Lois never fancied the flash..! She wasn't even around then!

Lois kicked ass in this episode! lol. Nice to see that she actually foreshadows the Lois Lane we all know shes going to be.

She was alright. I still can't really buy that she's all into reporting now... so much that she'll pass up a date with the very sexy Oliver? I'm just not buying it, it's going too fast for me...
And I don't really like how characters keep hinting at Clark and Lois having "feelings" for each other... it's all very out of the blue. This whole season is. The writers are putting more weight on words and dialogue than actions...

I can't buy it either. It was all very stale. It seems all the Lois character is good for is sexy outfits and a clever line or two. There's no character developement there.

I agree. All I can say is Green Arrow stole from the wrong lady(Martha). If he would've chosen someone else, I wonder if Lois would've been that obssesive?
It was great seeing her kickbutt again. I've missed that.

The only thing I didn't buy was when those two guys arrived at the apartment and she fought a bit and then she went to call Chloe. I mean the past episodes she kicked major butt and it was like all the training she had went out the window in that one scene. But she put up a good struggle. I did like the tomb raider reference. :D

Interesting enough Ollie said that line and then close to the end Clark calls him Temp Lois's new boyfriend and Ollie calls Clark Temp Lois's best friend and Clark encourage Ollie to tell her so their relationship should be honest so what kind of triangle is this one

Yeah, Lois was really great in this episode. I was worried that they'd concentrate on her romance with Oliver and ignore her growing interest in journalism, but instead they concentrated on the whole journalism aspect of the thing. Very cool.

I like Lois with Ollie, but I am not diggin the whole journalistic fever she caught. How is she able to get headlines when she had obvious "typos" in her first one. I think they should of had her interest in the get go rather than springing it up in one episode.

Lois is great! But they need to find more ways to get her in scenes wearing bikinis.

I think Lois was a lot of fun in this episode. Her lines were great, her relationship with Ollie is lots of fun. Her fighting with G.A. is humorous, and how she was so into helping Martha get back her necklace.

I was very happy with Lois' portrayal tonight, it definatly seemed much more like the Lois Lane we know and love. I loved her interaction with Oliver and I have to admire her dedication to unveilling him, it defiantly forshadows her future at the Daily Planet. This is the Lois we've been waiting 2 seasons to see and in the end I have to say I think she delivers.

Exactly, she's a horribly written character!!

Overbearing makes me feel like "FINALLY, LOIS IS BACK!" I've always felt that only Superman could handle the Lois for that very reason.

All I can say is it is nice this season so far to see more of Lois, and it isnt all Chloe or Lana for a change. I like how this episode focused mainly on her and I loved the scene with her Clark and Oliver at the begining when they each say "feelings?"...so great...Love the Clois.

Me don't care about the Hott. It's all about the irratating. I love the irratating.
Doctor House for President and Lois Lane as his Vice President. They'll make this world a better place, crushing one idiot at a time!
thehenry89

lois is only irrating on the show because she's a reporter she asks the embarrasing questions she points out the elephants in the room. of course people find it anoying when their flaws are laid out for the whole world to see why do you think so many reporters get threatened.

I'm sad I missed the first half (bloody work!) but I adore how much she fought the two goons who took her. I mean, even though she didn't know who GA was, and even though she would have done better to hold her breath in the water, it all was very Lois to me. She just wouldn't shut up and wouldn't stop until she passed out, even daring to reach out and grab the GA's mask at the end... she's got guts, and I love her for it!

I think think Erica does a great job playing Lois. I felt Like she was Lois since the first time I saw her when she was driving and saying "K-E-N-T, Kent, do they even have addresses here." I like the overbearing attitude and the in your face attitude. I think she is alot like the one from the animated series and the comics. I thought TH from LnC was ok as Lois but I I thought she was a little lowkey and whiny sometimes, not TH but her Lois. I thought KB was a little to lowkey too, but I got over that becuase It had been 5 years since Superman had been there she mellowed a little and grew up from having Jason.
I don't know how you can say she hasn't had any expression towards the character. I have always thought she acted it great. I always thought she got Lois's attitude down and her quick wit and sarcasm and had good comic timing.
Other than that you can't blame her for the way they stunted her development for awhile. And now that they are actually moving her forward and showing her starting to be interested in Journalism people get all over that too. It's like they can't win. People say have Journalism, they do it and then everybody complains. It's not like they have even gone that far with it she is just starting. How would they have had her slighlty develop interest in a number of episodes. It would have taken forevr and then they wouldn't have been able to do the story they did. She wouldn't have been investigating him and there wouldn't have been a reason for all of that stuff to happen to her. I wasn't too hot on the way it happened in Sneeze with the barn door after everything thats happened, but it was kind of funny and it gave her something to take notice of and spark and interest. With all that past us now and now that she is already interested and working there and she is taking on a story that she is involved in and is interested to find out who he is and what's going I like that.
Now that she is interested in Journalism let's try and enjoy it.

there are three reasons how one can't agree with the lois character being severely weak: naivety, blindness or ignorance.

I do like how 'they' have made her slightly less a jerkette this season than in the past. She is still more than annoying and retains her status as a true dullard, both unchanged from her previous years.
When she opens her mouth, publicly or privately, she goes down in quality. Possibly they should Superglue her mouth shut, then she would be less irritating. She would still be a dullard, however.
And Chloe coins the correct description for Clark (Man of steel) and Ollie (the Green Arrow minus lois' 'bandit'). Chloe is clearly the sharper mind between these two.
Ireallylikethisshow

People, being a little nicer to the actress herself. It's rather hurtful to insult her acting 'cause she really is a human being out there. And she's an actress, acting's probably a big deal to her.
Lois is suposed to be a little irritating, but in a humorous sense. She's suposed to be overbearing, and to be very worked up over her job. It's part of the character, and that's fine. You don't have to like everyone, we all have our own opinions right?
SteveS
10-19-2006, 09:12 PM
lois' interest in journalism is not believable nor is her fighting ability. Her general rudeness is real but she is improved over last year.
And Clark has no 'feelings' for her.

I think her being irritating stands on bad timing of the writing, and the character seems too forced this ep. I would like to see her more confident in a serene way and less contrived.
Polomontana
10-19-2006, 09:17 PM
It was very forced in this episode. The chemistry between her, Clark and Hartley was horrid. She acted each scene the same way.

Her character is really starting to be annoying for me to watch. She has been too overbearing and cocky. And even with her own cousin, especially with her own cousin. Further, she doesn't seem too bright, not as she should be. She hasn't ever seemed to me to be very ambitious and intelligent. Now all of a sudden she is supposedly in the 'biz' without any training or education in said field and with very little previous interest. Laughable, really. She needs to get her a** to the nearest university to begin her formal education and training. At this rate, she will be senile before she gets to her true Lois Lane position in the future at the Daily Planet.
And while she is a gorgeous person, she is not at all believable as a late teen/early twenty-something, which is irritating to watch as well. It brings down the credibility factor sometimes.

QFT and I have to agree with you on this one fully. That I will admit that Lois is by far the best character on the show. The hottest the coolest chick, next to chloeavage=ratings. I like how when she was getting beat up she was still spitting in the guys face. If that was anyone else. Especially lana, she would have just got slapped once and been knocked out for a good 3 days. LOIS LANE KICKED AS*!! She was amazing on this episode. I was afraid that they were gonna focus on her romance with Oliver but the episode was grat. They focused on her journalism path and on the GA story. I'm glad we are starting to see her passion for journalism and for uncovering the truth... :)
She has great chemistry with Oliver and their scenes are very well played. No angst, no drama, just flirting and having fun.

Actor/Actress bashing is also against board rules, so I agree, people should be nicer.
There are people out there that will never like Lois Lane ANY Lois Lane, there are people out there that will never like SV's Lois Lane and there are people out there that will never like Erica Durance. People are entitled to their opinion. That's just the way the cookie crumbles, but that's no reason to bash anybody.
I just ignore comments that I don't like. It's better for my complexion :) Which is looking pretty good lately if I don't say so myself.
Personally I ADORE both Erica Durance and Lois Lane, except TH's Lois. I know a great many members on these boards love Hatcher as Lois but she never grew on me. (Except during Lexis scenes) I didn't hate her though. I don't hate ANYONE on this show this season. I did hate Clark pretty bad for awhile but he is ever so slowly starting to improve. Even Lana seems better in the new role they've given her.
She was awesome in this episode, and I LOVE the Lollie relationship. In my opinion it's the best one they've ever had on this show and I enjoyed both characters very much and felt they were much like their comic book counterparts in both attitude and personality. Some of the Lollie moments were reminiscent of GA's relationship with BC, except I think I like Lollie more.
My older niece liked it so much she was sad that Lois had to end up with Clark. I wouldn't go that far but it was highly enjoyable and the episode as a whole was the best I've seen in a very long time.

I think that most Superman fans love Lois Lane, the Lois Lane of the future anyway, as for the Lois Lane of Smallville, most feel that she doesn't belong on Smallville, not at this stage anyway, her character is poorly developed and it's annoying!
As for the actress, I don't think the actress is hated or disliked, I do however feel, and I may not be the only one, that she is simply too old to play the young Lois Lane and it shows, no matter how good looking she is or pretty, it shows!
Personally I ADORE both Erica Durance and Lois Lane, except TH's Lois. I know a great many members on these boards love Hatcher as Lois but she never grew on me. (Except during Lexis scenes) I didn't hate her though.
I disagree, out of all Lois Lanes´s thus far, including the one in 'Superman Returns', Tery Hatcher played the best Lois Lane, no one could have done it or ever will as good as she!
My older niece liked it so much she was sad that Lois had to end up with Clark. I wouldn't go that far but it was highly enjoyable and the episode as a whole was the best I've seen in a very long time.
They will and should end up together, cos after all some things in the canon should be cosidered sacred, and Superman/Clark and Lois love is one of those things! That being said, under no circumstance, should they end up together during Smallville timeline, not even season 7 or any season for that matter! Clois should not be seen on Smallville!

Again, Lois lies in her headline, ugh. I cannot respect her as a journalist. Not to mention how her working for a rag can reflect on her candidate (even if Martha's okay with it, her political adversaries could still use it against her).
Lois was all brave and action-oriented and I like her going after GA at the party.
I like the Lollie, too.
Kal-ed
10-21-2006, 03:08 PM
When has SV respected canon??? We are long past that argument, there are 4 constants in any superman incarnation:
Clark is from krypton and adopted by the kents.
Clark becomes superman
Clark and Lex are enemies
Clark and Lois are soulmates
The rest they can switch and throw, how Clark becomes superman, why Lex and Clark become enemies, when and how Lois and Clark hook up, those things can be changed its the how and the why that can change in an AU not the what, and I already stated the 4 Whats of Superman.
Lois' budding journalism bug imo stems from her wanting to make a difference and seeing how journalism is the best method for her to make an impact. She always has been strong headed and watching her turn to journalism is no surprise. Her character would become obsessed about it and I like how they portrayed it and not make her some bimbo who would run off with Ollie to get some sun.
Lois is one of those people who observes but doesn't get involved most of the time. Like, how she sees Lana and Lex's relationship but she doesn't say anything to Clark or anyone else. I like how they've developed her character.
As for her and Clark's chemistry, it feels like forshadowing how their relationship will be until she finds out he's Superman. Despite the fact they bite each other's heads off, they do care for one another, as shown at the end of 'Zod' when they held hands. There was the episode she went to talk to Clark about letting go of Lana and it seemed she understood Clark more then he knew. It is this other side of her that comes up every so often thatgives their relationship some chemistry.
Besides, only someone as dense as Clark could fall in love with her long term haha.

Actually Erica is a year younger than Tom. She is older than Kate Bosworth who is only 22 or something which to me was ridiculous for someone playing the role.

I think Erica proved that when you give her a good script she can do wonders. I mean, compare this to the last weeks crap “Whither” (tries hard to forget Clark/Gloria flirting and Super Chloe)!!
- Lois is simply Lois Lane!!! And I loved Ollie’s remark about Tomb raider and pissing off daddy. I think a part of Lois wants to show the General she can do a lot without his support.
- When Ollie couldn’t keep her from dropping the article, he tries to seduce her and how beautifully she dismisses him, God, Lois doesn’t get impressed does she? A handsome billionaire down on his knees begging for her company, but the girl would do what she wants to do!! That’s my Lois Lane.
- Clark/Lois had one scene with so much lesser dialogues but so much more expressions. The writers developed their relationship by taking a step forward from the bickering teenagers. Clark actually felt hurt for a moment and Lois trying hard not to let Ollie spill what she told him, Terrific!
- And with her first serious article! She gets into trouble, the iconic Lois’s knack for getting herself into trouble! Amazing! Though Chloe’s line “She’s in trouble” was so flat! I was like, hey, it is your cousin, remember, show more expressions!!! And Clark develops some extra superspeed when it comes to saving Lois, doesn’t he?
- Lois is a not liar, we only saw the headline so we don’t really know what was written in it, it was only her line “I stretched a little” which is being stretched to call her Liar, but I guess she is more like Ollie right now, use whatever means to get the end, but soon she’ll understand the discipline and responsibility of being a reporter when she comes to DP etc. So no problem, she has flaws but flaws make her real and they make her progress.
All in all, I am falling in love with Lois more and more, and the direction writers are taking with her is slowly becoming terrific. Clark/Lois/Ollie interactions were amazing in the beginning scene.
On side note, Clark was surprised by Chloe’s attitude towards Lois, he says something like “Yeah right” Even he wasn’t expecting Chloe to be jealous and all! Or is is that even writers are bored of super Chloe and trying to make her believable!

You know... when I really like something I don't have much to say. I mean unless I have a revelation or notice some exciting detail... but when somethings really really good... I just want to watch it. There's really nothing to say.
Lois was great in this episode. Erica Durance is a great Lois. (Goes to watch Arrow over and over and over and over and...) LOL!

I know how you feel:D I was a bit depressed with Sneeze and Whither, Arrow brought my interest back in Smallville.

Agree with everything!!:D
She was fantastic in this ep, wasn't she??? I saw the real Lois Lane right there. It was great to watch & incredibly entertaining. I could have done without Annoying!Chloe, but other than that it was fantastic.
This episode more than made up for "Sneeze" and "Wither". This show definitely needs more Lois.

Ah, truer words have never been written about lois, she really is basically a know-nothing but isn't even aware of it, that is true ignorance.
A brain is a terrible thing to waste.

Yes, more Lois please. I enjoyed Arrow a lot, mostly because of her. I loved watching her pursue a story like a one-woman army waging war. She never gives up, and if goons try to stop her, she's not going down without a fight. Now, that's classic Lois Lane. :D

Yup, that's true. She was also the best parts of "Whither" -- that episode was unwatchable unless she was onscreen.
I have to say that I hated the "barn door epiphany" in "Sneeze" but they handled the journalism arc a bit better in "Arrow". I liked that she named him. I also liked that she has a specific idea of vigilante justice & she wouldn't condone it. This has shades of DDLois & how she reacted to Bruce Wayne being Batman. It was also a nice parallel to Clark, ho was having almost identical conversations with Oliver. I liked that.

A lot of people feel that way about Wither, even NON Lois, Oliver and Lollie fans thought that was the only good part about the episode.
Lollie has a nice effect on people (of all KINDS of fandoms too I‘ve noticed, even some Theorists and Cloisers, which I NEVER expected! I‘m pleasantly surprised), especially me. Arrow was actually really good though, even the parts that were not Green Arrow or Lollie though they were my favorite parts. (I've watched all their scenes together so much I think the images have been burned into the TV screen) lol
I loved that she named him too. The original (and here I mean 1938 original) Lois didn't name Superman, the public did if I remember correctly and she went along with it. I felt this was along those lines. She added "Bandit" to the name because she saw him as a bandit. Had she viewed him as a hero right away then I imagine it would have been just Green Arrow, but when everyone went with just Green Arrow (even ALL the other newspapers!) based off Lois’ article she too went along with it. I did love that it was Lois that named him and she came up with it on a dime too! Go Lois! :D
I don’t know how I feel about the Margot Kidder hairstyle (from the first Superman movie) that Erica was sporting in the first act though, but she didn’t look bad in it all.
Loved the last Lollie scene where Oliver was all proud of his lady while reading her article, and she wasn't exactly fond of Arrow in it either. What a man huh? *sigh* Too bad there aren't too many of those chivalrous gentlemen around, though I happened to have been lucky enough to snag one. :)

Well, I'm sure he feels just as lucky to have you, if not more. Chivalrous men usually have to have the love of their life in their midst.

There are also a fair share of real Ladies on K-Site. I happen to be one of them, and I thoroughly enjoyed Lois, Oliver, Clark, Green Arrow and the entire episode.
I doubt I would have liked it as much had Lois not been in it. I'm very impressed with the writers for this episode. If the rest of the season is written this way I might actually come to really like Smallville.
