Disuss the fourth movie in the Alien series, written by Joss Whedon.

200 years after her death, Ellen Ripley is revived as a powerful human/Alien hybrid clone who must continue her war against the Aliens.

I was terribly disappointed in Joss when I found out he'd written this movie. I'm a huge fan of the Alien series, and though 4 was at least entertaining, it was just rehash after rehash of stale old Alien story lines. What few parts of the movie WERE somewhat original were just not great.

I point out that the the only reason I'm disappointed in Joss over this movie is because of how unbelievably incredible the Buffy and Angel and Firefly series were. If his three TV shows weren't all in my Top 5 TV shows ever, I might not hold him to such a high standard. But he is amazing, and I do hold him to that standard. I retroactively expected more out of him than this movie provided.

 I'm in the very very small minority, I actually liked this movie. I thought Winona Ryder did an amazing job and / made the movie good. All the characters seemed idk, alot different then the other movies, and i liked that. lol, I actually liked this one better then the other Alien movies. Probably because I'm not a huge fan of older movies, and since Resurrection was the newest..., lol I also liked AVP :p

I think Joss did a great job, definitely not as good as Buffy, Angel or Firefly, but definitely a good job. He made me like the Alien Franchise ^_^

I also liked Alien: Resurrection. It's my second favorite of the movies. (Aliens is just a classic and cannot be beat.) While I don't consider it a masterpiece, I found it very entertaining.

I have some hate for the third film. I will never forgive it for having just about all the characters who managed to survive Aliens turn out to have died before the third even started. It felt like a rip-off. Like, "Well, damn, why did I spend all of Aliens pulling for these people to survive if you were just gonna kill 'em all offscreen?"

Plus it was just an unnecessarilly depressing flick.
