Hey have you seen the list of the worst movies ever made? I think Sixth Sense shouldn’t be there, the movie made sense and it’s not that scary as hell! For me the Ring should be on top! It’s a frightening film!

Here’s the list: http://www.stuffmagazine.com/articles/index.aspx?id=1499&src=gtf123

What's your pick?

i dont really find movies scary but if i had to choose, id agree with the site and say Exorcist. the fact that its supposedly based on a true story probably adds to the scaryness.

blair witch also, cos the way its filmed makes it seem like a real life documentary.

For me, scary usually = gross, so I would say Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses. I haven't really watched a horror movie since that.

Films like The Ring I don't find as scary because it's supernatural. The ones that get me are the ones that could happen.

The Exorcist...definitely. I consider really scary movies the type of movies that mess with your head. Very disturbing movies. So far I can't say I have seen a really scary one...disturbing, yes but not scary enough.
There is 'Stay Alive' though, cos I do play computer horror games and the fact that it's you playing and it's you that gets killed is scaryand just the flashes of disturbing images and noises...so 'Stay Alive' I'd consider a bit scary.

i agree that 'sixth sense' shouldn't have been on the list. i didn't think it was that scary...

maybe makes you jump a little bit but that's about it. don't get me wrong, i love that movie but as far as being scary...not really.

personally, 'the grudge' and 'the exorcist' were the scariest that i have ever seen....so far.

next to 'damien' and 'amityville horror'. but that's just me.

The Exorcist is pretty scary But I think Exorcism of Emily Rose is scarrier.

Silent Hill and The Descent take the cake for me, here. There's just something about the dark forboding atmosphere in Silent Hill and the claustrophobia in The Descent that gets me into that "oh sh*t" stage of scared every time.

sadly, I got freaked out by Pet Cemetary when I was younger, nowadays, its gotta be pulled off really good to scare me, cuz I know movies arent real. One of my favorites is called The Changeling, rent it, its great. Its an old movie with no special effest, just pure ghost scaryness.

The Grudge was a good movie, and it was definitely creepy too. But NEVER EVER watch the Grudge 2 unless you want to laugh extremely hard. It was one of the WORST things I have ever seen.

Also, I don't think The Blair Witch Project should be on the list. It was a horrendous movie, boring and not frightening in the least bit, even though I live near the woods. That movie also made me laugh...talk about a movie that never should have been made, it's that one!

The Evil Dead was the scariest for me, hands downs. Sami Rami had very very little to work with moneywise and had very little help to make it. The movie was all Rami's who took low budget and made a turbo charge version of the Exorcist.

I agree!! the grudge 2 was boring. I like one missed call. It is is a J-Horror movie directed by Takashi Miike.

In it, college students begin receiving strange calls with a creepy ringtone. The message left on their voicemail is from themselves from a designated time in the future. Upon listening to said message, they hear their own screams of impending death. Nakamura and Yamashita race against time to unravel the mystery behind the phone calls and try to prevent the death of Nakamura after she receives a similar call.

The Chucky movies scare the heck out of me I know he's just a doll but he's scary to the point where I have to lock the doors when I watched them by myself.

Well I don't get scared easily when watching the movie, but when i think about it late at night :o I do get scared..

for me it's (Darkness), (Stay Alive)--This movie was actually good.. Exorcist: The Beginning was scary, the first half was kinda boring but then it's really scary.. Chucky was my ultimate fear when i was young I used to put all my dolls in my closet before going to sleep :p but now it's not that scary :D

Well for me When a Stranger Calls(the old one) was soooooo scary just the fact that something like that could happen.

And Sleepaway Camp...if anyone has seen the ending to that movie they know what i'm talking bout...scariest ending of a movie EVER.

Jaws shouldn't be on that list, its not scary at all. I saw it with my brother when I was in, like, the fourth grade and just thought it was dramatic. Not scary.

The Ring. Man, that scared me bad. It took me three months to stop getting freaked every Saturday (day I watched it) but watching Scary Movie 3 helped.:)

I found the exorcist funny, but then, I tend to laugh at most horror movies. You want scary? Watch the exorcism of emily rose at precisely 1am

I didn't think The Exorcism of Emily Rose was scary and I watched it at midnight

Not a movie, but I just watched an episode of the "Masters of Horror" series called "Cigarette Burns". It may not be everyone's version of scary, and relies heavily on some gore near the end, but man for some reason it's just haunting me. I recommend everyone give it a try.

ETA: And for gorehounds, my dear god if the episode "Imprint" isn't freaking impossible to watch without wanting to puke.

Maybe I am a sucker for terrible special effects, but I thought The Exorcist and The Birds were scary movies.:\

I imagine there must be a "gross-out" scene in it similar to the "birthing" scene in Knocked Up. That's the only thing I can think of that would be scary about it (although I haven't seen it yet.)

hehe...the birthing scene cracked me up
