Here is what I found:
"Two and a Half Men," 10.4/15, and "Old Christine," 8.7/13, moved CBS into the lead at 9 p.m. NBC dropped back to second with "Heroes," 7.8/11, which was the night's top show among adults 18-49. "The Bachelor" posted a 6.5/9 for ABC. A second "House" on FOX earned a 3.4/5, while The CW held steady with "Girlfriends" and "The Game."

24 is getting old really really fast (last season was their high point,IMO). Heroes is just awesome and they have way too much storyline to build apon. i hope ratings are through the roof for heroes because it's such a great show.

I have not had a chance to watch heroes, because of work so I taped them on several tapes and watched them little by little when I had a chance and I absolutely LOVED IT! You get right into it the very first show - At first I was skeptic about supernatural shows, with the disaster of others shows, but somehow this show has something UNIQUE about it and UNIQUENESS wins ! I LOVE the characters, I think HIRO helps ratings a lot.
LOVE the show! Saying 24 is old is not being fair - HEROES is new, a new show like that will get good ratings, but they will level off eventually - don't forget that both shows were competing against each other otherwise if they were on different nights 24 would lead. 24 still has VERY decent ratings considering its 6 season and they are already contracted for 3 more seasons :)
NBC's execs are happy about this and nobody expected big ratings. It's doing extremely well in the key demo, has very good press, in fact some little bird tells me the show is fully renewed for a 2nd season :) (but you didn't hear it from me! ) :D

I watch Heroes on the NBC Rewind website, they also have cast commentary too.
During the break in the season I watched all the episodes online to get my fix.
My wife watches Heroes on the website during her lunch hour at work.
I just wish CW would do that with Smallville as they do it with Supernatural.

-Ratings Breakdown: From Mediaweek
CBS opened the week on a winning note in the overnights, with a 9 percent advantage over second-place Fox. NBC finished a competitive third, followed by ABC in the distant No. 4 spot, and a deteriorating the CW. CBS is expected to finish first in total viewers once the fast nationals are posted at PIFeedback.com, with CBS, NBC and Fox in a horse race for No. 1 among adults 18-49.
As usual, NBC’s Deal or No Deal kicked-off the evening on a winning note, with a 9.8 rating/15 share in the overnights at 8 p.m. Second was an earlier edition of Fox’s 24 (8.4/12), which will certainly challenge Deal or No Deal for dominance among adults 18-49, followed by mid-level CBS comedies How I Met Your Mother (6.2/ 9) and The Class (5.9/ 9). Fourth was ABC’s Wife Swap (5.8/ 9), which has alienated this viewer with its forced “reality,” followed by CW comedies Everybody Hates Chris (2.3/ 4) and All of Us (2.1/ 3). Of concern for the CW should be the year-to-year overnight slippage of 22 percent for All of Us (2.1/ 3 vs. 2.7/ 4 on Monday, Feb. 13 -- opposite The 2006 Winter Olympics on NBC).
CBS, NBC and Fox were neck-and-neck in the overnights from 9-10 p.m. as follows:
Two and a Half Men (CBS) – 9 p.m.: 10.1/14 (#1)
The Rules of Engagement (CBS) – 9:30 p.m.: 8.2/12 (#3)
Heroes (NBC): 9.2/13 (#1t)
24 (Fox): 9.0/13 (#3)

My wife & I watch TV together, our # 1 is Heroes, then we vary, #2 for me is Smallville, she likes Smallville, but not as a fanatic as I, her #2 is Grey's Anatomy, then we both agree on the remainder of series, I suppose we agree on most series like Boston Legal, House and so on. (Of course the Simpsons is in there too for both of us. ;)
Niether of us watch the reality shows, but I will admit we did watch "Who wants to be a Superhero" 'cause we are SUperhero junkies. At least that is what she said, I think she watched it with me 'cause she knows how big of a kid I am when it comes to comic book heroes stuff.

4.3 million for the pilot. Several things need to be taken into account. It was on BBC2 which does not get the ratings of BBC1. They show the next episode straight after on BBC3 which is then repeated in the BBC2 spot the following week if that makes sense so why bother watching a repeat?
However- this show got so much publicity on all BBC channels and it should have done better. to put it into perspective doctor who has never dropped below 5 and a half million in 3 years(and is usually around the 7 million mark on BBC1) but the pilot of heroes didn't even get that much.

actually I was wrong and here they are http://tvbythenumbers.com/category/ratings/nielsen-overnight-tv-show-ratings Heroes did what is being called a disapointing 10 million viewers and viewership fell between hour 1 and 2. Let me explain that last part the number of viewers was the same in the second hour but it got less of the market share. Also viewers were down about a million from last years finale and about 6 million from last years premeire so season two is still hurting the show.

To ansewer your question short term no long term yes. For right now Heroes has a full season order so it is safe for the rest of the year, however each new week is bringing new lows for ratings. The future of the show will probably be determinied after the new year when football and some of the other compitition is lessened. If the show recovers some viewers it should get another season.

I'm hoping that the worst we could see is a time-change. Possibly, if Heroes was moved to 9pm (10pm eastern is 9pm for me) on Mondays, perhaps DWTS wouldn't be killing it in the numbers, and Heroes is a very good late-night show. It'd be easy to lead in with a reality or game show, but weak to follow Heroes with such. They could just do Deal or No Deal for 2 hours then come in with Heroes at 9pm.
I was reading online about how Heroes is #3 in terms of how many people watch the show on DVR (20% or more) and I don't think they'll be cutting back on the show. I think they'll be cutting staff and cast but not the whole show. grim times :(

Heroes is facing the same fate as other shows that didn't return after the strike. I think if NBC wants the show to continue well, they're going to have to move it. Basically do what ABC did with Lost. Lost was getting killed by American Idol so they moved it to a night when it wasn't on. Another idea is next season pull a 24 or a Lost and show it non-stop starting in January when there's no DWTS (I think there's no DWTS after December) and no football.
But these numbers could also come to the result of a lousy second season.

yeah i have also read that the DVR counts on the viewer list and for that reason many shows still are doing great... cause many of dont have time to watch it the same night or time there airing the show.. (maybe working or ECt.) but yeah .. i dont think they will cut the show.. nope not at all.. unless the whole season happens to be aloss ... :)

The thing you have to remember is that even though the ratings are dropping, Heroes continues to be one of the top downloaded shows on the internet. Also, the show has world wide popularity that I believe is not reflected in the ratings. And if Heroes continues like it has the past couple of episodes, I believe we'll eventually see those ratings increase. Don't lose hope in the show just yet.
