When my daughter was that age, she did that all the time, they grow out of it, but they find other ways to disturb your slumber time.

Saturday is the day I get to sleep in, but my 11 year old cranks up the volume on the cartoons, my bedroom is way on the other side of the house, yet hearing the cartoon sound effects jerks me out of dreamland fast!

Back in the 80's & 90's I used to chase tornados.
We caught several over those years.
One chased us a while.
Notice the car up in the air somehow no one died in this storm:

Wow! You got that close to that giant vortex of terror! That's pretty impressive that no-one died in that car though.

Apparently, England has the most tornadoes in the world, statistically. But as it's only a tiny island, nearly all of them are really small and rubbish, and nowhere near as noticeable as your one in the pic.

Except for the odd one we had in Birmingham last year....

Completely missed the 1987 Hurricane, I was 9 years old, and I slept soundly all the way through it!
