i love lists

heck i learned the language from watching tv more than my really slack primary school

anyway when i was a kid it was transformers, The Ninja Turtles, samurai pizza cats and what not, cartoons arent the same as they used to be for some inexplicable reason

the last episode of the Wonder Years from that point onward meant i started watching adult tv from that point on

The Simpsons Continued my love of cartoons, now a lot older, understanding the adult jokes on the show as well, i used to watch just for the fact it was cool drawings and what not

The X-Files - now that was a show that capitalised on me being both frightened and horny

24 is a show i watch as a show to keep in track with friends

Six Feet Under is my current favourite show, strangely it makes some of the more serious things in life seem funny

dont like sitcoms as much because of the canned laughter, but Malcolm in the Middle and Seinfeld are my favourite 2 sitcoms

I really only watch Smallville and Angel now because I'm not a big teevee watcher, but back in the day I was all about the SeaQuest DSV. :) Even further back in the day I never missed an ep of Silver Spoons or Growing Pains, and way way back in the day it was Gummi Bears, Voltron, Thundercats, Princess of Power, Care Bears, Rainbow Brite, My Little Pony, and Strawberry Shortcake. I also watched some anime cartoon called Flower Angel, but it was always on tape, not on teevee.

As much as I *love* Smallville, my favorite show of ALL TIME is Friends. To me, it never gets old... I still laugh my head off at episodes I've seen dozens of times. And yes, I own all the DVD sets and can spout off random Friends quotes at any given time! :D I'm sad this is the last year, but at the same time glad it's going out on top.

My other favorites:
Smallville
Alias
Buffy (earlier years)
Gilmore Girls
ER
Will & Grace
Scrubs
That 70's show
Lois & Clark
Batman (the cheesy 60's show and the Animated Series)
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Whose Line...?
Two Guys and a Girl
I Love Lucy
The Cosby Show
Even Stevens
Late Night with Conan O'Brien

And most recently: The O.C. and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

I am such a TV junkie.

This is a really tough call... of all time??? Geez... 90% of the shows I used to watch as a kid and LOVED are actually Crap, now that I catch em in re-runs... ie: A-team, Night Rider, Air Wolf, 6 million dollar man, wonder woman...
I don't even think Smallville would make my list, even though I watch it religiously, simply because the writing has not lived up to expectations yet... perhaps this season I'll change my mind.
Awight, here's my list in no particular order.

Sopranos (Season 1 & 2 only )
The Shield
Highlander
Quantum Leap
Star Trek: TNG (seasons 3 - 7), DS9 (seasons 3-7), Voyager (All)
24 (season 1 only)
Family Guy
Simpsons
Sherlock Holmes Mysteries (BBC series)
ER (Seasons 1 & 2)
WKRP in Cincinatti
Lois & Clark (season 1 only)
Red Dwarf

Did anyone ever see Sapphire and Steel? Joanna Lumley, David McCallum (so very sexy as Steel) ITV early 80's.

"All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. Transuranic heavy elements may not be used where there is life. Medium atomic weights are available: Gold, Lead, Copper, Jet, Diamond, Radium, Sapphire, Silver and Steel...Sapphire and Steel have been asigned"

Best title sequence known to man? Anyone?

Kerryann
11-11-2003, 08:01 PM
I have to vote about two or three times then... I don't have just one.. Smallville is the best by verily far and away, but Charmed is in there, then Tarzan, then Gilmore Girls, and we can't forget Angel (although with the way the season is coming on, I just might)....

Sorry... I'm three and four timing Smallville.. :o

11-11-2003, 08:32 PM
Can't say I have another favorite other than Smallville. I occasionally will tune into 7th Heaven and One Tree Hill (not sure I can say I'm a fan of this show just yet though). I used to love Angel, but gave up on that show last season. I tried to watch Tarzan, but was phenomenally disappointed. Gilmore Girls has witty writing, but I've never really watched it regularly and Charmed always strikes me as a ridiculous show with loads of overacting. Boy, I sound like a sour puss tonight. Sorry for the negative opinion here friends. I absolutely ADORE Smallville - does that make it better???

Don't get me wrong ... Angel and Smallville are both fun shows that I watch every week, and can even (obviously) get obsessive over. But I really enjoy Everwood. It's not West Wing, and not even 24, but it's got a lot of heart, and its shortcomings are rare.

Everwood--agree with JollyCynic it has a lot of heart and Gregory Smith is absolutely adorable
Gilmore Girls--sometimes I get tired of lightening fast banter

The entire Buffyverse (BUFFY and ANGEL) is priority number one.

Other shows would be,

Late Night w/ Conan, The Daily Show, Tough Crowd (w/ Colin Quinn) for my political satire fix.

Boy Meets World was one of my favorites, but really, who lives in that sort of world. It's just too unbelievable.

Same goes for Friends, although Season 10 is starting off really well. "Phallic cake" ;)

Smallville is right behind the Buffyverse though:cool:

There were so many cool shows. My earliest favorite was Six Million Dollar Man. Back then there wasn't much sci fi on television. I think the only other choice was Gun-smoke and Bonanza. And westerns were like detective and cop shows today, if you watched one you've seen them all. With the exception of Monk, he's in a class by himself!

Mischevious and Lune,I would love to talk with you by PM sometime.Mischevious,I also am in agreement with you about 90210.Like you said the first 3 seasons were by far the best, after that,it went totally downhill from there and it just turned into a damn soap opera because they lost all their best writers to MELROSE PLACE.I would love to talk with you by PM about those first 3 seasons.

Lune, great to see your a big fan of 7 DAYS also.some were not that good at all,but a lot of them were really great. You will never believe the real reason why that show was cancelled,it had good ratings after all.

BUFFY-all time favorite show
SMALLVILLE- not as good as Buffy, Smallvilles action sequences and storylines are better but smallville does not really have enough comedy and all of the characters conduct themselves way too seriously as if they are in their 30's as opposed to Buffy when everyone is just making jokes in the face of death...hehe
THE SOPRANOS- Brilliant show
CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM- Funniest show on TV right now
ANGEL-not as good as Buffy or Smallville but has it bright points
MELROSE PLACE- I was actually about 7 or 8 years old when i used to watch this show and looking back i probably wouldnt like it now but i loved it then.
SPIDER MAN- the saturday morning fox cartoon was my obsession for a good part of my childhood.
NIP/TUCK- great first season, i doubt the second season will be any good, probably a lot of re-occuring storylines and things like that but the first season was still great.
FRIENDS-pretty funny, Chandler is one of my favorite characters in TV history.
SEX AND THE CITY- great show

I love 'Great Performances', 'Mystery' and 'Live from the Met'

Guilty pleasures include Gilligan's Island, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Partridge Family and the Brady Bunch

I'm heartened to see all the Voltron/He-Man fans out there. In college we had something called the 'Voltron Twinkie Time He-Man Hoho Happy Hour' to which we were quite devoted. ;)

They've had some cool Saturday Morning cartoons, but as for the Prime Time Stuff, I only watch Smallville and Angel. I just started watching Angel when they took over Wolfram and Hart, but I really like it, and from what I've seen of past episodes, I think I like it better in the new ones. I think Spike adds a lot to the show. I'm not sure I'd watch it without his character on it, though maybe, because Winifred is darn cute. But then it would just be a hormone thing, which is just sad. But I'd also be watching it for that great opening. Love the music! Sometimes I catch the Gilmore Girls, but I'm pretty sure that's just a hormone thing...

Oh, yeah, I'll sometimes catch Charmed too. Mainly for Rose McGowan. Anyone who would date Marilyn Manson has mental problems, but she's darn hot. I like all the magik stuff too, as entertainment anyway. Gotta keep that fantasy vs. reality line visible. ;)

In no particular order, probably forgetting some, and probably starting with the shows I watch currently, since they're freshest in my brain.

Smallville, Angel, Dark Shadows (original and remake), Sailor Moon, Honey I Shrunk the Kids the TV Show, Lizzie McGuire, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Frasier, Seinfeld, Quantum Leap, the old Disney weekly TV shows (Disneyland, Walt Disney Presents, Wonderful World of Color, Wonderful World of Disney, etc....), Duck Tales, Gummi Bears, Tale Spin, Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers, Little Mermaid, New Adventures of Pooh, Aladdin, Timon and Pumbaa, Marsupilami, Shnookums and Meat, Bonkers, Darkwing Duck, Quack Pack, House of Mouse, Kim Possible, Fillmore, Gargoyles (and sadly, no, I don't get Toon Disney), Ghostbusters, Ewoks, Batman animated, Superman animated, Justice League, Big Wolf On Campus, Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Scare Tactics, Dukes of Hazard, Ghostbusters Extreme, Goof Troop, Sabrina the Animated Series, Dobie Gillis, sometimes Saturday Night Live and Mad TV, Kids In the Hall, The Big Easy, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Power Puff Girls, Dexter's Lab, Cow and Chicken, Teen Wolf, Galaxy High, Drac Pack, Greatest American Hero, The Incredible Hulk, (the very similar) Werewolf, Jack of All Trades, Brisco County Jr., Married with Children, Unhappily Ever After, Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, Cheers, Night Court, You Can't Do That on Television, Superboy, Batman, Clone Wars, X-Men Evolution, and I'll just stop there.

Oh, I forgot about Jamie Kennedy, but I do catch it when I can! I wish I could remember to catch it regularly, but of all the shows I like, Smallville and Angel are the only ones I really remember not to forget. As for Everwood and One Tree Hill...well, all I can say is, ugh. There's just something about WB drama. It just seems so hokey. That girl on Everwood is an angel though. But that last preview was a turn off. I'm just a little sick of all these shows about teens desperate to lose their virginity because they think they're "in love." And then the modern attitude of "just wear a condom honey." Great parenting.

bluehybrid69
02-06-2004, 01:51 PM
The WB is known for it's teen drama's. Jaime Kennedy Experiment in my opinion is like Punk'd on MTV. Both are shows trying to goof people off and it just seems like another craze that will eventually fade away. I cannot believe that the reality tv craze is still lasting as long as it is. That is TV for you.

slave2moonlight
02-07-2004, 02:07 AM
Jamie Kennedy X is a little different. It's in the vein of practical jokes shows going back as far as the 60's, and maybe earlier, with stuff like "Candid Camera." I'm not a fan of the modern reality shows AT ALL. Especially one of the more recent crazes, the dating shows.

You damn right!! Quantum Leap is my all time favorite show as well. It should have gone on for at least a couple of more seasons. Dean Stockwell and Scott Bakula were flat out amazing. It is almost like Scott was destined to play the role because his initials match Sam Beckett's. Rumor has it that Quantum Leap will be on DVD at the end of 2004.

That series was truly amazing, great sci-fi and nice special effects for a show that aired in the late 80's - early 90's.

I like soaps too. I watched Passions up until Josh Ryan Evans passed away. The show was cool with the witches and supernatural stories. I don't watch it anymore. They don't use Juliet Mills's character Tabitha anymore and it seems the supernatural stories are gone. And up until All My Children crossed over to One Life To Live with the baby switch story, I use to be a big fan of that show, All My Children not OLTL.

Currently, I´m enjoying The Munsters Today, which is being showed at TV3 on weekday mornings.

Then there´s this Australian adventure series called The Search For Treasure Island, about some people being stranded on the island which R.L. Stevenson´s book "Treasure Island" was based on and where people have been forced to stay on for centuries because of a maelstrom surrounding the island.

Other shows I like watching are The Joe Schmoe Show, Jamie Kennedy Experiment and Simpsons.

Pretty obsessive about the Simpson’s, but I live in the UK and only have terrestrial TV.

Which means we get one new (new for me, way old for Sky One viewers) and five repeats per week.

Regardless of how many times I've seen the episodes I always watch every single one, every single week. :\

Also watch ‘I Dream’ and ‘The Lizzie McGuire Show’ whenever they’re on, despite me being 15 years old and male. If you’ve seen the shows you’ll understand. ;)

Also, there was an episode where if this guy didn't go fast enough in his car his head would explode and I changed the channel to it without knowing it was the X-Files. I freaked out b/c I thought it was real and I called my parents to tell them to put the TV on!!! Then the theme song came on and I felt really stupid!
