black and purple seem to be reoccuring themes with them both

lana may still wear white occasionally but there is usually black beneath it...

True but I think they have them wear those colors to show the couple is a dark couple.

I think they're definitely trying to mirror Lana's descent into evil (or at least Lex's world) through her wardrobe. Black helps do this well. I think if we see her in blue or pink and casual clothes again, then it will likely mirror her getting away from Lex.

Lana wearing black/purple is obviously symbolism for her changing, from her young, cute appearance, to an older, sophisticated... and evil appearance.

I don't see her becoming evil, but she has broadened her horizens over time. It's just ashame she can't get over her abandonment issues and quit clinging to boyfriends!
