I felt like taking a break from Smallville vids, so I made a vid centered around Angel! It's about losing control to his dark side and being haunted by his crimes. Music by Three Days Grace. Feedback is greatly appreciated. I used footage from Buffy AND Angel. (And no Angel spoilers please! I've only seen the first season!)

Travis,
It is awesome that you made a BTVS video. Smallville vids are a thing of the past. :)
GREAT VIDEO!
* I don't know if you got my PM but all you had to do to include a text intro is cntrl+a. This would have selected everything in your timeline, and you could have moved everything down in one fail swoop for the duration of how long you wanted the intro to be. I do this all the time. I will just start the video. Then when I finally finish, I will just select all in the timeline, and move everything down like 5 seconds or so. One recommendation I do have for you, is get to know the basic keyboard shortcuts. It will speed things up for you and make things easier on you. But the text thing didn't really bug me.
First of all I really liked the song choice because of how well it fits Angel's character as a whole. The lyrics match up really well with both sides of his personality.
- Great start to the video with the scenes from Innocence. I liked the fade to blacks here and it was awesome how you timed Angel shooting up in bed with the music kicking in. I also really liked the match up of Angelus blowing smoke out for "I can't escape this hell". The red color change worked great.
- Great timing with the Orb of Thesila smashing on the wall in cue with the smash in the song @ .47. I also loved lyric match of Angelus snapping Jenny's neck in Passion for "I can't control myself".
- Great lyric match for "There's still rage inside" @ 1:32-1:36 with the scene from Angel's "Sanctuary". You also had great timing with the kick from Buffy @ 1:37 on Angel in "Beauty and the Beasts".
- Another great lyric match for "I can't control myself" with the dream scene from Amends where Angel spouts his fangs and feeds on Buffy @ 1:40.
- I really liked how you let the camera motion hang on the lyric when you used the scene from "Phases" @ 2:07 - 2:11. The red color change worked well once again.
- Really liked the sequence from 2:30 - 2:32 with the clips from Innocence with Buffy/Angel fighting and how you timed the white flashes to the music,
- My favorite part of the video was from 2:33 - 2:56. I loved how you intercut the photos from ATS episode "Somnambulist" with various shots of the victims and Angel killing, then how you went to the Angelus/Faith kissing scene which hung perfectly on the lyric, and then the zoom into Angel kicking in the door from the ATS episode "Bachelor Party". Angel kicking in the door is one of my favorite ATS scenes.
- PERFECT placement on the sword fighting from Becoming. You chose the perfect place in the song to have it.
- Great manip at the end of the video showing Buffy looking out a window and then going to the scene from ATS with Angel looking into a window from the rooftops and cutting to the scene of him walking down the alley. Perfect way to end it. That is the scene I always wanted to use to end with if I made an Angel video.
**********
Definately my favorite video from you Travis, and I personally feel it is your best one. Fantastic song choice, great scene choices, and excellent editing.
* There was only one rough spot editing wise @ 2:02 when you were on SMG's face and then crossfaded into her face again. Since you stayed on the same spot, the crossfade looked a tad rough. That was the only gripe I had though.
* On an unrelated note - Isn't SMG the hottest woman ever? Man, I am in love with her. Everytime I see an episode of Buffy I can't help but get lost in her beauty.

Yay! I have the V-Man seal of approval!:D Yeah, I got the PM. Thanks for the advice! Glad you liked the song choice! I picked it because it fit Angel so well, even though Erin already did a vid too it. (But it was a SV vid, so big difference there.) I'm still gonna do smallville vids, but I must say, this was so much more fun to make!
Glad you liked the beginning! At first I thought I'd have a bunch of quick but slow flash scenes, until I realized 4 parts from the sex scene fit the beat fine! I was wondering how the Red color would go overm with the smoke scene. At first I tried to invert it to get black smoke, but it turned swamp gree. The red fit in with the blood lust anyway.
Ah, the Orb of Thessulah! I heard the little crash and went straight for that scene! One of my fav parts! At first Jenny's death was going to be "The darkest side of me", but my favorite scene in Passion isn't her death. It's the phone call. Angelus spying through the window and grinning at their pain. I felt THAT was truly the "Darkest side of me", so Jenny's death naturally shifted down to right before that.
"Still rage inside" This was all the Phases scene until I saw "Sanctuary". Then I HAD to include Angel socking Buffy! It did wonders for the pacing!
1:40 "I can't control myself" The very first thing I dropped on the Timeline. Wanted to be sure I didn't use it anywhere else!:D
2:07-2:11 Took me forver to decide what kind of red to use! (Glow or gradient map, plus adjustments!)
2:30-2:32 I like this part too! I can't help but feel I didn't match it up just right, but everytime I tried to "Fix" it, it got worse and I pressed undo.
2:33-2:56 Awesome! That's your favorite part? Mine too! Production was delayed because I kept replaying it! Originally, this was to be a montage of black and white footage of Angel doing bad things, getting slightly redder with each clip until you reach the Faith/Angel part. Then I saw "Somnambulist". Threw the other idea right out! Yeah, The Door bust rules!:D
Yep! I held on to sword scenes until the end! (Otherwise I wouldn't have known what to do here!)
I thought it would take forever to find the manip of Buffy in the window and make it look like she was in L.A. Then I remembered she WAS in L.A. Went to "Anne" and found it right away! And I had to connect the "Batman drop" with the Alley walk.
Ah, the fade at 2:02. Well, I just didn't want to show Angel at her feet until after we see the tear, but I also wanted him dropping. I thought it looked okay, but yeah, it was a bit rough. Probably should have done a flash instead.
I don't know about hottest woman ever, but SMG is definitely high on the list! Very beautiful!
So, my best vid, huh? Great! That's pretty much what I was going for! Thanks for the awesome feedback, man!

Whoa. In Season 5, and very confused about Dawn. I assume it's like Superstar (Which I hated) but spread out over an arch. Oh, well, don't tell me, I'll get there! One of my fav quotes now: "Oh, I'm so pleased! Can I trade in the children for more money?" I love Anya!

Hey Travis thanks for the link to your new Angel vid.
Very awesome job on this one! The song was a really great choice for an Angel character vid, and you did an awesome job with the lyrical matches. Amazing editing too, it was very impressive how well you linked everything up with the beats of the song. I've never seen an Angel episode and only a couple of Buffy ones, so I'm not that aware of specific scenes, but I thought your scene selection overall was really well done. The individual scenes you chose were very cool and it was very awesome how you put them all together! Very amazing work on this vid!
Very cool opening to the vid and very clever way to start it off. It worked really well with the whole concept of the vid to show his re-transformation back into a vampire after his sex with Buffy (that's what happened right? that's one of the few things I vaguely know about from the show lol). Really cool how you kicked it off at 09 as the music picked up, I also liked how you cut back to Buffy's reaction shots, that worked very well to sell the idea. Very cool use of the red flash effect at 16 and 27 that was awesome and very effective in showing the concept of his return to evil! Amazing job on starting off the vid in a cool manner and expressing the theme of the vid in a very strong way.
53-111: Awesome stuff here too. The red flash at 53 was really well timed up, very cool stuff there and a great idea too! The darkest side of me was a cool scene/lyric match at 58 and cool use of the white flash during the buffy/angel fight scene. I really liked the scene at 106 that was very cool looking. And it was also a great idea to bring back the buffy/angel fighting after that, very nice timing on that part too. You did an awesome job throughout the vid with the timing/editing, especially since a lot of the scenes were action ones. Finally, the transformation scene at 112 was very cool looking, awesome idea to use that scene there!
139-205: Really impressive job on this section as well! The two scenes of buffy and angel were edited together very well, really cool stuff there as they flowed together great! The next scene where he bit buffy was a very cool scene/idea! And it matched the lyrics really nicely too. 151-205 was a very well done sequence of Buffy and Angel's post vampire encounters. Awesome job linking all of those scenes together to make that concept work in a very powerful way. The lyric match on the its not the real me at 157 where he turned back into his "human" form was my favorite lyric/scene match in this part, but all the other were really great choices too. Awesome stuff in this section of the vid!
228-247: This was another part of the vid I really liked a lot. Again great use of the red effect at 228 and the fight sequence after that was really well put together. The next section awesome! Very cool intercutting of the different scenes together and the use of the white flashes worked amazingly well, especially at 2:40 with the slight pause on the glowing white screen! Very awesome!! The quick scenes after that on the photos were really cool too. And very awesome use of the red screen again at 2:47!
309-the end: Very cool work on the run up to the end of the vid! Everything worked really well in this section. Again awesome job with the buffy/angel stuff at 300-313, really smooth editing and awesome timing on those scenes. The scene at 3:20 was a cool idea and fit really well with the idea of the song/vid. Very awesome editing on the sword fight sequence, loved the way you timed all that up! And the shot of buffy alone at the window followed by the scene of Angel looking down at her from the rooftop made for an awesome ending!
Really awesome vid man! Thanks again for the link to it.

Thanks for the kickass feedback, Keith! Glad you liked it even though you haven't seen much Angel/Buffy.
Glad you liked the opening! He doesn't really Re-transform into a vampire, he already was one. He just loses his soul again and Angelus is unleashed! Mwahahaha! (As you can tell, I really like Angelus! ) Thanks for commenting on Buffy's reaction shots! I thought they were very important to the overall story, since Evil Angel is basically an exaggerated "I slept with him, and he doesn't call anymore" story! It's great you like the various red stuff i used. I wanted it to symbolize death and (primarily) Bloodlust.
0:58 For not seeing much Buffy, I'm glad you liked this scene match! It's Angel's expression as he gleefully watches Buffy and Willow's grief as Giles calls to explain that Angel killed Jenny Calendar (at 0:53), his girlfriend and their computer teacher. To me, that is the most evil thing I've seen him do. It's like he feeds on their sadness and gives this huge grin. Definitely "The darkest side of me". The red flash at 0:53 is at the precise moment Angelus kills her!
The white flash during the Buffy/Angel scene at 1:00 was born out of convienence. The way it's edited for the show, it kinda looks like a leaked scene and it really bothered me. So I used the flash.
1:06. Ah, the double dust! One of my favorite Angel scenes! He stakes two vamps at once with retractable stakes!
1:51-2:05 "Awesome job linking all of those scenes together to make that concept work in a very powerful way." Wow, thanks man! It's always nice to hear that your scene selections are "powerful"!:D I was definitely going for a strong Angel-Buffy connection, so it's hear I did so!
Red at 228: My main scene to emphasize bloodlust! Soul or not, he still gets the thirst! Glad (I gotta find a new word) you liked.
2:28-2:47 Really happy you liked this, I think it's the best part. A lot of the white flashes were already there, but I did have to place it to the beat and shave a second here and there!
3:20 One of the last scenes I added to the vid, and a fav of mine. I watched the episode and ripped the DVD right away!
Thanks for the thumbs up on the sword fight! The whole fight is like 12 minutes long, so I had a lot to pick from and choreograph!
The last three shots, unbeknownst to you, are a manip! Buffy looking out the window, Angel doing the (I like to call it) Batman Drop, and Angel walking down the alley are three different scenes!
Thanks for the awesome feedback Keith! Made my day! (Which was really crappy!)

Hey Travis,
Got your link, thanks.
Sorry it took so long to get to you, I've been having computer problems, my wife is always on it..LOL So I had to open the tomb
and retrieve my ancient 2003 XP and jump start it with my battery cables.
Anyhoo, no problem with using that song, I don't own it, so I would be thrilled to see even more videos with that song, it is a lyrical Godsend. I could think of alot of TV and movie vids that could be used w/ this song. Great idea
for your vid using Buffy/Angel.
First of all I hadn't really watched the
Buffy series, but I have seen a little bit of the Angel spin-off. I like David Boreanaz and his new show "Bones".... A younger James Marsters is always fun to see to.
Ok, feedback.
I really enjoyed this vid, you did an excellent job on it.
I liked the opening, because i know the difficulty of filling in that long space before the lyrics start, good job. I like when Angel
pops out of bed at the guitar start and the lightning flashes with the rhythm.
Nice work at :23 when he attacks the chick in the alley and blows the smoke out fading to red. Sweet.
At :52 was a great match up for "I can't control myself". Nice work.
The double stake move was awesome at 1:06, I like action sequences like that, nice touch.
The rest of the vid was beautifully timed and edited and great scene selections for the lyrics.
Sorry I lack the knowledge of the show
to leave better feedback, but I liked it so much that I am now interested in going out a getting the series and giving it a shot.
Your an awesome vidder Travis and I can only see you getting better with each vid you make.
Keep making those SV videos to, even though V-Man said they were a thing of the past. Besides we still have 1 or 2 seasons left. I'm still semi-new so they are just the beginning for me.
V-Man you know you still love the SV videos..lol But I do agree with him about SMG, she is hot
Great Job Travis, keep it up.

Thanks Erin! I'm glad you like it so much, despite not seeing much Angel and no Buffy! Might give it a try, huh? Thanks! That's the ultimate compliment! It kinda happened to me! I watched a few of Ryan's Buffy vids and gave it a shot. I love it! I find the writing much better than Smallville!
I figured you wouldn't mind the song, but you never know. Nowadays people get upset over the littlest things, ya know?
Glad you liked the opening! I thought it was the best way to start the vid, since Angel loses his soul and becomes evil again after a moment of "perfect happiness" with Buffy! Glad you noticed that I timed the lightning on SMG to the beat!
Yeah, the double dust is AWESOME!
I don't mind that you didn't leave detailed feedback, just hearing that you might actually watch some episodes was such a compliment! Yeah, I'll still make SV vids! (They get A LOT more feedback. Wish I could've posted this in Fan vids, but it would've been moved. Still, more people would see it!)
Thanks again! Tell Nanette I said Hi!

EDITED to add my comment:
GREAT VIDEO
I really liked it, the fist part with the sexy scenes and then when the music changes and Angel feels the pain is so great.
The timing was perfect in all the video, and that effect with the red color....I just loved it.
The clips you put where my favorites, almost all of them , specially the part when Angelus bites the woman that is smoking and then how Angelus enjoys the smoke is a kodak moment, I swear I love it.
And at the end when the credits ended and Spike talks and makes fun of Angelus, OH GOD, I just adore Spike.
You did an awsome job.
I want to see more of your work.

And frickin hilarious! Want to see more of my Work? My Smallville threads are pretty backed up (page 3 and beyond), but I might start a "muffinpeddler vid" thread soon. Hi Travis,
Many thanks for sharing with us your new Angel video. That was great !! It's funny because it's the second time I watch a vid with this song in 2 days, and the third time in few weeks :D I agree with you, the song fits Angel very well :) I really loved your video and I think that was one of your best.
- 0'55 to 1'10 : wow ! That was great and the editing was awesome.
- 1'38 to 1'46 : Another amazing part which was fantastic
- 2'02 : I loved the scene right on the beat.
- 2'11 to 2'28 : I liked all the somebody help me part. Great lyrics matching :)
- 2'33 to 2'47 : Freaking awesome !! This part was very scaring :D Loved it !
- 3'12 to 3'22 : Great use of the red flashes.
- 3'23 to 3'33 : The editing of last battle was awesome !! Loved the beat at 3'31 :)

Thanks, Lara! Yeah, I'm a little surprised at how often we hear that song now, but as Erin said, it's a lyrical godsend!
0:55-1:10 I'm so glad you liked this part, because 0:51-0:59 is my 2nd favorite lyric match. I always felt the truly evil thing in Passion wasn't Jenny's death, but Angel's glee at their grief.
1:38-1:46 This one is my third favorite lyric match! (My first is "Darkest Side of Me" at 2:50) I'm happy everyone really likes it!
2:11-2:28 Awesome! I'm glad you liked this part! I was surprised at how well i got it to flow here.
2:33-2:47 Yeah! Glad you loved this! It's just so cool...I mean..uh...(Travis tries not to brag) So, you liked it?:D
Thanks for the great feedbacl Lara! I love when people leave the video times, because I get to look at that section!:D

Hey Travis!
As promised, a feedback from me FINALLY. Haha, really, I'm so sorry it took me this long to reply back.
This song is such a perfect song to use for both Angel/Angelus and his dark past, along with what he faces throughout the series. Amazing effects with the red tint! I loved those parts a lot, and your pacing of the video was excellent as well.
Awesome job on finding all the right scenes too, especially with mixing both series of Angel and Buffy.
Here are a few scenes that were my favorite:
-15-28: Loved how you started out with the first red tint once the music got louder. And the shot with the lady smoking and peeking out of the corner was really cool on how you edited it with the music. Then how you had Angel blowing out the smoke after biting the lady at 26, and highlighting it with red to match the lyrics. Amazing job there!
-45-54: Loved the chase between Angelus and Jenny, then the shot of him killing her with the red-ish glow to the beat.
-2:08: I really liked how you took the scene here and slowly faded it to red. Um, I'm not obsessed with red coloring, promise. LOL
-2:29-2:32: Ooh, I loved all the pretty flashes along with the music to the Buffy/Angel fight. Awesome.
-2:33-2:47: One of my favorite parts. Loved how once the music slowed down a bit, you showed Angel looking at all the picture of the deaths, and then him flashing back to all the people he's killed and the guilt he feels. Very cool.
-The ending was AWESOME. Loved the manip of Buffy looking out the window, and Angel leaping from the building. A perfect way to end the video!
Really fantastic job Travis! Those were only a few bits and pieces that I loved about the video, but really, I pretty much loved all of it. You did an awesome job on the choruses too. Thanks for the link, and sorry again that I took so long.
