It was funny when he got hit by the car. At least it was in the director's cut.:p

I am waiting to see the finished scene, the director cut usually doesn't have all the effects added in.
The look on young Ollie's face echoed my thoughts.

How many special effects can a scene like that have though?... None really =/

The three boys where so upset and shocked at what Lex did to Ducan because he was all blood and badly hurt and it was the same thing they do to emotionally.

There all just as bad as each other (ecpect Ducan of course)

I actually felt really bad for the guy :S Poor him and Lex was looking totally out of him and insane...

i thought the way that ollie reacted to the car hitting duncan made it a little bit comedic. it was his facial expression and tone of voice when he yelled out "duncan!".

with that aside, i agree that this situation played a part of why lex is the way he is.

kids can be cruel.

Lex did seem slightly rude to Duncan.

That bald-head betraying B**** ran through my mind through the scene.

Lex is insane. Lana better watch out. She might decide to change the color scheme of the mansion and as punishment he might throw her out of a window. <.<

It's a shame when we get to see a little kid play Lex Luthor with more evilness than TPTB allow Rosenbaum to be.

I have to say... I did laugh when the car came along, but up until then... Lex did indeed seem more 'evil' than he is now.

Coyote

Lex didn't seem "evil". Just very screwed up in the head. He had totally lost control when he was pounding the kid, and may not have even realized what he was doing. When he came to his senses he was honestly sorry, but it was too late. Year after year of being tormented by Lionel and bullying jerks like Oliver turned Lex into a time bomb waiting to explode. This traumatic incident seemed to have had a positive effect on Oliver, and may have set him on the path of trying to help the poor and downtrodden like Duncan, instead of bullying them. It seems to have set Lex on a much darker path.

How can some of you feel remorse.. like that and the BEATING LEX took from OLIVER was the BEST FIGHT SCENE SMALLVILLE has showed on any EPP hands down. I loved the fact that Duncan got made... That was so insane and gutsy for the writers to keep that in there.. I loved the amount of violence we go in this EPP

It almost made me naseous (sp?) seeing Duncan's face and what he said to the guys.

Was it just me or did that car hit look a little planned? I half expected Oliver to say that one of their dads hired a car to hit Duncan. That car was going really fast and it came completely out of nowhere!

Luthor5339
10-26-2006, 09:47 PM
I would say the car is the only death that I didn't like. It was just too over the top.

And as a really weird and funny coincidence- this weeks Supernatural episode ALSO had a dude hit by a car! Well, a bus- but same death sequence.

The Smallville way was over the top, whereas the Supernatural way was underplayed, tense, and seriously creepy.

Just- didn't like that SV car scene. Could have been much better.

I didnt think that Lex had a reason to beat him up. It was so stupid....lazy writing. It would have been so much better if Duncan AND Lex had gotten beaten up by Oliver and his crew just for Duncan not wanting to be a part of it. And then afterwards, Lex punching Duncan around for costing him his popularity before the car hitting him.

It was funny when he got hit by the car. You would think that drivers on Smallville would learn to watch out for "deer" on the highways.
Lex snapped! Like when he beat to death his imaginary companion Louis in "Exile".

I agree. that wasn't evil lex, that was a screwed up kid who snapped. To me when Lex was actully hitting him, he was beating all his self hatred, hatred of his father, hatred at being bullied for years on Ducan. He lost it, he wasn't evil. I'm not excusing what he did or anything but I understand to a point. The whole thing was full of sucky writting so....

I was bullied when I was young so to me Oliver and his friends are nothign but trash. THe only thing that bearly saved Olivers character in my eyes is the fact he did feel bad and seems to be trying to make up for it. I don't like how every future superhero has do do somethign bad or dark or illegal,

Flash and Aquaman both did illegal stuff, Clark and Oliver both have done dark, horrible things, that Angel girl from season 5 killed a man. There no guys who follow the law and haven't done dark, horrible thigns in the past. That was always superman to me but thta's just me.

Hey even Lois partied so hard she was thrown out of college, Lucy sister is a theft, Lana's a ex-druggy who so emothionally messed up its' not funny. Jor_el is some kind of monster who burns his own son to make a point. Gees no wonder DC didn't want SV to have Batman and Wonder Woman.

I thought it worked, and it did make me sad. But this Lex behaved oddly. Shouldn't he looked like a younger version of what he had in Season 1?

I said this once and I'll say it again, WHERE IS THIS LEX LUTHOR?!?!?!

This is Lex Luthor, the psycho twisted bald that killed people with his bare hands AND can be a cold ruthless mastermind at the same time.

I think Lana is standing in between of lex being a true evil villian.
Now if you want to remove lana, I am all for it.

This was completley OOC for Lex. There was no reason for him to lay into Duncin like that. If anything it should have been the other boys not Lex. Additionally, having a putative hero like Ollie be that far over the bend in reards to being nasty and snotty to another kis, even when he was young was not only unnecessary but again, OOC. There are other scenarios that would have worked without making both the hero and the villain look really bad.

Lex is a nut job.. And i was happy to see Oliver throw him around.. I wish Duncan didnt interfere, because Lex has a temper and in this case would have got owned big time.

I wish Ollie beat him more.
I did enjoy the comment "First one is free, next one will cost you."

Did you see the weight on the bench press? They are trying to say Ollie can bench 405 lbs.

I guess since they're making Clark look like a completely helpless idiot half of the time, they have to tone down the current Lex as well to balance things out...

the fight itself was intense...you could see the hatred in lex eyes...but you kno i just would have thought lex being rich n all you think the guy would have friends..but i guess the whole bald thing made him a freak to all the other rich kids..but yea poor dunkin...all he wanted to do was to not be bullied..n there goes his best friend kickin his a$$ how terrible..then i knew he was goin to get hit by a car..you could tell...
but the way he was hit was like WHOA OMG and i liked how Oliver felt for the guy ever since..Lex on the other hand...crazzzzzy lol

If Oliver hadn't of stopped Lex, there wouldn't of been a car accident, Duncan would have been beatean to death, at least in unconsiousness.

I just got through watching the episode and I laughed again when poor Duncan got hit by the car. :\

Was it just me or was the punching scene in the director's cut more intense and bloodthirsty? It seemed a bit watered down in the final version. Rather disappointing.
