This show isnt, and has never been very good.

Ive been watching buffy and angel, moreso angel, and there is no comparison.

With angel, I havnt had a bad episode through 3 seasons so far, not 1. The story is excellent, and the fight sequences are well choreographed. Whats better, is you know every episode angel is going to kick someones ass, hes not gonna pussy out and use a crystal to trap some villain in.

Smallville cant even hold angels jock strap. If you dont believe me, just watch it for yourself.

Bored to tears by Buffy and Angel. I don't give a crap about the characters, never have, never will. Smallville I always have and always will love. I care about everyone on the show, from sometimes-whiny but always-heroic Clark, to poor-little-rich-boy Evil Lex. In fact, even with great shows like Heroes, Jericho, The 4400, and Supernatural; Smallville is still the only show that I refuse to miss a single episode of.

Ditto on hating buffy+angel, Buffy had too much mindless repetitive fighting without decent character development, and as far as Angel I consider that unwatchably dull, JMO.

i was a big Buffy fan the first 4 seasons, then it turned into rubbish. Angel i think sucked.

I never cared about either of those shows. I may have caught a few glimpses while flipping the channels, but nothing interested me on watching more. There was no "how will it all end up" suspense for me as there is for Smallville. I was always interested as to how Clark & Lex would become enemies based on their start on this show. Unfortunately, they screwed up, but I still like the show (not as much as I used to love it a few years back) and it is still redeemable. I loved season 5 until they disappointed everyone. But I still would watch Smallville any day over Buffy or Angel, which I thought were and still are way too overhyped.

I never watched Buffy. I tried once but it bored me too much. I had seen some episodes of Angel (thought it was more interesting than Buffy) but it too was a little boring. I like Smallville but if it wasn't for the Superman connection, I probably wouldn't have tried to watch it.

If you watch angel from the start, there really is no comparison, i suggest you all give it a shot.

I like smallville, but compared to angel, we really are getting cheated as far as quality goes.

I've seen Angel, I've seen the start, I don't like it, and I like Smallville better. There's a huge comparison, in Smallville's favor, IMO. You should really accept that plenty here don't like the show, rather than suggesting we just haven't seen it "from the start."

Buffy and Angel? Please, they're a joke, if you're going to compare at least do it with a worth while show like "Firefly", if that show was still on, I would seriously consider watching it over Smallville in it's current condition.

If you don't like Smallville continue to watch your angel, which of course only made it to season 4.

And Smallville which is still going strong in season 6. Sure, it has had it's share of bad episodes, but so has Angel and Buffy.

I really liked Buffy until season 3, after they introduced Faith, I totally lost faith in the show. She was a horrible character and to me ruined it. And with Angel, they started throwing in way to many storyline's which eventually would confuse you with what was going to happen next.

I am sticking with Smallville.

Really? So the angel season 5 dvd set I have on my shelf is made by fans?

I, like you, was a fan of buffy until season 4 or so, I didnt like them making willow into a bull dike, that was rediculous and completely ruined the show for me, no one needs to see that type of trash,

Angel on the other hand was consistently great. through 5 seasons i havnt run into a bad episode.

I bought season one of angel on DVD. I couldnt even get through the pilot it was so boring. To me, Smallville is way better. Better characters, better plots, better acting. Much more energy.

Angel was so boring I sold it on ebay.

I'm a huge Angel/Buffy/Smallville fan... I think its just down to personal preference when it comes to these shows; but I do believe that Angel/Buffy are better written than Smallville, this does not take away from the fact that Smallville is a very good show for the most part, its just not in the same league of writing.

Though it's important to remember that Smallville and Angel are very different shows... while there are people who love both (like me :D), I can understand why some would find the latter boring. In my opinion I always found the characters on Angel/Buffy more immediately likable than on Smallville. But as I said its comepletly subjective.

(And the WB were complete morons for cancelling Angel... Not Fade Away is the best series finale I have ever seen! Now I'm going off topic, so yeah!)

Because it's not directly related to discussing the "Smallville" show but rather just a comparison.

I TOTALLY agree. Smallville is a cheap, empty replacement for the near-perfect tv that was buffy and angel. I only started watching smallville when angel was cancelled. I also agree with your implication that angel was better than buffy; buffy did go downhill in the last couple of years whereas angel maintaines quality throughout.

I consider myself a smallville fan, its one of the few things on tv today that I still watch and look forward to. But I can count on one hand the number of smallville episodes that are equal in quality to the *average* episode of buffy or angel. Comparing smallville to angel is like comparing buttered toast to a pizza. Unfortunately, there is no pizza anymore and I'm hungry, so toast is starting to look better and better.

I was kinda forced to endure Buffy & Angel and while I found some episodes to very well done it really can't hold a candle to Smallville. I think the reason is Superman is just so much more accesable. Eveyone is somewhat familiar with the character. You say Clark Kent before he became Superman people get it. Try to explain the convoluted storylines and character arcs in Buffy & Angel and people go "uhhhhhhhh?"And for my money I'd rather have Blade backing me up in a vampire situation [Snipes incarnation not the Spike T.V. one] than Buffy.

Buffy was simply great untill season 4 and not even Smallville can ever compare to that! Angel was likewise great untill season 4, in some ways even better than Buffy, and likewise it surpasses Smallville in several areas! I mean, don't get me wrong, Smallville is currently my favorite show and it always was on my top 5 list to watch! But while Buffy, Angel, Charmed and Alias were on tv, Smallville was never the top 1. for me! That place was always reserved for Angel!

Another WONDERFUL show was roswell, that show was really great. It didnt have alot of action, but it didnt matter, the characters and story were so wonderful you didnt even notice.

Buffy was cool until it became UGH. The beginning episodes of Angel weren't as sweet, but as the stories developed, I loved it. Angel would be a good contender to Smallville, that's for sure.

i LOVE angel and buffy. great fighting and action, and on top of that both shows are full of crime, drama, mystery, horror, comedy, and just about every single other genre you can think of.

if you liek fighting sequences, you should check out alias.

Those were great shows even if the last couple seasons of Buffy and Angel dind't excel, season 4 of Angel pretty much sucked to be honest, the first three seasons of both shows were simply stellar! Like you said, they had it all, crime, compelling drama, mystery, horror, comedy, great characters etc... And as you say, Alias was great as well, as far as rolemodels the writters of Smallville could benefit from those three shows!

Where's the "Buffy" love? Seriously, I LOVE "Buffy." I don't know why, but I just get so wrapped up in this world that Joss Whedon created. "Angel," on the other hand, I'm having some issues with, ever since they killed off Doyle. (I started watching this show VERY late, so I apologize. Angel never was my favorite character, unfortunately. LOVE Cordy, though!! I still love "Smallville." Not as good as "Buffy," but I do like "Smallville" more than "Angel."

I don't like either Buffy or Angel (although i did watch a bit of Buffy when it first started ..it was ok)

Definately Smallville for me ...but that's just my personal choice.
I have friends who love Buffy/Angel and can't stand what i like ..it's cool :D

Is anybody else concerned about Joss being taken off of Wonder Woman? I tell ya the guy gets no respect.
