Was anyone really surprised Lex didn't remember any of what happened? I wasn't. No one ever remembers.

it really is too bad lex does not remember anything, or any film of that fight it was great.

 My thoughts exactly.

Lex is going to have to forget the entire series to not know that Clark Kent is Superman in the non-series future.

I'm not really convinced that Lex forgot everything, from when he ran into the field during 'Vessel' up until the end of 'Zod'.

The way Lex was twirling that broken disk Zod left behind, makes me think he remembers something.

i think it was a bit much that he didn't remember anything since the beginning of Vessel

It's one of those things you gotta accept on the show. When the future is known to the audience, but not to the characters, they* have to get mind-wiped every time they get a glimpse.

*"they" meaning the characters, not the audience. :D

They always use memory wipes to retcon stuff

Ticket2theMoon

I was a little confused about that myself. He was still Lex for most of Vessel, why did he not remember that part?

vyperman7
09-28-2006, 08:25 PM
NO ONE should be suprised by this anymore.

They have always done this. A main character who doesn't know the secret, will see or hear something that gives Clark away. By the end of the episode, the restart is hit.

It still cracks me up how may people actually get dissapointed when it happens. I mean, hasn't everyone been watching the same show? :D

Seriously man.

I would be more shocked by people's dissapointment then I would be with Lex remembering nothing.

Of Course Lex isn't going to remember ......But he does know from lana something happened so he will still be investagating whats going on ....

It always upset me when Chloe got the memory wipe. Not surprised, but upset. I'm a huge advocate for Chloe as a character (not just in a "shippy" way, though there's that, too). I have always said what a strong person she is and what a great ally she would be (before she knew). And she's proved it over and over. It was worth the wait.

But to keep this post on topic, Lex has probably had it happen more than anyone, except maybe Lana.

It's what i love about Buffy, Ryan. When people learn stuff or get posessed, they remember!:D

But with a new aspect of the mystery to investigate, that means we get lots more of those tags with Lex looking pensively at some significant artifact/video footage/revealing photograph etc.

I love those moments.

I knew that he wouldn't remember anything that went on. that is sort of the trend in Smallville, Losing your memory is typical.

The Buffy people weren't beholden to a plotline that had been written/created decades before. They didn't have to lug Superman's baggage around with them. They got to build it all up themselves. Making the superman story fresh and original and yet sticking to the requirements of the overall plotline ... that's a tough balancing act.

I must've missed something because I am unaware how Clark knew that necklace had the power to drive Zod out of Lex forcing Lex to also lose his memories as Lexod. Im guessing Raya told Clark the secret of the House of El pendant when I turned my head from the show for a second...grrr...hate when that happens!

AlphaSigmaOne
09-28-2006, 08:54 PM
Nope. Just another plot hole.

EricN68
09-28-2006, 08:55 PM
Yeah, she said the phantoms can't stand the sign of the house of El or something like that. I'll have to listen more carefully next time through.

Someone else said the emblem was made out of black K or something -- does that sound right? It's certainly the right idea (turning one being into two separate beings). But can he just hold black K without it affecting him?

What if your mind was erased at the precise instant you made your poll choice and clicked "yes" without remembering it?

Ticket2theMoon
09-28-2006, 08:58 PM
No, I don't think that holds up. Clark had seen that crystal at work on the beings in the phantom zone, it's logical to think it would affect Zod. He took a gamble, I think. He didn't know if it would do anything, but what were his options?

I was pretty much surprised that Lex didn't remember all that crazy action of world domination. Ouch man.

He should've taken notes, he'll need them later when he has completely transformed into crazy-dominating-mass-murderer-Lex later on.

Very true, very true. They do a good job under those restrictions. (Still, Lana really should now by now, it doesn't violate any Superman canon.)

I gave up hope that Lana would ever learn anything about half-way through season 2. If she learned Clark's secret, she wouldn't have anything to be angsty about. And who could have teen-drama without ANGST???

Although, I must confess, I did have a small glimmer of hope that now that Clana is in critical condition, the secret would come out while Clark fought LexZod. Alas, no. I swear that girl has more head trauma than Giles did on Buffy

Hee hee, that's the truth. Alright, Clark, no Jor-El, no Chloe, no Dr. Swann to figure it out for you. Think, man! And he did. God bless season 6 and all the great times we have to look forward to.

It just would have been nice if there had been some kind of inkling that lex was lying to lana, even though he promised her that he would never do that. however i saw nothing giving that away. Usually in a smallville ep, you can see something, something in the pacing of lex' speech , the way his eyes glare or how he quite can't look at you just right to pull the lie off. Unless . . . he walked away from losing his other powers with a new one. . . .

The thing that gotten old is that the clueless charaters always pass out in the nick of time when Clark shows up to save the day.

If Lana would have been allowed to see Clark uses his powers agains Zod then she would have felt like such an @$$. THat would have been cool.

Another very lame technique that Smallville has raped to the point of being very sad on the writers part. Now Lex is write where he was not to long ago. He's going to try to uncover who Clark is, and going to continue to search for the answers of E.T. life.

I will had liked that he kept the S symbol scar this would had be enough for him to beleive that somehow Superman was involved with Zod and his close encounter of the third kind and make this a better explanation of Lex hates towards Supes...

EricN68
09-29-2006, 11:20 AM
^^ I thought that was going to happen too, actually. And it was on his "bad hand" right? The one that eventually ends up with a glove? Ah well...

Ticket2theMoon
09-29-2006, 11:52 AM
Is it just the one hand that we've seen a glove on? (I'm assuming you're refering to the 'visions' we've seen of Lex in the future, right?) I'd never noticed that before. Yeah, I was looking forward to a mysterious scar for him to obsess over.

I voted no, but I should have voted yes just to be an ass. Maybe they should just retcon the entire series in the finale? It's almost as bad as what they've been doing for five seasons.

Massive memory wipes for EVERYONE! It would explain why no one recognizes Clark when he dons the Super-Tights.

And that joke would be funnier, if I weren't actually afraid that's what they're planning for the Series Finale...

Even if Lex did forget... I'm wondering how much he'll learn from Lana. Why wouldn't she tell him, considering their relationship is apparently still alive and kicking? That combined with the ship's hard drive could make for some pretty interesting episodes later on...

Ticket2theMoon

You know how they'll play that hard drive. We've seen it and gotten a bad feeling, but it'll disappear for awhile now and resurface just when we've forgotten about it. I love it when they do that. I don't see why Lana wouldn't tell Lex, except that despite her demand for the truth from everyone else, she has a funny way of forgetting to tell it to other people. Like when she faked the ransack of her apartment and hid the element from Jason (whose body we never did see, could he maybe turn up again or did we lose him to Supernatural forever? I guess that storyline has played itself out, though). I think this will bring about one of those, "How could you not have told me?" moments.

As usual smallville is too predictable. There are so many cover ups and unexplained events....It's getting too lame. It's high time they quit all this crap about memory loss, sudden passing out/K.Os because it's making the series unreal. There had better not be a seventh season with the same plot..
