Did this line to Martha in tonights episode hint at Clark deciding to fly?
Seriously, Clark mentioned hating flying in S4 because it made him feel less human "terrified, because if I could do that, maybe I could do anything"
With his destiny, will he accept his greatest power?

Probably wishful thinking/reading too much into it. But I sure wouldn't mind if you turned out to be right. :)

'greatest power'?
Heh.... in your opinion. Personally, I'd go for the invulnerability.... I mean I want to fly... and it's the coolest power IMO, but greatest?

I just liked the fact that they let Clark make a stand for his people and his destiny. Maybe we'll hear the end of all the complaints regarding Clark's lack of development.

I felt so incredibly proud of Clark in that scene. Our boy looks like he's finally growing up. I have hope, people. :)

When he said he wasn't running from his destiny anymore, I did think about flying. Not because of what he said, but because the music started and he turned and I honestly expected him to launch himself into the air. LOL!

I would love to think you've got something there, but tptb are very no flights, no tights... and they might be too cautious to break their own rule for seeming like they couldn't hold their ground (even though EVERYONE wants him to fly) to pressure from the audience.
But I really think he should fly cuz it would be awesome. and a tv show's objective is to give the audience what it WANTS.

I would forget the no flights rule, it was BS and this show is about money when one gets down to the bottom line. Flying by ClarkMan would help the bottom line of this program.

do you think that Martha was also afraid? Of losing her son so soon after Jonathan either afraid he would die or him becoming someone that would no longer need or have time for her.

Arrgghh at this point I really dislike the "No Flights, No Tights" mantra. Give us some flying!

Amen! Preach it! It's the fan base that keeps a show on the air and if they don't give the fans what they want the show will quickly go off the air! To Heck with The Powers That Be! Our boy is indeed turning into the Superman we all knew he could be! Now the writers just need to take their heads out of the sand and launch the boy into the air and slap some tights on him!
I still hear John Williams' soundtrack playing softly somewhere and it wasn't even on the episode!

I'm sure those things crossed her mind. It'd be only what mother naturally think when kids leave.

I doubt it. If Clark ever does fly on SV, it will probably be in the last few episodes of the series. I think Clark will be more pro-active. That he will become more knowledgeable and worldly on serious matters. No more complaining from him ::crossing fingers::

Clark meant figuratively--from his destiny... geez.

I took it to mean, he isn't running from his destiny/training with Jor-El for his higher purpose..

Everyone keeps asking how long Clark's Kryptonian training will take, but since this is a new spin on the Superman legend, it could (theoretically) take however long Al & Miles want it to. In my opinion, it'd be cool to stretch it out across the rest of Season 6, by having him stand in that swirling vortex we saw in the Season 5 opener. Y'know, ever spare moment where he's not evading Lana, confronting Lex, being pals with Chloe, wanting to knock jimmy senseless, or having insult fights with Lois...

HE AINT GONNA FLY! Fan base or not...when you signed on to start watching this program did you really think, "Oooo, if I can just watch up to Season 5 or so, they'll drop the "no flights, no tights" stuff and just let him fly around all the time. C'MON!!!
I personally don't want to see him fly. They stuff they are doing with the sparse flying and the jumping is cool enough for me. I think the more they keep him on the ground the more the "Fan base" will keep watching....and hoping for flight. They are just sucking us in. He ain't gonna fly!

I think that its cool that TW is now comfortable with having flight scenes (more than likely because of the shows low ratings in comparisons to most prime time shows on local channels)
If they get the word that this is the last season, the will likely only make us wait until Justice for a flight scene.
And just so everyone knows, I am almost 100% sure he WILL fly in the Justice eppy. So if he doesn't, feel free to run over any weirdo guy running around with a blue hanger and a ninja mask. ;)

First off, the question is not whether Clark meant "I'm gonna fly", it's if it was a hint dropped by the writer.
Secondly, Clark has flown and floated several times already. The reason for "No tights, no flights" was because AlMiles didn't think teens wanted to see Superman. They pointed out in a Superman doco (think it was called "Up, Up and Away- came out around time of SR) that after Sept. 11, people wanted to see Superman, so that kind of changed their attitudes on it. A la, why we have all this mythos stuff. Now we have the Daily Planet(as a regular set), Lois Lane, even Jimmy Olsen. We are going to be some flying soon, I do not doubt it. As for tights? It'll be in the finale, though I wouldn't protest seeign it beforehand. Clark's journey to Superman doesn't end when he first puts on the suit, then he is Clark in teh Superman suit. It concievably could be shown of Clark first taking up the rols of Superman. It's not a lightswitch change, or at least, it shouldn't be...

I agree! It took him a bit of time, but he finally got there. And he looked so headstrong when he said that "im not running anymore.. i'll embrace my destiny" part in the end.
I got the feeling that he's finally REALLY glad to be different /special, and that he's ready to use it to help the world. Gone are the days where Clark would say "i wish i were normal"
thank god!!! :D

Please. If they listened to the fans they'd take care of priority number 1: Killing Lana. Heck, they'd kill her every episode (a la Kenny from South Park) just for the fun of it:
Clark: I killed Lana!
Lex: You hero!
I'm with you though, paolinki25. I too have hope. :)

Well, I won't argue about the Lana thing... She seems to have a serious bounty on her head where the fans are concerned:lol: .
But, hey, I can hope can't I? In truth, the world right now, in the shape that it's in, needs a hero, even if it's only a fictional one. It's our heroes which inspire us to be heroic. So far our hero per se, CK, has really not lived up to those responsibilities either in his world, or ours. It would be nice if he would. Perhaps if he would fulfill his destiny in Smallville, he would be an inspiration to the real world to turn back from the path that Krypton took, which, let's face it, we're on in a big way. This is the nature of stories, true or not; they inspire us to be better than we are.
