Talk about the flying politician here.

I think its cool he can fly but i really wish he would stop denying his abilities and start helping people. plus he doesnt treat peter very well and peter is trying to get nathan to care more about stuff other then himself.

True. I wonder if he will become a villain, he seemed robotic in Peter's vision, maybe he turns. He is in politics, maybe he is pushed to the edge, or wants to be a hero, making the world love him instead of Peter. Remember when he announced that his bro tried to kill himself and he announced it? He has to gain something out of everything.

I dunno, i don't see him as a villian no matter how cold he gets, or how badly he treats Peter.

I don't think that there is a real villian in heroes at all. Maybe Sylar but that's it. I thought before that MR. Benett could be a bad guy but he really, really cares about Claire. Even if the things he does aren't not so good. But what Nathan did in that reunion telling about Peter was a low blow

Gosh Nathan is such an a**hole! Why do I like him so much. That flight was out of this world!!! That smile... So... smarmy and patronizing... this character... this actor... wonderfulness.

As far as selfishness goes I could see him being a villian. A stumbling block to saving the day... or not fighting for good or evil... staying out of the fight when the good guys could use his help...

But even if he said no... I think he'd show up at the last minute.

I think he is reluctantly going to become the leader when they all join together, he is a politician therefore he is also a capable leader and he is confident and smart.
Each character has thier own story throug the season his will is becoming more involved and actually becoming the leader.

I think everyone's being a bit too hard on Nathan. No, he isn't using his power as often as everyone else. But that doesn't make him selfish. Surely a more apt definition of a selfish Hero would be one who would use his ability for his own gain, as opposed to Nathan who does use his ability if should happen to stumble on a situation where it could help (see the third graphic novel on NBC's website). Perhaps Nathan sees that he can be more useful to the world as a senator, fighting larger evils rather than small incidents (not to mention; why should he give up everything he's worked for in his life just because he's found out something new about himself?)

i agree with ya lmok.

and i think nathens ok, as for him being mean to peter, i think thats just him being a brother.

It's not really how often he uses his power that makes me think he's selfish. It's how he lies to Peter and generally treats him like dirt... Also how he put paint on the painting...

He's a selfish guy. He's worldly. He's a realist. I like him... but... I hate him at the same time.

You're probably right though... Chlarkerlover his mean-ness to Peter is just being the mean big brother.

I dunno about Nathan, I kind of like him. Him announcing Peter's suicide attempt wasn't neccessary but like others said brotherly rivalry taken a bit too far maybe? Personally I like Nathan better than Peter, don't know why...

One of the best powers if he wants he can be free from the world below him and he plays a great antithesis to peter. Plus he has great villain potential.

ginnyfan he thre paint on the painting becuase he was trying to protect his brother it showed him dead. I woulda done the same thing and i am sure others would too.
I dont like his dealings with linderman nor did i like his announcement that peter is suicidal. He has flaws but so do alot fo them Hiro's flaws is that he lacks self confidence in himself. Claire's is that she runs away from it all becuase she wants to be a normal teen. Nathan will work his way through and realize this is his destiny.
And last man of krypton i agree with you for the most part except the last bit when you said why should he give up everything he has worked his life for becuase he found something new about himself. I dnt think he should throw it all away but still what he found bout himself isnt like someon finding out they can sing.

I like how they have developed this character, he is scared of his ability which is why he doesnt use it. He is trying to figure out to coexist with the llife he wants and the cards he is being dealt. I also dont see him as the future leader I think he harbours to muchy fear and to much analytical thinking to make decisions that would lead others to do what is necessary. Peter has the hero mentality that would be to do that. I think Nathan will be a Hero instead of a villian, but he would be more like the "I cant believe I have to listen to my younger brother" and complain all the time, while challenging Peter in everything he does.

I think that Nathan will become a villain - he just seems so much darker as each episode goes by.

Can't wait for the season to kick into gear again!

I started a new thread, cuz I didnt really think my points went along with the content of the other Thread.

My thoughts are; TPTB completely changed the way they wanted us to perceive Nathan with "Godsend". The kiss he gave Peter, is belief in the ability to see the future, his belief in Hiro, The foreshadowing of him staying with his brother. Originally it looked like they wanted us to see him as a future villian. Now something completely different.

Just wondering everyones thoughts on this.

i don't think they ever wanted him to be a future villain, all i got from him was someone who just wanted to live his lie, not go on about being a superhero. as for the changing in his attitude, if your brother got into a coma for two weeks, wouldn't you be a lil, i dunno, more wiling to except his veiws?

I never once believed he would be a villian.

He's just a guy who really would rather deal with his life, his problems and his campaign. All this hero stuff isnt for him and is just a thorn in his side.

However, inside he is a good person forced into a position he never asked for.

I disagree, he could not really comprehend what Peter was saying. He said in the episode "this is not the way the world works", but after seeing Hiro and Issac he's starting to believe, which is great.

well i remember there was alot of talk about him betraying the other heroes and everyone was talking about hoiw nathan was terrible and he was a future villian.
Nathan has never exhibited any traits indicative of him beiing a future villian. I have always maintained that i think he will be the eventual leader of the "heroes"as you can see in godsend he was already starting to take some kind of control and direction.

I don't blieve they ever intended for him to be a villian. I just think he is one who is running from his gift and blames it for his problems, quite similar to Ted in my oppinion.

I figure he is trying to run from his ability. He has different aspirations. The way I see it, if these people with abilities ever get discovered by the masses, and some x man like prejudice takes place he'll distance himself as far away as he can from the rest of the heroes. Like what he said to Simmone, about being put on an island. I think he just wants to stay the same.

Staying the same seems to be a common thought for most of them (with the exclusion of Sylar). I'm really interested to see what Nathan's progression is next year (provided he is still alive). Does he become more in touch with his ability, or pull further away from it?

I think he may want to be more of a hero, but his mother doesn't want him to do it, and it may cost his life.

Nathan is cool, glad he is not a bad guy. Want to see him explore his power of flight more and how fast he can go. we know he moves faster than the speed of sound but how much faster I wonder...

Nathan was never a future villain- just one of the more complex characters. In my mind he's sort of like the current Tony Stark. He will do morally grey things if it means a good end result, and he doesnt trust anyone else to do it, only himself. He wants to be in a position of power so that he makes sure that good things come about. At one point, he was not willing to sacrifice life for the greater good. However, seeing that the sacrifice would not only cause a united world, but one where he could personally take care of its problems, as president of the US. Eventually though he decided that nothing was worth the sacrifice.

Nathan is a Tony Stark Type anti-hero.
