While I don't expect Bruce to show up in town, I think Wayne Enterprises owns the Daily Planet -- or will someday. How's that for a direct Wayne Manor connection to our lovable, angst-ridden pals in SV?

Maybe they'll have Lex yelling in a phone: "Alfred, you just tell Bruce that no Wayne will ever call the shots at the Daily Planet!!!"

When the camera panned down behind the car to show the leaking fluid I actually thought it was instead going to show a Wayne licence plate or something.

But of course we would have learned if it was Bruce Wayne in the flash back clips.

In one of the very first episodes of the 1st season, Lex was kidnapped by someone he had apparently killed (or caused the death of) and it turned out the guy was a lookalike of the dead guy. Anyway, another character said that he had found the lookalike by accident in "Bludhaven". Bludhaven, for anyone who doesn't know, is a city right next to Gotham, and was the setting for Knightwing and more recently Robin and Batgirl, and has been described as much worse and more corrupt than Gotham.

i know, that's what i was thinking afterwards, like "why even bother throwing it out there if you know you'll never have Batman on the show?" but i guess it was a shout out to fans, and i liked it.

I think they mentioned Gotham in either season four or five. I think Chloe says something and Clark replies "Can you say that a little louder, I don't think they heard you in Gotham city." I could be messing it up because for the life of me I can't remember what episode it was, but that line sticks in my mind. Either way, any mention of Gotham is welcome in my book, even if we don't get to see the big black bat.
