View Full Version : Why is Lois So EASY? She was ready to get with him because he hit a can?

Who are the writers writing for, Mae West? The Lois character is so 1 dimensional. She messes with every Playboy that comes to town or she's in the shower, stripping or jogging with everything bouncing!! Will the writers please add some dimension to the character!! We get it, Erica Durance is sexy, now can we move on please!! I knew Lois was gonna show up to the costume party in something low cut. I'm sure the producers spent a day trying to figure out how low the censors would allow them to go. The character Lois Lane hasn't had hardly any character developement.

She's eye candy to make up for the lack of writing talent IE: Lana again all eye candy poorly written character

I agree with you but Lois Lane and Clark Kent go together like Cornflakes and milk. You have to develope one to compliment the other. They can do it halfway with Lana Lang but not Lois. This is why I say in the Smallville universe Chlois should be the end result. The character Lois Lane on Smallville is a slap in the face to everyone who has enjoyed the comics and films throughout the years. Lois is just a sexpot in Smallville. Lets add some dimension writers!!

The Lois of Smallville is too old for Clark. She looks in her 40s. She also looks fake!

I agree that I'm tired of seeing Lois in a bikini (or bikini like outfit) every other episode. But, I love Lois. I think she's witty, fun, and I definitely see her growing up to be the adult Lois Lane. I don't mind her being sexy; they are over-the-top at times, but her costume in Wither was beautiful. Complain about her bikini in Aqua.
Lois has always been the type of girl you either love or hate. She's not always nice, gets in your face, and can be too honest. Just because you don't like that doesn't mean she's not the real and three-dimensional. Well, as three-dimensional as anyone else on the show.

I seriously doubt Lois thought that Oliver had a penguins chance in hell of hitting that can. She's not that easy. She's attracted to him yes, but come on, she's not easy. She wasn't even going to go to the ball with him.

You need glasses. She looks amazing. 40's? That's definitely exaggerating to the fullest. She is supposed to look (according to Al Gough) "a few years older than Clark". She fits that requirement perfectly. Looks real enough to me. I like a women with curves. Smokin! Is being sexy a crime?
Lois also wasn't that easy. She didn't just jump his bones like she did Aquadude. GA had to work for it. He didn't actually hit the can itsself but what he did do was even more impressive.
I can't stand this GA crap but even I thougth that was cool.

Lois is not a wimp who is afraid to make a decision about a guy. I think she knows she really likes Oliver and has already made up her mind that she's going to get with him at some point. Oliver is also completely confident that he and Lois are going to get together eventually, and he knew it would mean more if the first time wasn't because of a stupid bow and arrow stunt. So he missed the can deliberately. Lois might well have set the whole thing up as a test for him, to see what he would do. They're both playing a little game.

Yea, it's called a wager. They do it all the time in romantic comedies! Heck, any Adam Sandler fan would remember that scene in Happy Gilmore with the hokey puck bet. Infact, it was almost the exact same situation!

Exactly! Finally someone who gets it.;)
It all about cat and mouse. Also I agree that GA does want it to mean more than if it was just from hitting a can.
Lois testing him and him testing Lois. Could be better TV than I first thought. We still have to get Clark into this game though to make it more interesting. If they are going to do a triangle and promote it as such then they need to do it right. I hate lopsided triangles.:p

Lois easy? No way! What is this a "Lets get together and think of some ways to bash on Lois" kind of thing. And you pick this way by saying she's so easy. She didn't even kiss him! And she didn't even know he was a pro arrow kind of guy. Lois didn't jump at him and started making out after saying taking it slow unlike someone. Talk about being easy.

Yeah we know who was slapping skins in this episode.
Lex likes it mid-evil style that's the real reasoning behind his costume choice.

That's an excellent point. (Don't you just love it that Chloe can get away with anything, but poor Lois can't even say one thing without getting bashed?)
She wasn't easy at all. She repeatedly didn' t let him kiss her. The scene totally played like a nice romantic comedy. I thought it was sweet, cute and playful. She was the only female on the show that didn't get some in the episode -- and it wasn't for lack of trying on Oliver's part, either.
Oliver: I have enjoyed courting you against your will this evening.
Lois: Only because I let you.
[he tries to kiss her and she leans way back to stop him.]
Oliver: I want to kiss you now.
Lois: Ah, you know?
[She moves away, stepping out of his arms.]
The lady requires a show of skill before rewarding you with her favor.
Oliver: Which is actually where I was going with the kiss.
[tries to kiss her again & she puts her finger on his lips to stop him.]
Lois: Let's make it interesting. Hit that can with your arrow [indicates towards can on a garbage bin in the alley] and I'm yours.
Oliver: Your're that easy, huh?
Lois: It's that hard.
[Oliver looks at the can for a second and then glances at Lois.]
Oliver: I'm gonna go for it.
[Oliver takes the quiver and loads it with an arrow. He looks at Lois, who's watching him.]
Oliver: Here's goes nothing.
[He shoots the arrow and it looks like he missed it. Lois shakes her head.]
Lois: Better luck next time, Hood.
[Lois goes into her apartment and Oliver stands there smiling slightly, in thought. The scene zeroes in on the arrow, and it shows that he hit it right through the tab of the can.]
How on earth does that scene make her look easy? It was a great scene -- she was witty and cute. He was charming and showing her that he wanted her. She held him off, while at the same time not insulting or offending him. The scene was, imo, one of the best "romantic" SV has had in a long time. The way it was shot, the acting, the dialogue, the chemistry between the actors, and the song playing the background -- I'm a die-hard Cloiser & I even I couldn't help but smile at the way their date ended.

i dont think lois was being easy with green arrow...if anything she was playing hard to get...i thought the shooting can scene was adorable...one of the best parts of the episode. i think they make are gonna cute couple. but ill agree lois is pretty much a one dimensional character on the show, theres been very little development on her part and shes had very few scenes with clark so far this season...interesting...but was it just me or were lois' lines more chloe like in this episode she had a lot of witty phrases and funny analogies going on i dont kno she was talking different it was weird....anyways...go lollie!!haha

You guys are overracting towards the scene itself, IMO.
Just as "eas" said, it was for more romantic comedy. She wasn't just going to go and have sex with him just because he hit a can. The producers are going to be a little realistic.
But as far as all the stripping and other things go, you have a point.

about that costume, my sister, who is 11 years old, was watching it with me and she was the first one to say "i think they want us to know how big lois' boobs are.' come on!
but i wouldnt consider her EASY. she pushed oliver away many times (although if that were me, .... yeah back to topic. :D) we all know they're gonna go out, they just made it seem like lois didn't want to speed up too much!

She not easy, I agree with eas. If he hit the can he was going to get a kiss, another date at the most.
The fact that she thought he didn't have a chance of hitting the can makes her not easy. It was a different way to tell him 'not right now'. If she was so easy she would have kissed him when he went to kiss her and then took it up to her apartment.
That scene proved how much Lois is not easy.

Lois figures, Oliver knows, how hot he is, they make her kind of a tease when it comes to men I've noticed, so she plays a little game with him. I do find it really dumb that they insist on giving Lois more cleavage in every show, and this year she is blonder than last year. I'd think the actor is physically wrong way over the top for being taken seriously as Lois Lane, they make her like a Play Boy Bunny. If they didn't exaggerate her breasts and bleach her hair so much mabey she'd be more believable in the part. Even when she acts more like Lois Lane, all you see is this outside shell that gives another message. Lois Lane doesn't need this sex kitten image, she' suppose to be deeper than their making her appear.

Lois is the least easy. I don't even think that Lana was easy because she spent a long time making the decision to sleep with Lex, but because she did go through with it, I'll call her the most easy.

I don't understand the outright negative hatred for Erica and her Lois character around here. It makes it very unpleasant for me to post around here cause I think she looks just fine the way she is and that she is doing a great job with Lois given the very little material she has to work with. I see no reason why Lois can't be sexy with some curves, because that's exactly how Lois looks in the comics. Try picking up a recent issue and you'll see exactly what I mean.
Also I'm just not seeing all the blond some of you are. Basically just some highlights is all I see. It's pretty dark as far as blond goes. Chloe is blond and Lois is no where near that light in color. I think it looks the same way it did last season. Not much change at all. They also show off a massive amount of Chloe's cleavage on a regular basis now, nearly everytime they have a Daily Planet scene, and no one rakes her over the coals like they do Lois.
I'm getting so sick of the negative anti-Lois attitude around here.
If this keeps up I probably will look elsewhere to post. I'm just getting tired of all the actor/character bashing, negativity, and complete lack of respect for others feelings or views.

i don't think she was being easy. I mean come on is it so bad to have feelings towards people. People date. usually several people. And when you first start a relationship and you are attracted to someone you feel those happy kinda feelings at first and it feels good to kiss and stuff. If she isn't going and sleeping around with a bunch of guys I don't see the big deal with the whole wanting to kiss a new boyfriend. When you are first with somebody if you are just with them and it's innocent whats the big deal with kissing. Making out and stuff doesn't make you easy or slutty. It means your attracted to you boyfriend or girlfriend and want to feel good. Sleeping around makes you easy or making out with several people while your suppose to be with just one. But if your with one person and only kissing them it's somethimg everybody does and it's not a bad thing.
For some reason when people see her about to kiss GA now and kiss Aquaman a fracking year ago somehow that makes her easy. You have to be kidding me. It's funny how some people could have several relationships throughout there time of being like 15-25 and them be monogamous and innocent but they see someone date 2 people in the course of two years and just because they kiss a little somehow it's not right. I'm sorry but I think some people are just little stuck up and need to get over it. These reltionships aren't suppose to be something we think are wrong or something we are suppose to just watch the interactions nd enjoy it. People date it's part of life. It's understandle these people would be attracted to each other. We see romance on tv all the time. The reason is it's part of life. But what I'm liking with this right now at the moment and at least in this episode they are happy for once. Usually everybody is miserable. Thats life sometimes but that doesn't show the normal people or the parts of relationships were people are hapy for awhile. Usually people are happy for awhile and then either stay together, or split up peacefully or something happens and they don't get along anymore and decide to breakup. But usually people are happy for atleast awhile. There are alot of times on tv that people are miserable or angsty or tings don't ever work out. Look at s1-5 and Buffy and Angel and others just for some examples. I am just gld to see them happy for a little while. It might not last and I hope they Lollie and Chlimmy breakup amicably. But it was nice to see them happy now. And I definately don't think Lois was being easy at all.

Agreed. But you must know that no episode discussion is complete without outrightly discarding all Lois scenes as bad writing. If she dismisses someone, she is rude, if she flirts with the guy she is easy. If she looks beautiful, she is nothing more than eye candy.
If Chloe had appeared in this scene, it would've been perfect, if Lois did, it is pathetic.
You must have noticed that Chloe fans are gradually losing all sense of praising good moments in the show only because they want to bash Lois. Because if they praise Lois, oh God, it will be like, they are accepting her as Lois!
And no such thread is complete without the mention of Chloe is Lois. You start a thread to discuss Lois and ultimately take it to Chloe's path.
Honestly, I haven't seen one good comment about Erica put by an Allison fan on this board, eversince season 6 has begun.

Clois or Lois fans are fine with everything on the show. We have been watching since S1, when there was no sign of Lois. She was only brought in S4, before that we still loved SV as much as we do today.
I think the problem with Chloe fans is that they don't want to accept Lois's presence on the show because it crushed their "Chloe is Lois" fantasy and now they cannot compliment her even when they know she deserves it.
Lois fans, on the other hand, have no such problems, so we praise Chloe whenever she deserves it.
Many Lois fans absolutely love Chloe, but very, very few Chloe fans like Lois, I think your Chlois fantasy is hindering your becoming a loyal fan of the show and liking things that are likeable. Once you accept Chloe as Chloe, you will give her the respect she deserves and Lois will become likeable to you.

Again, allow me to remind you that you are generalizing...
Not all Chlarkers are Chloisers.
As far as I am concerned, Chloe is NOT the real Lois Lane, and will most likely never be. Whoever thinks differently is of course free to do so. Furthermore, most Chlarkers, as my humble self, don't hate Lois at all. We merely complain from time to time about how her character is handled by TPTB. The dramatic lack of character development in S4 and S5, for instance. This has changed now, and I personally am very happy about it. In the first three episodes of S6, Lois has made more sense to me than in all the episodes until then, taken together. So, we might be more un-biased than you think...

Lois was not easy. She challenged him because she was absolutelly sure he wouldn't be able to do it. The audience knows he is Green Arrow, Lois doesn't. The worst that could happen was her kissing him because he hit the can. It was very clear from the dialog: he asked for a kiss, she answers she requires a show of skill before doing it. If he hit the can, he would get his kiss. End of the story. According to Oliver Queen himself, he courted her "against her will" the whole evening. What's the big deal with a kiss? No one is saying Chloe is easy because she kissed Jimmy. Why can't people be more reasonable about this?

Sounds like pointless bashing Lois just to be bashing. There wasn't easy about Lois in that scene. She didn't even want to kiss him on their "forced" date but found a way around it so that she wouldn't offend him since she really does have feelings for him but wasn't willing to just give it up like that on a "forced" date. Man's got to know she's in charge!
Lois likely didn't even think he'd be able to even hit the garbage can with the arrow much less hit the can, lol. Who the hell walks around with a real bow and arrow that can could peeps as part of their costume anyways? Oliver was very classy about it too since he missed on purpose so that he wouldn't have to "force" her to kiss him.
I ussually hate Lois, but there just wasn't anything bash worthy about her in this epy.

I don't believe Lois was easy in that scene. I actually enjoyed her interaction with Oliver. I just don't like them making her dress the way she does, and come off as a bimbo. Now their making Lana move in with Lex which is much worse in my opinion.
If she's afraid of loosing her identity this will do it. Chloe is still the classiest girl on the show. Clark has ignored her all this time, and its no wonder she's moving ahead with Jimmy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
3 years, 4 dates.
Hardly the sign of a tramp.
(And if I wanted to I might bring up the fact that Chloe - the character in your avatar - slept with Jimmy her freshman year with only lukewarm feelings for him...)

If anyone was easy in this ep., it was Lex!
When they came home, it looked like he was just looking forward to a quiet evening (likely reading about Napoleon's disastrous invasion of Russia, as a Luthor would do), when Lana gave him the green light and Lex thinks to himself: yeah, well, okay, I could use some help getting out of my costume. Lex, you jezebel.
Lois was fine in this ep. - they could have given her a better costume though -- bu she outshone Ollie, IMHO. (Ollie better step up to the plate soon and prove he's in the same league as Lex and Clark, too.)

Lois was rasied by an authoritarian general and with facts about her sister , I assume it was a dysfunctional relationship.
No wonder she is easily smitten and picks out of the box men who wear tights/swim with fishes/are from krypton/play with arrows.
