You might want to explain what exactly it is you're referring to...

You need to at least learn the meaning of the word plagiarism before you use it. Plagiarism = something you could get sued for, and clearly the show Smallville runs things by DC before doing them, if they were going to consider it plagiarism, they would have done it before the show aired and put a stop to it.

Oh right. The whole kneeling as a ruse to defeat Zod. It was almost exact including the camera angles!

ETA: I was just joking anyway.

It gets old, oh so old, to hear this crap, so joking or not, I had to say it. And it's fine if you want to joke, but again, please learn the meaning of words before using them.

How insane are you people?! That was by far the best homage I have seen in a very long time. I especially loved the whole "deposession" effect when Zod gives up his hold on Lex...and that brief but awesome superfight? How cool is that?

Besides, if I know Smallville, Zod isn't gone by any means; he'll be back:lol:

moviefan, I agree that the scene was great. People just think that once they've seen one version of something they've seen every version and that everything else is a ripoff. :/

The fact that I used the term in the correct context should show you that I know the meaning, the fact that they WILL NOT get sued should show that it's a joke. But I guess some people don't have a sense of humor. I actually liked the scene as well, but whatever.

That's all I have to say about that.

I don't suppose anyone has a still shot from the depossession scene, do they? I coulda sworn that Zod's essence looked exactly like Terrance Stamp's Zod in Superman 2.

And as soon as I heard "Kneel before Zod!" I was hoping they'd do a good Superman 2 homage. I wasn't disappointed :)

I thought it was great myself. Don't remember that from Superman 2, but I need to watch that movie again to refresh.

I don't know why but I accualy thought that Clark was going to crush his hands like in Supeman II

I thought he was going to do that too. I was already ready to roll my eyes and go, "When did he lose his powers?"

But I was pleasantly surprised.

It was similar but not the same. In SM2 he thought Clark was powerless and just kneeling and he crushed his hand. In this Zod just beat him down so he thought he was submitting and got tricked by him and taken out of him with the EL Crest. I'd say it was more hommage than ripoff. I thought the Phantom Zod looked cool too. I just wish Clark had got one punch in.

I think maybe that was intentional, arob. He starts to grimace, though of course in this case it was the crystal. And I totally agree that the "excorcised" Zod looked like Terrence Stamp. There are homages everywhere in this series(do you call it foreshadowing in this context? Maybe retroactive foreshadowing. I like that). Spot-the-homage is one of my favorite things to do when watching. The use of the music in Legacy is one of my favorites. My heart swells with pride when I hear it crescendo at the end! (I'm a musician, pardon my rhapsodizing)

I was thinking the same thing, but to an extent they did that.

Sorry to piss on the I love Smallville parade but that was SAD! That wasn't homage that was "I can't think of my own ending so I'll use Superman 2's ending" Just because they're not getting sued dosen't mean it's cool to copy. Hey I love the movies as much as anyone, but I don't want to see MAJOR plot points resolved the same freakin' way. You know they can't get much else about the mythos right so this just shows you that when they can't think of a solution for the stupid mess they created that they have to "steel" from the writers of Superman 2. An homage is what they did when Clark was in the phonebooth in "Exile" not the resolution of a storyline--yuck! how unoriginal.
Now for all the people who are gonna get angry at me here's one more thing to cry about. Instead of "homages" like this let's "homage" Superman movies by doing something every one of them did namey FLYING. Oh that's right "it's not in the budget." Well at this point since so many people are happy with this "homage" aka Superman 2 re-hash. I say we fire all the writers take what they were being paid and put that money (which is considerable, I'm sure) to flying costs. Since we allready have the work of good writers to glean from we won't need the current ones anymore.

They also "ripped off" the Chlark hand hold scene at the end of Crush in season 1 from Superman 2 with Superman and Lois in the FoS.

It's not the first time. And it won't be the last. I like it when they do that.

They ripped off Lois & Clark with Jimmy calling Clark "CK" too
