11-27-2006, 07:20 PM
That's what I thought too!
I said Oh my God ....is that Brandon Routh?
superhippie2000
11-27-2006, 07:30 PM
ya my exact thoughts. well if they ever decide to get a future superman on smallville they have there cheap rip off of routh
so jessica is nikkis dead sister. i wonder if her dead sister is possesing her or if the other side of nikki just uses that name.
intresting to see how nathan learned to fly just kind of ejected himself from the seat.

11-27-2006, 07:43 PM
Well, that explains a little.
Her father slapped her/Jessica around a lot.
superhippie2000
11-27-2006, 07:44 PM
jessica should have killed her father. what a jerk. and micha taking apart the computer was intresting but i think i would have got mad too if someone took apart something i spent 2000 dollars on.
and it does look like sylar gains powers from other peoples brains. he got the telekentic power from that dude i guess and may have got superspeed from someone.

Did you see the address that Gabriel had on the piece of paper?
I just caught a glimpse, but it was something like "Beeman" street or something.
That Greg Beeman. Clever b*st*rd. Hahaha! Lol!

sweet episode. Nikki had a twin sister Jessica< at least thats what I believe. Hiro fell in love aww that was sweet. Wow Matt suffers from dyslexia, didn't see that one coming. Sylar is one creepy dude. I wanted to see what he did with the brains. I guess he just takes the part he needs and leaves the rest. Though in the pictures whole brains have been taken. Dunno anyways Really cool episode. Cant' wait until next week. So sad to hear someone is going to die. My guess its Eden. looked like a females hand atleat to me it did.
I don't see how they can contain Sylar unless the Hatian and Eden both take 12 shifts watching him. It's going to be interesting watching that play out especially with whatever they have planned for him.
warriorrenegade
11-27-2006, 08:36 PM
Oh yeah cause you know they can't keep him caged up. I guess thats how the "hero" dies. Sylar uses them to help him escape and then kills them as a distraction so he can get away.

Yep, we're officially on hiatus. Well, we get one more episode of Smallville in December, but then all of the good shows will be on hiatus until next year.
superhippie2000

ya i hate the waits cause they always make you wait longer for episodes you really want to see and find out what happens next. i enjoy christmas episodes during december so i have something to watch but once noon christmas day hits evetrything goes back to repeats. maybe they will have a heroes christmas marathon or new years marathon. like all the episode not jsut the first 6 like they will have tommorow night.
to be more on track for this thread topic im wondering how long did it take for hiro to build all of those little birds. to the viewers it was like 5 seconds but in hiro time it must have taken him forever.
is it just me or since that was six months ago a lot of stuff happened with people in just six months. like claire becomming a cheerleader or nathans wife car accident or sylar becoming sylar seems like based on previous episodes it was like they been that way for a long time. longer then 6 months. and eden i thought she worked with claires dad for a long time not just 6 months. just seems people changed a lot in six months.
also does anyone notice how they replay some of the previous episodes end scenes at the begining of the new episode but they are totally different. like different angles and doing the lines at different time frames. like when hiro talked to peter in the train the episode ended with i have something to tell you and it was filmed a different way with hiros back towards the viewer but the next episode showed hiros face and up close. and agian last night. last week hiro was sitting at the diner talking to the girl and we see her walk away and is near the cake and calls hiro over but last night they showed it up close and at a different angle and she takes only a couple steps before asking hiro over. obviously they are doing scenes like these on purpose but does anyone know why?

This was the BEST episode of Heroes to date, and I have a feeling that it will continue to be my favorite episode of the show for awhile. I really enjoyed Homecoming, don't get me wrong. But the character development and writing in Six Months Ago was excellent, and it was great to see the histories of the characters and how Sylar began.
I loved the backhistory with Nathan and Peter. Especially the scene where Linderman's guys were trying to run Nathan off the rode, and you see him hovering in the air above the car.
* Here is a question - Didn't it seem like Peter had been a nurse for longer than 6 months? It seemed like he had a long history with Simmone's father that went back a lot farther than 6 months.
This was the FIRST episode where I actually liked seeing development on Niki and Ikin (Jessica). It was interesting to find out that Jessica was the name of Niki's dead twin sister. It makes you wonder if Jessica is the dead sister re-incarnated, which would be awesome and explain the abilities since they were supernaturally based. But it is most likely just split personallity based. Even though Heroes is a fictional show, I doubt they will go the route of the supernatural. It would make things so much more interesting if the real Jessica was being channeled however.
Really liked seeing Eden's beginning as well as all the stuff with HRG. I also thought they did an AWESOME job with Sylar's beginning and showing how he gets his power. While the brain related scenes are a bit disturbing, I think it is cool that Sylar's ability involves being able to steal other people's abilities. I also liked how Gabriel came up with the name "Sylar" from getting it off the watch.
* Also, it has probably been said, but was anyone else amazed at how much the actor who played Sylar looked and sounded like Brandon Routh? Before they showed his face, and I just heard the voice, I would have sworn it was BR, and then when we got the first shot with glasses, it looked like it even more.
Kind of feel bad for Hiro in all this. I think it was kind of pointless to introduce Charlie and send Hiro back if she was going to die anyways. But it was great to see Charlie say that she loved Hiro, and that he felt the same way. I was wondering why Hiro said that he failed, when it was made quite clear that Charlie was dying from a tumor. He could not have prevented her getting the tumor.
My only gripe for the whole episode was that Isaac wasn't featured. Since he was a vital part of the show in terms of helping to save Claire, and revealing the upcoming explosion, we should have seen how he discovered his ability as well.
* Also, I can't believe they have been so sloppy in regards to the character of Chandra Suresh. In the first handful of episodes they had a different actor playing the character in photographs. Then they showed a pic of the current actor Erick Avari, on the back of the book, which a lot of people missed. Now they have EA playing the character on a permanent basis. Switching actors and making it noticeable like that is really sloppy. They should have stuck with the original actor chosen, because there was more of a physical resemblance to Mohinder.
But overall, this was the best episode of the show yet in my opinion.

Harry Potter, was it just me or did Suresh's first meeting with Sylar seem eerily similar to Dumbledores first meeting with Voldemort/Tom Riddle?
Their conversation in Suresh's aparment as well. How Sylar always knew he was different. How he felt special.

Yeah Ryan, I know what both of you guys are talkin' about. I agree, they do seem to be pushing alot of history into just a 6 month time frame.
Like Jeff said, I REALLY thought Pete had taken care of Simone's Dad longer than 6 months. :(
With most of those events, it would've been safer to title the episode "1 YEAR earlier." That would be much more believable. That's just my opinion.
I too noticed the re-filming of certain end/beginning scenes.
They're usually from different angles, AND sometimes the dialogue is a little different.
I've seen that on other shows as well. The first time I noticed it on Heroes, was when Claire woke up in the Morgue.
The first take, she enhaled deeply then said "Holy sh*t!," then when used as an opening scene in the following episode, she just enhaled deeply.

ya now that u mention it it was kind of like voldermort talking to dumbledore. how he wanted to feel special and wanted great powers and how he just kind of fell into being like or related to his father when he didnt want to and wanted to be much powerful.

ya one year later would have made more sense i think. just seemed like everyones life was rushed for 6 months. still not a bad episode tho.
im just wondering why different angles and stuff. and it does look like they are meaning to do it that way. do comic books ever do that? like starts the same scene but different?

Jessica is very strong physically. But Niki body can't be strong like that. I guess when being ''channeled'' she gains strengths. There's just no way a woman from her size can throw a punch like this or choke someone like she does.
I'm 6 feet' 250lbs, strong built and I wouldn't even be close to do what she does.
I guess Niki power is to get Jessica to take over and at the time she has '' strengths '' power.

Things I loved about this episode:
* Sylar character developement. It makes it all the more interesting that he actually never had a power. He steals from others, which explains why he do so many things. And now I hate him even more. *lol*
* Eden developement. Stinkerbell was cool.
* H.R.G. = Greatness, none the less.
* Inter-connecting storylines. (Eden and Brian).
* Hiro and Charlie. That was so well written. :( Poor Hiro.
* A show that answers questions! Unlike LOST! We learned a lot about Niki.
Lacking:
* Not enough Claire, however I realize that she was the center of last week...
* Brian's storyline was a bit boring.

Can I add no Prison Break to that list hehehe... ;-p But 24 is back in January and that can only be a good thing!!!
This was a great episode and leads on very well to next week's fall finale. It is about time we got the story on Sylar, I mean G. Cole or the reject from 24 Day 3 lol...
Is it just me or does something not seem right with Nathan? He was reluctant to tell Peter about his power but that was probably just to protect himself and Peter. Maybe he will turn eventually especially with all this power and attention he getting from running in the election. Also already mentioned in this thread about telling Peter how their Dad died. I'm sure were told he committed suicide in the first episode. Maybe he was murdered but I don't think it was a heart attack that killed him.

ya nathan seems weird. you never know what he is thinking. if i had his flying power i would be using it everyday. if he dont want it let sylar have it lol. ya the dads death is kind of weird. may be a screw up in the script or maybe there is something going to be revealed at a later date.
gping back to how sylar looks like clark kent and stuff, i just watched superman returns and did anyone notice at the opening titles of superman returns they show a planet and it has the orange eclipse glow and looks just like the eclipse from heroes.

I thought it explained a bit on why Nathan is trying to ignore his power; his wife is crippled because of it, so there may be a hint of guilt everytime he thinks of it.
On a totally different note, I've only recently started watching this show (watched all 10 episodes in about 4 days). A friend told me, "it's like Smallville. Y'know, if it was good". Curious, I decided to give it a shot, and man alive; I really like it! Now, I'm a hardcore Smallville fan, but Heroes could certainly give it a run for it's money. It'll be interesting to see what directions it'll take in the next few years.

oh dude, I saw Heroes from the pilot and slowly started loving it now, Smallville and Heroes are in a close race , since people know me as the Smallville lunatic, if they ask me about Heroes I'm just like "Watch it! If we were to compare Heroes to the first three seasons of Smallville, then I would have a hard time deciding.
But if you take the first season of Heroes and compare it to Smallville from S4 on, Heroes is hands down the better show. There is no contest. Season six of Smallville has just not been that good in my opinion. The only episodes I have enjoyed were Zod and Arrow. Episodes like Wither and Static were laughably bad.
Heroes has just been amazing and continues to get better. I didn't like Heroes at first. Hated the first two episodes. But from episode three on, it has gotten increasingly better with each episode, and only continues to improve.

The story with Jessica and Nikki was so sweet!!!! How Jessica would take all the hits for Nikki (even if she kinda goes pyscho at times...)- and Charlie and Hiro! This episode was so sad and so good all at once! I also like how they kept up with the Eden and "Cop" (lol, I forget his name) plots! And how they went deeper into Sylar's character and showed how he started... the Nathan and Peter story was, uh, alright I guess...

Sylar could just fix the blood-cut it's part of his natural power. I think they still should have saved her, but I don't think Hiro could control his power enough. I think I'd rather die from a blood cut in the brain over a guy slicing my head open and fooling around with it... but maybe that's just me?

He can locate the problem and know instantly what's wrong, then fix it. And I agree- he coulda helped a lot of people if he had just become a doctor, and he could be winning nobel prizes for curing diseases...

This episode was wonderful. I loved seeing all the characters six months ago...
My favorite stuff was probably Hiro and Charlie *sniff sniff* but it was all quite wonderful.
I persist in loving Nicky's story. I had an abusive childhood. Perhaps that's why. It's a strange thing to be powerless and to see that the things that are happening to you are really wrong but no one is defending you. I totally get this secondary person with super-strength rising up to protect you. I just get that. Also the parallel of being abused and being objectified. The power play of that... the powerlessness of that.
It was fun to see Peter persistantly loving Nate as usual. Very sad to see how active Heidi was before the accident. She was skipping about. She didn't walk anywhere, she danced! Really heartbreaking.
At first I wondered why Nathan flew up like a coward but... then I thought of Hero (is this in Fallout) zooming into another time before he can take Charlie away...
The power is bigger than the person that carries it. I guess it was like an involutary reflex. Very cool...
Um that's all I can think of... Oh Eden! Or is her name Eve? I enjoyed seeing her as a spoiled brat. I don't know what to think about Daddy Bennet there's an odd mixture of hatred and enjoyment going on with this character for me.

know what i noticed after watching a bunch of repeats last night. that in this episode hiro gives charlie the japanese book but 2 episodes earlier when he first met her she had the same book she said she got on her birthday. so that means the book was what hiro gave her 6 months ago but she doesnt remember hiro. this stuff is confusing still lol.

I thought about that too, but I chalked it up to the time aboration/rip paradox.
Just like the photo on the wall, was it there before he time jumped? Or did it appear after he left when Ando noticed it?

When Charlie is calling Hiro sweet right before she gets killed... it seems like she remembers him. Maybe... I might be reaching.

Yay for back story! This one was awesome right from the first scene. Every character I had wondered about got at least a couple scenes in this episode, and they were almost all well done. This is another one of my very favorite episodes. Sylar’s back story was the one I wanted most, and I think his reveal was perfectly timed. They’d done the suspenseful build-up of The Sylar Monster without us ever having seen him, and just as he is shadow-ly revealed and included in some action, we’re whipped away to be introduced to him six months ago. Instead of explaining who he is in the present and having to muck through some heavy exposition to cover his back-story, we get a flashback episode where everything is revealed as storyline! Nicely done.
Beautiful music with the included ticking as we scan around Sylar’s apartment in Brooklyn. It’s the obvious Heroes theme, but the ticking is a nice variation on what we hear every week, and it works nicely with the close-up shots of the clock innards. Erick Avari and Zachary have a great little scene in the beginning here, and there are so many nice moments I’m not going to name them all. My favorites are Sylar’s first “I can fix it,” and the amused follow-up expression on Chandra’s face. Zachary also does a great job of looking confused and utterly intrigued as Chandra walks out the door.
It was nice to see Matt step out of that cruiser, but as soon as Eden was revealed I immediately felt bad for him. You just know he’s about to have a really bad night. Only thing I didn’t like was the sighing-monster-growl noise that signified her power of suggestion. Do something weird with her voice, fine, but you don’t need Godzilla heavy-breathing in the background. Funny Godzilla/Masi Oka thing: hxxp: www. youtube. com/watch?v=IEJm0uIVwUc
The only back story I didn’t like was Niki’s, but that might just be because she’s not my favorite character. Ali does a great job with everything she’s given, but I just don’t find myself as invested in her story. Plus, I think they could have written her dad in a little more elegantly. His story seems to clunk a little more than the rest of the episode, and at times it feels forced.
Nathan’s a jackass! Speaking as a female doc-to-be, I applaud the male nurses of the world. (And those nursing shoes, gotta tell you, are amazingly comfy…. seriously. ) It’s great to see Peter smiling and joking in this episode, happy before the weight of the world falls on his shoulders. And I want to meet Mr. Petrelli! I’m sure they’re purposefully not revealing him so he can be cast at a later date when his character will no doubt be central to a plot thread, but this is driving me bonkers that we still haven’t seen him even after two seasons (don’t tell me the fuzzy, blurry picture counts, because it doesn’t). And in the most amazing Heroes moment to date, Angela Petrelli actually says something sweet and supportive to her son.
Peter is so sweet during his discussion with Nathan about outing their father as a Bad Guy. The man refuses to come to his nursing school graduation party, and yet Peter doggedly defends him. This is really the first time we witness this character’s insanely stupid loyalty problem. (Well, no, maybe the Petrelli Family Sunday Brunch counts. ) Someone helps him, or is related to him, and he’ll follow them to the ends of the earth, completely blind to the fact that maybe they’re not exactly out to save the world. If Peter was an animal, he’d be a golden retriever, smart-but-dumb, and loyal to a fault.
Heidi is so energetic here! You can see why Nathan married her—when she’s bouncing around at Peter’s party she’s obviously a total spitfire. And very diplomatic between the boys in conversation. I like this woman! Don’t cheat on her Nathan!
Better yet, don’t fly out of your car and put her in a wheelchair. There’s an idea. But in all seriousness, Nathan, you are such a horrible human being. The favorite, the one with the ‘birthright’, the son who is loved more… And you think Peter is self-righteous?? And who do we think was driving the car that ran them off the road? They presume it’s one of Linderman’s guys, but I want to find out later that it was someone we get to know. Whoever that might be. And sadly, doesn’t the canned scream they attribute to Heidi as the car crashes sound a lot like the awful, fake scream Claire gives as she’s running from Sylar in 1x09 Homecoming? Come one, sound people, step it up.
I have problems with the following scene in the hospital, too: how has the staff let Nathan wander around with that gash on his forehead? If Heidi’s been in surgery for hours at this point, someone would have taken him aside and forced him to accept a clean-up. I don’t think he would have refused care for that long, right? And then we have another patented Peter Flip-Flop. Oh, wait, I will help you squeal on Dad. Forget my whole spiel from earlier. But the coolest thing in the hospital scene is the reflection in the window made by who-knows-what that looks just like the eclipse Heroes logo (right at the end, next to Nathan’s head).
Again, I love the scenes between Sylar and Chandra. Sylar’s line, “So, what, you’re going to cut me open?” is cute, considering his future as a human butcher. Zachary’s delivery of his entire monologue/explanation of how he views his family is wonderful, especially his down-turned eyes and inflection of “insignificant”. And we learn that he’s been simmering for awhile on this idea of changing his name and running away from his father’s pitiful legacy. The best Sylar moment of the episode is his frustrated outburst when Chandra tells him he may not have an ability. Zachary throws such a perfect 7-year-old’s tantrum, flinging the folders. And! In another lovely two-ships-in-the-night moment, we see HRG step out of the cab behind Sylar as he leaves Chandra’s apartment.
The reveal of Jessica as Niki’s sister was good, but I think the story could have had more details. I would have liked them to be identical twins or something. That would make more sense and fit with the future storyline. And boy, does Ali break my heart when she cries. I really like the fact that as Jessica walks into Hal’s hotel room, we watch her first as a reflection in the mirror before the camera actually swings around to Ali.
Now, if anyone can clarify these details for me I’d be grateful: did Hal beat Jessica and only Jessica until he killed her, then switch to Niki? At which point Niki absorbed her dead sister’s personality and then when Hal beat her, Jessica would take over and take the beating, only giving Niki back the reins after the abuse had stopped? So does Niki have the physical power of strength (which Jessica can borrow when in control), and Jessica has the ability to jump her consciousness from a dead body into another one? (That discussion will continue in the review of 2x11 Powerless. ) So Niki doesn’t ever remember him killing her sister, or the subsequent beatings? This all goes a long way towards explaining Jessica’s brutal personality…
Super Dave! David Berman (Brian Davis) plays one of my favorite side characters on CSI. He’s wonderful here, too, perfectly awkward and hesitant about displaying what he can do. I love how hard he has to concentrate just to move the cup. And just as soon as Gabriel Gray finishes his 1917 watch that he’s been working on for seven years—just as soon as he is triumphant and successful in figuring out how it works—he takes the name Sylar and figures out how he himself is supposed to work. Brilliant brilliant brilliant! I just don’t think it looks like he connects with Brian’s head when he swings those crystals at him.
I like that when Sylar goes to see Chandra after acquiring Brian’s power his hair isn’t quite so neatly coiffed, and he doesn’t have the glasses on anymore. He’s shedding Gabriel Gray and coming apart at the seams a little. The spiral downward has begun! The way both actors jump as the glass shoots off the table and breaks is very nicely done, too.
Bits and Pieces:
* In the Previously-On-Heroes recap at the start of the episode, the tape of Sylar talking to Chandra is partially replayed, but this time it’s been re-recorded with Zachary Quinto’s voice instead.
* Have I mentioned how much I like the way they place the chapter titles at the beginning of each episode? This one and Seven Minutes To Midnight are among my favorites.
* Zachary looks adorable with the magnifying glasses on! Then again I think anyone would look cute in them.
* Nice line: “We’ll take pictures—we’ll totally commiserate the event!” “I think you mean commemorate. ”
* Cute cartoon look on Hiro’s face as he looks out at the rain and wishes Charlie happy birthday.
* The dance between Heidi and Nathan is one of very few acceptable instances of the use of a song with lyrics instead of score.
* Is it just me, or is our mild-mannered watchmaker somewhat reminiscent of Clark Kent in his slicked-to-the-side black hair and black-rimmed glasses? I’m sure they didn’t do it entirely on purpose, but the similarity is cool nonetheless, considering that instead of the hero this one’s alter-ego is the villain.
* Very nice cut: as we switch from Sylar’s hopeful “What do you think my abilities could be?” to the laundry list of Eden’s dubious ‘abilities’. Robbery, arson, grand theft auto and possibly murder sound like some special talents there, little lady.
* It’s always fun when the show that is shot in LA and has to pretend to be in every other exotic location imaginable gets to actually shoot in LA and show off some recognizable landmarks like the Staples Center behind Matt.
* Jayma Mays accent is the most endearing thing in the world.
* I love love LOVE the fact that Hiro has a bunch of bandaids on his fingers after he folds the cranes for Charlie. Lots of papercuts! What a wonderful detail.
* I like Janice a little bit more (not much, but a little) now that I know what a crab Matt was to drive her to her affair. She’s still a *****, but living with a depressed and going-nowhere Matt must have been really tough.
* Did Mr. Petrelli really commit suicide? Because the initial story told was a heart-attack, and then Angela admitted to multiple suicide attempts, the last one successful. But now I really think he was murdered (and it was possibly made to look like a suicide?). . . but that's for season 2 discussion.
* Hiro’s and Charlie’s scene together when she tells him she loves him is adorable. Minute problem: Masi drops the accent a little when he says “I’m supposed to save you. ”
* Nice to see when and why Eden was sent to monitor Chandra.
