I enjoyed it as well, although it really did not live up to my expectations. I can't even tell you why it didn't--just an overall impression that it was a good episode but not great. I liked Hydro better. I guess it was all the character & relationship development in Hydro that I really enjoyed.

I love Chloe and don't really care if she "shouldn't" really be included in the Justice League. I just think that Allison Mack does such an amazing job with her character and I enjoy almost every scene she is in. It seemed like she was really in her element as the "Watch Tower."

I'm going to miss Oliver, mainly for his interactions with Clark. They seemed to have developed a respect for each other and the beginnings of a friendship even if they don't always agree with each other. It was nice to have a guy friend for Clark. I heard that they are thinking of bringing Ollie back near the end of the season even though that was not part of the original plans.

Loved Lois's comment about her relationship with Ollie being "all interruptus and no coitus." That and Lex's comment about wanting a pony tail had me ROFL.

Quite honestly, unlike many others on this board I rarely watch an episode of Smallville that I don't like. Granted there are some that are better than others but I usually find something about each episode that I enjoy.

Overall I'd give this episode an 8 or 9 out of 10.

Impulse??? Impulse??? What are the SV writer's doing to the Flash's character? And what is this about copyright? Aren't both Superman and Flash DC characters? When I was growing up, it was Barry Allen not Bart. Sounds like someone's got a Simpson's fetish. They've completely trashed the character. In the comicbook, he would have vibratedright through the walls of the cage. Maybe he'll find that ability later, so I'll give the writers that one.
The episode was ok. Typical SV trying to do too much in too little time. Felt like I was watching a season premiere.

Impulse is a DC char. He's in the Teen Titans comic. He's related to Barry Allen somehow, his nephew I think.

Impulse, not Flash. Yes, both Flash and Supes are DC characters, but that doesn't mean that AlMiles have carte blanche to use whatever DC characters they want to. Cases in point: Batman and Wonder Woman. They probably would love to use them, but can't. Similar thing with Flash, I'm sure. Can use a superspeedster, dress him in red with a yellow lightning bolt, but they can't call him "Flash." And let's not forget, Flash's real name is Barry Allen, not Bart Allen. Wikipedia does list Bart Allen as being Flash since 2006 though.

Hey, wait a sec. "Run" was broadcast in 2005, wasn't it? Or was it 2004? Either way, that wouldn't that make Smallville where Bart Allen premiered as Flash?

And now that you mention it, Ollie's like about Impulse not getting to pick his name may very well have been tweaking the DC suits' noses.

And for all of the Chloe naysayers, I would say that Chloe and Clark are a team at this point. He's the muscle, with the occasional lack of brains associated with them. She's the brains, and has enough game to win an occasional fight or two. Yeah, I know Supes is supposed to be a solo act, but we all know Clark's not there yet and girls mature faster than boys. Either he'll grow into her (the Chloe=Lois theory) or he'll grow out of her. Give it time.

Frankly, Batman would be a train wreck without Alfred. Chloe may be more involved, but she's a lot easier on the eyes.

This was an episode that made me realise i was following the wrong hero. Clark was an absolute embarassment, full of speed strength and the rest, he was floored by a room of kryptonite, opening the door would of sufficed, but you don't have to run in. He has no intellect, he almost appears to be a jock or something, oliver however absolutely ruled the roost, he had the plan, the help and the gadgets, and where the bag of muscle failed, Ollie succeeded. a round of applause for GA. Clark is becoming a joke, he shouldn't have been leading that march away from that exploding building, he should have been next to Bart with GA leading. This was a hard episode to watch, don't tell your friends about it, it'll make you think twice about the future Superman.

As harsh as this review was, you gotta love the honesty lmao.

I must say, that I loved this episode. And yes.... you do have a point. They even over did it, with Clark being hesistant to blow up the place. Besides making sure no one was in the biulding before it blew, he had to question and think about it first before Green Arrow made a comment about stopping Lex from continuing to use that location for further experimentation. I mean Duh...did Clark plan to report it to the police? How many times has Lex and Lionel erase all traces of off 33.1's existence when the heat was up?

I could totally understand how Clark taking a rest to shine, and the JL being the center focus for the show, but they already limited Clark to cameo appearances on his own show the majority of this season with Oliver being the main star. But I'm glad they atleast let Clark save Bart from running to death.

I have a feeling the reason for Lex's fall from however much grace he has left at this point, will be due mainly because of Clark. Lionel being more fatherly to Clark than Lex (loved the look on Lex's face when he was told Lionel was having dinner with Clark); Lana leaving Lex probably to be with Clark. Should be fun to watch.

I also found it ironic that at the end of "Aqua" last year, Clark made AC promise to stop blowing things up, and here Clark is a year later with AC and the others, assisting in blowing up a whole facility lol

This was actually close to the comics as Clark tends to depend on his thick skin to keep him out of trouble. As Bruce is fond of saying "Clark tends to lead with his chin." And when they pulled a body switch he commented on the plethora of powers dulling one's intellect and reflexes.

I loved it. It was fantastic.

I so wish Ollie would get his own spinoff. And Lois can go with him. (I'm a Lois/Oliver fan).

I loved the camaraderie (even if their banter was really weak). I loved the talk about what they were about. I love that they didn't need Clark to tell them to clear the building before blowing it up. I loved Chloe totally in on it. I loved that when all the others left, it was Chloe still by Clark's side. I loved Bart cleaning the kitchen.

It was just great.

GA is definitely my favorite of our guest heroes. I think JH can act, I think he has a great "strong" or "firm" or "dedicated" (sorry, I can't think of the right word) when talking about the hero stuff. He's not always right and I don't always agree with him - but I respect that he's doing what he thinks is right and that he's actively out there doing something and helping people. I know some people think he's a little heavy-handed with accusing Clark of waiting for things to come to him, but since I've been saying the same thing for at least a year and half (probably longer), I'm not too upset about it, most of the time. He's certainly no more pushy than Chloe was in early season 5.

Sorry, but Bart has never really done anything for me. I just don't care about him. Don't dislike him (much). But his silly spanish-y talk irritated me. I loved him best when he was cleaning up the kitchen - I guess I just don't like the attitude he has. It just feels like he's a kid, acting like he's cool or tough, but really isn't, and his act is overblown. He's just not my cup of tea.

I wish we'd seen more of AC and Victor (and darn, I wanted Victor to still be with his girl). I really do think a two-hour ep would have been better. They were really basically cameos.

Like seeing how Luthorcorp is covering up stuff. Lionel's just made Lex hate Clark more. He better fill Clark in on the pot roast.

Chloe was very ILL in the beginning to me. She had documentation, and showed that man that she knew what he was up to, and had evidence to support her claim (note that evidence is not the same as proof - it may take multiple pieces of evidence to constitute proof). And she was persistent and wouldn't give up. And almost getting killed for her story and figuring out something - that ILL. Still can't believe he planned to shoot her in a public place, though. I mean, this was no deserted alley. We know other people were there (you can see their silhouettes behind Chloe, through the glass). Guess the fellow wasn't thinking straight.

I like Clark pushing the message that you can't lie to someone you are with. If he's learning that lesson now (and I surely hope he is), then how the hell can he go backwards and go back the lying later?!

I love heroics, and this ep had them. I love guest heroes and ensemble casts and teamwork. And, although not a DC fan, I am a comic geek, so this was doubly cool. And we had our cheesy comic-geek references. Fantastic ep.

I hate to admit it, but you're right. Pretty frank, but right. Isn't Clark supposed to be this "Superman"? So why is he being all p***y about blowing up a place that houses information about meteor freaks? Seriously, this show isn't called "The Green Arrow". Give Clark some limelight!

That is what Superman does. He is a paragon of virtue and won't do something as drastic as blow up a building without very good reason and maybe some convincing. Even then, he is going to *make sure* that everyone is out of the building before blowing it. This code of conduct is one of the things that sets Superman apart from the modern heroes who are all about vigilanteism and the ends justifying the means.

Even in the comic book JLA the Green Arrow and Batman are the brains, Superman is the moral authority they all answer to. So I see them in Smallville quite in character. Clark always depending on his thick hide and his powers, and the G.A. doing the thinking and plotting.

OK, walking into a room full of kryptonite is classic BDA Smallville mode, but he does similar things in the comics. First he gets a trashing, then he starts thinking and comes back with a plan how to fight his adversary. Of course he should have started thinking by now.... :D

The scene where Clark makes sure that there is no one left in the building before he lets G.A. blow it up: I think it´s really important because it shows the moral difference between Clark and G.A. Oliver had no problem shooting a guard in the back - Clark would just have knocked him out.

And about Clark´s screentime in "Justice": The JLA is all about teamwork, and so was the episode. No complaints from me! Of course this couldn´t have been all about Clark when there are 5 superheroes!

I didnt think the whole hesitating thing was out of character(ooc). The only OOC thing i thought Clark did was be so brute to Bart when he came. All Bart was trying to do was relax and convince Clark he's a good guy, and Clarks all like "Yeah, gimme proof. I dont believe you".

Superman always sees the good in people. This Clark was abusivel judgemental. Hell, he was nicer to Alicia when he saw her again.

True, but this Clark didn't spend the night with Bart in a Honeymoon Suite. ;)

The whole thing about making sure everyone was out of the building was completely in character imo, but I agree with afireinside 100%. I thought the exact same thing after watching the episode. Heck, I was calling what stupid thing Clark would do next. He was just so useless to the entire team, with the exception of when he saved Bart. But any one of them could've shut that thing down if they didn't have to rescue Clark too

And on top of everything the whole strut of walking infront of the exploding building - I agree afireinside, I was also wondering why Green Arrow wasn't leading. He was the one calling the shots and everyone was following him. I don't think for even a second GA wouldn't have blown up the building even if Clark didn't agree with him.

Cornelia

But if you wouldn´t have had Clark down in that situation, what would the JLA have to do? The JLA was supposed to shine in this ep, so TPTB decided to get Clark some kryptonite and let the JLA rescue him. I think it was due to the plot. It´s still BDA but for a reason.

i have times been disappointed about clark being a big dumb alien.

but i think you are being a little too harsh.
the show is still about clark's journey to superman.
i don't think we will see clark saving airplanes, catching helicopters, and solving complex crimes.

baby steps. the writers and production are not ready for clark to run justice league.
the whole building not the just room was probably lead lined, so he was blind.

I read these post and I don't want to pop everyone's bubble ... but .... Clark looked like a whiney dufus. Truth - justice - and the American way. The JL formation was cool - but in agreement with earlier post - where's Superman's lead?

If the writers read this .... geez guys - how much scr**** are you going to do with the character and the "reinterpretation?" Have you ever heard "if it ain't broke - don't fix it?" I read the other day a time line including all the changes DC made over the years. It really is silly. And the "alternate reality" show coming up ... is Pamela (Lois) going to wake up and find Bobby (Clark) in the shower?

The guestcast and Chloe looked prime and having fun - I'm with the other writer - let's move on - oh and if we're looking for the Zoners - then spend the season doing that rather than all this other stuff.

Everything is probably in the can now for the season - and if there is a 7 - I hope to God in heaven that somebody gets a brain - has a revelation - and we move back (like DC did time and again after making changes) to the original. The no lying - Truth, Justice, and the American way - larger than life - saving everybody's butt - Lois falling head over heals for the guy - superhero that (when the person playing him) suffered a personal tragedy - everybody felt it.

You do that gentlemen - and America will watch. Kids will watch. Teenagers will watch. Adults will tune it - cause right now - America needs a hero with character and ideals high and above our current leadership.

One more thing - since I'm on the soap box - I have to give credit where it's due ....

The last scene with GA and Lois - that's what I'm talking about -

"There are things more important than what I want - than what I love .." or something to that effect. That is what super hero's are about - in the comics and real life - they set aside themselves and work for the good of others. That was (to me) THE line of the episode.

Now for the whack - why didn't Clark get that line with Lana earlier? That's Superman - that is the Son of Jor-El. That's the spirit, essence and character of the last son of Krypton. "They are a great people. They need someone to show them the way." The other JL's follow his lead as he sets the standard. THEY need someone to show THEM the way.

"Love of my life - I cannot do anything to bring you harm. I refuse to lie to you. But there are forces at work that I have to stop. This is a thing I have to do - nobody else can. And if I don't - I and the rest of the world will regret it for eternity."

Soap opera? You bet. Life is a soap opera. The Hero's are the self-sacrificing people. They do it everyday.

Where is Superman?

I Loved this episode. I felt i got a good dose of action and a good story line. Some of the dialouge was ok.
I dont quite understand but Clark just seems like he is unhappy with anything that happens. GA had a point....if Clark wants to fly solo then he should be more careful....which Clark responds back point taken. He didnt seem happy about the whole situation. He would have rather taken Bart out and just left. I got the point that he didnt want people getting hurt when they wanted to destroy the plant. And the last scene when they are walking towards the camera Clark doesnt look relieved or like they did something good...more like a mad look.

In any case i loved this episode. Im also a GA fan so i will miss OQ being gone I think he taught Clark a lot. However maybe we can start Clarks training and he may return back to the FOS.

when i first read Birthrite, it re-ignited my passion for superman, he became more of complex hero who was very intelligent and compassionate being. smallville has just made him a mass of bungling steel with no intelligence, without Cloe he would be buggered. thinking about it annoys me, because i never look forward to episodes anymore, they're mainly filler, with too much kryptonite and its all done and dusted in one episode.

This episode was really bad IMO. Oh from reading one of the post above, if you go back and look Chloe said that the room that Clark was going into was lined with lead.

Clark asking Chloe if everyone was out of the building was stupid. He could have viewed the whole building with x-ray vision while he supersped around the building and made sure himself. Then if he really wanted to define the "blowing up" his heat vision and superbreath was be more than enough to blow away this building.

Oh did I mention that the dialogue was horrible when Cyborg and Aquaman came in to explain how they met Ollie?

I loved this episode. It was nice to see Clark interact with guys around his age who have similar abilities. This way, he shouldn't feel like such an outcast. They understand so much of what he is going through, including the loneliness. I hope they do more episodes focusing on the Justice League.

Ok this is my review - from someone who has gone over this episode 3+ times last night:

This was an all action episode that was most probably targeted for todays kids who like things to happen fast. In that sense it delivered very well. For most of us grown ups we probably wanted a little more dialog etc.. - and I am guessing thats why we need things to be explained better with better dialog thats fits in the missing gaps. We want to see the reaction and understanding fully when certain secrets are revealed rather than things happening very fast.

First of all I thought the scenes with Clark and Bart were very complete the writers did not miss much out in that area. Many people have argued that Clark should have x-rayed his bag and all but had he done that then the story would have to had taken a different plot line and all. So we have to get use to the idea that Clark ain't gonna use all his powers to solve a mystry - otherwise Smallville shows are not going to last long.

I thought Lex was just brilliant in this episode - ladies and gentlemen - the Lex Luthor that is portrayed in Smallville is the real deal so forget Kevin, Gene, John's portrayal of this menacing character - I think MB has mastered it fully now.

Although I though the scenes with Ollie and Lois were a little too long - they were necessary I suppose and yes I did feel sorry for her but all knew it would never happen. In many ways the breakup (like many of you have posted) is gonna make Lois the sort of women we know she will turn out to be when Clark/Superman meets up again with her in the future.

Lionel was his brilliant self again and still I have no idea what he is upto - protecting Clark at the same time as getting involved with his son. So the plot thickens surrounding Lionel.

Chloe - I loved in this episode - she played a part in the league's work like she does with Clark nearly every other episode. I have no time with the idea that Clark should go off with Chloe but I can accept her as his best friend - and even Clark/Superman needs friends and help - remember he was not raised on Krypton but among humans with human values and emotions.

I thought Green Arrow was good except for those scenes where he seems to constant bark on at Clark for not being pro-active - surely by this time in the timeline of Smallville, Oliver should know that Clark does his bit and is doing his bit. There was no need for that - treating him and talking to him like he was a teenager in a bad mood. Lets face it - Clark has been saving peoples lives and carrying a heavy burden for a lot longer than Oliver has - when it comes to the hero business Clark is the more experienced. As Oliver himself has said in the past episode:

"I'm not even in the same league as Clark Kent"

I think Clark should have at one stage told Ollie his complete background and what happened with Lex, Zod and all that stuff so he could understand that Clark Kent cannot go off on a crusade of Justice just yet.

The one thing that Oliver shares with Bruce Wayne and even Lex is a coldness when it comes to completing a task - which was demonstrated by his plan to blow up the building. In that moment we see the future Superman - concern for the people in the building who may get killed. That was a good moment.

I have already said that Bart was brilliant in the scenes with Clark and I really like the character. It was good that the writers kept the conversations between Cyborg and Aqua down to mainly humour - I think we can all agree that he was not that impressive in Aqua.

I think the best scene in terms of the group been together was at the end in Clarks barn. I loved that scene where the others walk off and Chloe says:

"You know.. you have some pretty amazing friends Clark Kent"..

Clark says and turns to her:

"Yeah ... I do".

the music as the guys walk out of the barn and the camera focussing on Clark and Chloe was spot on in the history of smallville.

So overall - rate this a 8/10 and it is in the top 5 of all the best episodes of smallville.

We should also not lose site of the fact that the superhero characters in this league were not THE main characters even though it had DC's TOP hero in Superman. We all know that the Green Arrow, Cyborg, and Aqua do not have the same high level attention as Batman, Wonderwoman do. What we saw was a mini/minor justice league starting and developing.

I enjoyed the episode. Overall, it was enjoyable, with good performances by everyone.

Flash/Impulse: Same character as before, except for the whole Spanish thing. That was a bit annoying, wasn't it? But he's still faster than Clark, and full of bravado but grateful for Clark's help. As for his 'prison', he apparently hasn't worked out the speed=power or reached the speed that he can vibrate or phase through solid objects like Wally West did, so we'll assume that was a 'great' trap.

Cyborg: Good character, too bad they couldn't show any cyborg parts other than the glowing red eye. I liked his lines, not too many but that fit with kinda quiet character from his origin story.

Aquaman: Seemed barely there. Only had a few lines, and didn't seem to exude his cockiness like he did last time. Probably the most disappointing writing for any the characters, except for Clark. Would have loved to see more between Aqua/GA about Lois.

Green Arrow: You have to admit, for the only guy in the group without powers, he holds up pretty well. Its a shame that once the others all peak, GA will be left in the dust. I'll be sad to see the Ollie character go. Why is it that I feel like I learned more about his character in a few episodes this season and saw more development than I've seen with Clark for the last 5 1/2 years.

Clark: Lame. Opens the lead door to the lead room and walks in full speed, not noticing the radiation first thing? getting pinned down so easily? I know he's the boy scout, and always has to do the right thing, but in this episode it was as if he was supposed to be the voice of caution, and he came out sounding lame and weak. It was like he was still a child watching the men be heroes. Still too much whining from the character. I know Tom Welling can do better, hopefully the writing will allow him to develop.

Chloe: Can we say integral part of the team? Either she's going to go down in history as the only normal person knowing every hero personally, or she'll have to pick up some powers somewhere along the way. That way she too can belittle Superman in his own show.

Lex: Classic, nothing special.

Lionel: cool defending Clark, I keep getting this feeling that he's gonna end being that Guardian character. You know, the sentinel guy that was a construct or machine of Krypton that posed as Superman in the comics when he died? In the service of Clark, as long as he does right. But then again, he's a Luthor, and they only care about one thing: Power. He'll probably reveal himself before too long.

Lana: wow, was she hot in this episode or what? I see they've already completely moved on to Lois, and then next episode Clark will be pronouncing his love for Lana again, then they'll be over and Clark will want...

Lois: now seriously, I would have cancelled any and all superhero and business plans to go on that trip with her. OR let her tag along. I wouldn't give that up, especially if I knew Clark was gonna end up with her. Too bad there was no more development after the 'Kiss'.

But again, no fighting, just running around hitting guards, and that's a wrap. Did Clark ever use any of his powers in this episode for any good?

I really loved this episode, more than any in a long time. It showed what superheroes are supposed to be about--saving the world, not engaging in teen angst. Anyone can be angst-ridden. Only superheroes can save the world. I do have a few observations, however.

1. What was Aquaman's function on the team? He was supposed to go in first, but by the time he got there, GA & Cyborg had already busted the door down. Then he was supposed to meet up with Cy, but they didn't do anything when he did. The only role he really played in the operation was to show off some awesome shirtless beefcake--absolutely necessary for any crimefighting team. That would normally be Superman's role, but let's face it--Superman's lookin' pretty puny next to Aquaman. Besides, Superman was busy dying from Kryptonite, which he does better than anyone else. Interesting to find out that Aquaman swims faster naked. Damn! Why did they cancel that series? :rotfl:

2. Flash's chamber of death--Holy deja vu, Batman! We've seen this before. Villain captures hero, but instead of just putting a bullet through him and getting rid of him once and for all, he devises an ingenious contraption to bring about the hero's demise. Then, after putting it in motion, he doesn't stick around to make sure the job gets done. Good grief! Doesn't Lex ever watch any TV? He did have the presence of mind to unmask Flash while he had the chance. I never understood why Batman was never unmasked, even though he was captured at least once a week. Oh well, I digress.

3. Green Arrow is the only one so far to get the whole costume thing right, vis a vis the tights. You other guys wake up--superheroes are supposed to wear tights!

4. Glad they pulled a Superman III deal with Lana and shipped her off to a foreign land. Didn't need her.

5. I'm liking Choe more all the time (in season one, she was one of my least favorite characters in anything, at any time.) I really liked her in this. She really took a positive, major role.

6. It was wise having Bart constantly trying to hit on Chloe. Otherwise, there were some definite gay vibes between him and Clark and also between him and GA.

As I said, overall I really liked this episode. I hope they do more like it, whether they include the JLA or not.

Totally rocked! Tom looked more like Superman than ever, and the whole show took on a comic book comes to life feel. Gotta watch it again.

It was fun and entertaining to watch, but one of the most cheesy pieces of crap I've ever seen on a noncartoon TV show. How many million times has the "heroes walking toward the camera as explosions go off behind them" shot been done in TV and movies? CHEESE I was laughing through the whole episode. Aquaman and Cyborg are so obviously gay for each other. How about that line he said to Cyborg about "you're lucky I left my pants on." Huh? Why was he thinking of taking them off? GAY GAY GAY

The so called Justice League is a gang of terrorists who committed too many crimes to count. And their idiotic goal is to save a bunch of psycho meteor freaks, so they can get loose and kill thousands more people, as they've already been doing for years. At least Lex is trying to round up these mutant homicidal maniacs and get them under control. Somebody should have done that years ago. It would have saved many lives. Looks like Lex is the real hero, and these "Justice" idiots are a public menace.

I think if "Justice" were done in two episodes, we would have gotten a lot more explanation and understanding about Lex's motives and Level 33.1's purpose. I feel we didn't get to know the villain of this story. Too rushed.

I think it is interesting, though. You advocate rounding up these "mutant homicidal maniacs." And personally, if I were a person in the Smallvilleverse, I would advocate it, too. But Lex was experimenting on them, a decidedly immoral thing to do. And when it comes down to it, those meteor freaks are people, too. Clark has certainly met some who were nice, peaceful, helpful people. Should they be locked up too?

Coyote

Yes, I think they should all be rounded up, registered, examined, and monitored. Such a large percentage of mutants have been shown to be mentally unstable and prone to homicidal violence that it's obvious that the meteor radiation tends to have an effect on the mind as well as the body. The small percentage that show no signs of being dangerous after a thorough investigation could be released, but even they should still have people periodically checking up on their whereabouts and behavior. It is actually a good thing that Lex is doing testing and study of these mutants. That is the only way to find out more about them, learn if they are dangerous or not, and figure out what to do about it if they are.

"They should be rounded up, registered, examined, and monitored."

I hope you realize the art-imitates-life quality of that sentence. That sounds surprisingly like actual government policy being suggested today. Not trying to start a political discussion here; I'm just making an observation. I actually wish the show would get more into that, i.e. the political allegory of being a peaceful metahuman (or superhero) and hunted because a majority of superpowered people are murderers. What happened to their rights? Where is the Justice?

You think it's ok to test people like lab rats against their will? Kyla, Alicia, one of the brother's from Hug, the black guy from Jitters, the exploding baby, Ryan (if he was a meteor freak), Byrone from Nocturne, the kid who thought he was an alien from Visage, the girl from Slumber, the kid who could see people's deaths, the old lady who could see people's future, and um.. Shelby are meteor freaks and they were fine (for the most part).

Why should they be tested on against their will. Why should anyone? Lex probably tests them the same way he tested Bart..

Hey, there, Raging Clue. I recognize your username from my "Fallout" thread. Interestingly, my other fanfic, "Metahuman" - the production of which is temporarily halted - deals with superpeople and lab testing and the political allegory of all that. If you're interested...

P.S. "Metahuman" is a sequel to "Deliverance", which was a sequel to the season 5 finale.

I hope I don't get kicked for going off-topic.

Yes, it is absolutely OK to test these people against their will. The issue is not so much political as it is medical. If a person was running around carrying a deadly plague the Center For Disease Control or some other appropriate agency certainly can detain, quarantine, and test these people as a matter of public health and safety. If the person refused to cooperate, they could and should be taken into custody. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Lex's studies turn out to be legitimately funded by the government, just as his Leviathan project was in Aqua. (and Leviathan was also destroyed by "Justice" terrorists) Lex is doing a public service that is saving many lives.

Alicia, Kyla, and Earl Jenkins in Jitters were all violent psycho cases who attacked and terrorized innocent people, so I wouldn't say they were "fine." Even a supposedly "good" meteor freak like Andrea was a murderer. A very small percentage of meteor freaks appear to be harmless, so far. But they should still be registered and checked on now and then just to make sure.

Raging Clue
01-20-2007, 10:48 PM
So every single one of them should be abused like Bart was? Leviathan was not backed by the government. It was being tested by Lex in front of a government official who may have been interested in buying it.

Alicia's issues had nothing to do with her teleportation ability. So as for meteor freak, she is fine.

Kyla never killed anyone. She barked at Martha and the construction worker who shot a flare gun into a gasoline tank (yeah, he was a genius).

Earl Jenkins killed a guy by accident. If Lex had listened to him, he could have helped him.

Who did Andrea murder? Who is Andrea?

"Justice terrorists?" I can't help but to laugh at that one. I mean, yeah, we all know that Superman really has a hidden agenda to conquer the world

I went with an eight. The episode was awesome and better than what we have seen. We got to see Lex being Lex and not "lexana" (which by the way combining the names of the characters is really weird but to each their own  ). I am really confused as to who Lionel is really siding here with. Seeing Flash... er... I mean Impulse hanging with Clark was cool again. The one thing I thought was out of place was the fact that Clark was going all persecution-like at Bart. Dude relax. Batman is suppose to be the paranoid one. Can no one make Aquaman interesting without water being around? All in all, the episode was good and hopefully this will propel Clark into becoming a hero and getting over his insecurities. I couldn't give it a 10 just because I thought some of it was rushed and I was half asleep when I watched it because I had just come off of 24-hour duty. Oh well. :)

What I have a huge problem with this episode is that now Metropolis is in Kansas where there is nothing but FLAT PRAIRIE LAND AND NO WATER? That map of Metropolis that Ollie showed was a city with a huge body of water near it. Kansas has no huge bodies of water.

Excuse me there is one large body of water near Manhatten, KS.

I think anyone from Kansas would tell you that state has no huge bodies of water. If you look at a map, Kansas is in the middle of the USA, roughly equidistant between Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. The writers think they're smart by spinning out a new Smallvillian continuity and saying Kansas has a huge river available for giant cargo ships and the like. I don't think they have any idea how dumb they look.

I found this on Wikepedia which imo is frickin stupid of the producers:

In the Smallville television series, Metropolis seems to be located in Kansas or in a neighboring state. In an interview, the creators of Smallville have stated that Metropolis is approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) from Smallville. In one episode, a letter is shown with the address "Metropolis, KA," suggesting the city is located in Kansas; however, the United States postal abbreviation for Kansas is "KS", not "KA." In another episode ("Fallout"), a map is shown with "Metropolis, KS" clearly labeled; it's in the southwest quadrant of Kansas, somewhere near the real-world location of Dodge City, while Smallville on the same map (marked with a star) appears to be a couple hundred miles to the east, near real-world Wichita. The zip code for Metropolis, Kansas is given at different times as 66632 or 66624. Another possibility for Metropolis is Kansas City, which sits on the Kansas/Missouri border.

In filming the series, Vancouver stands in for Metropolis.

note: In a direct contradiction in the Superman storyline--it has been said that Smallville fits in with the movie series storyline, however, in Smallville, Metropolis is in Kansas, and in the movies, it's on the east coast.

Dumbass producers. They contradict their on crap.

I can see it's fiction, and you have to suspend your disbelief about alien spaceships and superpowers, but a giant river in Kansas?! A fiction has to at least follow it's internal logic.

DC's geography is a little strange, IMO. Superman is set in Metropolis. Batman is set in Gotham City. Both have always struck me as stand-ins for New York City. In fact, outside of the fact that they say it's two different cities, Gotham City and Metropolis are the same place.

Smallville, however, is in the heartland of America, and that would be Kansas.

Internal logic? If we can create a planet named Krypton and rocks that give people super powers for no discernable reason (the whole radiation = super powers thing is one of the most illogical things in all of comicdom) then why can't we add a giant river to Kansas? That's more logical than 50% of the DCU if you ask me.

The episode was a highpoint for the studio, giving them the highest ratings all season long. It will clearly be remembered as one of their best ever. It was a very ambitious episode with lots of ground to cover.

I'm glad that they didn't try to cram in meteor freeks to this first episode. Instead the show made it very clear that a showdown of some sort is coming.

I'm upset that the show resolved too many conflicts between the characters rather than leaving more drama between them left to be resolved. The episode began with Boyscout (cute name) telling Chloe how he is the only one able to track down Zoners and 33.1 Freeks. In the middle Ollie/GA dramaticlly yells at Clark for "waiting for things to come to him." And in the end Clark says "Remember that problem I told you about? I have to get back to work on that before I join you". As a result, offscreen Clark told Ollie about the Zoners. Possibly his own intergalactic travelor status is revealed.

I felt like the only thing left hanging was the stuff saved for the end of the season, the showdown. Their relations are all cemented and smooth.

I was also hoping to have a seen where Ollie/GA says "You two knew each other? Is there anyone that you Haven't met yet? Are there any others you know?"

I also missed the scene where Aquaman came down that metal grade and fought the guards waiting below. How could he do that? I know he is strong, and "I wonder if his weapons work on land too. Just like Flash is faster, I hoped that Aquaman would be strong enough to really shake clark's hand without him needing to hold back. They could have a moment together.

While no episode has ever been perfect, and my thoughts are my own, I did enjoy the episode and look forward to the rest of the season.

Gotham has come up twice, and we now know it is in view of a penthouse from downtown Metropolis. Waterfreak might have been boasting. Ollie mentions having Star City be his home base for Queen Enterprises. And we all know that Smallville is a suburb a few hours drive from Metropolis. A helocopter makes the journey from castle to Luthorcorp in an hour.

I speculate that any future hall of justice will be in a building adjacent to luthorcorp and their computers will be luthorcorp-created. Lex will abandon that building, which will still have its Kryptonite storage facility in use. There was a small pool of water in front which Luthorcorp used to secretly connect their facilities. Now AC will have access to the atlantic through Washington DC (a few hours from new youk and metropolis.

Just speculating

The problem with Metropolis being in Kansas is that is just not so. Look, I can go along with Smallville being a re-imagining of Superman but the only reason Metropolis was put in Kansas was so the writers would have another city to play around with. Notice now that most of the stories takes place in Metropolis and not Smallville? Seriously the writers should have thought about this at the beginning. If they wanted a shift in location then they should have just made one. Other shows have done it and while some have failed others have succeeded. I think Smallville would have succeeded. Metropolis is suppose to be a major city with major oceanic ports. The movies and the comics have it this way. Having Metropolis in Kansas first is just unrealistic no matter how FICTION the show is suppose to be. Second, there is no way a city like Metropolis could even grow in Kansas. I am from Oklahoma and so I know the rate of industry growth and commercial growth around these areas. It just wouldn't happen.

I agree, landlocked cities do not grow to the size Metropolis, take for instance Lubbock & Amarillo Texas.
Both cities are fairly large and exist on mostly agrocultural products grains & beef production then add in the oil.
Lubbock decreased in population after the air force base closed.
Wereas cities such as the capitol Austin it is sustained also by business as well as agroculture and oil.
Now look at Houston, the fourth largest city in the country. It is located near the gulf, it has not only agroculture, but international shipping and oil.

There is no way a city such as Metropolis could financally exist in landlocked Kansas.

I grew up in the panhandle of Texas (Lubbock/Amarillo area).
However, for the sake of fanatasy and the Sci-fi aspect of Smallville, I suspend my rational reasoning for the story.

Another example is Marvel's Blob is susposed to be from Amarillo where he was exposed to radiation at a nucular plant.
There is no such plant in the panhandle.

Well for those geographically challenged (which I didn't see the map) ... Smallville - set in Kansas - has two major twin cities set on a river that has ocean access. Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO. There is a large lake not far from KC,KS and Martha must be close to the capitol - Topeka to make her meetings as State Senator. The entire metro area is home to about 1.75 million people and is actually dotted with lakes. Kansas - on the eastern side is quite hilly and not as flat as the western side. Both KCKS, and KCMO is home to several major corporations - including some with international reaches and one billionaire in particular who recently passed away who contributed greatly to the growth. He happens to own a series of caves just outside the city that house numerous businesses, etc.

All that said in the TV show a trip by Clark and Lois to a mining town in Texas was around 3,000 miles away so go figure ....

In Superman Returns - Ma Kent is in the crowd at the hospital when Lois goes in to see Superman ....

But when it's all said and done - who cares? It's a TV show!

It was ok, though it felt choppy and rushed. I didnt like how helpless Clark was because I thought I thought he would be leading the fight. Since Ollie was the leader, he should have been in front when they did that walk from the burning building. Clark didnt earn that right yet. He went rogue and didnt even want to be part of the team. Clark should have done more to lead the team and organize the fight.

The whole thing was that Clark isn't a team player. When Ollie told Clark that he waits for trouble to be on his doorstep, Clark wanted to prove Ollie wrong and rescue Bart by himself. I think it was foolish how Clark opened the door, saw Bart wasn't in there, but still walked in. Then the big bad jars of Kryptonite (which he knocked over and broke) had him down for the count.

Ya know, when they blewup the facility, didn't the kryptonite stored there get spread all over the area and the vaporized and spread into the air float over the city?

Vaporized Kryptonite aparently gives you super strengh if inhaled.

There are going to be a heck of a lot of freaks running around town now

I never even thought of it that way. I guess they just over looked it. Just like the ship getting infected with Kryptonite and exploding all over the Kent farm and highways nearby.

It seems the writers think literally only five minutes ahead of each scene...

Waterfreak was exagerrating. Just like Chloe's not literally working below sea-level, Linda wasn't literally working in an office with a view of Gotham.

It's great to hear Gotham being mentioned on the show. Quite possibly, Batman may be begining to show himself in Gotham City ala Green Arrow in this season's Smallville. I would like to think Oliver Queen and Bruce Wayne are working together in some way. Ollie may have other operatives besides Impulse, Cyborg, and Aquaman. Who knows? Maybe, Bruce (since he has more money) is financing the whole deal. It's possible. We do got three mega rich people in the DC Universe ( by that I mean Lex, Bruce, and Ollie).

I don't see why she would be exagerrating. I never really got into Batman, but Metropolis is in an unknown location. I thought it was supposed to be in Ney York, but since it's not, maybe she can see Gotham. And if Chloe is in the basement (which she is), then that's below sea-level.

Waterfreak was exagerrating, well, because she was. Gotham is not in Kansas, Al/Miles have given us no indication that it is in Kansas. Linda Lake was exagerrating to make a point and I don't think there's really any question about that.

Evern *if* Gotham was in Kansas, the likelihood of her being able to see to it would be next to nothing. Another reason to indicate it was an exagerration.

I have learned not to "review" an episode after I have only seen it once, I find the emotion and not reason ends up being the reviewer.

the first time I saw Justice I was "ok" with it, wasn't great but it did have action, though Clark seemed a secondary character, heck at times a 3rd or 4th wheel actually.

So I saw it again.

If I didn't know what Clark could do, this episode would have made him come off as practically useless and a step-behind everyone else.

Is this Clark Kent that oblivious to the world around him?
That "easy' to trap?
He needs to be saved ? he needs Lionel to cover for him? he takes second place to a "non-superpowered" human? ( and 3rd and 4th place it seems).

And yet, at the end, the building exploding we see a close-up of the one character that did the LEAST in this episode...

Ac telling Clark that they need the "big Guns" was almost a joke, what did he do this episode?
Yes he saved Bart, which equals to "better than nothing" when compared to the rest that was done by the others.

It was a nice "superhero" episode, but, to me, it just highlighted most of the things that I dislike about Smallville:

Clark kent the secondary Character.
Clark Kent the "not-so-super" man.
Clark kent being pushed into action.
Clark Kent trying to be proactive and NOT haveing much success.

Chloe was her amazing self, Lex showed that he is playing Lana like a piano, Lionel was, as always, the true master manipulator, Oliver is gonna be missed and Lois...was the person that Oliver was breaking up with to pursue his distiny ( hint, hint Clark !).
