growth as an actor AND a director!!! this was a really good episode, what we watch Smallville for.

and it was great to see the improvement in Tom's directing and he did a very good job directing himself as well as the other actors, as well as staging and composition and all the elements!

it's so sad the Academy just ignores the CW (WB) because it's not in as many markets to get the ratings. the emmy noms mostly only go to the top 10 shows.

Smallville is very deserving of being nominated and this is just another example.

when Smallville is bad it's still better than most of the shows, but when Smallville is good, it's AWESOME and very high quality!

I like Tom's directing too, but if it means an almost Clarkless "Subterranian", than I prefer not. I do like that he's been givin those opportunities and I'm sure he'll continue to do well. I just don't want Clarkless eps.

Yes I agree. Tom brought out the best in all of the cast members. And the scenes where edited well. The story flowed coherently and smoothly. Sometimes SV stories could be so great except that poor editing makes the storytelling rather awkward.

I hope that the episode that MR will direct will turn out as good as Tom's.

It's easy to say that many actors/actresses are just relying on their good looks to get by, and it's also very easy to put Tom Welling in that category. But I think he has proven that he's more than just a pretty face.
