How did you think he portrayed Zod?
Right now from how he did Zod in Vessel i think it was good but we didnt really get to see much of zod doing stuff. The clips for this new episode with Zod look good.

I think he will do a good job. I like him in Vessel.

If he plays Zod as well as JG played Jor-El in Hidden Ill be very satisfied. That was a good performance.

Thought he did great. Is it just me, or did he look hot as hell when he grabbed the knife from Lana, knowing what she was up to the whole time?

He was freakin' heartless. I think he could have been a little bit more "different" in voice than he was, but overall I have no real complaints.

it was really awful, just terrible. the only good thing was when he maimed Lana

I liked it that he didn't use any "different" voice, like a fake English accent or something. I think that was a good choice. Nice acting job for Michael in this ep.

Well I didn't necessarily mean a different accent. But he's supposed to be an alien. I felt he didn't quite sound alien enough in some way. He sounded too comfortable with the English language or something...

He was great, he was completly ruthless, which was what I liked about how he portrayed ZOD. I think that he could of had alittle bit of an Accent, but other than that he was great.

I hated him in Zod but I think its more because he came across as focused one-sided average baddie when he should have been extremely arrogant and threatening. I didnt buy into his MR portrayal the least bit. But I also cut MR a lot of slack since I love his version of Lex as much as I liked John Shea's version

I still didn't like the fact about Zod possessing Lex....I was hoping they would have another actor for the role, but Michael did a very good job overall.

I thought he did a great job. He seemed to play Zod with more of a heartless, robotic expression.

Yea Michael did better than I expected the way he manhandled lana and clark was on point. Now if only tptb would bring him back late in the season, espcially since other PZ prisoners have escaped. He did a good job but they need to let him continue atleast once more

I think he explained things way too much to Lana, I mean I supose it was good for the audience FYI but he had no reason for Lana to know anything. He should have kept it on a need to know basis with her, now clark on the other hand he has every reason to piss him off by saying what all he is going to do to earth.
I would have liked Lana throwing things and breaking swords on him as he types away though lol. And it would have been very interesting to see how getting some of lex's kryptonite to use against him! I mean he had a full safe of it and she does put a peice in a metal box so that she might have a chance of stabbing him o0?

I thought that Rosenbaum did a much better job in Zod as compared to Vessel, but it was his acting talent that made it watchable. I still would've rathered seen someone else play Zod.

I wasn't impressed. He didn't create a different persona to me. He just seemed like Lex in an exceptionally bad mood. He did ramp it up a bit in his scenes with Clark. But with Lana? Didn't impress, IMO.

Hmm Micheal Rosenbaum did a really great job doing his role as Zod. But it sux when Zod's spirit left him. I guess Lex will be more stronger like Zod if he had the same power as Clark.

MR i think did a good job as zod. it is kind of the way i wish he would play lex with the bad ass talk and stabbing lana in the hand type stuff lol. and he stood upright more and played hate really good

He was like Lex with a leather coat.
They should have altered his voice, eyes, etc. Also, when he was interrupted by Clark, he would/should have simply snapped Lana's neck, then turned around.

He was too much of a pretty boy to play Zod. It wasn't right, Zod is a Evil Dictator not a super model. He didn't separate his Lex personality from his Zod.

Michael did alot better than I was expecting...very cold and evil and ruthless. I'm still disappointed by the whole Lexod thing, but MR did a really good job with the role nontheless. You could tell that MR was having fun playing a real bad guy for once.

I thought he did great. There was a subtelty (sp?) to it without being over the top.
How it really stood out was once he returned to being Lex and when he saw Lana for the first time and spoke.
So, for me, kudos to MR.

yea I got that too and enjoyed it,I thought he felt more comfortable playin an actual villian. He just looked so coldhearted espcially when he told lana he didn't care for her wellbein haha.I think sum r still alil too upset that MR played Zod that they not givin him sum credit. He did good imo, much better than I expected his portral of Zod impress me like his alexander potral in Onxy.It just shows the potential he has if tptb make him fully evil

Michael did a very good job, and showed some range of acting..
But there is only one Terrance Stamp. If we could get his voice, why can't we get the actor?

I didn't particularly care about MR's portrayal of Zod. It was too much like Lex.

I thought his portrayal was very good. Remember this was Zod inhabiting Lex's body. And I don't think Lex was fully submerged -- thus Zod's choice of Lana as his bride.
Though he's not the actor that John Glover is, Rosenbaum has a way of portraying attitude that makes him the next strongest member of the cast. He made it clear that Zod was calling the shots without having to make faces or distort his voice.

I think MR did a fantastic job. I don't agree with the notion that he should have had some time of accent or voice alteration. Zod's not from England, he's from Krypton...LOL. And I don't agree that MR's Zod was too much like Lex. His portrayal of Lex always comes across as snide, always seeming to want to best his opponents mentally, and always flexing his influence over people and situations. His portrayal of Zod, on the other hand, came across as "I don't give a crap - I'm Zod and I cannot be stopped", pushing anything and everything in his way aside, or even killing without so much as flinching (i.e., stabbing Lana's hand - yay!). Did you see the look in his face? No blink, no nothin'...just stabbo! and then walk away.
Way to freakin' go, MR. :)

the look on his face when he was beatin clark thru that boulder and how he talked to lana about not needin her, made me like him.Like I said even tho it was a possession theme it pleased me cause I got another glimpse of how evil lex could be if tptb let him.MR looked comfortable playin a villan and if they go the evil route sum more this season it'll be great. Not sayin MR Zod was the best but it was much better than expected he actually pulled it off imo

Just what I was going to say. Namek, Aethyr and Raya had American accents, so it's actually continuity to have Zod have the same accent.
I thought MR played Zod well. During the fight, he really brought across the feeling of animosity Zod has toward the house of El. Especially when he punched Clark into the boulder; that guy hated Kal-El.

Not to derail the thread too much, but I agree with the poster just above me. The tear in Lana's eye when she was getting ready to do what she had to do ... a combination of the horror of realizing that she was about to kill Lex's body (at least), revulsion at what she had to do to get Zod to let his guard down, the anger at Zod for what he'd done... Yeah. good stuff.

I enjoy Rosenbaum when he's less serious, like in 'Lexmas'. He's more fun to watch relaxed or in the early seasons when he was still on good terms with Clark.

That's the "bitter" in the bittersweet that makes up Smallville. The foreknowledge of their enmity ... the foreknowledge that Clark and Lana will not end up together ... the foreknowledge that JK was (probably) going to die at some point during the series ... if nothing else, it makes good drama...

Although I do think Zod and Lex act very similarly, I think MR did an azazing job as usual. Bravo.

He played a good Zod. I especially like the way he said: "Zod doesn't take orders, he gives them."
Though I almost laughed when he said "Kneel before Zod! KNEEL!"

Michael playing Zod just reminded me of Michael playing Dark Lex - not the Evil Lex from when he was split in half but all those moments when he invites someone into his mansion and goes all, "I'm going to erase your identity" on their asses.
Really not much difference IMO.

I liked his voice.
He spoke very differently than Lex, much darker. Well done.
