"See I highly doubt that she'll say no Clark, now that she's carrying my child."

Has the Clark-Lana-Lex love triangle turned Smallville into a soap opera? Or are they just turning the intensity between the characters up a notch?

I'd like to see a little less focus on the love-side of things now, and more hero stuff in the show.

lol I agree, even the camera angles, how they zoomed in on the face reminded me of soaps

It's a drama, of course it has soap operaish qualities. Those moments are a part of the show and always have been. Nothing has "turned" Smallville into anything, IMO, it's the same as it always was.

I'm loving all the drama in this episode. Most of the time I groan at the Lex/Clark scenes, but the one tonight was awesome.

Well after tonight, stay tuned for the new version of "Lexana Chronicles" entitled "All Our Children".

It suuucked. Those Clexana scenes lasted so freaking long at the end.

They buttered everyone up with the Clark, Lois, and Chloe Happy Smallville Friends...so they could ambush us with the Soaps.

Justin should feel very at home.

When Lex told Clark that she was carrying his child and then they went to commercial, I did feel like I was watching a soap opera. It's probably because TPTB stole a script from their favorite soap opera and in the soap opera, they went to commercial too right after the character said, "She's carrying my child." They loved it so much, they put it in this episode.

I'm starting to have a hard time enjoying this show. How can you go to Lex mansion to talk with Lana about the newspaper?

How about calling her on her cell phone!! But wait...this will prevent a scene between Lex & Clark AGAIN at the mansion.

Is it to much to have a Clark & Lana (relation blablabla) elsewhere then the barn??

Yes this show has turn itself into a soap opera. I'm 26 years and when I watch smallville its to get my fix of superhero :) not to watched "OC/Superman"

I guess you have to use some of the dramatic cliches you use in any dramatic TV show

but yeah the only time you see any one use the phone in a dramtic TV show is to plan something evil. :D

I'd rather have good drama, and more dialogue than lame action with week freaks. I'm glad the focus of this episode was the main cast, and I'm glad Martha and Lionel weren't in this episode. They really aren't needed anymore.

You know, as I was watching that I was thinking to myself "Is Clark that stupid?"

The Clexana stuff is very soap opera-ish, and not very entertaining, IMO I don't think it makes any of the 3 characters look very good.

But get them away from it, particularly Clark, and get him involved with Chloe, Lois, Ollie, or even a random guest star, and, IMO, he's awesome more often then not.

And I just can't take Lex seriously at all when he's involved in Lexana. He's just too pathetic for a super villian in training. Clark I can cut a little slack for, since he's younger, first love, childhood sweetheart, not very experianced or worldly. But Lex? Wow Dude, you're just sad.

And Lana? I have no clue what goes on in her head. Really, no idea.

Lex definitely came across that episode as a total loser. i mean the guy needs to get some friends his own age or something, stop being such a shmuck and start acting more like the evil sociopath that everyone wants him to be :)

I see why people are saying tonight was very soap opera-ish. The thing that really pointed that out was with Lana and all the roles she plays and does so on the fly so quickly.

She was so untrusting of Chloe, which was rightly so considering the circumstances. Then forgiving which was good, but probably because she realizes Chloe is the only person she is friends with, but getting really cold, calculating, and almost psychotic with her once she realized Chloe knew Clark's secret. I am glad Lana didn't actually ask Chloe to tell her, she must have known Chloe would never talk.

Then she's the girl next door with Clark, desperate to know his secret, which felt like she was almost playing a card really. That got to me. It was almost fatal attraction-eske to me. She comes in, tells him she needs to put her relationship with him into context, then begs Clark to tell her his secret which isn't about their feelings for each other as you may expect the conversation to lead. All the while keeping the secret of Lex's baby from him. The interesting part was to see her reaction when Clark revealed he knew her secret, and she looked almost, defeated, as if she knew that there wasn't any chance of getting Clark back or knowing his secret. Soap-opera-ish, lol.

I wonder if Lana will tell Lex that Chloe knows Clark's secret...
