My daughter is out of school for Thanksgiving week, so I thought it was Sunday.
WHEW!
I am thinking the cheerleader that needs saving is the one that took credit for saving the man in the trainwreck.
She is the one they put in the newspaper.

hummmm. well we saw a picture of the painting. peter is killed somehow. my guess is he is near clair when this happens wich lets him come back to life and drains claires powers which makes her die like in the painting and peter doesnt fully heal by the time she is gone which leaves the scar. just a guess. cant wait to see what happens next.
that was funyn claire hit that girl lol
STFanatic
11-20-2006, 07:32 PM
But it said Odessa Homecoming on it, so they knew where to go.
I betcha Peter gets "killed" acording to the painting, and comes back using Claire's powers.

I liked it. I didnt want Jackie to die. Yes shes mean, but the death of an innocent girl is never pleasent. Especially when its by a freak murderer. I thought this was the best so far. I wonder what the next theme will be. And mmmaaaannn next weeks looks amazing. Anyone know when this show goes on hiatus?

Fantastic.
I wonder why Peter didn't use Sylar's abilities to fight back or something. Maybe he didn't know how to use them. Or maybe he can't have more than 1 ability at a time and he had Claire's when they fought.
With the previews from next week, I really wonder what is going to happen with the whole Niki/Jessica saga. And where the heck is Hiro!
Again, fantastic episode.

I agree that it was bad that Jackie died, a punch in the eye was enough.
It looks like thirteen episodes are scheduled, so four more to go.

Well when he mysteriously began to heal and twisted his entire lower body back in place, I think he kinda figured out that he could do the same with his feet.
He probably figured it out because he didn't feel the pain. (Remember when Claire had 2 ribs poking out of her and didn't even notice.) That might also explain why he didn't feel his twisted feet since he didn't feel the pain.
One thing we've established is that Sylar doesn't have any healing/invulnerability powers. Only telekenesis.
Luckily Peter can't actually be charged with murder. Any lab report will say that he is covered in his own blood. Also a girl was freakishly murdered the same way hours before his flight arrived. I love this series.

About Peter's ability, I have a theory.
What if, the powers stayed in his body for a limited amount of time after the super-powered and him weren't together anymore. Follow me here, Peter visited Isaac, saw the painting of him flying and then hours after, he flew with Nathan. Now the weird part is that at the hospital, he is able to draw the future even if Isaax isn't anywhere near that place.
Maybe Peter can have more than one power at a time, but didn't know how to use Sylar's or he didn't what they were. Afterall, it was the first time Peter ever even heard of that guy.
So we got:
#1: Peter can only use one ability at a time and the whole drawing the future thing was a plothole.
#2: Peter didn't know how to use Sylar's powers or it happened too fast.
I'm leaning for #2.

in issacs painting they had ando and hiro at the school right? so did hiros time travel screw that up cause wouldnt he have done that anyway and if the painting still is supposed to come true does this mean hiro will catch up back in time and the whole cheerleader saving thing has to be done over? like due to a time rift like future hiro told peter?

I actually found the episode to be anti-climatic after the hype. The only 'hero' who ends up trying to 'save the cheerleader, save the world' is Peter? That's not what I got from the promos. My other gripe with the story is the Sanders/D.L. arc and the lack of a connection between it and the rest of the characters and their arcs. Yes, some of their paths have crossed, but their stories are as yet too disparate, IMO.

I like that Eden's power has some flaw. She must speak, which, I am sure will play into the plot.
I want to know how they plan to contain Sylar. Unless that have the Hasitan(sp?) completely wipe him then I can't really see them controlling him for too long.

I think we assumed he was a bad guy because of his seemingly shady organisation. Since we didn't really know about, we assumed it was bad. Even though we're not sure yet what their goals are, I'm pretty sure they're not bad guys. It was a big giveaway for me when they released the cop.

Been quite busy so I didn't get a chance to comment on Homecoming until now. It was an awesome episode. Really great. It seems like each episode gets better than the last. I really liked the developments with Mohinder, and the interaction with Peter and Claire was outstanding. I know it is wrong to root for two characters that have such a huge age difference to get together, but they have really great chemistry. Really cool showdown with Sylar and Peter as well, although I could see the self healing bit coming from a mile away as soon as Claire and Peter bumped into each other. I also liked getting to see what Eden can do as well.
The tagline up until now, has been "Save the cheerleader, save the world". But I have been wondering this whole time, how exactly Claire could be killed. Any damage Sylar does, would be useless because Claire's body would heal itself. But it was great to see Peter gain her power and take on Sylar. You would think that since Peter saved HRG's daughter, that he would use some pull to get him released.
* By the way, was anybody else happy when Jackie bought it?
I have a feeling that next week's episode will be the best episode of the season hands down. It will be great to see Hiro go back in time, and be able to see the past for each character, and how they discover themselves. My only question with this, is that wasn't the eclipse responsible for triggering the abilities for each character? Since the eclipse won't happen until months after the episode takes place, how do the characters know about their abilities?
My only gripe with the episode per usual, is not getting to see all the characters. Instead of switching off between characters every episode, it would be awesome if they could develop them all in every episode.

Yes but Claire would die if Slyar removed her brain like he does to all his victims.
vyperman7
11-26-2006, 01:34 PM
My point though was that Sylar wouldn't be able to get to Claire's brain because her head would repeatedly heal itself when Sylar would try to cut into it. If her ability is basically the same as Wolverine's watch the end of X3 (if you haven't already seen it)/ JG is flinging all sorts of stuff at him, and as soon as he gets inflicted with an injury, it instantly heals. It seems like the same would apply to Claire as well. So while you are right about the removal of her brain, my question is, with Claire's instant healing ability, how would Sylar get to her brain in the first place?

This episode was ACTION PACKED!!! All of the build up with "Save the Cheerleader, save the World." I don't know what I expected but this DID NOT disappoint. I loved Peter's journey this episode. I loved being inside of the painting with Peter and Claire. I loved that Peter did indeed die but because he soaked up Claire's power... Poor Jackie.
It was great.

I think if he sliced into her skull quickly enough he could get it... Especially if he peirced her brain or something. Her healing power comes from her brain so...

The writers made us really get attached to a character (Charlie & Eden) then, took her away in a blink of an eye, then gave us hope that she would be saved and yanked that rug from under us.
I know it helped move the story along, and not every victim of Sylar could be a detached character, but I really liked Charlie.
Maybe it was the way Hiro felt afterwards that made me want her around, but still, she would have been good to keep around.
It goes to show just how well these writers are at what they do.

yeah ^^^ :( about charlie...it makes you think "what happened after Hiro returned to the future? How charlie feels?"...so sad.
In that HEROES and LOST are kind of alike, you never know if the character it can last the whole season of just a week. At least I think that Charlie have probabilities of a future return, not like Eden :(

You have to remeber also that until the stick was pulled out of her head she was dead, so I think if there was no brain (especially the part that heals her) she would be dead.

Her healing ability takes time like in Genesis where her hip takes time to regenerate. If Sylar wanted to, he could cut open her skull and take the brain before it heals. Or, as gross as it is, he could take it out through her nose and she wouldn't be able to heal because she lost her brain.

One of the classic episodes. Can you have classics after there’s only been 34 episodes? And it’s not even classic until 30 minutes into the episode. Not a whole lot happens up until that point, but from there on things get moving like crazy! Yay for plot advancement and action!
I love the music in the opening scene with Claire and the Homecoming Queen announcement. I do not like, however, Jackie’s delivery of “I don’t believe it. ” It sounds like amateur hour.
Nathan is still an *******. And when I first saw this episode, I was so upset when he threw that paint on the painting from Linderman. I was convinced (in true Heroes fashion) that the painting’s subject wasn’t going to be revealed for another eight episodes or so. So when Simone shows Peter the image of the painting, I was extremely relieved. Any more teasers or cliffhangers and I was going to scream.
Jessica scares the crap out of me! And I love her for it. That’s one big gun. And once again, Noah is an amazing little actor! I love his explanation of who Jessica is. Scene stealer.
We learn in this episode how Sylar kills people. But does he eat the brains, or just dissect them? I’m hoping he just pulls them apart to see how they work, because I think eating them is too messy for him, and too primal. He seems more detached than that. More…clinical.
Okay, when I first saw Peter and Claire talk in the hall by the trophy case I could totally see them progressing to Claire having a crush on him and Peter having to tell the sweet high school girl that he was involved with Simone or something. There was such immediate chemistry between them! And now I feel icky for thinking that. But that’ll come up later.
Sylar. Zachary Quinto. This guy is one of my vices. I’m going to try very, very hard not to be one of those ridiculous fans who blubber around about how attractive an actor is. He’s a real person somewhere who probably thinks these kind of things are the epitome of creepy. So I’m stating for the record that he’s beautiful, and I’ll be professional from here on out.
The attack in the locker room was very well done. The blood spatter is wrong, considering it’s never sprayed like that before and never does after, but it’s cool to finally see Sylar’s signature finger-slice. As always, the morph-heal Claire does is very cool, and everything else that continues on from that point is just pure badass. I like the camera move as it follows Claire and Peter as they run down the hall, and I love the locker doors as Sylar flings them at Peter (especially since we’ve seen this in Isaac’s painting). Milo does a wonderful job ducking around, considering he wasn’t actually working with anything. Kudos to Milo and the CGI locker people.
Milo and Hayden do a great, intense job at the top of the stairs, but when Sylar gets up to the top of the stairs and he and Peter go over the edge, it looks pretty awkward. The two of them posed on the ground after the fall looked good, though, and I love that we get a shot of Peter from the angle of the painting.
I would like to know how Sylar keeps getting up and leaving after major injury! Does he already have some super strength or something? He looks a little beat up as he stumbles into the woods, but generally in much better shape than Peter was in after the fall. This scene is where I started liking Eden. Well, no, I didn’t mind her much when she began standing up to HRG about Isaac. But here I think her part isn’t overacted, she’s not too cutesy, and I want her entire outfit.
Bits and Pieces:
* Nice line: “Do you have any idea what it means for me to miss this game?!” “You’ll survive. ”
* Nice popped collar, Milo. I hear that was entirely your idea. Very cool.
* I love that piano… My favorite is the motif as Chandra walks away as he says “So be it,” in one of Mohinder’s dream sequences, and again as Mohinder wakes from it.
* How in the world is Shanti not Mohinder’s first attempt at cracking his father’s password? This genius geneticist has a box of rocks for a brain sometimes. At least he’s pretty.
* Names included on The List: Felipe Acerra, DL Hawkins, Byron Bevington, Niki Sanders, Daniel Buzzetti, Isaac Mendez, Tracy Chobham, Nicholas Datre, Paula Gramble, Curtis Hovsepian, Nathan Petrelli, Noel Menzies, Penkala Burton, Teresa Hue Pham, Matthew Parkman, Hiro Nakamura, David Berman, Adam Soo Hoo, Linda Tavara, Norman Ventris. Partials include Leonie, Sparrow, Amid H. , Michael, Candace (is this who we meet later?), Harry, Ethan, Abu, Frank, Diego, Jess.
* Sound editing misstep: the canned, boring, obviously mismatched scream they attribute to Claire as she runs up the stairs away from Sylar. It’s awful.
* Too bad we have to wait until the next episode to hear from Sylar. He’s another one of the Heroes actors with a wonderful speaking voice.
Til next episode, or visit my website for more reviews!
