Are the fight scenes getting shorter?!?

Is it me or are the fight scenes getting shorter and shorter? I mean first 'Zod', then 'Wither', and now the fortress scene in 'Fallout' - was pretty short too, no? Are tptb trying to save money, or what? Has TW become too chubby? Do they need more time for commercials?
I think that's strange...

This episode was just shy of 40 minutes. Basically 1/3 of this hour-long program are commercials!

Guess those Smallville actors are asking for Bigville salaries!
