hmmm i have a hard time with this... i hope it is just something lynel is doing so he can get the rock from lex, if lynel really is bad... it is going to really get nasty when clark finds out. and if lynel really is bad, it is posible he will tell lex clarks secret.

I think he's just playing lex. Lionel knows everything, and if he is bad, with the kents as allies, lex doesn't stand a chance, unless he willingly agrees to be zod again.

Lionel is a smart man. He won't betray Clark because he knows the consequences are too great. And plus Jor-el might come back and do away with Lionel(hypothetical)
Right now I think Lionel will play Lex close so he can feed Clark information.

I think he is deep down still the same to a large exten at least. I don't believe a person can just change who they are to such a huge extent. But I think Lionel thinks he is. I think he is liking the idea of being good. It gets him in the good graces of Martha and Clark. But I think like Lex mentioned, Lionel has almost convinced himself of that fact. (But it's not true, even if he wanted it to be true, imo).

Yeah the look on Lionels face after lex said about how he was just convincing himself shows that there is still some dark side to lionel.

Lionel has already convinced himself that he didn't kill his parents and now he is convincing himself that he is good.
Deep down, I think there is some darkness in Lionel, but the good surpresses it. Lionel was the Oracle and knows the consequences of kryptonian technology. I think he is looking out for the world.

Lionel is delusional and not very stable if he's convincing himself that he hasn't done things he actually did and is opposite of the way he was before. I think this further shows darkness as well. I think he may want to be different now for a time, and is actually trying, but it doesn't mean he truly is.

I think Lionel will save Clark in a big way by the end of the season.

Lionel will probaly die with the secret before lex gets it out of him. Lex knowing the secret would totaly kill the future of superman, so it will probaly never happen.

I just hope TPTB sort out Lionel's agenda.

Not everybody does! I love Lionel, good or bad, but my favorite Lionel was when he was at the height of his MB-ish powers. It actually kind of hurt me to see him in a weakened position tonight.

I think that Lionel may have a secret agenda but he isn't about to backstab Clark, he knows what Clark is capable of.

Fair enough, everyone has their own opinion about everything. i like the darker side of everyting but their are just certain people i dont think fit the dark side, and lionel is one of those people that just dont fit the dark side verry well. clark on the other hand, i loved it when he was being bad.

I prefered the good side of Lionel and the whole kryptonian possession/oracle Lionel

I actually really enjoyed Lionel when he played with other people's head. It was funny to see his opponents completely helpless in any arguments against him. I really hope he has not turned into a man with "Puppies and hugs" (to quote Lex). John Glover is just too good at being the bad guy.

I think Lionel's love for Martha has really turned him good. Well, as good as Lionel can be.
My sis pointed out that during his scene with Lex... there was a complete roll reversal. Lex had Lionel's usual role and Lionel had Lex's usual role. Very interesting. :)

I don't think he is bad.
He loves Martha and will do anything to get her, including bad stuff.
Does that make him bad? No , just 14.

Very true. I was totally thinking that as well. LIONEL is now the one saying, "What do I have to do to convince you I want to be in your life," and Lex is the one with the cold heart using his father for his own dark purposes. Before, Lex would've been the one practically begging for Lionel's approval, and Lionel would've been the one telling him, "You've spent so much time trying to convince the Kents that you're a good man that you're actually starting to believe it yourself." Lex was totally taking advantage of Lionel's "goodness" in this episode, because Lex clearly sees it as a weakness. Evil Lex is creeping back in! YAY! I was getting tired of all the Lexana romance stuff. Glad to see the evil has returned.

I am still on the fence, personally- bewarn of awkward phrasing-
I think that Lionell may be playing Lex playing Lionel.
To put that more precisely, Lionell is trying to act like he is on his son's "side". In order to keep a close watch on him and the technological artifact.
