Normally I find Lois about as appealing as a hammer to my manly bits, but tonight I actually enjoyed her quirky attempt at getting someone, anyone to take her story seriously. I also didn't find her jump into journalism to be as much of a stretch as I thought it would. Although you'd think Lois' curiousity would have been triggered much earlier given all the strange things she has witnessed in Smallville.

Me too, I liked how she was acually interested in investigating something. Which is a great thing to prepare her to become the Lois Lane that works at the Daily Planet.

Exactly my problem with her jump into journalism. It's not the second meteor shower in 15 years, or being in a plane crash, or yadda yadda, but it's a barn door falling out of the sky nearly 'killing' her that makes her get into it.

Oh well, maybe we'll finally get some character development in her after two years.

I noticed that too. Get attacked and shoot a man who can turn into liquid metal with a ray gun, watch your cousin get posessed and almost forced to kill yourself, and women who try to send you mentally insane via plastic surgary and Lois decides to take advantage of a barn door falling out of the sky to step into her journalistic destiny?

She's quirky... :) And I like her!

Yes, your avatar smallvillecrazygurl04 is so hot. It actually makes me jealous of Lana (for a fraction of a second).

Totally agree. I totally was pissed at first about how they got her into writing this episode, but ya know. You have to look at the big picture and see what she'll do with it now that she's caught the writing bug. It can only get better, right?

My only complaint as well. It would have made a world of difference if Lois came storming back to the house and said something along the lines of, "Enough is enough! Meteor showers, plane crashes, power outages, freaks with powers and now a flying barn door! What is up with this town?" It would have been a teensy bit more convincing.

I think they should have started her writing last season, when she wanted to do some investigating into Lex. They should have at least eased her into it a little better.

Well I think they couldn't do it last year because of the restrictions on her character. But last year would have made more sense. Oh well... shes in it now.

yea it would have been much better if she did, cause the comment she made were out of place to me.While I'm glad she's seen the light/found her callin as she says I thought jher reasons were awful. As for her bein likable I like lois when she's bickerin wit clark, but outside of that she was likable tonight.I think tptb r playin it smart wit both her and chloe so far,I pray they dont mess them up when they getin involved wit sumone later on.Cause right now both seem to shine onscreen imo.Even Lana besides her run in wit clark

There are so many missed opportunities in that regard, but I guess the "restrictions" or whatever you could call it are somewhat lifted. Sometimes the writers seem more preoccupied with the grand flourishes to the story than the small details that add that all important dimension of realism to the show.

Oh no! You've been lost to the dark side. Snap out of it, lol. Apart from the wtf lightswitch part [which was basically a given considering that it is Smallville], she didn't grate on the nerves as much. I'd say that's a plus. Now if they could just develop the character more... :)

Here's the thing with the writers. They either go too fast or too slow. It's getting bad. I'm so frustrated with this show. I wish they could get the timing thing down.

Good night everyone, great chat!

Well, I actually liked the Chlark in this episode so I guess we're even. ;) :p

Although, funnily enough, I'm a Lois fan and I actually thought the handling of the whole thing was kind of lightswitchy. Instead of giving Lois a romantic storyarc with GA, why didn't they give her a storyarc about getting involved in journalism and not just have her decide in one episode that journalism was her calling?

I posted in another thread that lois was half-way likeable to me tonight, not the usual toid that she usually has been in the past. That is the good news.

The bad news is that I finally discovered what it is about her that seems wrong to me and that is that she seems a caricature of a person to me. Using contrived facial expressions, seeming somewhat of a dim-wit, she doesn't seem 'real' to me. Maybe I should say that she is cartoonish, but since I don't look a funny books, I don't find that kind of a characterization believeable or desirable. Not good for the actress's long-term job prospects.

Again, as I said elsewhere, she was not obnoxious tonight, just plastic.

Again, it was lightswitchy but they could have easily addressed that by having an exasperated Lois exclaim that she's had enough of the weird happenings with this town and if Chloe wasn't going to look into is she was (which I guess they sort of did, but it was suggested more than anything). Not that I want Lois to step into Chloe's shoes, but I it seems that working at the Inquisitor she's already doing that. It's interesting that ever since Chloe learned of Clark's secret and started working at the Planet she has been leaning towards hard news and crime fighting. I guess that leaves Lois to follow up on all the flying barn door incidents.

I am so glad you enjoyed the Charky goodness. Pretty soon you'll be happily clicking "Clark and Chloe" or "Chloe" on any given poll. :) OK, maybe not but it is a step.
