That scene sure took all of 3 seconds!

Did anyone expect this to be a long fight? o.O This wasn't remotely an action episode, I was surprised it even had a confrontation that was more than just verbal in it. Not every episode of Smallville is going to be action-oriented. In fact, most aren't, and rarely have been.

No complaints about the action of this episode. It was almost completely character driven, which is good. Its the advertised action promised in past episodes, is what gets to some. This isn't one of those times. Only speaking for myself ofcourse

yeah the fight scene was lame, but it was still a good episode

He was a meteor-freak. Clark can handle those so easy now. A long fight scene would have shown too much weakness.

WAIT......There was a fight scene???

Didnt really care. Not like the fight could have saved the episode anyway.

Better off saving on special effects for the big eps like "Justice".

This episode wasn't about the showdown between Clark and the freak. Really who didn't think that Clark couldn't handle the guy? Seriously when he got sucked into the ground , first thing I thought was. Oh this guy just messed up, he has no idea who hes ******* with. It ended appropriatly. Quickly

It was a very short fight scene, but at least it showed Superman being super. That is exactly how most of the fight scenes should go(human mutant wise). I would like to have seen the punch that sent him flying but at least it was the first time in a few shows I did not end up trying to coach Clark through the fight. I have gotten so sick of Clark, not thinking or planning his battles but just standing there to be beat on.

Sitting messing with your laptop will probably make anything seem boring, since you aren't, y'know, paying attention. ;)

ive said this before in another thread but here i go again. for those of you always complaining about short fight scenes you have know idea how much money it takes to just have clark super run or use his x ray vision let alone him having a great epic battle every show my point is its a tv show not a movie, or for that matter a comic or cartoon, if want that stuff go and look at that

Didn't really expect one. The main season, which would usually be a fight, was the scene between Clark and Martha.

How would you know it was boring if you did not look up from your laptop? Eyes on the top of your head?

It's sad that an episode is deemed boring or bad just because it's more about character development and drama then Clark beating people up and things exploding.

The fight was PATHETIC! It took like 5 seconds- we didn't see any of it- and I'm still not sure what's going on w/ McNally's powers!!!

They could of done some cool effects with this, like actually go underground and show it. That would give directors some awesome shots, and manage to show different landscape.

As long as they are saving the effects money for "Justice" I can take the cheap scenes for now :)

This episode wasnt that kind of episode, and what can a freaking diglett impersonator actually do to clark, better than letting the guy get away and letting us think such a ignorant villain could return.

First time I've seen Clark seeminly dominate, but I didn't even see him.

Yeah, technically, we didn't even see the fight, this time...

I agree they spent the money in the wrong place once again. all I want to see is some hand to hand combat. that last a little bit more then 3 seconds. but since Clark doesn't really know any hand combats I can't really blame the writers.

I love character-driven stuff. My favorite episodes of BtVS and Angel were usually the quiet ones where the focus was more on character than action.

So, I didn't think the episode was boring because it was character-driven. I thought it was boring because it was boring. And badly executed on many levels, including the confrontation.

The fact that an episode is character-driven doesn't excuse a weak confrontation like the one this episode had. If they were going to go for an action-driven resolution to that plot, then they should've done it right. If they weren't going to do it right, they shouldn't have done it at all.

As for the character-development in the episode, it was all surface. Although, I've argued this before. Usually, what qualifies as depth on SV isn't very deep, and nothing really grabbed my attention the way good character-driven episodes do.

very cheap filler episode.
i was almost embarrassed for the writers putting that paper to waste.

Go back an re-watch the episode. They give a clear explanation of McNally's powers.

Well at least Clark did the throwing this time. I got sick of him playing Frodo Baggins in every episode this season.

Im confused, if the guy's power is that he can burrow underground then does that mean he has superspeed? what kind of dumb power is that?! How is he drilling himself underground??

That is what puzzled me so much. tptb just expected everyone to just nod their heads and think "ok he can travel quickly underground" but never explain or show how. So yeah I'm not upset about not seeing a fight but instead not seeing how exactly the guy used his power-like all the other krypto freaks we've seen!

^In other words, he's like a mole or a tremor from Tremors. He can't run fast but can dig at super speeds.

We didn't see it, but clark obviuosly threw a punch! Even if it was for a few seconds, clark wasn't a rag doll this time!

At least the episode wasn't supposed to be action packed like Arrival, Solitude, Vessel, Zod, Wither, Fallout and Static. Those could have been better with better fight scenes.

Amen Schwinn2010. I thought Subterranean was excellent in moving the plot along and developing both Clark's and Lex's characters. We see the Clark and Lex's open hostility towards each other which is a sneak peak into Supes v. Lex Luthor. This episode was awesome in that respect.
