I only say this cause he was such a tool this episode. After escaping the PZ and defeating Zod by using his brain you'd think that this would establish a pattern for future episodes. WRONG!
After finding out that the alien being was from the PZ he tried to reason with it and wanted it to adapt to living on earth. HELLO EARTH TO CLARK it was a prisoner locked away by your father, it can't be reasoned with.
Then he gets his butt handed to him cause Clark must've forgot he had super-powers. He just stood there and let the creature get the jump on him and almost died in the process. Later the same thing happens. He tries to reason with it again and gets knocked around. Serously will he ever learn?

He should get a clue, he has yet to meet a friendly alien, as far as he knows Kayla betrayed him in the Zone.
She knows he can get hurt by her, yet he does nothing.

Don't you guys get it? Chloe is his brain!
Clark is inconsistent in the thinking department. Future Superman decisions sometimes...Future Superdummy decisions most times.

Yes but should'nt his Superman thinking be more the norm. I mean its going on 6 years now. With all the experience Clark has had with dealing with the FOTW, he should have atleast half a leg up on these guys.

all he ever does is punch pepole or fight them , chlie is the one , who finds out , what where who about the freaks. and he loses for good portions of the fights anyways than always wins by some stupid ending just cause clark has to win.

In some of the DVD comments from previous seasons it's said (I think by either AM or KK) that Tom is known to wander around the set proclaiming, "Clark is such an idiot!!!"
Even HE knows it....

That quote is taking out of context. He was referring to the situation when the girl is in lust with him and Clark doesn't act on it. Thats why Welling referrs to Clark as the DA, cause any other guy would act on it.

yea that was from spirit commentary I think, wit all the girls...But yea at times he's smart and makin a quick decision others he's helpless. That's why I laughed in mortal when chloe says so basically ur tellin me without ur powers ur worthless, cause I thought well wit them he's not too far off  .But I dont fault clark for tryin to talk to gloria,he does that to everyone tries givin them a choice, which is why he told her she can adapt another way like he did.So I don't fault him in this episode but there r times I agree wit everyone else tho

Maybe he doesn't want to kill anything unless he doesn't have a choice. So that gets him in trouble because he gives them too many chances. Thats the only explanation I can think of.

You know one of Superman's great powers is very high intellectual abilities......
Clark is the exact opposite of that....

Clark apparently cannot think for himself in this show. I'm amazed he can walk and brood at the same time. It's like he cannot even form any ideas on his own with Chloe. I am so tired of seeing Chloe and Clark investigate. Or Chloe hacking into Lionel or Lex Luthor's computers or Chloe having contacts at Interpol (exposed). There is only so many times you can ask the audience to suspend there belief of what is real or possible.

do anyone remember the good old days (1st season) when he used to be smart... he loses brain cells every season... I blame the FOTW's, Lana, Green K, Red K drug and the Kryptonain bad guys

They made Clark an idoit pansy boy so that when Smallville gets canceled they start a spin off series All. About. Chloe.
I like Chloe, but come on! He's Superman for gods sakes! Give him some dignity! The one time he was able to think for himself in this ep he ran over the Lex's and went and got his butt thrown out for his insane accusations. For the love of all that is good and holy, did you see Clark's reactions over finding SEEDS in Lex's GREENHOUSE? Seeds in a greenhouse? No way! I usually keep them in my sock drawer! How dare he have seeds in the greenhouse, not to mention the fact that the seeds were on a pod that Clark rudely picked off of the flower. Tact. Clark. Tact.
