kinda, but i hope not.
yeah, if the season finale is Clark taking up the training with Jor-El, then what will next season be about? After the training, he's basically Superman right?

Yes I really get the feeling that it might be the end soon, with Clark going to take Jor-El's training, I think the only thing that might make another season go on would be a final shot at creating the Lex/Clark battle, or some kind of justice league set up.

Yeah, I got that feeling, too. But I must say that at least the writers are doing a good job of setting it up. Clark's change of heart was very believable and emotional, and I think it gives them great momentum because we have more battles with Zoners to look forward to.

This isnt the last season. Just because hes training with Jor-El doesnt meen hes Superman. He only becomes Superman when he puts on the suit and flies. Next season will be the last.

Yes, I can see them incorporating his training into a full season, like season 7. After all, we should get to see his training. It will give the writers a chance to dig deep into the superman archives and pull out as many kryptonian facts as possible so that they can mention them in this show.

Yup, they've milked the whole "Superman Origin" thing for 6 years, it's 'bout that time.

Based on some information I came across, SMALLVILLE is the CW's second highest rated show [behind "...Next Top Model"] so a 7th season is highly likely. [Pray for "Supernatural" though, it's getting KILLED in the ratings and any hope of better ratings for the show went out the window thanks to the return of "The O.C."]
Now that Clark has started to embrace his destiny, I think season 7 will be the transition between the BDA we know and love to the worldly SUPERMAN, with a little of the JLA action thrown in, and the first confrontations between Supes and Lex Luthor.
Now unless season 7 really takes off creatively, then it should and it must be the last. Don't hang around too long, you'll have "ER" syndrome [a show that used to be really, really good, then it just sits there taking up space].

Maybe smallville will fast forward 12 years in season 7, and we'll see a fully trained clark, but no costume yet. In the John Byrne take on supes, he went public all smallville like, in regular duds, to catch an experimental space plane.

I agree we should get to see him train, but honestly when I first heard him say those words I thought it may be the last season 2.But then again I think tptb jus put that in there incase this is the last so the can wrap things up at the end of the season. But if they get renewed which I'm bettin on since they r 1 of the longest runnin shows on the cw,then I can see them stretchin the trainin out thruout season 7.

At the very least, this was the first time Smallville acknowledged that it's about at the end of it's rope.
Once the training is done, the show is done. Doesn't matter what you hope or want, it's simple logic.
Sure TPTB could extend his time before training, but know this, once he enters, thats it. Last scene will be Tom standing in the FOS in a blue suit.
The training is the end game for this series.

Yeah, i think it does make sense to keep it going for one more season. I think that it makes sense for season 7 about the training, what he learns from it, and what how he changes after it. An end this season just seems to premature. Seven Seasons feel just right. Hey, anybody notice how there was some empathy between clark and lana this episode? Good to see.

My friends and I have been talking about this for a while now and everyone of them keeps telling me that this is the last season. I have been the lone voice in the dark telling them that the CW will not let a high rated show off the air with the network only one year old but after Fallout; we may have seen the begain of the end.

Gough and Millar did say that they have planned out 7 seasons. And I have been saying for a long time that they would title next season 'Superman', so... looks like that's going to come true.

A 7 season package gets a good deal for selling the show for syndication, so they'll at least do that. If the show is still making money after that, and they can keep both Welling and Rosenbaum when their contracts expire after the 7th season, it's possible the show could run longer, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I think that actually showing the "training" would be boring. Unlike Rocky, I think that physical training scenes would be silly for Superman. Is Jor-El going to have Clark chase a bunch of Kryptonian chickens around the FOS? I doubt it. In the only other training scene we saw at the start of the season, Clark was standing in the beam absorbing information from Jor-El.
I think there's a good chance that Clark will not finish his training this season. It could be put off indefinitely as Clark continues to be occupied with weekly villians. It was never stated how long it would take Clark to finish his training. You would think he would want to finish his training BEFORE going after the zoners, but I think the writers want to delay the training story for awhile.

They may even drag it out to an 8th season due to the fact that the CW may want to keep one of their best shows around so they can make enough money to persue other projects. The next Superman movie isnt due out until 2009. This could meen that a Superman show could be in the works, but lets not hold our breath. I do however suspect that next season will be the last.

I could see it going either way... I think they are shooting for 7 seasons... and I feel that there is that much story left to tell... but as with last season, they know the show could end at any time and they want to end with a bang. :)

I think I might cry if the final scene is of him getting his training, and then it fades to black. Only to fade back in with him in the Fortress, and he flys out towards the camera with the suit on, ala the first movie. End of show.
As much as this show has frustated me in recent seasons, the last couple of episodes have restored my faith a little in the writers, and I'm starting to believe they are winding down the show. If it ends with that scene that I just mentioned, yep, I'll cry.

It all depends on the ratings... I could end now or next year. I'm hoping for at least one more season!

Nooooo!
He said he's ready to accept his destiny and get his training , BUT FIRST , he said he has to make sure than every "Zoner" is either killed or returned to the Phantom Zone. That could take a while and lots of other stuff can happen in between. And we only know that 2 including Rhya are def dead. Was tonight's zoner killed for certain? It looked like he just escaped the body he inhabited.

I think there will be a season 7 and it will definitely be the final season. It will be the season of training. He has to still get flight (permanently) and I strongly believe this will happen in season 7. I also think his relationship with Lana will have to be repaired and that it can't happen within this season. And we also have to see Chloe & Lionel's fate since they're not in the mythos. I really hope Pete returns as a regular for S7.

He was sucked in the crystal.
As far as the FOS, it now has been restored as seen by the glowing at the end of the episode by the S crystal. My question is what happened to all the energy it had up until Fine was stabbed with the dagger? Is that energy remotely stored in the black ship and can the ship focus that on bringing back Fine? It was an immense amount of energy for Jor-El to do all he did, so it must be somewhere. Energy like that if unleashed would probably make a nuclear explosion pale in comparison.

I think so. But I think the crystal harnessed the energy that Baern sucked out of the black box.

The show is about Clark becoming Superman. His training is part of that process. I totally believe we can get an incredilble season seven with him training and starting to use that training in world, without resorting to putting him in a suit. This is taking into account that they don't assume his training is like Superman the movie, where he was in the Fortress for 18 years training.

The training doesn;t have to last that long, heck one year woudl be more than enough.
Everyone else seems to arive on Earth and are able to do almost everything already, Clark should be ahead on the learning cruve.
