Is Tom Welling filming Cheaper by the Dozen 3 during Smallville this season? I can't understand why TPTB would think reducing Clark in Smallville would make it more appealing. His role in tonights epi was very small, hardly any powers no in the last two episodes.

I hate how Clark is portrayed. I hate how he is always saved by someone else. He doesn't fight at all, he is always manhandled. The CW to me has not been good for Clark Kent.....I don't say these things to make the show go away, I say them because I want to see good episodes about Clark and his journey. Some episodes have been entertaining, but we need more Clark. I hope the second half of the year will meet my expectations.

Umm could it be that the producers really did not plan on having a show that would last 6 seasons long? Think about it, all of the filler GA stuff this season and all of the Lexana stuff is only in the show to justiy future decisions made by people other than Clark. The show is is mostly filler for "Clark=Star" fans. However if you start to view the show as SMALLVILLE=Cast of 7/8 Stars, you won't be dissapointed.

The only thing I can think of is that the powers that be are bored with the clark character and lexana is more fun for them to write, which is a sad shame. I want to see more superman centric plot lines, like the martain manhunter is great.

Clark wasn't in this ep much, but what Clark there was, was good. Clark went on his own investigation and found Aldar. That's BIG for him. Clark got on my nerves when he blew off Lexana needing help, but no worries they didn't need him anyways! So there! :p And the whole Clark being secretive towards Chloe didn't sit right with me either.

Spidymich to the TPTB: "Whatever happened to this show being about Clark?"

TPTB talking amongst themselves: "Clark, is he..in..this..show?"
-"Um, yeah I ah think he is."
-"Oh yeah, he's the guy that wears that red jacket all the time. Yeah we gave hime some screen time, but not too much. Lex and Lana are hot right now."

Spidymich: "What the @#$& are you @#$%&!* thinking! 'Lex and Lana are hot right now?' Of all the...{goes on angry rant&rave and then starts to gag. Recieves glass of water and stops gagging, but is still very pissed.}

Even though I'm pissed about the lack of Clark as well, Tom Welling was busy preparing for his directorial return in Hydro.

That's probably the most likely reason. That and.... Lexana ARE hot right now! :p

I think they are setting things up for a big payoff in the Clark-Lex saga... I'd say just be patient as long as the stories are decent and they aren't doing the whole guest star of the week thing like the stunts that IMO killed L&C

JG, AoT, AA and ED are all burning up all their epis pretty early in the season, the second half will have lots and lots of Clark and more Clark after that.

And as much as I watch the show mostly cause of Clark, with the SV writing, over exposure usually ends up hurting the character. Having too much screentime, when there isnt a lot of plot, usually means, having that character doing something wrong, bad, immoral or worst... subplots involving ANGST!!! just to fill up time.

I guess that you are more optimistic than me. JG, AoT, AA and ED might be burning up their episodes early, but we're still going to see plenty of lex and lana, the two that literally stole the show from Clark this episode, which is a disgrace since this episode should've been about Clark going after Batista.

I don't like Lexana either. I watch the show with my younger brother, and every time Lexana comes on the scene, and Lex says something like "I love you" or "I'll always be by your side" I always loudly whisper in an accusatory manner "LIAR!" And I'm always adding commentary like "Don't listen to him, Lana!" And taking into account the way Lana's been acting lately (i.e. channeling her dark side), I even joked that the baby will be 3/4-evil, 1/4-whiny. So yeah...I don't like Lexana...their scenes always seem so staged and fake...there's no natural-ness like there is between Clark and everyone else

As for Clark getting beat down and playing smaller roles in the first stretch of this season, I suspect that TPTB want the effects/importance of his training, time spent talking to Ollie, Raya and such to be noticeable.

If he was consistently going around Smallville/Metropolis completely unleashing his power in amazing ways, stopping crime all over the place, and using his intellect to solve mysteries at this point, what would be the point of his training? He'd already be good enough to best what is being thrown at him.

Hopefully after he takes care of all of the baddies and reinitiates his training and focus, we'll see a stronger, more responsbile, and impressive Clark. That's where my #hope# is for the way the character has been portrayed so far this season.

Then from there they can go on with him feeling conflicted by trying to pick and choose who he helps, struggling with being Clark the "hero" with Clark the normal guy, and balancing time between his family and doing good deeds just as Clark, w/o getting caught. Wrap that in with the subplots and characters, and I think TPTB have a good plot w/ tension to last through a season 7.

I agree. I thought the B story had a lot more potential than yet another "let's rescue Lex" episode. It had a real classic X-Files feel at first, with the gruesome deaths and boxes o' people. They just let it crumble, though, and made Clark look ineffectual.

Finally someone else besides me think that there is a lack of clark kent these days.

There is WAY to much lexana going on this season.. i know the show is called smallville but it should be called LEXANA. Dont get me wrong i love that shipper but come i had enough..

This season is very disappointing me to me.. sometimes i dont even want to tune in. and thats bad to say because im a HUGE fan. but the writers are losing me..

I agree with SVSpector i would like to see more of clark on his destiny journey.. but i understand once they do that the show is pretty much over.. But come people make some good episodes that will make me want to stay..

Thank god I'm not the only one missing Clark.

Does anyone know if he's appeared before the opening credits this season?

Tonight was Lex/Lana and there's seem to have been a lot with Oliver Queen.

The CW hates Clark Kent. I wouldn't be surprised if they went ahead with the Death of Superman plot and have Doomsday kill Clark in a very grisly way( smashed to death). And then they would make Lex and Lana the main characters in their strange twisted comic universe.

I always thought Smallville was about the Rise of Superman. Where Clark slowly gets stronger and more mature. I guess I was wrong. If only these writers could take a lesson from the Batman Begins crew.

The CW people need to stop being pansies and greedy hogs.

AlMiles needed to get clarification within the first 5 episodes this season whether or not they are to end the show or not. The reason we don't see much of Clark lately is a clear indication that his storyline is nearing its end.

I do like that they are trying to use the Lexana ship to help drive Lex overboard and finally bring closure to Lana. But without AlMiles knowing for sure whether this is the last season or not, they show more of other characters instead of Clark-centered episodes just in case they have to bring everything to a close in the last 6 episodes.

That makes sense. It would really be a shame if they just wrote the show to be good and stopped worrying about dragging it out for as long as it could go.

next week they just kill clark off and turn smallville into the lex and lana show. then again they could actually be reading this thread so it's best not to give them ideas.
