Rating: PG-13
Summary: I know it's much over-used, but I'm too lazy to think of my own ideas... Anyhow, Lana Lang left for Paris after Clark Kent left for Metropolis in Exodus and never came back. While in Paris she became a fashion designer and slowly worked her way up the corporate ladder until she became the best designer in the business. Almost everyone in the United States and France could recognize her for her great designs and exotic beauty. The only thing that stayed a mystery about her was her love life. Almost every man who met her asked her to a date. She would politely turn them down saying she had something else on her mind. No one could figure out what held her from dating. She could have any man on the planet, yet it seemed someone else always occupied her thoughts.
Lana was shuffling through fliers in her limo when the woman next to her started describing something about the Daily Planet wanting an interview with her while she was in Metropolis. She usually didn’t give interviews due to how tight her time in each city usually was, but her PR director told her it would be a good idea since this place is so close to her hometown. She tore her eyes away from the fliers for a second to tell her PR director that they might need to cancel the interview because her schedule was basically packed to the brim. “But Ms. Lang, two of the best reporters in the state of Kansas are part of this team. They could make a crazy old woman sound like a goddess in an interview. It’d be great for PR.” Lana lifted up an eyebrow when she looked over at her PR director. “Are you telling me I’m a crazy old woman?” Her PR director let out a nervous laugh. “No, no, of course not. I’m just saying they’re really good at what they do. Here, I printed out both their bios.” She hands two packets of information about the reporters. Lana skimmed through the first packet reading everything from Lois Lane’s relation to her father General Sam Lane to her current place of work. She threw the packet aside and looked down to see who the next boring ‘I’ll make you sound like a goddess’ reporter was. She coughed twice when she saw the picture and started beating herself with one fist until her coughing fit was over. She was completely flustered and she could feel her cheeks were bright red. She couldn’t look away from the picture. She didn’t believe it was possible to ever see that smile again. The PR director looked over at her and smiled. “He’s a handsome one, isn’t he Ms. Lang? That Clark Kent sure has some charm.”
Clark walked up to his cubicle for another day of sitting at his computer writing another Superman Saves The Day story. He always felt weird looking at himself from a reporter’s perspective. He just shrugged his shoulders and began typing when someone tapped his shoulder. He looked over and saw someone trying to read his story. “Mornin’ Smallville. Already started on another one of your boring tales about Supes?” Clark just looked up at Lois and gave her a sly grin. “Of course, what else would I do with my time outside of writing boring tales about Superman that turn up on the front page?” Lois was about to give him a smart remark back when she heard Perry White shout out Clark’s name to come to his office. “Same thing everyday Smallvile, Perry calls for ya ten minutes after you arrive to yell at you for something then congratulate himself on giving you a splendid idea on a story.” Clark just laughed and walked over into Perry’s office. After ten minutes Lois got tired of waiting for Clark to return. She sat down at his computer wondering what she was going to do to it when she saw his picture folder. She grinned and clicked on it. She was going to transfer all his Supes pictures to herself and delete them off his computer. She was about to go grab a disc when she saw a file marked ‘Lana Lang’ ‘God, another salivating male fan of Lana Lang. It seems every man on this planet has some freakin’ addiction to this girl. I might as well see what sort of pictures he has of her in his file.’ She double-clicked it and waited for it to load. She was surprised at what she saw. It was a picture of Lana when she was probably 16, long before she became famous for what she did in Paris. Lana was smiling as though nothing in the world could bother her and was waving at the camera. Lois was extremely curious of how Clark got these pictures and clicked to see the next one. Wow! Now she’s defiantly interested. It was a picture of what must have been Clark at 16 standing next to Lana waving at the camera. She quickly scrolled through the pictures and stopped on one in particular. She couldn’t believe what she saw. Smallville was sitting under a large oak tree with Lana Lang in his arms. They were both looking at each other as though nothing in the world mattered except for them. She scrolled to the next picture and it was of them kissing. ‘Smallville dated Lana Lang when he was a kid and never told anyone? Not only is he a total nerd but he dated Lana Lang! You’d think he’d be bragging to everyone in the entire country about how he once dated the infamous Lana Lang. She’s notorious to staying away from love. He must have had some charm back then, defiantly different from his bumbling self now.’ She saw the door to Perry’s office open and she quickly exited out of the program and stood up. Clark looked over at her with a puzzled look in his eye and walked over to his desk. “So, what exactly were you doing on my computer Miss Lane? Stealing more Superman pictures for your own lame stories?” She gave him a sheepish grin and was happier that he didn’t catch her then anything else. “You caught me Smallville, can’t keep my eye off Supes.” She saw him grin at that and thought he was smiling at his victory on that one, when he was actually grinning at her mentioning not being able to keep her eyes off of Superman. He was about to respond when the door to the newsroom flung open. A lot of people looked over to see who was the intruder and gasped at what they saw. Most of them just dropped their work and continued to stare. Lois noticed who it was too and immediately looked at Clark. She saw his eyes flinch from horror to despair. He quickly shuffled away from her muttering something about an important case and started to run out the door.
Lana was looking around the newsroom completely oblivious to all the stares. She was searching for one person in particular. How to God she hoped he was also transfixed and staring. She looked at the back of the room and saw him. She started to run toward him, “Clark! Wait, Clark. Please! Clark!” She stopped next to his desk when she saw him run out knowing she’d never be able to catch up. She slumped against his desk and started to cry. Everyone continued to stare confused as to what was happening. They had no clue why Lana Lang would just barge into the Daily Planet’s newsroom demanding for Clark Kent. One person did come over to her though. The girl shot out her hand and Lana shook it quietly while still laying against the desk feeling defeated. “Lois Lane, nice to meet you Ms. Lang.” Lana merely looked up and smiled before looking back down. “So you were looking for Smallville? What could a big girl like you want from a smalltown bumbling reporter like him?” Lana just looked up at her and replied meekly, “More then you’ll ever know.” Lois looked down at her concerned. “Well if it’s any consolation, he has some pictures on his computer that I’d like to show to you.” Lois sat down and scrolled through the picture dictionary till she got to the ‘Lana’ file and opened it up. Lana gasped along with half the room when she saw the picture of Clark and her sitting under their oak tree. She missed his warm embrace, his arms as they wrapped around her and kept her safe and away from the world. She couldn’t control her mouth; she could only hear it as she felt herself spill her guts to Lois Lane. She didn’t know who this person was, but she seemed like a friend of Clark’s and if she could get her closer to him, she would do whatever it took. The rest of the room pretended to continue working on their paperwork. Lois could tell they were listening in and wondered if Lana was either oblivious to it or didn’t care. She picked the former when the room oo’ed at the part about Clark giving the toast at Lex’s Wedding. Lana stopped talking after she told the part about Clark getting on the motorcycle and riding to Metropolis never to come back. Lois had a million thoughts going through her head at one time and didn’t respond immediately. ‘Ok, Smallville dated Lana Lang, he was best friends with Lex Luthor, and he ran away from home and from the woman he claimed he loved. No wonder he’s such a bumbling idiot now. If he had any more excitement in his life he would crash and burn. That guy’s life was more action packed then a Hollywood movie, and that was all before he was old enough to even smoke.’ She looked down and saw that Lana’s tears have dried and was sitting still staring off into space. Lois looked down at her and had a sympathetic look in her eyes. “Lana honey, would you like to come stay with me while you’re in Metropolis? I’m sure we could figure out some way to get Clark to meet up with you and see the woman he’s been missing out on all these years.” Lana looked up at her and smiled once before turning her stare back at the wall. Lois gritted her teeth and thought to herself, ‘That’s exactly what I’m going do, I’m going to show Smallville the mistake he made by leaving his home and her behind.’
