I hope the Yankees win it all this year, but it's going to be interesting if we see a subway series. If the Mets were to win, I'll never hear the end of it from Mets fans and that would be sickening.

The Mets are a baseball team in the national league lol.
They had the best record of any team and are 1 game away from the World Series if they win tonight.I live in Mich and am a Tigers fan so even if the Mets make it to the Series they will lose lol.I do find it funny that the Mets-playing in a weak division-pretty much coasted to a title in the last 2 months-while the Tigers had to play hard right till the end,and now the Mets have a tough fight while the Tigers have a week off

so once the mets beat the tigers you can no longer think of the National league as a "weak" division.:p

Moreover, i dislike people saying "well they fought easy teams or you have an easy schedule." you face the teams that are ahead of you regardless of whether the division is good or not. It wasn't like the mets said, "hey, let us choose to be in the National League and not be in the American league.

Besides, the American league really cameback to the pack in the 2nd half of the season. Minnesota played badly down the stretch and they proved they weren't that great when they faced the As and the As was never great in the postseason. The white sox expected to be the greatest team in the American League didn't even make it to the playoff. The only difficult team was the yankees but even they had their problems in terms of starting pitching.

With that said, "LET'S GO METS!!"

Well if u read various newspapers or watch sports talk shows it was pretty well stated that the national league wasnt as good as the american. The american has dominated the Series and all-star games for awhile now.As I heard somone say on the 'Sprots Reporters' show recently-the Mets were the only nl team in the top 5 baseball teams.Yeh the Twins faltered some in the last week and got swept in the playoffs, but they had the best record of any team in the last 4 months. And the Sox and Yanks are loaded-which just shows how good the Tigers did.

With that said-'Go Tigers'

I didn't think the Tigers were good. As a Yankee fan, I thought that they would kill the Tigers but with a combination of great pitching by the Tigers and the fact that the Yankees just mailed in that series and couldn't even beat Kenny Rogers for crying out loud, the Tigers have now gained momentum and I cannot see the Mets or the Cardinals beating them, depending on how game 7 goes tonight. I would give the Mets a better shot against the Tigers than the Cardinals, but I still think that the Tiger pitching would neutralize an already spotty Met offense. Plus, and take this from a Yankee fan who lost a world series because Rivera threw a ball into centerfield in 2001 and blew a couple of games against the Red Sox in the ALCS of 2004, you are not going to win a world championship if you have a closer who is as bad as Wagner has been in the postseason. If the Mets make it through tonight, you better hope that he turns it around, and fast, because he will blow a couple of games against the Tigers with the way that he is pitching right now.

the yankees definitely werent beating the tigers, they're on fire the second half of the season. but i totally disagree with the other point. just because the whole rest of the NL east sucked doesnt mean the mets were the better of the sucky teams. the mets have an awesome team this year, and even though we might have a hard time with some AL teams, we dont SUCK compared to them. the world series is gonna be good.

but to the game...
DID U SEE THAT CATCH ENDY CHAVEZ MADE?? HOLY CRAP, HE JUST SAVED US AND PROBABLY OUR CHANCES TO THE WORLD SERIES. WOW. i cant believe we left those bases loaded though. we really need to score before they do b/c its starting to pour.
ugh.

LETS GO METS!!!

oh and i missed this before..
but what??? wagner has been doing GREAT in the postseason!!
i didnt think we would be doing this good with the lack of the bullpen.. but willie has been handling it sooo well. pitching john maine last night was a great decision. i honestly thought pitching perez tonight was a bad idea, but of course willie prevails once again. man of genius, i tell u.

well put...but let me remind everyone that although the american league is great that doesn't gurantee anything.

Examples: yanks vs. the diamondbacks...gonzo proved that a national league team belonged that year.

yanks vs. the marlins....josh becket proved that a national league team belonged that year as well.

So, just cuz the media portray the national league as weak doesn't mean in a short series the american league would win.

mets lost...:( :( :( ...i hate the cards. Go tigers beat the cards!!

got to agree with you about wagner...and i'm a hardcore mets fan. In big spots he has just given it up.

example: wagner vs. So Taguchi (4 for 4) 2 homeruns against him. However, not everyone is Mariano Rivera (greatest closer of all time). That at the time was the best closer on the free agent market, so we live and die with wagner. Unfortunately, this point is mute because the mets lost.:( :( :(

Also, great point about pitching. Every year in the postseason it's always about the solid pitching and timely hitting. Again, proving that just cuz you have All-stars at every position doesn't mean you are guranteed victory.

I think the mets are going ot be much better next year. Omar Minaya is a great GM and i got a feeling he would improve this team....First and for most, THE STARTING PITCHING.

Yeah, but let's face it, the Mets lost that game last night because of their offense. You guys got great starts from Maine and by Perez last night. For all of the concern with the pitching, outside of wagner in game 2, which is inexcusable for him to blow that game and give up three runs, the problem was timely hitting. Beltran has to swing the bat in the 9th and they can't send Cliff up there after they had first and second and no one out. You have to bunt in that situation. But again, clutch hitting was the problem and you can ask the yankees starting in 2004 how a lack of clutch hitting can kill your season.

Both the Yankees and the Mets need young starters for 2007. They will be in competition for Zito, I can tell you that, even though I do not want the Yankees to get Zito.

Pretty much everyone thought the Yankees would win-but as to 'couldnt even beat Kenny Rogers';

He has over 200 wins
He had a great record this year-1 of the best in MLB
He started the all-star game
He has 2 straight playoff shutouts

Even a reporter in the Daily News said -'y couldnt Randy Johnson be that good' lol

I wanted the Mets to win cause NY is such a big baseball market and interest would have been higher-plus it would have been nice to see the Tigers beat both the big NY teams

Rounders?I know thats an English thing lol-is it like a combo of Rugby and afternoon tea that u chaps like to have around 2 lol

Randy Johnson is shot. I want him out and AROD out. When the Yankees lost to the Tigers, I wanted to smash somebody's face in. Just terrible. Now I have a nice long winter of terrible Jets football to look forward to.

And for the Mets fans out there, I was watching Mike and the Maddog earlier and they played a clip of Jeff Weaver talking in the clubhouse celebration for the Cardinals and in the background, do you know what the whole team was chanting? They were chanting the Jose song that they had at Shea. If I were a met fan, I want to take out the Cardinals next year. I can't believe that they were mocking a Met chant during their celebration. You just can't make this stuff up.

UGHHH I CANT WAIT TO CRUSH THEM NEXT YEAR!!!! we lost that game b/c of offense, i agree. that one inning when we had the bases loaded w/ 1 out and we ended up not scoring at all, that was really bad. we needed at least that one insurance run. the offense needs to be worin over the off-season.

omg. chavez's catch was amazing. i'd hate to be in the spot to make a decision for next year's starting left fielder. that play skyrocketed endy's chances. floyd's gonna have to earn that spot back.

and i really hope omar finds new pitchers this season. after what happened this year, i think he should purposely get more pitchers than he needs.

overall, i think we had an awesome year. even though i was VERY depressed thursday night ( no , really, u have no idea.. i literally cried myself to sleep)... i was very proud of them. omar's gonna improve the team to make it better than it already is, willie's gonna keep managin the way he alwasy has, and we're gonna cum out strong and maybe go farther next year. i hope for the best.

Er, no... Rounders is a British sport where, to quote Wikipedia (which is accurate for once), "Game-play centres around innings where teams alternate at turns being batters and fielders. A maximum of nine players are allowed to play in fielding positions at one time. Points ("rounders") are scored by the batting team by completing a circuit around the field through four bases/posts without being put 'out' - for example, by a ball they batted being 'caught-out' or touching a tagged base/post."

Similar eh? The main playing difference is that once the ball is hit in Rounders in order to score you have to get effectively a home run - you don't score just by getting players home.

Rounders started in the 17th Century, Baseball started in the 18th. Not that I'd accuse anyone of ripping something off ;)

Apart from the "proper" teams, which aren't popular in terms of support, it's mostly played by Women and Kids at school - so is similar in popularity over here to what Soccer is in the US spookily.

heyy guys, new season !! so far the mets are 4-0 :D this is the year, last year was too close to let it go.
