I just feel like the scene of Lois showing Chloe the barn door should have been cut. It would have made a good deleted scene on the DVD. What do you guys think?

I think so too. I think Chloe could have explained the "whatchamacalit" when Lois visited the DP.

I agree, it would of made a terrific deleted scene.

true but I think it was meant to be funny, more humor in the show.Espcially wit the door fallen over when chloe touched it,plus it was to show how crazy lois was in chasin the story. That's why I thought they kept it,but ya'll r right it would have been good as a deleted scene tho

Well, couldn't her craziness be shown in the subsequent Daily Planet scene?

It was an important scene.
Lois needed the event to spur her on to write the article, thus beginning her journey to becoming the "Top Reporter" she will someday become.
Plus it setup the kite scene at the end.

It did seem a bit superfluous. But I liked it and they couldn't cut it b/c Chloe said she'd handle Lois so... it would be a kind of loose end... I guess...

I don't think the scene was particularly out of place, but as for the lighting...I think they showed just a bit too much sun for too long of time. Was it just me? I couldn't see anything but yellow for a while.

It was pointless. It was just another "comedic" scene that sucked. I can understand having 1 or 2 quick scenes of comedy (like in Heat with Clark and the scarecrow). But this was too much. We barely saw anything of the villians after all the time they wasted on what they thought was comedy. That scene in Heat wasn't done as intentionally as the scenes in this. It had a point to it. This episode had too many lingering scenes that dragged too long (I was rolling my eyes constantly).
If they want to make a good episode, they should stick to the formula that worked. Increase the drama, increase the action even more (include a lot of mythos rich plots with mystical themes like the caves), and start introducing some comic book items only relating to Clark and Superman (forget the JLA or anything else that will take away time from Clark reaching the end of his journey or with characters that will make him look bad). Do that while having good continuity, minimal explicit scenes, and writing that makes sense, and I assure TPTB that the viewership can increase if it's not too late.

No, I think it set Lois up to do a story on it and it was necessary to show her investigative traits. Take care.

I was just going to say..that lighting was forever! It was so irritating!

It was quite an important scene (but didn't feel like it, true) as it showed how Chloe keeps people off Clark's back (as she said to him:...I will take care of Lois). And it sparked Lois' curiosity/journalsim, that's true.
The way they shot it was strange, though. Against the sun!!! I saw nothing, but maybe my VCR is crapping out.

Lois' sudden interest in a professsion she formerly considered so pointless and boring she would rahter be dead than be a reporter, can't be set up in any believable way at this point. Even CHloe's expostioion was not good enough. Any scene in which "Lois" appears is superfluous and should be cut. She's just awful.

How is Lois´s interest for journalism be discussed in this thread??? And as much as I respect peoples opinions, I do not when the opinions are biased, unfounded and hateful. Character bashing, last time I cheked was not allowed.
I think the scene was ok, but about the Deleted Scenes issue, are they suposed to leave out important scenes so we have better deleted scenes???

It happened so suddenly. I guess we shouldn't be surprised. The writers are not exactly known for their subtle, intelligent, well planned storylines.

Oh come Kal-ed. Most of the Chlarkers don't bash Lois. There are only a few stragglers who pummel her. There's always going to be someone who bashes on someone's favorite character. It happens to me too.

I think that SOME Chlarkers bash but I would never generalize, I have "met" very nice and polite chlarkers, I wish I could remember all their nicknames, but theres this two that come to mind (girls I think) RobynAdele and Chlarkfan333, Kat Halliwell (sorry if I misspelled any of the nicks) they are both very nice and respectful and dont hate Lois just cause she might rain on their parade, hey while Im at it I have seen a couple of posts of you (RamonaE) and I have never seen you bash Lois, or being disrespectfull with other posters.
As for other shipers, lets face it, with evil Lana Clarmy dont have much to say and as for Cloisers, Im sure not all but at least cloisers (at least the ones I have met so far), including myself, usualy like Chloe, even if she is potencialy a threath for some Clois in SV.

i can see the point where people think it was pointless to keep it, but i agree with the people that said it had purpose to leave it in the broadcast version.
it shows that lois is interested in how the barn door got there, which leads to her writing the story.

Well no it shouldn't have been deleted because I think they were trying to show what sparks Lois' investigative nature.

The scene belongs there because it's tied to how Lois got her first article published and it establishes Lois' insatiable curiousity (ties in well with Clark's line "You know Lois, she wouldn't stop digging until she gets to China").
And Chlo-Lo moments are always a plus :)

Well then it underscored the fact that Lois has not been shown to be that inquisitive and Clark's remark was part and parcel of an egregious attempt at retconning the worst Lois ever. Formerly, you'll recall that in addition to saying she basically hated journalism and refused to even consider it, she rarely showed any evidence of being interested in mysteries. She wanted to find dirt of Lex because he made her angry with his insult so what does she do? She goes to Chloe to ask her to do it for her. EDLois would stop digging the minute she found someone else to do it for her.
The only good thing about that scene was watching Chloe divert Lois in order to protect Clark. It wasn't too hard, was it? THe results were that Lois bought the microburst theory and wrote it, basically writing what Chloe told her and willingly making up facts to go along with it at her "editor's" instructions. Pitiful first article at that.
Other than that, the scene was not that critical.

So true.
I didn't buy the retrofit either. Her sudden interest in/love for journalism doesn't fly. Not in light of her past statements. Seems like TPTB are trying to make SVLois into iconicLois and it isn't believable. Not to me. Not yet.
