Title: The Manipulator
Rated: Pg-13
Disclaimer: I don't own anything Smallville or Superman or anything remotely related. This is for a fun only.
Summary: Takes place immediately after Void. As Clark leaves. Thanks for treker for showing me this fanfiction forum.....and if sounds familiar ...I posted on another board but it is my work.
Part 1
Lana smiled smugly as Clark left the dorm room. “ I will be happy, Clark Kent.”
Lana went to her desk and pulled open the top drawer. She pulled out all the information she had gathered on her own about the meteor shower and the black ship. Lana sat down a the desk studying the charts and diagrams. She sighed exasperated. She had hit a stopping point. Lana needed more information. She knew exactly where to get it.
Lana picked up her cell phone. “Lex, how are you? I just wanted to come by. I really want to apologize for taking your Porsche. I don’t know what came over me.”
“It is fine, Lana. As I said, we all act out of character sometimes. I have myself. When would you like to come over?” Lana could hear the excitement in his voice.
“How about a date tomorrow after noon? I have morning classes.” Lana grinned as she looked at the chart. She thought of Clark.
“Sounds great. Bye, Lana.” Lex stated arrogantly.
Lana hung up the phone and smiled. Sometimes being a female had its advantages. Especially, a female that men usually saw as the weak damsel. Lana would take advantage of that. This was a dangerous game. Lana was not that naïve to think it wasn’t. However, to her it was a game worth playing if it got the results she wanted.
Lana put the information away. Then headed to the shower. She missed Clark’s touches. Why did she always think of things like that when she was in the shower? Perhaps, it was one of her many secret fantasies when it came to Clark Kent.
“He doesn’t love you any more.” Lana murmured to herself. “Yeah right.” She stated sarcastically. “Hide your feelings with false words, Clark. I can tell when you’re lying to me.”
Lana slid down against the tile wall as the spray of the water hit her face. She placed her head in her hands as tears mingled with the streams of water. “I love him so much.” Lana sobbed causing her shoulders to shake violently. “He loves me too. I know he does.”
Lana cried until the water became cold and her skin shriveled from the moisture. She stepped from the shower. Pulling a towel around her, Lana walked out into the dorm room.
“Hi.” Chloe was sitting on the bed. “Long shower.”
“I guess I wanted to clear the past few days from my head.” Lana confessed as she pulled on her cotton pajama outfit. “Chloe, I’m sorry about the past few days.”
“I know. I just wish you would come to me more.” Chloe leaned back against the wall behind her bed.
“It is difficult to talk about Clark when you two are such good friends. I love him so much.” Lana admitted.
Chloe couldn’t help but to remember Clark stating the same words about Lana. The two were so in love. Life was cruel to play this game with them. Chloe understood them both. She knew enough to understand. Too bad, Lana didn’t.
“I don’t understand Clark completely myself, Lana. I wish I could help.” Chloe leaned down . She rolled until her head was buried in her pillow. The secret about Clark could fix all of this. However, it wasn’t her choice to make.
Lana curled into a tight ball. She clasped her hands around her knees and slowly rocked her body to sleep. Chloe watched her from the corner of her eye. She wandered what Clark was doing now. Was he as miserable as Lana? Was it bad that she hoped he was?
Chloe’s thoughts were interrupted by the moving of her cell phone on the desk. She grabbed it quickly.
“Hello.” Chloe whispered so not to disturb Lana’ sleep.
“I can’t sleep. Is she okay?” Clark’s voice was quivering.
“She’s fine. Clark, are you…” Chloe hesitated. She didn’t want to embarrass him. She wanted to know. “crying?”
Clark sniffed. But he didn’t answer Chloe’s question. “I know she will be happier without me. Lana will find someone to give her a normal life. A life like we had over the summer. She can be made love to…have kids with..I can’t be that for her.”
“Are you trying to convince me or you?” Chloe muttered.
“I love her so much. I just want her to be happy. She deserves to be happy.” Clark wiped his face from the onslaught of tears.
Chloe’s heart broke. She could actually hear him crying now. What was it about a grown man crying that was so unbearable? “Clark, I can’t tell you what to do. I just think you are making a mistake. Don’t you ever want to be happy?”
“Yes. But not at Lana’s expense.” Clark leaned against the couch arm. “Mom said maybe I don’t think she is the one. If she isn’t the one…no one is. I honestly believe no one is. I will never love like I do her. NEVER.”
“I know you won’t, Clark. Try to sleep. She is sleeping without crying first. If that helps.” Chloe wasn’t prepared for hearing Clark cry tonight. She had hoped for his misery. Now she would do anything to take it away from him.
“Can you do me a favor, Chloe?” Clark gulped back more tears.
“What?” Chloe sighed.
“Can you make sure she is sleeping….then tell her I love her?” Clark swallowed hard.
“Yeah. I will.”Chloe hung up the phone. She walked to Lana’s bed.
“Lana?…Lana?” No answer. “Clark said he loves you.” Chloe whispered. She then crawled back to bed.
Lana smiled. She told herself.. “I know.”
Lana thought of the charts.. She thought of using Lex to get the information she needed. She thought about Clark Kent. That was what she always thought of when looking at the charts. She had her suspicions but she needed proof before confronting Clark. When Lana had what she needed…Clark could not deny the truth to her anymore.
Part 2
When it came down to it, no one really knew Lana Lang. No one. Not her Aunt Nell, not her friend Chloe Sullivan, not the infatuated Lex Luthor. No one....not even her once lover, Clark Kent.
They all had her packaged in a box wrapped in pink ribbon and lace. Much like a porcelain doll that is put on display while the rag dolls get the attention of play. Lana was set up to be admired, protected, and cherished as in a box...kept put away from the world. She hated that persona...especially coming from Clark.
He always involved Chloe and even Lois in the investigative~ save the world complex of his. Lana was not to be involved...it was too dangerous.
Lana chuckled to herself about the irony of it all. It really was comical that with all of Clark's protection...she had been in danger more than all of the others at times.
She had lead the big bad aliens to the Luthor mansion. She was the one chosen to do this by whatever possessed Lionel Luthor at the time. Clark and the others didn't get that.
This being inside of Lionel chose Lana to do the most dangerous of things at the time.....to save earth from these violent aliens. The same aliens that Lana had witnessed kill so many humans...the same aliens that didn't care to even kill her. This alien being knew Lana could handle putting her fear away and risking her life for humanity. Whoever or whatever this being was..it had entrusted Lana Lang....she was not a pretty package to be put away in a box.
Lana fidgeted uneasy with her blouse. She looked nice but not to inviting. She didn't want Lex Luthor realizing the game too soon in the first inning. He was to meet her at the fancy restaurant.
Lana glanced around. She smirked at how predictable Lex Luthor was. Fancy decor with a dark candle lit room...a piano player playing softly...romantic and mysterious...Phftt. Romantic..no not to Lana but she could see this was Lex's idea of romance. Hers was horseback riding with Clark. Stopping at a picnic under the oak tree..making out until they both shivered with the cold night winds or the lust they had for one another. That was Lana's romance..simplicity.
"Lana" Lex greeted her with a smile then kissed her hand gently. "I see you're looking lovely as usual."
Lana batted her lashes a little flirty but not too flirty. Lex had to feel like he was the one in charge or her game would be up. Lex had shared so much...using Lana's hunger for honesty as his hook. Lana pretended to take the bait..hook, line, and sinker. She knew better. Lex always had hidden agendas. Even if that hidden agenda was to own her...possess what Clark could not keep. Lana wanted to laugh at the pathetic little bald man. Lex Luthor, the billionaire, jealous of a Kansas farm boy.
"I was afraid you would be angry with me." Lana clicked her tongue on the roof of her mouth. "I was worried I had jeopardized a truly great friendship...for a fix."
"No." Lex placed his hand on Lana's. She pulled back a little..pretending to be afraid of contact. That would show her vunerable side..she had to play this right.
Some how, Lana knew Clark's life depended on that. How she knew this? Lana herself was clueless. But it was similar to the feeling she had when she placed the stone in Clark's hand. Some how she knew it was meant for Clark. Clark took it without question.
This only proved that Clark thought Lana was naive. He never second guessed her. He and she never spoke again about it. It happened. Clark ignored the fact that Lana would know it was strange. Lana had so many answers to the questions in her head of mysteries surrounding Clark Kent. However, the answers were merely hypothesis. IT was time to find out if the answers could be proven.
"So, Lana, did classes go well today?" Lex spread his napkin on his lap.
Lana smiled. He wants to make small talk so be it. It will only prolong the inevitable but at least she got a free expensive meal.
"They were great." Lana sipped at her wine. Then she licked her lips teasingly. She noticed Lex's eyebrows shoot up. She pretended to be so innocent. "This is really good." Lana pretended to sadden. "Clark...he couldn't afford to take me out much. Time and money was hard to come by."
"You deserve to be treated like a princess." Lex patted his own back with his words. Lana wanted to slap him.
"Thank you. I admit. It feels nice to be out ...not thinking about him for a while." Lana grinned.
How strange those words sounded? Not thinking of Clark Kent....that was impossible. Lana knew this.
A/N first time posting here so I hope I'm doing this right. Feedback fuels the writing juices. This fic is complete but wanted to try on a new audience....

________________Part 3______________
LANA! LANA!" Martha heard the chilling scream come from Clark's room. It had been this way since the erased day. She used to go to him. However, he begged her not to.
Martha rolled over pulling her pillow tightly to her body. She knew the routine. Clark was reliving that day again. He seemed to relive it every night. A day only he experienced...erased to the rest of the world.
Martha had heard a mother talking about her fourteen year old boy breaking up with his girlfriend. It seemed tragic to him. The mother's words resounded in Martha's head.
"When your child's heart breaks..your heart breaks with theirs."
Martha understood those words too intimately. She felt the wetness of her tears dropping on the pillow as she allowed her thoughts to play out exactly what her son was doing at that moment.
Clark would be waking up with a cold sweat. He would immediately head to the bathroom. Just as Martha thought ...the water from the bathroom faucet turned on. Clark would wash his face from the stains of tears. Then he would scrub his hands desperately trying to get the non existent blood from them. Then Clark would head back to bed and lay with eyes wide open...not wanting to sleep or relive that day.
Martha heard his door close. She wanted to go to him. She knew that if she did, Clark would hide in his shell. Pretending all was well.
Martha had asked him if he didn't tell Lana because he didn't think she was the one. It may have seemed cruel at the time. However, as a mother, that is what Martha wanted to hear...that it was for that reason. Not for the reason of her son deciding to remain alone forever. That she feared the most...Clark being alone.
Martha remembered talking to Jonathan when she had first witnessed Clark being in the middle of rescuing Whitney Fordman. It frightened her seeing her son survive that...and relieved her just as much. But it caused her to question one thing...would Clark ever be able to be with a woman?
Therefore, when Clark and Lana snuck downstairs to only be caught by an angry Jonathan and a shocked mother....Martha was also happy. Clark had experienced something so special and so human. For one brief Summer. Her child was happy. Only to once again have it snatched away from him.
Martha thought it ironic that Clark had to reverse one of the worst events in his life....but at the same time reverse one of the happiest events. Martha wished she could share half the memory with him. Once in a while, she would see Clark smile to only have it fade into a sad frown. Martha knew that he remembered the proposal, the secret reveal..and yes, unfortunately his most vivid memory was Lana's death...with the blood on his hands.
Martha glanced at Jonathan's photo on her night stand. He was such a handsome man. She ran her finger across the photo. How she missed his strong calloused hands touching her delicate skin. She could only imagine what an eighteen year old boy was feeling. Experiencing lovemaking once to only fear it enough to deny experiencing it again.
Martha closed her eyes tightly. Clark..her Clark....how much more can one boy endure...He was a man now....but since being a boy, Clark had to face too much too soon in his life. He saved the love of his life only to have his father's life snatched away. Martha could only imagine that her son felt doomed to live a life of heartache. It seemed that is all he had been dealt. No wonders a man would choose to give up his love...he didn't want Lana doomed as well.
Martha rolled restlessly when she heard the bearly audible sobbing coming from her grown son's room. She thought of the look of hurt on his face at seeing Lionel pick her up for the Governor's dinner. Martha had gazed in the mirror that day. She had wondered if she had dressed too sexy. She was still young enough to want attention. However, she only longed for Jonathan Kent to be the one to touch her porcelain skin.
Jonathan's death did bring a realization to Martha. She had no adult friends of her own. She had lived all these years content at being Jonathan Kent's wife. She was no longer Martha Clark...and now with her husband's death...it seemed in the frequented circles..she was no longer Martha Kent. She was now the pitied widow of Jonathan. Martha did not want that pity. She was stronger than that.
Lionel was there to talk to. He didn't pity her. He made her feel like a person...not an extension of Jonathan. Guilt about that gnawed at Martha's gut. Jonathan would hate her being around Lionel. However, Martha longed to feel human again...funny...human...what a strange thing to think about considering her son never felt that way...but one short Summer.
Martha crept from her bed. She walked slowly down the hall. Martha touched the door knob to Clark's room. She walked in to see her son's shoulders shaking with sobs.
"Clark...Clark." Martha whispered.
Clark rolled over as he wiped his eyes. "Yeah."
"I need you." Martha sat on the edge of the bed and enfolded her arms around her grown son. She could feel him relax in her embrace.
She cried. He cried. If she had to manipulate him into thinking she was the one that needed the feeling of the embrace..then so be it. She would comfort her son without him having to feel weak.

Hey Rat...nice to see you here. I like the way you're writing this fic.
It's about time someone wrote Lana as a strong willed and independent woman. Someone to be respected and treated as an equal. Her going after Lex to find proof about clark is a masterfull stroke.
Martha's isolation is heartbreaking. and so is Clark's nightmare's regarding Lana's death.
I'm hooked. I will deffinetly be looking for your future updates. Thank you for posting.

Thanks for the wonderful feedback!
------Part 4--------
Lana walked into the dorm room and tossed her keys on the desk. She sighed. Round one…. OVER. She slumped into the desk chair and pulled her hair loose from its clips. Glancing into the mirror, Lana sighed. Closing her eyes, she thought of kissing Clark. It had been a while since she tasted his lips. Tonight, she kissed Lex. She forced herself to kiss him with passion. The game had officially begun.
Lana leaned down and laid her head on the desk top. She felt tears trickle onto the wood of the desk. Kissing Lex only made her miss Clark’s lips more. Lana wiped her tears then pulled out the documents Lex gave her. He had obtained them illegally. Did Lex Luthor actually think Lana Lang would approve of such actions? Yes. Of course, he did. That was Lex Luthor for you. Thinking any actions justified the means..That however was not Lana Lang.
Lana glanced at the information. Something was off. What was it? Professor Milton Fine…hmmmm. …Why in the world would he suddenly have interest in Lex Luthor after he had investigated him? Clark had talked to her about Prof. Fine’s suspicion of Luthor Corp’s illegal activities. Why suddenly would the same professor want Lex as his ally?
Lana kicked her boots off then headed towards the bathroom to undress for the night. She walked into the bathroom and peered into the mirror. Lex was so easily duped. Did he even notice her hair was fixed similar to Helen Bryce’s style? A little addition to the game play…..just for a little extra fun.
Lana thought about Chloe’s words… “Lex can be a predator.”
Chloe Sullivan….sure she was trying to be a friend. However, once again Chloe was treating her like a breakable doll.
Lana leaned over the sink and stuck out her tongue. Gross at least Lex didn’t put his tongue down her throat. Her gag reflex would have been working over time.
Lana started the shower. Perhaps, she could wash away the guilt she was feeling. Why should she feel guilt? Clark gave her up. She didn’t belong to him any more. At least, not right now. However, Lana planned on that changing once she got all she needed from Lex Luthor.
Lana soaped up her body and allowed the suds to run down her . “ I miss you, Clark.”
Lana wrapped her towel around her and walked back into the bedroom. Chloe sat at her desk typing on her lap top.
“Are you mad?” Chloe looked up.
“No. However, you still need to butt out of my business. I am not a little girl. I can do as I want.” Lana began to brush her hair.
“I just wanted to warn you. So consider yourself warned. He isn’t the good guy he is pretending to be.” Chloe glanced for Lana’s reaction.
“Like I said. I’m a big girl. I can handle Lex. If I can be put through what Clark has put me through….I can handle almost anything.” Lana sighed.
“I just want to be a friend.” Chloe defended herself.
“I know. Did you see Clark today?” Lana couldn’t help but ask. Please let the answer be ‘yes’.
“Like I told him….to call you if he wants information. I’m not going to get pulled in the middle.” Chloe closed her lap top.
“So he did ask about me.” Lana smirked.
“No fair.” Chloe threw a pillow at Lana. “You don’t play fair.”
“That is the plan.” Lana pulled back the covers and crawled into her bed.
“What was you saying?” Chloe questioned.
“Nothing.” Lana grinned. “Nothing at all.”
Part 5
The rain beat on the window harshly. The thunder clapped loudly as the lightening streaked the darkened sky. Clark ran his finger in the same pattern that the rain was making on the window. He sighed as he leaned his head against the cold glass.
“Clark, I’m heading to Topeka.” Martha walked in to the kitchen. She ran her hand along Clark’s soaked locks of hair. “You went slow today with chores. Well…slower.” She chuckled.
“Yeah. A little slower than usual.” Clark still leaned against the cold glass.
“What is wrong, son?” Martha swallowed hard.
Saying the word ‘son’ only reminded her of Jonathan’s soothing voice. Martha knew what was wrong….Lana. However, she also knew this was Clark’s own doing. For her son to be of such high intelligence, he had no common sense.
“I hate storms.” Clark lied. He pulled his head away from the window.
“No, you don’t. You hate the loneliness that stormy days seem to bring.” Martha knew the feeling…lonely. She never realized how much of her life was being with Jonathan Kent. Isn't that how it goes...you never know until that person is gone the exact amount of your life that was wrapped up in theirs.
They had their moments apart. But she always knew that when she returned home from the Talon, he’d be there.
Martha glanced at her son. Clark stood against the facing of the door now holding a cup of coffee. His eyes were clenched shut. Martha could tell he desperately wanted to shut out the world around him. Was it wrong as a mother that she wanted to go to Lana and tell her everything? It wasn’t her place. But was it wrong to want that? To want to see a smile come on his face? A smile like he smiled with Maddie, the little girl. Clark did that….smiled…when he helped others.
Martha loved his smile..it was very rare. The smile graced her son’s lips when he was a young child constantly. Once he hit puberty and Jonathan had to reveal Clark’s origins, the smile faded to almost nonexistent. That was except the moments with Lana…she always brought a smile. However, she also brought an intense sadness to Clark’s face.
Lana was to Clark a forever reminder that he was not human. Lana represented every desire Clark Kent had. Being human was the most intricate yearning that he had.
Martha picked up her purse placing its strap on her shoulder. “Do you need anything before I go?”
A life…Lana Lang….to make love to the woman I love…to be human.
“No, I’m fine.” Clark hugged his mother and kissed her forehead.
“Get some dry clothes on before you get sick.” Martha stated without thinking. She always did that…treated him normal.
Put your gloves on son…let me put extra sun screen on you, it is hot today….don’t go in swimming right after you eat….use an umbrella, you may catch a cold.
Martha blinked. It was time to go to work..to delve into to something besides her loneliness.
Clark watched his mother drive away. He allowed a tear to fall down his cheek. Clark turned and sat at the table. Without thinking, he sat in his father’s chair. He started to get up but he stayed.
“I miss you, Dad.” Clark whispered.
Clark wondered if he broke up with Lana in such a harsh way because of his dad. He wondered if it was the fact that saving Lana…bringing his father’s death, made him want to rid Lana of his life forever. Therefore, the guilt of his decision wasn’t forever present. Clark placed his head down on his folded arms. If he could get a headache, he was sure he would have one now.
I can’t help loving her.
Clark thought about that. Should he feel guilty for loving her? He didn’t know if he should or not. The fact was that he did feel guilty. The fact was that he loved her. That was a fact since he was five. Five? How can someone love someone at such an early age? Clark shook his head back and forth on his arms…Just another thing about him that was not normal.
Clark never picked up his head. He just lay there listening to the sound of the rolling thunder and the beating rain. He didn’t know how long but he lay with his head still. What was there to want to move for anyway? NOTHING.
“Clark.” Clark heard her voice. He felt her hand on his shoulder. He must have fallen asleep. That is the only time Lana’s seducing voice blessed his ear.
“Clark…Are you okay?” Lana brushed his shoulder.
“What? Lana.” Lana loved the way her name rolled off his lips. She felt like Clark was relishing the sound of her name.
“I..I just brought some of your things over.” Lana stepped back. She shouldn’t touch him. It hurt too much.
“Oh. I didn’t think about doing that. You have a lot of things here too. I didn't get them together yet.” Clark glanced at the small plastic box Lana was holding…or clutching. She seemed to be clutching it.
“You can get them later.” Lana refused to cry. She had to make this break…until she could fix them permanently.
“Okay.” Clark took the box from her. He placed it on the table. “I didn’t realize I had this much stuff with you.”
Lana sat down. “You stayed a lot at the Talon over the Summer. When I packed, I just took the things to the dorm. I guess I assumed you’d stay there a lot as well.” Lana swallowed hard.
Silence hung thickly in the air. Clark stood up and pulled various items from the box. Shirts, a toothbrush, cologne, a few books….and his blue flannel shirt. Clark held it up and stared. Lana looked so cute that day escaping his dad’s glare in this shirt.
Lana didn’t want to pack that shirt. She wanted to keep it. However, she wanted to illicit a memory from Clark. From the look on his face, it was working.
Lana watched as Clark just stared at it. His eyes were becoming watery. Lana wanted to grab him. To embrace him..to tell him to quit hiding…to throw away the façade …admit he loved her…still…and forever.
“I…I don’t want this.” Clark gulped.
He didn’t mean to say it out loud. He just couldn’t take the feeling of never having Lana’s body against his again. The shirt was too much a reminder of their first time…the touch of her fingers sliding this shirt from his shoulders. The beauty of her tanned legs peeking beneath the shirt after as she made breakfast the next day.
Then it seemed to be her choice of attire after they made love...that blissful short lived Summer. Clark sighed at the last moment of seeing her in the shirt. Lana sneaking down the steps in it after a long night of lovemaking in his bedroom.
“Oh. I can..ummmm.” Lana didn’t know what to say. She hadn’t thought that through. She didn’t think Clark would admit that he didn’t want the shirt. That it held too many memories.
“I can throw it away.” Clark wadded it up and sat it aside.
“NO!” Lana said almost too forceful. “I mean…I can use it to paint in. Painting smocks are too uncomfortable.” She knew Clark didn’t buy that. However, she also knew that shirt held too much for her.
Clark handed her the shirt. Their hands touched. Tingles danced up both their arms. For one excruciating moment…they stared into each other’s eyes. Holding the stare, they both knew. They both denied.
LOVE..would always remain. However, they also knew sometimes, love was not enough.

A/N-My internet has been acting up lately...so I am updating more than I usually would..usually once a day is it..but I'm going for twice a day. I hope that isn't too much for the readers....
Part 6 A little bit lighter...don't need to much angst..SV gives us enough already.
Lana busied herself getting ready. He was due over and she needed to set him up for her plans.
She pulled her hair back into a clip allowing tendrils of curls to fall over her shoulders. She unbuttoned a few buttons on her shirt with a smile. Bare flesh is always a good idea when playing games of the female/male persuasion. Lana could always wrap men around her little finger. She never used that. However, now was not the time to be all feminist. Now was the time to use her feminine wiles on him.
Everyone felt she was in danger…too weak…too naïve…too breakable. She would not live by that dictated rule any longer. She had too much to lose if she remained in the background looking pretty. What would she lose? Clark Kent. Had she already lost him? Yes. But that was temporary.
Today was only one day. The seducing of him would begin. Lana was unsure if she could take the teasing herself. But it would have to work. She had been passive too long.
A knock on the door jolted Lana from her thoughts. She grabbed a bottle of perfume and spritzed her neck. She took a quick glance in the mirror before heading to the door. She swallowed hard and opened the door.
“Lana.” Clark’s voice cracked. There she stood in nothing but his returned blue flannel shirt.
“Oh! I thought you were Chloe.” Lana feigned surprise. “I…uuuuum come in, Clark.” Lana tried to sound cold and angry. Should she say Chloe forgot her keys? No. Just let it go. Clark wouldn't think about it. He was too busy staring to notice her words.
“I can come back. I just…well, I got a call from Chloe’s cell phone but she didn’t answer. I was…” Gulp. “worried.” Clark’s voice cracked even more when Lana purposely bent over her bed to retrieve a fallen book.
Clark had no idea that she knocked it over on purpose. Clark did have an idea that nothing seemed to be under that shirt. Do aliens sweat? The answer was an unsettling yes. Unsettling for Clark Kent that was.
“You don’t have to leave. I just plan on studying. Chloe should be home soon if she called.” Lana knew she didn’t call. Lana actually had borrowed…unknown to Chloe…Chloe’s cell phone. She dialed Clark and hung up quickly. “I think she had another call from the Daily Planet. You know her….journalism first.”
“Oh. Okay.” Clark sat down. He leaned against the wall with Chloe’s desk chair.
Lana put her head phones on and sat on her bed. She opened her book to pretend to study. She even took notes. She decided to lay on her stomach for better effect. She didn’t really have music on….so she could hear his gulp. Yes, he noticed her obvious cleavage. Praise the Lord for push up bras. Giving great cleavage to even the most cleavage challenged. Not that this was a problem for Lana. She was perfectly proportioned…but even perfection could use a little perks.
Lana clicked her pen a few times to make Clark look up from his intriguing view. She then placed the pen in her mouth. Did she look quizzical? That was her plan. She then bit the tip of the pen with a little suck for emphasis to her pouty lips.
Clark positioned himself in the chair. This was not a good idea. Where was Chloe? Clark swallowed hard when Lana stretched forward. Revealing more of her thigh. She then scratched at her thigh. Bringing her hand back to her book to turn the page, Lana wiggled her butt to the non existent music.
Clark tried to get up but only plopped hard to the floor. “I..I need to go.” He stammered.
“Are you okay?” Lana forced herself not to laugh. He did look awfully dorky with his 6 ft. 3 in. frame sprawled out on the floor. This was working better than Lana had even dreamed.
Lana took off her head phones. She stood and walked over to him. She pretended to help him up but only fell into his lap. YES! She could feel how good this was working…literally. Clark tried to adjust Lana so he could help her up. This only added friction to their bodies. He scraped her unwillingly across himself. A groan escaped his mouth. He found himself squeezing the skin on her waist. He wanted so bad to taste her lips.
Lana wanted the same but it would ruin her plans. A quick flood of emotions would not do. She had to have him…all of him. Therefore, she pushed herself off him purposely touching him intimately. She then slid off him completely revealing a lot of skin on her part.
Clark wanted to bolt out of there. He had to get away from her. Even when he refused Lana when they were dating, they had never been put in such a compromising position. Clark realized right then that if they had been, he was not sure he could have refused her.
Lana’s cell phone began to ring. She sauntered over to the phone. She rubbed her behind as if it was hurting. She wondered if Clark even realized she didn’t even fall on her butt. Nah. It was Clark after all….so easily duped by her. Just as she was easily duped by him. NO more.
“Hello, Lex.” Lana allowed his name to roll off her lips. She glanced at Clark through the corner of her eyes. Jealousy was an understatement of what she saw in those green orbs of Clark’s.
“Yes. I’d love to go to dinner. See you at 5 …bye.” Lana hung up. She crossed her legs back on the bed.
“Lana. Are you seeing Lex?” Clark asked as he stood to his feet.
“We have a date to talk about the ship? Not that is any of your business.” She added quickly and coldly. It was pretend again. She didn’t want it to be anything but his business.
“Just be careful. Lex is not the good guy we thought he was. He can’t be trusted.” Clark sat down beside her. “I don’t want you to be hurt.”
“Too late, Clark. You already did that.” Lana didn’t mean to sound malicious. But Clark’s words stung her.
“I want you to be happy.” Clark reached to touch her face. But withdrew quickly.
Lana grabbed his hand and placed it against her cheek. “ I will be.” She whispered. His touch…she needed his touch.
“Lana, I..I lo…” Just as Clark almost said the words, Chloe opened the door ranting.
“Why would someone call me to go the Daily Planet…? My editor thinks I’m crazy. I can’t believe this..it is ridiculous. Now…” Chloe looked up. She noticed Clark’s hand on Lana’s thigh and his other on her face. “Clark..I…”
Clark jerked away his hands quickly. “I really need to go. Farm to run and all.”
Lana smiled. Clark gulped. Chloe rolled her eyes.
Clark left. “So what was that?” Chloe asked.
“Nothing. Just Clark being Clark.” Lana smiled as she got out of the bed and pulled on a pair of cotton shorts.
“I see that. What I was wondering is…who are you and where is Lana Lang?” Chloe giggled.
“I am Lana Lang. I just am tired of Clark Kent calling the shots.” Lana admitted.
“What about Lex?”
“He has his benefits.” Lana raised an eyebrow as she looked at Chloe.
“OH! Lana Lang. Be careful Lex is ..”
“I know what Lex is, Chloe.” Lana rolled to her side. “I know exactly what Lex is.”
“Oookay.” Chloe smirked. “Why was Clark here?”
“You called him. Right before you got called to the Daily Planet.”
“Oh really. I did?” Chloe laughed.
“Of course, you did. Why would I call? I am angry and hurt with him right now.” Lana chortled then placed her earphones back on her head.

A very different Lana, but I like it! :)
Poor Clark stands no chance against your Lana, and I like that, too.
Chloe does seem to have caught on, but I guess sisterly loyalty is going to overcome any thoughts she might have had to warn the poor lamb being led to slaughter...

Part 7
Lana tapped the computer keys. "Hmmm. Chess...I am desperately googling chess."
"What?" Chloe walked from the bathroom with a towel around her head.
"Nothing." Lana ran her fingers through her hair. It was important to show interest in Lex's interests. She would much rather show Clark her interests...Naughty girl.
"New hobby?" Chloe peeked over Lana's shoulder.
"Just trying to get a heads up on the game." Lana clicked the little pawn and made her move.
"Are you actually playing?" Chloe flopped on the bed.
"Sort of. It is a tutorial where you make moves...it tells your mistakes." Lana clicked off the site and leaned back in her chair.
"So how is baldy?" Chloe picked up a bottle of nail polish reaching it towards Lana. "Paint my nails..I want my toes painted too."
Lana reached for the bottle of nail polish and began to paint Chloe's toenails. "So why are you getting manicured and pedicured?"
"DATE." Chloe said excitedly.
"Really? Who?" Lana grinned as she continued to paint Chloe's toenails.
"Clark." Chloe teased.
"What? I mean..uuuh." Lana stopped painting as she contemplated of tearing off Chloe's toenails rather than painting them.
"I'm kidding. Calm down. He's a new intern from the Daily Planet. I agreed to show him around Metropolis...well Metropolis's dining and movie places." Chloe winked.
"No...I mean." Lana didn't know what she meant.
"No way am I going to compete with Clark's infatuation with you to ever dare to try a date with him again." Chloe said as she leaned back. Then she noticed her slip of tongue and furrowed her eyebrows.
"It is okay, Chloe. I know he still loves me. Now if I can get the doofus to admit it, I'm half way there." Lana began to paint Chloe's other set of toenails.
"Lana, what is the deal with Lex?" Chloe bit her lip. "I mean...there is something there?"
"Chloe, I know he is not what he seems. Please just let me alone about it." Lana peeked up from painting Chloe's toenails.
Chloe sighed. "Okay. You do know that he's dangerous."
"Guess what! I can protect myself believe it or not." Lana took Chloe's hand to begin painting Chloe's fingernails.
"Lets have girl talk then....Let me see...what to talk about." Chloe wiggled her toes as she checked out their fresh new paint job.
"Clark is an awesome kisser." Lana grinned.
"Yeah....I figure..I mean those lips..." Chloe rolled her eyes. "Okay, no fair. He never would kiss me back. Well, not the times I can actually remember."
"Yeah, that is funny all the strange things that happen in Smallville and you get to make out with the guy and can't remember." Lana scrunched up her nose and giggled.
"Tell me about it..Unfair." Chloe laughed.
"Clark sure acted strange then...even though you were the one bitten by that parasite." Lana blew across Chloe's hand on the fresh nail polish.
"Yeah, Clark on red..." Chloe stopped. "He....uuum..he can be strange at times."
"Yep, not himself. However, when he is himself...I mean really himself...He is the ....he is.. Never mind that is so personal." Lana glanced down at Chloe's nails again. She had Chloe's curiousity going into over drive.
"Oh really?" Chloe was intrigued.
"MMmmhmmmm. It is like, he's not human." Lana was over exaggerating of course. Clark was perfectly human with her in that area. Actually, he was a little shy and like her very inexperienced. They were getting there though...until he suddenly stopped. Time to try to find out why.
"Wow, that's not what I expected." Chloe held her finished hand up to inspect.
"Yeah, he gets very carried away." Lana grinned mischievously. "Kind of out of control...if you know what I mean?"
"Oh...ummm. I guess he has reason to be scared then." Chloe furrowed her eyebrows. Clark Kent...out of control.
"He is just very passionate. Clark is eager when it comes to intimacy." Lana lied again. Clark was actually very gentle and caring. He also was shy when it came to their intimacy. However, if Lana suspicioned Clark having gifts...that could be the reason he stopped being with her.
Lana had called him on knowing he still desired her. His excuse was not excuse at all. "It was complicated." Please!
"This is uncomfortable. I mean Clark is my friend...and well..." Chloe interjected.
"Oh. Well, girl talk. Chloe, this is what it is." Lana explained. "But if you don't want to be typical teen girls talking about a very handsome verile boy...then so be it."
" No.. I mean.. He is Clark." Chloe sighed.
"Okay, so Clark likes sex. Is that so hard to believe?" Lana blew again on Chloe's polished nails.
"Well ...I mean, I was under the impression that you and Clark hadn't...for a while." Chloe frowned.
"Really? Why would you think that? I mean we were arguing over secrets but sex...please..he is a normal 18 year old boy." Lana smirked at her lie.
"Normal...sure." Chloe was thoroughly confused now.
Why would Clark lie to her? Or had him and Lana been intimate since the talk she had with him? Perhaps, they had on the day Clark asked Lana to marry him? NO...Lana wouldn't remember. Maybe, Clark figured
Lana accepted him then ...they did.
Lana had heard Chloe enough for today. She had manipulated her enough to realize that Chloe knew something...the secret.
Now, Lana was playing three people. It was the same game....to get at Clark's secret.
She was the queen...Lex, Clark, and now Chloe were her pawns.

Part 8
Martha pulled the cover tightly around her legs. She tried to settle down but looked to see her hands still shaking from last weeks events. Lionel had willingly put his life on the line for her….or did he? Clark didn’t trust him. She wasn’t sure if she should either.
However, it felt nice to have a friend her age. She tried to go to the Farmer’s Market with Clark. Their booth went unnoticed. That was so different then when Jonathan was there. The Kent booth was the busiest when Jonathan Kent was the man behind it. She even tried talking to some farmers’ wives. They treated her cordially but there was no friendship.
Clark bound through the door. He leaned up against the wall sighing heavily.
“What is wrong, Clark?” Martha wrapped the blanket tighter around her shoulders….she still felt the chill of the water from that tank.
“Lana..” He breathed heavily.. “She is seeing Lex….I gave her up only for her to run to Lex.”
“Come here and sit.” Martha patted the couch cushion next to her. Clark walked over and flopped down. “You gave her up.”
“I still love her.” Clark blinked.
“I know..but you told her you didn’t.” Martha ran her hand down Clark’s back.
“Why? Why! Did it matter it was to make her hate me so she would be happy? She could move on to a normal life if she hated me! NO! She moved on to that that vile son of a b…” Clark gritted his teeth.
“Clark Kent!” Martha interrupted. “Don’t.”
“I can’t do this. I can’t live like this anymore.” Clark stared up at the ceiling.
Martha looked at her son’s hands. They were shaking as he squeezed his hands into tight white knuckled fists. She watched his brow narrow into tiny lines of frustration.
“Clark…” She touched him soothingly as a mother should.
“I want him dead! I want him and Lionel dead! I don’t want Lionel near you…and I want Lex away from Lana. How much more am I going to punish for being me? I gave her up for her safety…Now she is in the arms of….” Clark sighed. “ I could break his neck like a twig…snap! It would all be over.”
“Clark! This is not you.” Martha warned. “YOU need to control yourself.”
“That is all I ever do…control. Sometimes, I just don’t want to maintain control.” Clark shook his head side to side violently.
“Clark! Calm down.” Martha grabbed Clark by the face. A hand on each side of his jaws. “Look at me.”
Clark opened his eyes. He stared at her. “Dad is dead because I chose to save her. I gave her up because I chose to save her. Now all that is happening is the man that killed her in the first place wins. I try to do right but I just lose…Evil seems to win when it comes to my life. Dad is gone…Lana hates me….and I am alone.”
“I’m here.” Martha spoke softly.
“No. You’re not. You are so busy with so much..I mean I understand..I really do. I prefer it that way. When we are around each other…” Clark stopped. He didn’t want to hurt his mother.
“It only reminds us Jonathan is not here.” Martha added. Clark shook his head in agreement.
“I wish Dad was here. I want so bad to talk about Lana to him.” Clark closed his eyes again. Now calmer.
“I’m here, Sweetie.” Martha let go of Clark’s face.
“Neither of us are here any more, Mom. Neither of us are living..we are only existing.” Clark blinked as a tear clung to his long eyelashes.
“Clark, please. Talk to me.” Martha pleaded touching Clark’s shaking hand.
“Talk about what. The fact that I ran Lana into the arms of a man I hate. Talk about the fact that I thought it would take her more time to find someone. Talk about the fact that…I feel she never really loved me or she would have not ran to him so fast.” Clark gulped.
“Clark, Lana loves you.” Martha tried to stop Clark’s hand from shaking. It may as well been trying to stop an earthquake. It only hurt her physically to touch him at that moment.
“NO. She has to have had feelings for him all along. She went to him because I wouldn’t let her in. I'm not normal. With all the dirty little secrets Lex possesses…he still can be honest with Lana about being normal. She still will have a more normal life with him than she ever would with me.” Clark stood up and clutched the mantel.
His hands continued to shake as he closed his eyes. A photo of Jonathan, Martha, and Clark fell to the floor and shattered. Clark squeezed his eyes tighter as the sound of shattering glass hit his ears. He let go of the mantle and headed towards the door.
“The cows won’t feed themselves.” He stated. “I wish I could fly away and be alone.” He whispered but Martha still heard his words.
Martha began to clean up the mess. Her finger pricked on the glass. She instinctively stuck the finger in her mouth. It stung. She thought of being terrified of dying in that demented game last week. Martha realized even in her grief over Jonathan, she still yearned for life.
Martha walked over to the trash can and threw away the broken glass. She placed the photo on the table. She peeked out the window at Clark. Did he still yearn to live? Martha’s greatest fear was that he didn’t.

Trust me guys...My fics have angst...but I can guarantee if you like my story at all....I always ..always add humor and nonangst in between. I don't like to bog down with sadness...that is why the back and forth posts..clark's pov is sad..Lana's is strong and determined....It is how I write. Keep reading...don't think you'll feel sad constantly...Hmmm how about another post just for the really sad one....It isn't much better though...got to move the story along....remember this is a fic I started after FRAGILE...they go with episodes of season 5...I'd watch then post after the episode that aired...if you read..you'll guess that...
Part 9
Lana sat at her desk leaning her head down. She was tired ….very tired. Tired of the games, tired of the pain, tired of not having Clark hold her close. She needed that. A tear fell to the papers below her. She had kissed Lex passionately. She didn’t know at the time that Clark had witnessed it. Chloe informed her later. It was a convenient slip on Chloe’s part. Too bad but good as well.
Clark had said he couldn’t even breathe when he saw the kiss. He couldn’t breathe. Lana knew that feeling. It was the same feeling she had when he said he didn’t love her. It was not true but it still hurt like a knife piercing her core.
Lana picked up her aching head to glance at the time. Chloe was very late as usual. She was probably with Clark. Was she jealous? Yes. Because Chloe knew. She had the time that Lana rarely got. It was not romantic but it still hurt none the less that Lana couldn’t be with him. That is all she really wanted was to be there with him.
To be there to help and support him in his life. Whatever that life was?
Lana turned in her chair placing the documents in her drawer as she did. Clark saw them. He knew she was studying this. Lana gulped. She messed up bad tonight and had no idea how to fix it. She had given Lex knowledge of the Kryptonian weakness.
However, wasn’t that her duty as a person to protect Lex. Milton Fine was found out later not to have a weakness. But if he did. Lana still had to protect Lex’s life, it was the right thing to do.
Lana fidgeted nervously with her nails. Lex was keeping things from her. Something happened to him. She’d get out of him what it was. She had to. Clark depended on her more than he ever knew.
Lana crawled into bed. She reached under the pillow to pull out the shirt she had claimed of Clark's. His smell still lingered on it. She sniffed it then placed it back. He would be hers again…some day holding her…making love to her. Making her feel like the woman she longed to be…only the way he could.
Giggling filled the dorm halls. It was Chloe and Clark. Was Clark laughing? No…just Chloe.
“Come on, Clark. The cake wasn’t that bad.” Chloe opened the door.
“You didn’t have to taste it.” Clark was smiling a little. Lana felt happy about it. Cake…what cake?
“Lois was nice to make it, Clark.” Chloe chuckled.
Lana wanted to scream. Lois baked Clark a cake…that was her thing…she baked cakes for Clark’s birthday. It lead to their first real moment of admitting love.
“It would've been nicer if she spared me.” Clark glanced over at the bed. He couldn’t see Lana looking at him. She looked asleep. “She’s here.” He whispered.
“Clark, she is always here.” Chloe placed her books on her desk.
“She is at Lex’s more than she was ever with me. She…she cares more. He doesn’t have to hide who he is.” Clark sighed out. “He said I lost her on my own…I did.”
“Clark, listen to yourself. Lex is a leech. So he is hiding things….we both know. You and I tried to tell her. Lana is the type to have to learn on her own.”
“I just want to protect her.” Clark voice was suddenly sad.
“She doesn’t want that.” Chloe bit her lip. She wanted to say…Lana wants you. It was difficult seeing her friends love so much yet stray so far from one another.
“I know. She wants Lex.” Clark glanced at Lana’s still body.
It hurt not to touch her. Lana had no idea how much he longed to touch her body. How many times he feared the slightest brushing of her lips to his would ignite the fire he tried desperately to quench in his soul. She had no idea that touching her soft skin would make him desire her beyond what he thought he could resist. He couldn’t do that to her. He couldn’t chance hurting her. He couldn’t chance telling her his secret.
NO! Her blood would never be on his hands again. Even if it meant that he would remain unfilled….even if meant that he was dying more each day without her. As long as she was alive, he would sacrifice himself.
Chloe caught Clark wiping his face just a quick swipe. However, she still witnessed it. The man of steel was cracking.
“I have to go.” Clark reached for the door knob. He leaned his forehead against the door. “Tell her.”
“Clark..”
“Please…just tell her like you do for me every night. Please.” Clark opened the door and left.
Chloe sighed. She then walked over to Lana’s bed. “Lana?” No answer. Just as Clark wanted it to be. Lana had to be sleeping. “Clark loves you.”
Lana never moved. She never even breathed in air until she heard Chloe head towards the bathroom and shut the door. Lana then breathed in deeply. It was the same every night. Lana waited on it every night. She forced herself to stay awake to hear Chloe’s words from Clark. They both thought she was in slumber but it was becoming routine. A routine that gave Lana hope that someday….
Clark would be hers once more…this time forever.

Part 10
“Did Clark dance with you?” Lex smirked. He thought ' no' had to be the answer. Satifaction of that fact made him sway more content to the music. Lana being in his arms rather than Clark's was an added bonus.
“Yes.” Lana answered as she closed her eyes and leaned onto Lex’s shoulder. It was odd leaning against his shoulder rather than his chest. Clark was so much taller. She leaned against Clark's chest. She could always hear the beating of his heart that way.
Lana tried to reclaim the game. “But dancing was not exactly his strong point.”
“Why am I not surprised?” Lex chuckled against Lana’s ear. She shuddered in disgust. Lex thought it was a tremble of desire. “Do you want to go be alone?”
“No. I’m not ready for that.” Lana knew exactly what he was alluding to.
“With Clark you were.” Lex stated as he lowered his hand on to the small of her back.
“That is off limits, Lex.” Lana warned. “You can take me home.”
“Lana, I’m sorry.” Lex grabbed for her hand as she sauntered away.
Lana breathed deeply. Tonight she would play the angry female. Actually, she wasn’t playing. Lex made her angry. “I want to be mad tonight.” She stated as she ran her hand over his cheek. “I’ll forgive you tomorrow. After all, a woman has a right to be mad. Make up is always nicer.”
Lex smiled as he kissed her cheek.
Lana glanced away to the door. Why was this happening? Had she gotten anything from Lex lately that she needed? Not really. He was hiding something. But what?
Lana road in silence. Lex figured it was the angry woman she spoke of. He let her be. Lana stepped from the car. At least, she didn’t have to worry about a slobbery kiss goodbye.
Lana unlocked the dorm room door. Chloe was not home. She sighed when she saw a message. She touched play.
“Chloe, this is Clark. I’m sorry I can’t make it tonight. I have a lot of errands to run for the farm. Don’t forget the nightly routine.” Clark stated in the message.
Lana smiled. She enjoyed the ritual of hearing he loved her. She then moved over to the desk. She pulled out the papers. The list of names she had made was her secret.
1. Dr. Virgil Swann
2. Lionel Luthor
3. Lionel’s prison cell mate
4. Bridgette Crosby
5. Kal-el
Lana circled Kal-el’s name. Who was that? Why were they looking for him? Lana bit the end of her pen in contemplation. Kal-el…Clark called himself Kal. Was that a coincidence? Too big to be one. She crossed out Bridgette Crosby. She didn’t exist according to records..but she found her name scribbled on a paper once by Jason Teague. The cell mate….he was her next step. What would he know?
Lana pulled out the map of the first meteor shower. She circled each meteor reported. Then she put an x on the place that Lex had tested years earlier. One of the workers she had spoke to said they had found a strange object there. An octagonal shaped object was found. What was it?
She pulled out the drawing she had made from the caves. They matched the one that Lionel made on the floor. They matched her own tattoo. Lionel….that was not Lionel that day. Who was he?
Lana sighed as she leaned back against the desk chair. She had to stay around Lex longer. There were too many unanswered questions.
Lana picked up the phone. She dialed the number.
“Hello.” Martha’s sweet voice lingered on the other end. Lana missed their talks.
“Martha, it is Lana.” Lana bit her lip nervously.
“Clark is sleeping. He had a long day of work.” Martha explained.
“I called to tell you that Lex is having a benefit dinner next Saturday for the orphanage. He’d like for a Senator to make an appearance.”
“Oh. I guess he thought you could get me to come.” Martha stated sardonically.
“It is a good cause.” Lana had volunteered to call. She had hoped Clark would answer the phone. Just to hear his voice would have been nice.
“I don’t know…I..” Martha stopped as Clark’s scream echoed through the house. Lana could hear it on the other end of the line. He was calling her name. It was so eerie hearing Clark call out her name in such pain.
“Laaanaa! Laaaanaaa! Don’t die! Laaaanaa! NO!”
“I need to go.” Martha was panicking. Lana had to hear that.
“Is he okay?” Lana’s voice cracked with threatening tears.
“Lana…please…don’t call back.” Martha hung up the phone. She leaned against the counter. That was cruel but she was Lex’s girlfriend now according to Clark. Lana was with the enemy according to Lionel and Clark. She had to protect her son. Clark claimed he tried to warn Lana of Lex. Lana chose Lex.
Martha placed her head into her hands as she cried. “I need you, Jonathan. I need you so much.” She glanced upstairs. She knew he was sobbing again. Every night her son cried. Every night it was that nightmare…blood on his hands. The blood of his beloved Lana.
Clark sat up in his bed. Sweating at the memory of that day. His best day…his worst day. Clark leaned back as his eyes closed. He needed to try to sleep. His eyes closed in exhaustion.
Lana lay down in bed. She chose to slip on the shirt. His shirt. Chloe was so late. She wanted to hear it but she was so sleepy. So tired. Her eyes closed in exhaustion.
“He looks like you.” Lana stated as she looked at Clark.
“Yeah. He does. Do you think he will be like me?” Clark ran his finger over the cheek of the baby in Lana’s arms.
“I hope so. Laura isn’t but…I think he’ll be.” Lana leaned up and kissed Clark. “Our son.”
“Mama…dada.” A girl that looked like a miniature Lana bound through the door. She hopped into Clark’s lap. “Is that my brother?”
“Yes. Laura, meet Jonathan Clark Kent.” Lana smiled as her daughter touched the baby's hand.
“I’m sorry. She wouldn’t wait.” Martha smiled as she walked to the bed.
“Are you kidding? I think it was grandma that couldn’t wait.” Clark grinned.
“Maybe.” Martha admitted.
“Kal.” Laura interrupted. “ I like that name. Will he be a hero like you, Daddy?”
“Mommy is the hero tonight.” Clark winked. “You did so good. Thank you…for them both. I love you.”
“I love you.” Lana ran her hand across Clark’s forehead pushing back his hair.
“They always say that…a lot.” Laura giggled.
Lana’s eyes opened. She smiled. The dream was so vivid. So real. If only Clark would tell her the truth. It could be.
Clark opened his eyes. The nightmare was replaced with such a vivid dream. Lana and his children. It was so real. IF only he could tell her the truth. It could be.

Wow, multiple updates!
I'm glad to see that Lana isn't enjoying the manipulation too much. She's in pain, too.
It is a dangerous game Lana is playing, and I guess even she sees the danger that she may drive Clark away from her, the same way Martha already seems to have rejected her despite Martha's feelings for her.
But she seems so intent on winning back both Clark and the truth! I guess I can only wish more power to her.
I like that both shared the same dream and the same hopes. Sad, but it still gives one hope for the future!

Great Upddates! Sad, but Great!
It's sad how they both have hopes to be together and not be able to express them to each other. Poor Clark he thinks he Lana doesn't love, if only there where a way for him to know she loves him.

Note:This was written the night VESSEL aired...
Part 11
Lana held her head in her hands as she sat at the desk chair in Lex’s mansion. Her head ached in throbbing thuds. What the heck was going on?
The world was falling down around her and she did what? She made sure to meet Lex. Where did that come from? It was as if a force was propelling her into that direction. She felt as if she wanted to be there.
Lana felt sick to her stomach. She had seen Lex disappear into the spaceship. She blamed herself because she had used him to get to the information. Now they had both gotten in over their heads. Then Clark came to see her. She was harsh. Why? It didn’t make sense to her. All seemed forced….as if it was scripted by a controlling being that was not herself.
Lana glanced at the couch she lay on early with Lex….sleeping. What was that? She had no desires for Lex in that manner. Lana closed her eyes as a tear slid down her cheek. She remembered waking up on top of Clark many times the past Summer. Only she and he were nude…and they fell asleep due to exhaustion of lovemaking. Not boredom.
Lana had started out manipulating Lex for her purposes. Now she feared she had lost control. Her actions were not her own…she was the one that was manipulated. But by whom..... or what?
Lex strolled into the office. She almost feared to speak to him. He was very powerful now. Lana bit her lip as she leaned back in the chair. Luckily, Lex went to the bar to make a drink.
Lana had even told Lex of Clark’s plan to kill him. Why? She had done so many actions this day that she was at a loss to understand.
“Lex, I need to go find Chloe.” Lana stood up to leave.
“Why? I am all you need.” Lex smirked. He seemed distant yet in complete control of the situation.
“I just need to see if she is okay.” Lana explained as she walked to the door.
“Fine. But you will return.” It was not a question…but a demand.
“Of course.” Lana smiled.
The chaotic day had slowly came to an end. Communications were returned. The rioting ceased. However, Lana found inside her very being a nagging feeling of doom was still there.
Lana rushed into the dorm. She ran into Chloe and Lionel ,of all people. Chloe was holding a wet wash cloth to Lionel’s head. She seemed rather tattered herself.
Lana rushed to Chloe and embraced her. “I…help me. I haven’t been myself today…some thing is wrong.”
“Lana” Chloe gulped. “I don’t really want you here. You chose Lex over us all.”
“No. I mean..I admit it looked that way. I was using him to find out! I just don’t know what happened…today.” Lana sat on the edge of the bed. She let out a sigh then glanced to them. “Please..I need an explanation.”
“He’s gone.” Chloe sat down on her own bed beside Lionel. “He’s gone because he refused to kill. He couldn’t kill.”
“Clark is no killer. Even Jor-el should have known that.” Lionel pulled the rag from Chloe’s hand. He touched a gash on her cheek with it.
“What? Clark had said he was going to kill Lex.” Lana gulped. “I told Lex. Why did I tell him knowing that Lex…could have killed Clark?”
“You were used by Milton Fine no doubt.” Lionel closed his eyes. His cell phone buzzed in his pocket. When he answered a look of panic overtook his face.
“What is it? Is it Clark?” Lana needed to know about Clark. She had treated him so badly. She didn’t mean to pretend she never loved him. The words came out without her control. Today was all out of character for her. What was going on?
“My jet..it went down over the Pacific Ocean….Lois…and Martha were on it.” Lionel shook his head in total distress.
“Clark! Clark can save them.” Lana jumped to her feet. Chloe stood slowly.
“Don’t you get it! Clark is gone! YOU betrayed him to Lex! NOW he is gone….FOREVER!” Chloe screamed in Lana’s face. “ARE you happy?! He sacrificed all for you!”
Lana’s eyes widened. She glared at Chloe. “Don’t even go there.” Lana’s voice was low but menacing. “I tried playing his way. He hid those feelings. I tried being there. He pushed me away. YOU think you are so loyal..so there for Clark. You use him for your own bidding. You hang in the wings waiting for Clark to quit loving me. NEWSFLASH…ace reporter, Chloe Sullivan. Clark Kent will always love Lana Lang…And I will ALWAYS love Clark Kent.”
“Why…then …why?” Chloe turned and sat on the bed. Sobbing banished her anger. “Why betray him? Why choose Lex?”
“I didn’t. I was using Lex. I just wanted to protect Clark.Somehow, I did things….I didn’t mean to. Like tell Lex of their home being their weakness and warning him today. I even said I didn’t know why I ever loved him… Why…” Lana stopped.
“You were being controlled by Milton Fine. Clark had to be completely ripped away from you. If it came to a choice between Lex’s life or your’s. Clark would have easily chosen you. Milton Fine made sure you turn on Clark…so Clark would forget you were in danger. Your anger towards him made him confused especially when you said you…didn’t know why you loved him. Clark asks himself that every day as it is..Why did you ever love him? You confirmed his fears.” Lionel’s words hit hard.
“I love him…for so many reasons.” Lana sobbed. “Please…where is Clark? I have to tell him.”
“He is gone forever, Lana. I’m not exaggerating. He vanished. We don’t know where he went. He could be dead.” Chloe cried into her hands.
“Zod may have killed him.” Lionel seemed grieved as well.
“NO! I don’t believe that. I feel him…here.” Lana pointed to her heart. “Clark is not dead. I know it.” Lana gained composure. “Who is Zod?”
“He is evil…the worst kind of evil. Lex is him now…well the embodiment of him.” Lionel explained.
Lana stood up to walk out. Chloe and Lionel stared her way. “Where are you going?”
“IF Lex is Zod…and Zod knows where Clark is….then I’ll find out.” Lana touched the door knob.
“Lana, it is too dangerous. He is not Lex…he is more evil.” Chloe pleaded. “Don’t go there. He could kill you.”
“I’m dead without Clark. Don’t you see. Don’t you all see? Without each other…Clark and I don’t even want to exist.” Lana walked out of the dorm. She felt her knees shaking with fear. She was going to try to manipulate a ruthless being.
Lana Lang had been used tonight to destroy Clark Kent. She would make amends somehow. She would tell him she loved him. She would be the manipulator to this evil…or she would die trying.

Part 12
“Can’t you read them Lionel?” Chloe tossed the papers on the table.
“I told you. Jor-el surfaces but gives me no knowledge of this information. He just allows me to be his oracle.” Lionel leaned back in the wooden kitchen chair. “What if Lana is wrong? What if Clark is dead?”
“I though of that. But I don’t know if it is her love keeping hope in a hopeless situation. Or if it is Lana really feeling him? All I know is without Clark…we have no hope.” Chloe picked up the paper. “Let’s try again.”
“Listen. Lana, said that she is in contact with my old prison cell mate. She said he can read some Kryptonian. He should be here tomorrow night. This studying of these symbols is going no where. Take a break from this. We can concentrate on trying to find Martha and Lois.” Lionel picked up a map of the place the aircraft was last on radar. It was before the whole fiasco of technology melt down.
“Sounds like a deal.” Chloe cocked her head sideways. “ I wonder how she is doing with Zod?”
***************************
Lana stood looking at herself in the full length mirror. Her black attire made her sexy. It also made her uncomfortable. This being that had taken over Lex controlled all around him. He hated the very existence of human beings it seemed. Why did he not kill her? Why did he kiss her while the world was crashing around them? Those questions Lana could only guess. She knew that she was not acting on her own will that day. However, what did this alien that hated mankind want with her?
That question was easily answered. It was the same answer to why Lex wanted her. Clark loved her. They both wanted what Clark couldn’t seem to keep. They being Lex and Zod. To Lex, it was the fact he was jealous of every thing Clark possessed. To Zod, it was the fact that his enemy’s son loved this creature. Him having her only pleased him that Kal-el would suffer knowing that.
Lana walked up to Zod. She no longer thought of him as Lex. There was a small part of Lex still there. She knew that because she would be dead if not. However, the fact that Lex was inhabited by Zod proved that he was evil before this inhabitation.
“What do you think of Kal-el?” Zod asked as he raked the cold drink across Lana’s cheek.
“Why think of a child? When a man stands before me?” Lana smirked. She ran her hand across the buttons on Zod’s shirt.
Zod chuckled. Then leaned in to meet her lips. He may hate humanity but the feeling of a female’s contact after all these years was still warming. Not warming of the heart but of the groin. After all, females , Kryptonians or Earthlings, were for one purpose to Zod. That purpose as to please the body of the male.
“I should take you.” He stated as he leaned in.
“You have to adjust to Earth first. You could kill me.” Lana maneuvered herself from him. She poured herself a drink of scotch. She hated drinking. So she sipped the drink. It was an act to go with her new image. The image she tried to portray as of late.
“Why would I care if you die?” Zod stated coldly.
“You would have no fun with me dead. Adjust first, my ruler. Then nights of pleasure will ensue.” Lana winked. “Kal-el was afraid to touch me. He was a little boy full of fear. He fumbled through the physical as a human. However, he learned to be a great lover….as a human. As Kryptonian, he cowered from my body. This body.” Lana ran her hand over her body. “You do want me to find you a better lover than him? Don’t you? We must wait so I know of how a real man feels.”
Zod smirked. He then turned up his drink and downed it. “I will prove I am far better than the boy of Jor-el. Now, I must see how much more suffering the world would endure at my hands. While he remains in his dark prison. I wonder if he thinks of me touching you.” Zod laughed. “This Lex I inhabit…all he does is dream of you. Strange man…strong but so weak. VERY human yet power hungry. He is exhilarated by my being.”
“As am I.” Lana twisted her finger in her hair. She then sipped another sip of Scotch. She wanted to dance in glee. She had found out that Clark was alive. He was imprisoned somewhere. That was something she longed to hear. A week of flirting with the devil brought her this tidbit of information. It was enough hope to keep her fueled to go on.
**************************
The darkness engulfed him choking him with the solitude that loomed over him. Clark ran his hand through his hair. Loneliness was a feeling he had became accustomed to. However, this was beyond lonely. Clark didn’t know whether he was floating, standing, sitting….nothing seemed realistic. Surreal was for lack of a better term what seemed to be.
Clark closed his eyes. Suddenly, the loneliness and darkness didn’t matter. He no longer felt like he was choking on the thick darkness. Why did this seem peaceful? He thought about the last events he could remember. He stood still while Zod inhabited Lex’s body. He stood still while Zod threw the ring towards the sky. He stood still while his body was sucked into this place. Did he care that he knew what was happening? Not really. He wanted to leave. He wanted this life..this pathetic life of his over. So he stood there. He allowed it..he welcomed it.
Perhaps, this was his own version of suicide..or in this case assisted suicide. Clark wanted out! He was tired. He was too tired for a nineteen year old boy to be. Too tired of life. Too tired of his life.
This past year had been his breaking point. He had went from making love on a nightly basis with Lana to eliminating her from his life completely. He had his secret known by his best friend. Yet, hid it from the one he loved. He had witnessed his father dying in his arms as his mother screamed in pain of the loss. To seeing his mother falling for the comfort of his father’s worst enemy. The same worst enemy that Clark had no choice but to trust. He had lost a friend that he had given chance after chance…but the friend loved power too much. The worst was that day. The day that he changed to an emotionless man. The day he saw her body bloodied and bruised. The day that he had to change. The change of that day brought a change in all of them. He pushed Lana away. She turned to the enemy that caused it all. His mother even began to change. She seemed to not want Lana in his life. Perhaps, it was because he traded his father’s life for Lana’s. Maybe Martha couldn’t accept that Clark’s love lived only to have her love die.
Clark felt weightless and less burdened. This was supposed to be a punishment. For some reason, it felt like an ending to a nightmare. It was better to dream than face that he caused all of this with his bad decision making.
Therefore, that is what Clark did. He dreamed or remembered. He thought of her. Clark smiled as he did. He could go an eternity thinking of Lana. NO this was not punishment. It was a gift.

Part 13
“Laaanaaa! Laaaanaa!” Clark felt weak…weaker than even a human could feel. If it not for Jonathan Kent holding him, he would buckled over. Fell to his knees under the weight of losing his love. His bloodied hands held tightly to his dad. She lay there lifeless. He had to do something.
Lana’s eyes flew open. She sat up quickly in bed. How could she see herself dead and Clark grief stricken over that death? Was she seeing the future? No…it seemed more like the past. Her heart raced as she threw her feet over the edge of the bed. She walked down to the kitchen to see Lionel seated at the counter. He looked up to see Lana.
“Hello, Ms. Lang.” Lionel pushed back some of the papers scattered on the counter . “Sit. Drink some coffee.”
Lana sat down and poured some coffee into a mug that Lionel held out to her. “Thanks. Any progress?”
“Not really.” Lionel sighed. “You?”
“Clark is alive.” Lana beamed.
“I know you want to believe that…but…”
“No, Zod revealed it. He said Clark was imprisoned.” Lana sipped her coffee and grimaced. It was a little strong.
“Sorry about the coffee. I am no Martha Kent when it comes to home domestics.” Lionel chuckled.
“Obviously.” Lana referred to the scattered mess about the Kent home. Lana scrunched up her nose at the levity of it. They needed a break from the heaviness that loomed over all of them.
“Good morning.” Chloe walked into the room. She shoved the drawings out the way and grabbed a coffee. She took a drink. “Mmmm. Good stuff.” Both Lana and Lionel laughed . “What?”
“Ms. Lang has informed me that Zod revealed Clark is indeed alive. He is imprisoned.” Lionel had a glint in his eye. He was delighted with the news.
“REALLY! Oh, Lana.” Chloe embraced Lana tightly. “You always knew.”
“I’m going to leave you two to talk. I’m in need of a shower. I don’t believe Zod would want the oracle for Jor-el in Lex’s mansion.” Lionel excused himself.
“He’s alive.” Lana couldn’t help but to be happy about the news. She felt it but it being confirmed was a piece of heaven.
“Lana.” Chloe hesitated. “I kissed him before he left. I kissed him. I thought all those feeling were gone but I just needed to say goodbye. I’m sorry.”
“Chloe, I understand. I know you knew that I was playing Lex. You even helped but the last few weeks even you couldn’t tell. I mean…somehow I was playing him but Milton Fine was manipulating that play into a reality the last day. I woke up in his arms.” Lana closed her eyes. That bothered her more than anything that had happened. Even though Clark and her were not an official couple, it still felt like a betrayal.
“Did you..?”
“NO! Thank God! Still, I felt ill to the fact I even woke up in Lex's arms.”
“So your not mad?” Chloe grinned sheepishly.
“No. I’d have kissed him if he was yours. Those lips are irresistible.” Lana twirled her finger around the edge of the mug. “Did he kiss you back?” Lana stared at the coffee grounds collecting at the top of her cup.
“I don’t know. I mean…he just took the kiss. I think he needed to feel….wanted at that moment. I just wasn’t the one he needed to want him.” Chloe stared at Lana.
“I love him.” Lana whispered. “I know you do as well. I just can’t give him up even if he comes back ….to you and not me. I’ll fight for him, Chloe.”
“So the line has been drawn in the sand.” Chloe chuckled. “Lana, you won’t have a fight. Clark loves you. He always will.”
“Why didn’t he tell me then? I wouldn’t have betrayed him.” Lana saw her own tear fall into the coffee mug dispersing the grounds that floated on top.
“He did.” Chloe sighed. “You’re the only one he has ever told.”
“The night I died.” Lana said lowly. “I died…didn’t I?”
“Yes. How did you know?” Chloe touched Lana’ s hand.
“I’ve been dreaming it since the day…Clark disappeared. His nightmare has become my own.” Lana swallowed the lump forming in her throat. “He doesn’t want to come back.”
“What?” Chloe furrowed her eyebrows. “You mean Clark?”
“There is too much pain here. I think if he wanted to be back…I’d feel him calling out to me.”
“Well, then maybe…just maybe.. You should try calling out to him.” Chloe stared at Lana.
“How?”
“Through here.” Chloe touched Lana’s chest above her heart. “I have a feeling…that it will work.”
***********************************
“Clark…stop..that tickles.” Lana pushed away then ran down across the grassy hill. Clark grabbed her from behind.
“Gotcha ya!” Lana squealed as his large hands grabbed her waist.
“This feels familiar.” She teased as she turned to kiss him.
“Yeah, but you’re wearing a dress and no one is at a barn raising over the hill. We’re all alone.” Clark wiggled his eyebrows up and down.
“Clark Kent, is that all you think about?” Lana giggled as she scrunched up her nose.
“Nope. But it is at the top of my to do list.” Clark grabbed Lana and twisted her to face him. “Let’s make love.”
“Here?” Lana tried to swat Clark away. But she could tell in his eyes he was serious. “You’re serious.”
“No one is around. Just make love to me in the grass.” Clark picked Lana up then lay her down gently on the soft grass.
“I…I don’t want to get caught.” Lana closed her eyes as Clark’s large hand ran up her skirt. He leaned in kissing her softly. Then heatedly.
Lana could no longer protest as she felt his kiss intensify. This summer was blissful. Being with Clark was all that she and he could have hoped for.
Clark closed his eyes tighter trying to relive those memories. There were many to go over in his head. Many to relive. His only time that he could feel complete. Was the time …he was human and with Lana.
He clinched his eyes tighter as his hands balled into fists. The memories were there but something else…someone else..Lana. Clark could feel her. She needed him. Lana needed him.

All I can say is that I love the story. Lana the manipulator was manipulated, but she can still feel Clark. Only she can draw him away from despair and a wish for dissolution, and is now beginning to do so.

A/N-I know I'm going at these updates fast and furious. But as I said the fic is already written and my internet service is messed up. I just want to get the readers I have to some good times and not so much angst. Also, the children in the dreams are not supposed to be exactly alike each dream. It is what Clark and Lana want...not necessarily will have..or will they.
Part 14...
“Daddy, can we go fishing?” the dark haired boy reached towards the small fishing pole.
“Sure.” Clark rustled his hair. “You want to come too.”
“Aww. Don’t take, Sissy.” The boy moaned.
“Why? Mommy is going.” The three year old girl crossed her arms defiantly.
“Good. She’ll keep you from eating all the worms.” He stuck out his tongue towards his little sister.
“That’s enough! Clark, control your children.” Lana teased as she wrapped her arms around his waist.
“You’re the boss.” Clark kissed Lana on the forehead. “Behave.” He warned his son and daughter.
“Don’t you forget it.” Lana smiled as she picked up the other fishing rod.
That was the last good dream Clark had in this Hell he was in. It was if all the good memories were placed in his mind mixed with what could have been then taken away to torment him. Now he desperately wanted out of there. He felt weighed down by the nothingness at one moment…then tortured by the screaming of Lana, his mother, and other human voices in pain. Clark tried to cover his ears but the moaning and screaming only became more intense.
He envisioned Lana’s death over and over…Sometimes, it was the exact scene. Sometimes it was her opening her eyes only to say….You did this. Or the worst of the nightmares, Lana would say..I don’t love you.
Clark swallowed hard trying to stop the torment. He had no idea how long he had been there…months, years…He had no idea. Time just kept creeping by. Clark kept living in his prison of Hell.
Clark tried to open his eyes and see past the darkness. It only brought the image of Lana kissing Lex or Lana bloodied lying by her crumpled vehicle. Clark would scream out eerily…
“Laana! Laaana!”
Lana bolted up in her bed. Actually, Clark’s bed. She stayed there now. Zod had busied himself on bringing peace to the world. So when Lana showed up at the mansion, Zod never questioned her. She was an insignificant peon, after all. She wasn’t fooled by Zod’s façade. He was using Lex’s body to make himself a name as a great human being. Then when all mankind accepted him…trusted him…Zod would swoop down and destroy. He liked the idea of fooling these little humans.
Lana had found out some interesting insights to Clark’s whereabouts. Zod was a bragger of his own accomplishments. He relished in the fact he was in charge. He wallowed in self indulgence and self love. He prided himself on his deeds. One being the demise of Jor-el’s son, Kal-el. He was imprisoned in space living a Hell that no Earthling could fathom. Lana also found out that Clark’s time was different. He was living months while only days were passing on Earth.
Lana had faith that Clark would someday be home.
However, Lana wondered about the Clark that would return. He would be older in his eyes but still a 19 year old boy to everyone else. Lana had to do something and soon. Clark had to save this world. He was the only hope.
“Lana.” Chloe stuck her head around the corner of the room. “Is it the same nightmare?”
“No. It is Clark screaming. I keep hearing him call my name. He needs me.” Lana’s eyes filled with tears.
Chloe walked over and sat on the bed next to Lana. “I know.Lionel thinks he has located Lois and Martha. Uncle Sam is working on a rescue mission. I guess that's some good news.”
“Yeah, that's great. I just don’t understand why Jor-el is not channeling Lionel. By everything that I have found out from Zod…Jor-el can release him.” Lana raked her hands through her hair.
“Lionel was wondering the same.” Chloe pulled her feet onto the bed and wrapped her arms around her knees. “Zod is beginning to capture the heart of man.”
“I know. I swear he thinks he’s the antichrist or something. He scares me. He made advances on me yesterday. I…” Lana bit her tongue.
“Zod thinks females are to use and discard. Be careful. He will take what he wants if you aren’t willing to give it.” Chloe squeezed her legs tighter to her body.
“I know. That’s what's scaring me. We have to save Clark…soon.”
Part 15
Lana touched the torn photo of her placed in the desk drawer in Clark’s loft. It was obvious that he hadn’t torn it on purpose. However, shards of glass had cut it. Lana closed her eyes. Those were happy times.
Lana stood up and walked around the loft. So many memories were spent there. So many times of making out on that couch…against that desk..on that desk…that Summer. Clark’s summer is what Lana began to think of it. The Summer Clark smiled nonstop….and so did she.
Lana had stopped frequenting Lex’s mansion. Zod was too dangerous. Chloe was right..he would try to take what he wanted. If not for an interruption by pressing matters of portraying Lex Luthor as savior…he would have taken her. She feared he would come to the farm soon to get her. She felt it in her core.
“Lana” Lionel walked briskly to the top the stairs. “It is time.”
“Jor-el?” Lana turned to stare at Lionel.
“Yes. I am he. It is time.” Jor-el just stared at her.
Lana smiled but received none in return. She followed him without question.
As they entered the caves, she felt a cold chill take hold of her body. She sighed as if the nightmare of the lost day was now a memory of hers as well as Clark’s. They walked into the cave as Lionel took out the key.
“You must understand first….you may be risking your own life for his.” Jor-el stated. “Only if you are willing.”
“I’m willing to give my life for Clark.” Lana was sure of that. It may frighten her but she was still sure.
“So be it.” Jor-el placed the key into the slot as a light illuminated through the cave.
Lana glanced around frightened. She remembered in her dreams that Clark held her as this happened. He told her not to be afraid. To trust him. Clark wasn’t there to calm her now.
“You silly human.” Zod stated as he walked into the cave just as the light engulfed them all.
Lana wanted to grab something…to hold onto someone…however, she remained still as she felt herself being whisked away. A fear gripped her of the unknown….if Clark survived and she had to die…so be it. He could save the world. However, just because she was willing, it made her no less afraid.
“Jor-el, how nice to see you with MY earth woman.” Zod smirked.
“I’m NOT your woman.” Lana screamed.
“Not now, Lana Lang. Kal-el needs you.” Jor-el pushed her behind him.
“I knew that you had your eyes on the son of Jor-el. His very weakness is within you as well as his strength. Do you actually think I would keep a human around for any other purpose but to over power Kal-el?” Zod crossed his arms.
“Leave her alone.” Jor-el pushed Zod as he flew through the air. He landed on a crystal.
Zod picked it up and threw it at Lana. Jor-el glanced at Lana. Lana knew just from the look that this was meant to be.
The crystal impaled Lana’s body as she screamed in pain. Her lower back began to glow with the emblem of Isobel. She threw back her head as a beam of light shot through her towards open space.
Clark heard her scream. His Lana was in pain. He pounded the dark walls around him. Suddenly, he was over taken by a strange glowing light. He felt as if he were freefalling into an bottomless pit. Instead, he landed with a thud on the floor of the Fortress of Solitude.
Clark glanced around him to see Zod, Jor-el/Lionel, and Lana. He gulped when he saw the crystal sticking from Lana’s abdomen.
“Lana?”
“Is the human female your main concern, Kal-el?” Jor-el questioned. “Have you not learned that one sometimes must be sacrificed to save the many?”
Clark blinked back tears as he fought with his emotions not to run to her. “Lana.” He whispered.
Zod chuckled evilly. “The human emotions are your biggest weakness, Kal-el.”
“NO! That is my strength!” Clark screamed as he punched Zod. Zod flew back against the cold walls of the FOS. His body slamming harshly against them.
Lionel fell to his knees as Jor-el left his body. This was Kal-el’s fight to be won. NOT his. Lionel watched as the more experienced fighter, Zod, hit Clark harshly in the gut. Clark buckled over. Clark winced in pain as he stood back straight. READY to die..if need be.
Zod noticed Clark glance again towards Lana’s still body. He realized that Clark would continue to fight until death for this female..this little human. As Clark turned to face Zod once more, Zod sped away. He’d fight the son of Jor-el another day. He must first come up with a plan to kill him. If they fought all evening inside the ice fortress, Clark would still not die. Zod was not willing to have his human body battered at this time.
Clark ran to Lana. “Lana..Lana..please be okay. I can’t change it this time. You have to be okay.”
“Clark.” Lana whispered weakly.
“Yes.” He smiled as he pulled her to him.
“You better get me to a hospital.” she stated in a strained whisper.
“Lionel, hold on.” Clark ordered as he picked up Lana.
Lionel grabbed Clark’s arm as tight as possible.
“Clark..” Lana choked out.
“Yes.” Clark’s voice cracked at the weakness in Lana’s.
“I don’t like the beard.” Lana scrunched up her nose with a giggle as she rubbed Clark’s unshaven face. His long moppy hair then was entwined in her fingers. “Maybe the hair is okay.” She then stared into his eyes as they sped off.
Clark speeding her to help. The world could wait. Lana needed him.

A geat update!!
I too have toyed with the notion that humanity is Clark's greatest strength, not his weakness. The willingness of Lana to sacrifice herself to save Clark and humanity as a whole can't be considered anything other than a noble strength. And of course, Clark would do anything to save Lana...

A/N-sorry as I warned internet really messing up. But all is fixed. Here is an update...things are going to take a turn now.
Part 16
“I have to stop him.” Clark stated coldly. Emotions being pushed back inside himself.
“I know.” Lana had been sewn and patched up.
Clark’s super speeding had them in Smallville in a matter of minutes. The wound had mysteriously began to heal on its own by the time they were at the hospital. It was a mere flesh wound when the nurse stitched it. Lana figured it had to do with the symbol on her back.
“Zod is dangerous.” Clark’s eyes glanced around the small bathroom.
“Believe me. I know. The month he has been here has been very frightening. The people of Earth have embraced him as Lex Luthor…saving the world. He’s setting them all up for a fall.” Lana pulled out a razor and pair of scissors as she pushed Clark down on the sink.
“You cannot cut my hair.” Clark stared down at her hands holding the objects.
“Oh…how..did you shave before?” Lana brushed her hand over the scruffiness of Clark’s beard.
“I never had to. A month…you said a month. I was in that Hell for….over a year.” Clark swallowed as he closed his eyes remembering hearing her screams.
“I’m sorry. About everything.” Lana whispered.
“You and Lex…if Zod was not here.” Clark didn’t seem saddened. Just stating the facts.
“No. It was always you, Clark. I tried to find out the secret through him..to protect you.” Lana pulled up Clark’s face to look at her.
“That was dangerous.” Clark spoke through his cracking voice. Must control emotions..is all his mind would let happen.
“Clark…I love you.” Lana leaned and kissed his forehead. “Look me in the eye and tell me you don’t love me anymore.”
Lana once again pulled Clark’s face to look at her. She touched his cheek with her soft finger feeling the bristles of hair under them. Clark just stared saying nothing. He wanted to say something but the words couldn’t come. Clark Kent had learned a lot in that prison. One was lying to Lana was bad decision making on his part.
“I know about that day. The day I died. I had a dream about it over and over again every day you were gone.” Lana fiddled with the razor in her hand.
Clark just stared for a moment. He then reached behind him and pulled open a drawer. A small lead container was pulled from the drawer. He opened it to reveal a very small piece of green meteor. Lana saw Clark’s expression change to pain.
“Clark, it is a peice of your home. It could hurt you.” Lana shut the box quickly.
“No. It is small. I held it once a long time ago for a stupid reason..Football.” Clark shook his head at his own foolishness in youth. “Use it now.” He took the meteor in his hand and lay it beside him.
Lana quickly grabbed the shaving lather and squeezed it into her hand. She stared into his sea blue/green eyes as she slowly lathered his bearded face.
“I love you still. I always will.” Clark swallowed. He stared straight into her eyes with those words.
“I know.” Lana smiled as she pulled the razor over his face. She leaned over and turned the water on to rinse the razor. She repeated the steps over and over until Clark’s handsome face she had became accustomed to appeared.
With each stroke Lana could see Clark swallowing. The feeling of her being that close causing him uneasiness. Her smell penetrating his nostrils with an intoxicating affect.
Lana purposely pushed herself against him as she turned off the sink faucet. She placed the rock back in the lead box and snapped it shut. Then turned to start the shower. Clark moaned as she stepped away from him. He longed still for the warmth of her body being that close.
The hot steam from the water filled the bathroom in a heavy mist. Lana could see the emotions in Clark's eyes returning. He bowed his head not wanting to feel that much emotion any more.
“You need a shower.” Lana stated as she opened the door to leave.
When she turned back around to state she’d make him something to eat. He was already nude staring at Lana. Lana swallowed hard unable to speak. She remembered every part of him…he had only changed slightly with his body being more defined and more muscular.
Clark walked up to her and touched her cheek. Lana’s face flushed red. She swallowed again. Clark had definitely changed.
He then leaned in and kissed her hard with as much passion as he had ever put into a kiss. He slowly slid off Lana's clothes. He then picked her up in his arms and headed for the shower. He placed her inside the shower.
I can control my powers.” Clark whispered. “I have physical needs as well as emotional ones... Lana Lang.”
Lana gulped as the water beaded on their bodies...meeting together as they entwined in making love.
“Kal-el?”Lana whispered.
“Yes.” Clark ran his hand down her cheek. She leaned into the palm of his hand.
“Clark?” Lana whispered.
“Yes.” Clark placed the pad of his thumb on her lips stroking their pouty form.

I'm not sure what you mean. If my ideas are like someone else's it is purely coincidental. This fic is already written last season. So if ideas cross over...it happens.
By the way, the last line somehow erased from the last update.
It should have said.
Lana smiled. Knowing he was both as it should be. I don't know how it erased...Now on with the next part.
Part 17
Lana walked into the kitchen pulling Clark by the hand. He followed her with a sheepish smile on his face. He spun her around when she got to the counter. He glanced down at her in his flannel blue shirt.
“Sexy.” He stated huskily.
“Clark.” Lana blushed as she brought up her hand to touch his face. “You’re so different.”
“Are you seeing me as an alien?” Clark grabbed Lana by the hips and placed her on top of the counter.
“No..I’m seeing you as you are.” Lana looked him straight in the eyes. “The man I love.”
Clark captured Lana’s lips in a fiery kiss. He pulled Lana’s legs around his waist and twirled into her. He slowly unbuttoned her shirt and pulled it from her shoulders until it was in a bunch at her waist.
“MMmmm..hmmm.” Lionel cleared his throat.
Clark looked up from kissing Lana’s neck. Her bare back was facing Lionel, Martha, Lois, and Chloe. Lana put her head into Clark’s chest hiding her embarrassment. Clark slowly pulled the shirt back on Lana’s shoulders obviously staring as he went.
“We’ll continue this later.” He told Lana as he picked her up off the counter. Lana made her escape upstairs holding her shirt together as she ran.
Chloe and Lois glanced at one another. Where was the shy Clark Kent?
“Clark? Ummmm..didn’t you miss us?” Lois asked as she walked over and punched him in the arm. She was trying to break the tension in the room. The tension felt by every one but Clark.
Clark just stared. Chloe interjected. “Clark was ….looking everywhere for you and his mom. He just is happy to see you both. The plane wreck scared us to death.”
“I missed my mother anyway.” Clark stated as he hugged his mother. He returned his glance upstairs. He obvious was more interested in where Lana went.
“Well, don’t worry. The General is having me picked up. He wants me to stay with him and Lucy a while. He found her as well.” Lois leaned up against the counter beside Clark.
“I thought you were Martha’s chief of staff?” Chloe sat at the table. She had been told by Lionel that Clark was back. She also said he had changed a little. Chloe could see he wasn’t so shy and more mature.
“Well…Lois and I talked. She needs to finish her education and start back to school.” Martha sat down as well.
“She didn’t belong here anyway.” Clark stated as he glanced at Lionel. “We need to talk.”
Lionel knew he didn’t mean him…but Jor-el. “Okay.”
Lois frowned. Clark sounded like that was an order and not a request. Lionel Luthor just obeyed. Strange.
As they walked into the barn, Clark sighed. “I need to speak to Jor-el.”
“I guess we need to go to the caves then.” Lionel sat down on a hay bail. He no longer cared for his suits and fancy shoes…Times had changed even him.
“Not necessary.” Clark touched Lionel’s shoulder.
“Kal-el, my son.”
“Father, I can’t defeat Zod. He knows more than I do. I should have finished my education.” Clark ran his hands through his hair.
“You need to send him back…fighting is futile. He is too strong and doesn’t have the weakness that you do.” Jor-el explained.
“I know what I have to do…but she isn’t ready.” Clark swallowed.
“That is your love for her speaking. Lana is the transference of spirits. You know this because of the mark. You have learned well, my son.”
“I won’t put her life in danger.” Clark closed his eyes. “I do love her.”
“She loves you as well. Lana Lang was sent by me to foil the others on their arrival. Why do you think I did so?”
“Because she is connected to us…she is of Kryptonian ancestry. Isobel would not have had that mark if not…Her mark.” Clark knew..part of him always knew that they were connected.
That is why a five year old child can feel things for another. It
a was soul mate connection. It was Kryptonian connection. It was meant to be. That is also why so much emotion had been in their relationship. They were destined for one another but the trials had to make them stronger….to last together.
“Lana Elizabeth Lang is the key. She is the one to be the Manipulator of things that seem to be but bring forth things that should be.” Jor-el touched Clark. “It is her destiny as you have yours. She is your connection to mankind, my son. I saw that as a weakness…I now know it is your strength.”
“Elizabeth….Isobel… I never noticed that was the same name in different languages until now.” Clark sighed. “It's time…..to defeat Zod.”

A very interesting development - Lana as the 'transference of spirits', with a Kryptonian heritage of her own, and the destined soulmate of Clark.
But no pressure Lana...
So when are Jor-El and/or Clark going to inform the poor girl of her own destiny?
Oh, btw. I thought Clark was just a little harsh with Lois. He's still the nice guy that he always was, isn't he?

This may seem spoilerish..so be warned. But you must know that I wrote this before I knew of the rumors.....It is posted on another fansite and it was finished before spoilers even surfaced...ask Nemu. He read it. Just warning a little spoilerish-about a certain character appearing- but wasn't when I wrote it.
part 18 (I added it...I lost it in the post...sorry!)
“See.” Clark held the clear crystal necklace up to Lana.
“Wow.” Lana touched it. “I wish I knew it hurt you then.” Lana clasped the necklace in her hand.
“I think it is strange it never hurt you. I mean any one else exposed to kryptonite for that long of a time would have some kind of freak power or something.” Clark pushed a strand of hair behind Lana’s ear.
“What are you saying, Clark?” Lana took his hand from her face and held it in her own.
“I’m saying…you’re special in more ways than one.” Clark smiled as he stood. He swung her hand a little before letting it drop.
Clark walked over to the shelf and began searching. He pulled out a wooden jewelry box covered in dust. He blew the dust from the box and headed back to sit by Lana on the red couch.
“I’ve almost forgotten about having this. It has been so long. I just stashed it away.” Clark looked up at Lana staring intently.
“What is it?” Lana cocked her sideways still pondering the necklace in her hand rather than the contents of the box.
“I think it is meant for you.” Clark took a small key taped to the bottom of the box and opened it. He pulled out a bracelet and handed it to Lana. “It is meant for my destined one.”
Lana took it and gulped. “But…how do you know it is meant for me?” Tears were brimming her eyes.
“Lana, not only have I felt connected to you since I was five years old. Not only do I love you with my very soul...But…” Clark pulled the necklace from her hand. “Look.”
Clark held the necklace to the bracelet. The same shape of the necklace matched that of the center jewel in the bracelet. Lana ran her finger over the jewel then the clear crystal.
“It is the same. What does this mean?” Lana swallowed.
“There is more.” Clark pulled out a photo of the chief of the Kawatche tribe. Clark had enlarged the photo so that it was only his robe. “See. The symbol on his robe..it matches the one on your back.”
Lana wrinkled her brow. “I ….I have Kawatche ancestry. Is that what you think?”
“Yes. I do. The Kawatche people had …for lack of better terms…reproduced with Kryptonians. Thus, creating the skin walker legends. I think you have Kryptonian ancestry as well.” Clark grinned.
“Clark…that is how you knew we could have …” Lana cleared her throat. “Sex.”
“Yeah…you think about a lot of things being locked away for over a year. I thought about touching you…which lead me to Joe and Louise..or my dad and your aunt..Then the skin walkers….suddenly, through all the turmoil there, I was putting the pieces of the puzzle together. It all clicked and pointed straight to you. Lana…” Clark hesitated.
“Yes.” She whispered still staring at the objects in her hands.
“You are destined to help me. The tattoo means transference. You have to transfer Zod’s spirit back to his prison..just as you transferred me back from the prison.” Clark gulped. “But..if you don’t want to. I’ll…”
“You’ll what, Clark?” Lana interrupted. “I have a destiny that is a part of who you are. I have only dreamt of having you connected to me..Now it is reality.”
“We need to make sure of all this theory before I put you in danger.” Clark sighed as he ran his hand across her cheek.
“Clark” Lana leaned into his chest. “You are in just as much danger.. You will be fighting him..I will just be waiting in the wings for the transference.”
“I know. But he may find out..and he will hurt you.” Clark sighed.
“I am willing to chance that. Now how are we going to do this?” Lana felt Clark’s arms wrap around her tightly.
“We have to study your heritage first..make sure there isn’t anything we miss.” Clark placed his chin on her head.
“How do we do that?” Lana ran her finger in circles on Clark’s black shirt. Playing with each button in deep thought of the upcoming events.
“That is where I come in.” Chloe walked up the steps. “Investigative reporter extraordinaire.”
Part 19
“Hey, Lana, let me talk to Chloe a second.” Clark touched Lana’s cheek. He made a small circle with his thumb then leaned down to kiss her. A sweet flicker of tongue as they pulled apart.
“Okay…see you in a bit?” Lana quizzed.
“You’ll see a lot of me in a bit.” Clark teased. He had changed…but Lana liked Clark’s new boldness.
“Okay.” Lana had a cheesy grin on her face before exiting down the loft stairs. She felt like she was floating on air.
“Clark, I have a lot of questions about the caves.” Chloe sat down on the red couch and picked up a pen and notebook.
“First, we need to talk about the kiss.” Clark leaned against the window seal of the loft window with his arms enfolded over one another.
“Yes..” Chloe gulped…maybe he did have feelings for her but Lana being back in his life pushed them aside. Perhaps, it was time to face them.
“I don’t know why I let you…or why I even partially responded. I was scared..confused…and even angry that Lana could move on. BUT…I never have cared for you in that way.” Clark walked over and sat beside her. “I’ve come to think of you similar to a little sister. That kiss just pounded that fact in my head even more. I thought it might be easier with a girl who knew all about me…something like Alicia.” Clark ran his hand through his hair.
“The fact is , I can’t see myself with any one but Lana. I just can’t. You know my secret by default, Chloe. I didn’t tell you until I had no choice. Similar to Pete…but Lana I told because I wanted to. I may have taken that day away. However, the fact still remains. I told her willingly.”
“I know. I have to admit.” Chloe broadened her smile until her red gums appeared. “I’m relieved. Something about us sharing a friendship lately took all the hotness out of that. I thought the kiss was awkward and even…gross.”
“Gross?” Clark chuckled.
“Oh please…you kissed my chin. I kissed your upper lip...NOW that was kissing like cousins.” Chloe giggled. “Besides, I kind of met someone.”
“Oh really.” Clark smiled as he pulled her into a brotherly hug.
“Well…actually, met again. I guy I met at an internship in high school. Jimmy Oleson. He's nice.” Chloe rubbed her hands down her pants.
“Well then..what if I came back all in love with you because of the thrill of that kiss.” Clark teased.
“If you did…desperation has set in…and I would have to have broke your heart.” Chloe winked.
“Good. I think I’d prefer Lana’s lips to your chin.” Clark unwrapped his arm from Chloe’s shoulder. He walked to the window and stared out. Suddenly, he became serious.
“What's wrong?” Chloe stood up and moved over to Clark.
“Lana….she will need your friendship, Chloe.” Clark sighed.
“Clark…is she in a lot of danger?” Chloe didn’t want her friend hurt. This past month had put them into a great friendship again.
“Not how she thinks. She will be facing her deepest fear.” Clark blinked trying to think of a way out of this but there was none. He knew it.
“Tell me.” Chloe insisted touching Clark’s arm.
“No. Lana will need to know that you were a friend and didn’t know.” Clark breathed in. His chest heaving with confusion and reality of the situation at the same time. “I have come to acknowledgement that I have to save this planet from Zod. It can’t end up like Krypton. Lana is the only way. I just don’t want to sacrifice her very soul for this.”
“Then don’t!” Chloe pushed at Clark’s chest in anger.
“You don’t understand. One may have to be sacrificed to save many. Without her help…Earth is lost. Therefore, Lana will be dead with the rest of you. We will cease to exist if Zod is not stopped.” Clark turned from Chloe’s accusing glare.
“You will let her die! You love her but you’ll let her die!” Chloe was now sobbing angrily.
Clark never looked Chloe’s way. He just stated the facts. “Lana won’t die, Chloe. There is a reason why Zod , a hater of humans, didn’t kill Lana.”
Part 20
“Hello.” Lana brazenly walked inside the Luthor mansion and poured herself a scotch.
“Ms. Lang.” Zod stared. “I thought you were busy with Kal-el.” He smirked.
“I was. Very busy.” Lana chuckled a little before downing her drink burning her throat at the sting of her drink.
“OH….I don’t want details. Or do I?” Zod grinned mischievously as he pulled Lana to him.
“No. You don’t want details.” Lana pushed at Zod and walked past him while dancing her finger on his chest.
“Tell me something that will keep you alive.” Zod stated malevolently.
“You know I’d kneel before you but what would the staff think with Lana Lang kneeling before her boyfriend. I will say that I’ve convinced Kal-el to go to the Fortress of Solitude. Just as you asked me to do. I will say the boy is very much in love with me. He is the same Clark Kent. Always so doting of Lana Lang.” Lana grinned mischievously against the rim of her glass.
“You are quite the manipulator aren’t you, Ms. Lang. Why should I believe you?”Zod questioned as he sat in his large leather chair.
“Because…you know me…deep down..” Lana sat on the desk and crossed her legs seductively. “You know who I really am.” Lana licked her lips.
“I do.” Zod arched his eyebrow. He then traced his fingers along Lana’s bare leg.
“You do. The power is intoxicating.” Lana leaned in and nipped at Zod’s lips. Zod pulled her into a heavy kiss. Lana pushed back with a giggle.
“Play time will come after we finish our mission. We must have the power first.” Lana slid off the desk and sauntered out the door.
Zod laughed. The human female was intriguing but he knew deep down she craved power. It was in her blood.
Clark paced back and forth across the loft. Lana was late. Why did he let her go?
“Clark.” Lana’s soft voice broke the silence.
“Lana.” Relief spread across his face as he ran to her. He embraced her tightly. “ I was so worried.”
“Clark, you have to trust me.” Lana ran her hand across his cheek. “Zod fell for it.”
“I just…” Clark pulled her close.
“What?” Lana leaned in breathing in Clark’s scent. It was nice being this close to him.
The feeling never grew old.
“Nothing. Just know I love you.” Clark captured Lana’s lips with his.
He darted his tongue into her mouth. She responded equally. Clark’s fear of this moment not lasting after the demise of Zod played in his mind. Lana felt him pick her up into his arms. He pushed her against the wooden walls of the loft as he thrust lustifully against her. Clark needed to feel her with him in the most intimate of ways. To feel she belonged in his arms and no one elses.
Clark pushed Lana's tendrils of hair out of her face. Sweat beaded on his forehead as Lana returned the favor by running her finger to push his locks aside.
Clark seemed so determined to let the physical show his emotional. He continued to ravish Lana's body with his esquisite touches. Lana could feel Clark's lovemaking had an agenda...the agenda was to prove something to himself.
“Clark.” Lana pulled back to look at him.
“Yes.” Clark whispered.
“I love you too.”

Part 21
“Are you cold?” Clark ran his hands up and down Lana’s arms to add heat.
“Not really.” Lana sighed looking around at the ice crystal structure. “I remember the dream. You flew me…or jumped up there.” Lana pointed to the top of one of the crystal structures. Soft snow peppered her hair.
“Yeah. The dream was real to me, Lana.” Clark ran his finger across Lana’s cheek stopping only to outline her lips.
“I know. It's becoming real to me too.” Lana shivered as wind lapped at her hair.
“I can use heat vision if you're cold.” Clark smiled sideways before kissing Lana’s forehead.
“No…I’m just nervous. What am I supposed to do again?” Lana swallowed as she looked around.
“Well, you already have Zod coming in a few minutes. You just need to stand over there.” Clark closed his eyes. “You’ll know what to do when the time comes. I promise.”
Lana shook her head as she stepped behind the crystal console awaiting Zod.
“Hello, Kal-el.” Zod’s voice echoed through the fortress with a thunderous tone. “I see my lady has lured you here.” Zod smiled with an arrogance befitting a demon.
“You’ll not survive, Zod. I have all the POWER.” Clark’s voice was commanding as well.
“Power is that right? Power in the house of El. NEVER. You are even weakened by the house of Zod. Admit it.” Zod reared back and laughed as he floated in the air.
Clark knew he couldn’t fly. But fighting this being can be won. If only the bait is taken. “I’m not weak for anything, Zod. Unlike you…I have the POWER.”
Clark jumped with all his might knocking Zod into the structure shaking it beneath him. Zod slid down to a slump upon the ground.
Lana watched amazed as both men battled. Clark seemed to be the weaker of the two as Zod hovered while Clark jumped. She wanted desperately to help Clark but was unsure how. She just waited as she noticed Clark look her way. Smiling weakly.
Clark slumped over holding his abdomen as Zod pounded his fist into him. Clark reacted with a kick to Zod’s face sending him spiraling into the outer wall. Zod zoomed up from his slouched position and grabbed Clark by the neck. He rocketed up high above the ground.
Clinching Clark’s neck, Zod stated. “I have the POWER Kal-el…Me and the house of Zod!”
Suddenly, Lana felt her body tingle. POWER….the word seemed to echo through her mind. POWER…Knowledge of Power. It all was here for her taking. Lana’s eyes glowed purple as she laughed evilly.
Flying through the air, Isobel hovered beside of Zod. “ I plan on having all the Power, Zod.”
“Isobel, I never doubted you would come. I can’t harm Clark with Kryptonite because the Fortress will only neutralize it. Only magic can defeat him. Only you…a descendant of Zod can defeat the descendant of Jor-el.” Zod glared at Clark with menace. “I told you that you have a weakness for the house of Zod. Lana Lang is my descendant.”
Clark breathed in. “I have the power.” He just stared. “ I dare you to take it…..descendant of Zod.”
Isobel gritted her teeth. “Fair enough, farm boy. I do like playing games with you.” Lana grabbed Clark from Zod’s hands and threw him against the side of the Fortress. Clark’s head hit as his mouth spewed out blood.
“Very well.” Zod chortled.
“Oh…please….Do you actually think I’d let you share in my power? You are as insignificant as the boy.” Isobel cackled. "You only make this body feel ill….well, the body you inhabit does. Take a close look Zod…the son of Kal-el pleases this body where your chosen body does not.” Isobel scraped her fingers down Zod scratching his face. Blood trickled.
Isobel licked the blood from her finger tips. Then she spit. “Tastes like cowardice.”
“Don’t turn on me, descendant of Zod.” Zod started to strike her but Lana grabbed his hand.
“Do you honestly think a descendant of yours has any decency in them? Please. You have corrupted the blood line. Now enjoy the evil that you have begotten.” Isobel swooped down and grabbed Clark by the neck.
“Send him back!” Zod screamed.
“I plan to. Along with you!” Isobel grabbed Zod’s neck. She peered at Clark. A desire burned in her for him. A desire to touch him as a lover. To seek gratification from the body she held. Isobel loosened Clark’s neck and allowed him to drop. She then smiled at Zod.
“The son of Jor-el has weakened you enough for me to be victorious.” Isobel slammed her palm into Zod’s chest as the glow emanated from his body..
“Go back to your prison of H*ll!.” Isobel threw her head back as she evilly chuckled. Soon Lex’s body disappeared as Zod’s spirit was sent back to the phantom zone.
Soon Isobel was beside of Clark. “ I want you, Kal-el.” She stated lustfully.
“You’re not Lana. You’re Isobel.” Clark could feel his desire for her but he wanted Lana…not Isobel.
“Yes. However, until I get what I want. She will not be transferred back.” Isobel laughed sexily.
Clark gulped. “ What about the power?”
“You knew better Clark Kent….Kal-el…whatever you prefer. As Zod left the body of the human…I felt the reality of it. If you die…..the power dies with you. The Fortress of knowledge is no more. Therefore, why not have a little bit of fun with my descendant's body. How does it feel to know that the house of El and the house of Zod have become one..and even the first for each other?”Isobel moved over to Clark. She touched his skin on his chest. She twirled her finger delighted at the tingling sensation in her fingertips.
“I love Lana.” Clark whispered.
“Of course you do. But you knew this all was going to happen. You knew Lana was going to become inhabited by me. As a matter of fact, you counted on it. You gambled her soul to save humanity. Now gamble your love by allowing me the pleasure of you and I will give her back.” Isobel kissed down Clark’s neck.
Clark rolled his eyes back as he leaned his head back allowing Isobel better access to his neck.
“Kal-el wouldn’t mind a little Isobel action. Now would he?” Isobel laughed.
“No, I don’t think he would.” Kal-el grinned naughtily as he pulled Isobel in to a kiss. “Will Lana remember?”
“Yes.” Isobel leaned and sucked in the skin on Kal-el’s neck. “She’ll be ashamed of what we do..so aggressive is this body when she lets it go….the only problem with the demure Lana and Clark is they won’t allow themselves to be naughty” Isobel pushed Kal-el against the console. “Making love in your daddy’s house. Rebellion. . Let’s show the kids how to have some fun.”
“Let’s.” Kal-el grinned. Or was it Clark..considering he was both now. Lana was going to kill him.

Wow! Two updates for the price of one ($0.00).
Since I know absolutely nothing about any spoilers, I'll just proceed. :\
Good for Chloe to defend Lana! I was surprised that Isobel was a descendent of Zod instead of El - I think that was a pretty good twist that I've never seen before.
I'm just unsure that Clark/Kal can trust her with Lana's body.
Even if Lana does get her body back, can she ever forgive Clark?

Part 22
Clark’s body slammed hard into the ice wall behind him. “Easy.” He said as he felt the pain shoot up his spine.
“You don’t want it easy. You never have…Everything with you has to be difficult. Why should love making be any different?” Isobel scraped at Clark’s chest leaving distinguished scratches along the way.
“Love making?” Clark smirked as he pulled her legs around his waist. “I only make love to Lana.”
“You’ve only been with Lana….this body. Just pretend I’m her.” Isobel bit his ear lobe and sucked.
“Not here.” Clark could feel Isobel’s legs tighten around him. It was exciting to feel the pain of her power but not to Clark. Kal-el ,on the other hand, wanted this primal need met. The sooner the better.
“Come on! Why not?” Isobel protested entwining Clark’s hair in her fingers and pulling harshly. “You like it rough. I can tell.” Isobel giggled as she looked down below Clark’s waist.
“Maybe.” Clark teased. “Bring Lana back….and we’ll see.”
“Right! I’m not naïve, Kal-el.” Isobel grinned. “You won’t make love to me…or have sex.” She reared her head back and laughed.
“Then let me have Lana.” Clark squeezed Isobel’s thighs. No. He wouldn’t make love to her. But this body of Lana’s was really tempting.
“You knew.” Isobel leaned in to whisper. “You knew how much Lana wants this body of yours. How much desire she feels. You made sure to make love to her over and over before this day. See. What Lana didn’t know is it was your plan to seduce me.”
Clark just stared intently at her. Isobel had it right. He figured she would have Lana’s thoughts and desires just like before. Clark also figured that Isobel would ignore Lana’s love for him….but not lust. He had banked on her not killing him for the wanting of him. It worked. But now what? Was he betraying Lana if he allowed this? Just because it was her body…it wasn’t her.
“I knew. But I don’t want to make love here. I want to be somewhere less cold.” Clark raked his finger across Isobel’s face. He loved Lana too much to betray her.
“Tell me the truth and maybe we will go somewhere else.” Isobel seductively nipped at Clark’s lips.
“I asked Lana to marry me here. I just…” Clark breathed in deeply.
“Fine. I don’t want her ruining my good time.” Isobel squeezed her legs tighter around Clark. “Take us to the Kent farm.”
Clark hoped he could get in contact with Chloe on how to rid Lana of this possession. He had hoped she would have came up with that by now but with all the studies of Lana’s heritage. That was a mystery.
Clark sped to the loft and sat Isobel down. She walked around touching the desk.... the couch. Slowly and seductively, she glared at Clark. He could feel the heat rising in his body. She walked up to him.
She whispered slowly….sensually. “Take me.”
Clark allowed Isobel to kiss him. Her tongue parting his lips and delving in his mouth. He slid his hand up the front of Lana’s body. Touching her as his hands shook with desire. He unbuttoned her blouse and let it fall to the floor below. Clark traced his finger over her black lacy bra. Lana rarely dressed this way. Did she sense Isobel?
Isobel took off Clark’s shirt with a jerk. Nothing slow …but a rip and it was gone. She bit her lip and narrowed her eyes when she saw his body. “This is better than I remember.”
Clark placed his hands on the edge of Lana’s jeans. He twirled his thumb around the bare skin of her waist. His index finger diving below the waist line. Clark traced the edge of her jeans with his fingers until he met the point of the opening button. He popped it then unzipped her pants.
Clark’s body beaded with sweat. He wanted her so much. He needed to touch her like this. In a way, that he could never touch Lana without hurting her. Just to allow himself to let go. To lose all control. As if Isobel read his thoughts, she leaned in and bit him hard on the neck. Clark winced at the feeling of the pain.
“I can take your powers.” She hissed.
The realization that this was not Lana hit him. He stopped. Although his body and actions were betraying him. His heart couldn’t.
“I can’t betray Lana. I love her.” He whispered when his head touched her forehead.
His heated breath fell on Isobel’s cheeks. She was becoming flustered. She allowed him to live and not go to that prison for a reason. And he wasn’t fulfilling that reason. She wondered if she stripped him of all his powers like before if she could just take him.
No…she wasn’t into forcing him. She bit her lip contemplating. She had to have this farm boy. It was all she wanted at this moment. Even power didn’t seem as enticing. Or maybe it was power. Power in dominating this body she possessed as she allowed the pleasure of this man.
Power in making him fulfill her desires with his own. Power in the most intimate sense of becoming one with this man…this gorgeous creature that possessed abilities beyond humanity…yet quickened the blood in her body to be near him. To want him was a need. Obviously, residue of the thoughts of Lana Lang. It didn’t matter. Isobel wanted the power that came when Clark made love to Lana. The power of feeling his heartbeat match the rhythm of this body. To lay after with panted breath. She wanted to feel as Lana’s memory taught her. She wanted to feel empowered by Clark Kent’s love.
“You don’t want me….but Kal does. Not the Kryptonian but the rebellious one.” Isobel pulled out the red bracelet laced with red Kryptonite.
“What…where?” Clark felt his heart beat quicken.
“Lana has dirty thoughts too, Clark. She found this while you were gone. Chloe informed her about the red meteor. She was curious. She just didn’t have the guts to use it. Of course, she thought about asking you if she could…if it was dangerous.” Isobel licked her lips. “Let’s see if it is.”
She pulled Clark’s hand to her. Touching her with his hand she slid the bracelet on. Clark swallowed as he felt his inhibitions leave.
“So, Isobel. Where do you want to begin? The couch or the desk?”
Part 23
Lana lay with a sheet pulled over her body. She opened her eyes and peered down her body. She only wore Clark’s shirt. Lana blinked her eyes trying to register where she was. She noticed the desk. The newspaper articles hanging on the bulletin board…the bubbly blonde with a towel wrapped around her.
“Chloe?” Lana ran her hand over her aching head as she sat up. “What is going on? Why are we back at the dorm?”
“Classes are going to resume next week. The chaos is over. Thanks to Lex. Well at least that’s what the world thinks.” Chloe sat down beside Lana on the bed. “He’s a hero. Lionel found him in the field where Zod actually took over his body. Memory wipe..Go figure. He just took all the glory as usual. Zod created the chaos. Began to fix it in Lex‘s name…and Lex accepted the glory.”
Lana sat up beside Chloe. Tears pricked her eyes. “I….I raped him.”
“What? You raped who? Lex? Gross.” Chloe raised her left eyebrow confused.
Lana placed her head in her hands. She cried as she shook her head back and forth. “No. Clark.”
“News flash, Lana. Clark can’t be raped by you. He kind of likes what you two do in that capacity.” Chloe ran her hand in circles around Lana’s back.
“No..No..” Lana sniffed. “Isobel used Red Kryptonite. He and her….She..” Lana gulped and swallowed. “I have to get that bracelet!”
“This bracelet.” Chloe handed it to her. “You had it in your hand when I came in this morning. Do you remember anything?”
“Oh..I remember taking it off now..Well, Isobel did. After!…of course, she waited until after. Chloe, I remember all the times Isobel took over. I hurt Clark really bad before. He knew it. He knew I could have killed him as Isobel. How could he allow this? Plan it even?” Lana pulled a tissue from out of the box sniffing in it.
Then she leaned back. Suddenly, things were becoming more clear. “Clark is a jerk.”
“Whoa! Where did that come from?” Chloe stood up and sat in the desk chair.
“He made love to Isobel! I’m not Isobel.” Lana stated vehemently.
“Well…it’s your body.” Chloe was more confused as Lana spoke. “And the bracelet.”
“This bracelet. This bracelet!” Lana threw it across the room. “He allowed Isobel to put it on him. He didn’t want to feel guilty but he wanted to have sex with her!”
“You.” Chloe pointed to her.
“No..Isobel. He wanted to be Super stud for a day. I’m such a jerk…He's a moron.” Lana had fresh angry tears now. “Clark knew what Isobel would want when this was over. What if I had killed him? I mean….what if I didn’t stop and killed him!? How could Clark take that chance? He would have allowed me to live with that. And I would maybe remained Isobel.”
“Clark has had me checking about getting Isobel from your body. It seems that if your will power out does hers. She can’t possess you if you overpower her thoughts with your own. That must be how she left. When you finally went to sleep…well your body…it seems your unconscious state allowed you to have the strength to come back and put Isobel aside. Also, unless Isobel is needed like at the fortress…You won’t let her come back. You’re stronger because of this. It may have been a big chance but it worked out. The world is safe because of you.” Chloe explained as she pulled on her clothes.
“Clark’s going to be disappointed that he can’t have more time with Isobel.” Lana stated sarcastically.
“Are you going to stay mad at him?” Chloe shook her head and placed her hands on her hips.
“He cheated on me!” Lana pulled off his shirt and stomped towards the bathroom. “And…I was willing to die to save this world! But I was not willing to kill Clark! He knew I wouldn’t agree to being evil!”
Lana slammed the door to the bathroom. She started the shower. When she finally stepped in the spray of the water, she allowed harsh sobbing to come. Clark had cheated on her no matter how any one looked at it. He allowed the bracelet to placed on his wrist without a fight. He could have at least tried to resist. However, deep down the reality that he wanted to be uninhibited and to forget control plagued Lana.
Another thing that plagued her was how she felt as Isobel. Carefree and intoxicated with power. Lana was angry at Clark allowing her to feel these things. Partly, she was angry at herself for finding those feelings enticing. Lana now knew that deep down inside her…ran the blood of Clark’s enemy. That scared her….
She was a descendant of Zod.

Part 23
“Is Lana here?” Clark peeked around the door. He looked like a dog guilty of getting in the family dinner.
“Yes.” Chloe picked up her notes and headed for the door. “She’s madder than a wet hen.”
“Chloe, that’s one of Dad’s old sayings.” Clark shook his head then stepped through the door.
“It seems to fit. You better put that charm to good use.” Chloe stated as she watched Clark throw his jacket on the bed. “Mmmmm. That new style should help.”
“What?” Clark frowned.
“Black is sexy. Your new bold attitude may help too. She can’t resist you. Better work it.” Chloe slapped Clark on the behind as she walked out the door. “Now off to see my Jimmy.”
No sooner than the door had closed, Lana came walking from the bathroom in a fresh towel. Her hair hung in wet tendrils streaming water down her shoulders.
“What are you doing here?” Lana sauntered past Clark glaring at him angrily.
“Are you mad at me?” Clark tried to act innocent. However, he knew Lana had every right to be mad.
“YOU cheated on me!” Lana screamed as she turned from Clark. She didn’t want him to see her tears.
“No..Baby, I didn’t.” Clark placed his large hands on Lana’s petite shoulders. He pushed the hair from his destination. Leaning down, he sucked the wetness from one shoulder.
“Stop. You cheated. You could have at least resisted.” Lana whimpered.
“I didn’t want to resist.” Clark admitted. He felt Lana tense up below his hands. He leaned and licked her neck. Then his hot breath hit her shoulder again. “Isobel said you’d remember. I made sure. I didn’t want to be inhibited with you. I wanted you to see how much I desire you. How much I truly want to make love to this body. I was always holding back…” Clark slid his hand down Lana’s arm to her fingers. He pulled her fingers to his mouth. Taking in one finger, he sucked it slowly.
“Stop.” It was a weak moan. Not really very convincing on Lana’s part.
“ holding back with fear I could hurt this perfect body of yours. This body that only can only please me because the woman that owns it.” Clark whispered in Lana’s ear. He ran his tongue along the form of her ear to the earlobe.
“This body that belongs to the woman I love. The only woman that can make me weak…” Clark placed his hand on Lana’s hip pushing up her towel to expose her tanned thigh. His hand kneaded her skins softly with his seductive touch.
“I wanted you to remember how I could lose control with you.” Clark’s hand moved along Lana's moist skin.
Lana gulped. “It..it wasn’t that different, Clark.” Lana whispered.
“Exactly, I always lose control with you, Lana. I never hold back.” Clark pulled her back towards him. Touching her body to his. “You doubted that….but now you know. I make love to you with my entire being.”
“I love you.” She allowed tears to flow down her cheeks. She wasn’t sure that forgiveness was supposed to come this easy. He deserved to be punished. His being with Isobel was naughty and dirty…until they actually joined in the lovemaking. Then Clark made love to her as he always did. Slowly…tenderly….lovingly.
“Forgive me for letting Isobel drug me. I couldn’t betray you. I never will.” Clark pulled off Lana’s towel exposing her moist body. “I had to make sure you came back to me. Life without you isn’t worth living.”
“I’m afraid.” Lana leaned into Clark more. She was unashamed of her nudeness. It seemed natural with Clark.
“Of me?” Clark ran his fingers down her body. His fingertips touched her softly.
“No.” Lana gulped . “OF ME.”
“We all have a dark side, Lana.” Clark continued his tenacious strokes of his fingers on Lana’s heated skin. “Mine comes out when I am around red Kryptonite. However, it is a part of who I am..I choose to control.”
“What if I can’t control…the darkness?” Lana leaned her head back against Clark’s chest. She rolled her eyes at the satisfaction he was tantalizing her body with.
“You proved you can already. You came back on your own. You took off that bracelet. Not Isobel.” Clark turned her to face him. He reached up and stroked her cheek. “You fell asleep in my arms.”
“You brought me back to the dorm…why?”Lana looked into his sea green eyes awaiting an answer.
“So you’d wake up feeling whatever emotion you needed to feel. Without me there to stop your anger or cause more pain. I know you felt cheated on…But I knew more that you had to face your demons alone…of feeling free as Isobel.” Clark swallowed. He knew the exhilaration of being Kal. Lana deserved a chance to face that fact as he had to face his.
“I don’t want to like that feeling…of being able to not answer to anyone.” Lana practically climbed up Clark’s body to wrap her legs around his waist.
“It's normal…We have to decide on the better road with our lives Lana.” Clark smirked. “It is human.’
Lana laughed as she nuzzled into Clark’s neck. “I guess it is.”
Clark took Lana to her bed. He made love to her as Clark….Lana made love to him as well. Both knew that the previous day’s events left doubts in their minds. Lana’s of doubts of Clark as well as herself. Clark doubts of her forgiving him completely or trusting him again. However, the only thing they didn’t doubt was being in love. The only truth they both were sure about.

I guess 'cheating' really is a problem when you are possessed.

What is it going to take for Lana to give her trust fully to Clark once more?

Part 24
“I was wanting to know if you wanted to go out tonight?” Lex sauntered in Lana’s dorm room as if he owned the place.
“I’m surprised you’re here.” Lana shut the door behind him. Lana felt anxious he was there. She had not seen him since he was found in the field. How could she explain herself? It had been a week.
"I'm sorry I never came by. I didn't want to intrude on your recovery. In case, you were really busy putting things back together."
“Why? The last I remember you and I were getting pretty close.” Lex snaked his arms around Lana’s waist from the back and kissed her neck.
“Lex..” Lana pulled away. “Do you remember being…him?” Lana fidgeted with her hair. She had manipulated the relationship with Lex to find out about Clark. Now that she knew….how was she going to put a stop to this charade?
“No. I just remember waking up in that field. I remember a feeling of overwhelming power. However, I don’t remember from where or exactly what I did when possessing that power. I do remember …..you wanting to be with me.” Lex rubbed his bald head as he sat down on Lana’ bed.
Lana sat beside of him. She took his hand. “I care for you.”
“Why do I feel more is coming from that statement?” Lex rubbed his finger on Lana’s hand.
“I’m just wanting to go slow. To build up a friendship…the other romantic feelings I was indulging in. Well, frankly, I wasn’t being fair to either of us.” Lana admitted. She wasn’t being fair considering she was using him. That wasn’t like her to use people.
However, she was so desperate to get to Clark’s secret so she could have him back in her life, she used Lex. She became calculating and manipulative. After her little stint as Isobel, Lana didn’t want to ever play on the dark side. That included with Lex Luthor.
“Why? I enjoyed us getting closer in that way.” Lex pushed Lana’s hair behind her ear.
“Because, I just wanted a truthful relationship. You were giving me that. Clark pushed me away and I ran to you for what he couldn’t give me.” Lana stood up and walked to her desk.
“Are you saying I was your rebound guy?” Lex had an edge of anger in his voice. Lana noticed but didn’t want to comment on that.
“No. I’m saying. I need to distance myself from being involved romantically in any relationship. It happened too quickly. I had problems wrapping my true thoughts and feelings around us. You felt safe…as if you could never hurt me.” Lana looked down as she twirled a pencil on the desk in a spinning motion.
Lex stood he walked up to her. “I would never hurt you. Clark is the one that hurt you. NOT me. I know how lucky I am to have you…unlike, Clark.”
Lana truthfully wanted to break all ties with Lex. But what if he knew anything about Clark. She wasn’t really using Lex. She’d try to remain a friend. If she found out any information Lex knew of Clark, it would be an added bonus.
Lex bent down to kiss Lana’s lips. Lana began to pull away but before she could their lips collided. Lana started to push him off but the kiss was forceful and filled with obvious want from Lex. Lana pushed gently at his chest not wanting to offend him. However, Chloe and Jimmy walked through the door followed by Clark.
“Uuuh. Sorry. We’ll come back.” Chloe grabbed Jimmy’s arm and attempted to grab Clark’s.
“To H#!! we will.” Clark stated. “What are you two doing?”
“Clark.” Lana pulled away from Lex. She then walked up to Clark and pushed at his chest. “You chose to break it off. NOT me. What I do and whom I do it with is none of your concern?”
Lana pleaded with her eyes for Clark to follow her lead. Clark glared at Lex. Lex smirked as if he had ownership of Lana.
“Are you going to continue seeing him?” Clark grabbed Lana’s shoulder. It was gentle but she got the message... he wanted to talk.
“That is none of your business.” Lana could see Clark’s chest heaving in and out.
Uh oh! The new and improved Clark that stood up for himself and grew a backbone wasn’t letting this go. Whether he got the hint or not. It didn’t seem to matter. He saw his girl kissing his enemy. That was all that was registering at the moment.
“Chloe, I think we should go. I’ll meet your friends later.” Jimmy fidgeted with his collar. That big guy looked a little angry. Jimmy didn’t like to see angry people. Especially big angry people.
“Clark…maybe you should come with us.” Chloe suggested tugging on Clark’s arm. Clark jerked away.
Jimmy leaned over and whispered.. “I don’t think I’d be grabbing the angry giant right now.”
Clark shot Jimmy a look. Did the guy hear him? No…he whispered too low. But why take chances. Jimmy grabbed Chloe and pulled her towards the door. Lana’s eyes pleaded for Chloe’s help. Lex’s head would be the next cue ball on the school’s pool table if Clark had anything to do with it. Both girls could sense it.
“Lex, why don’t you let Lana and Clark talk this out?” Chloe swallowed. “I’d really like an interview for the Daily Planet about the wonderful things you’ve accomplished. Jimmy takes wonderful photos. What do you say?”
“Lana?” Lex rubbed down Lana’s arm. He had no idea how close he was coming to losing that hand to searing heat vision.
“Go. I think I need to set a few things straight with Clark.” Lana assured him.
Lex, Chloe and Jimmy walked from the room. Lana shut the door. She shook her head at her big jealous alien.
Lana pushed Clark down on the bed until he was sitting.
“I don’t want him touching you.” Clark stated.
“Oh,Baby.” Lana placed one knee on the bed. She put her hand in his hair and pulled him backwards as she pushed against his chest with her other knee and hand. “I told him I wanted to just be friends.”
“I don’t want you to be friends with him. He’s dangerous.” Clark bit his lip when Lana placed the other knee on the side of his other thigh…straddling him.
“Yeah. But he could hurt my man. Now why would I want him to hurt this wonderful..” Lana leaned and kissed Clark’s neck. Then she twirled her tongue on his opening in his shirt. “boyfriend.” A flicker of tongue. “of mine.” Lana started to slowly unbutton Clark’s shirt. “when if he knows…” sucking in skin. “anything.” more buttons undone. “I can find out.”
“Do you think your seducing me will make me forget his lips on yours? Do you think I’ll behave and let you befriend Lex without a fight?” Clark breathed in deeply.
“Maybe. Is it working?” Lana captured Clark’s lips with her own.
“Mmmhmmmm.” He mumbled.

Part 25
“So how did you manage to keep this thing that inhabited my body from harming you?” Lex handed Lana a glass of wine.
Lana looked at her glass. She didn’t drink. She was only nineteen soon to be twenty. Then she thought about the situation. She had partaken in drink while Zod was inhabiting Lex. How much did he remember?
“I don’t think I want any.” Lana placed the drink down. “I stayed away mostly.”
“I would think that Zod would want you around.” Lex teased as he ran his hand up Lana’s arm.
“Stop.” Lana said too abruptly.
“Lana?” Lex furrowed his eyebrows. “Is something wrong?”
“I told you a friendship is all I want.” Lana sighed. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have led you on. I mean…I’m still in love with Clark.” Lana readily admitted that truth.
“I see.” Lex stood up. He stopped in front of the fireplace staring at the flames.
Lana gulped as she remembered the dream. The sweet and bitter of it. The dream that was a day erased from her. The day she died. The day she became Clark’s fiancé. Lana blinked back tears. If only, Clark would have relived that day but warned her of Lex. She and he would be planning a wedding.
“I don’t want to lie to you or myself any more.” Lana walked up to the mantle. She placed her hand on Lex’s shoulder. “You’re my friend.”
Lex just stared at her studying her beautiful face. “Why? Why are you so infatuated with that boy? He is just a farm boy, Lana. Or is there more to him that makes him special?”
“You don’t understand at all. Do you?” Lana shook her head. “I fell in love with that farm boy. That is all it took to make him special to me. Don’t you remember the friendship, Lex? How great you and he were as friends?”
Lana desperately wanted to repair Lex before it was too late. She knew the feeling of being empowered by her dark side. A side she would fight to keep under control. Perhaps, Lex should be given the same chance. Lex turned from her clinching his jaw tightly.
“I think Clark’s lies are his down fall to being trusted as a friend.” Lex closed his eyes. “Look at how much he withholds from you. He admitted he doesn’t love you…” Lex hesitated. He then turned back to Lana stroking her cheek with his thumb. “After he took your innocence.”
Lana felt angry yet embarrassed. It wasn’t appropriate for Lex to bring up her and Clark’s intimacy. Lana sighed then pulled away.
“He lied.” Lana bit her lip.
“Excuse me?” Lex swallowed the lump that suddenly was choking him.
“Clark and I talked.” Lana closed her eyes. “He admitted he still loves me.”
“What made him realize his stupidity?” Lex clinched his teeth as well as balled up his fists.
“The chaos I guess. When the world seemed to be ending….we both realized how much we really cared for one another. We are in love, Lex.” Lana walked to retrieve her purse.
“What happened to wanting not to be in any relationship?” Lex stated sardonically.
“Clark happened.” Lana said as she walked out the door.
Lex threw his glass of wine into the fire. He stared as he leaned with his hand on the mantle. Clark Kent had won again. But for how long could he keep winning against Lex’s money and power?
“My, my. Having a bad day?” Lionel questioned as he entered the room. He marched to the bar and poured himself a brandy. “I see your girlfriend was visiting.”
“Lana is no longer my girlfriend. It seems Clark has won her heart once again.” Lex waited to be teased and taunted by his father.
“I thought I saw her vehicle at the Kent farm. It was there all weekend.” Lionel smirked as he sipped his brandy.
“How would you know this?” Lex questioned. He then sat in his large leather office chair.
“Haven’t you heard the saying, my son?” Lionel folded his arms. “Keep your friends close. But your enemies closer.”
“Are the Kents your friends or your enemies?” Lex threw his feet on the desk and crossed them.
“A man like me has no friends. ” Lionel grinned maliciously.
“Really? So I’m not your friend?” Lex folded his arms in front of him.
“No, Lex, you’re my son. Besides, allies don’t have to be friends.” Lionel placed his drink down as he sauntered out of the room.
Lex studied him as he left. Did his father mean he was an ally or the Kents?
******************
“Hi.” Clark pulled Lana towards him when she walked through the kitchen door.
“I think Lex knows more than he is telling.” Lana wrapped her arms around Clark’s neck. “I’m worried.”
“Don’t be.” Clark leaned down and kissed her forehead. “I can take care of myself.”
“Question is…” Lana smiled naughtily. “can you take care of me?”
“In so many ways.” Clark ran his hand up Lana’s shirt.
“Excuse me.” Martha cleared her throat.
“Oh, Martha. I didn‘t see you there.” Lana blushed.
“Lois and Chloe are coming over for dinner.”
“Lois.” Clark whined. “ I thought she left.”
“The General pulled a few strings. Lois is entering the next term at Met U. She discussed her future with her father and…” Martha said.
“And realized she has none.” Clark retorted.
“Clark!” Lana reprimanded but couldn’t help but stifle a giggle. There was something refreshing knowing Clark couldn’t stand Lois. One less girl to worry about wanting her man.
“Actually, that is what Lois was thinking. She lucked into us Kents. So she is planning on changing her life.” Martha started setting the table.
“Good for her.” Lana picked up some place mats. “Can I help you with dinner?”
“No.” Clark protested. “We were headed up stairs to finish what you started.”
“Clark Kent.” Martha’s mouth dropped open.
“Come on, Mom.” Clark kissed her cheek. “We’ll try to be quiet.”
“Clark Kent!” This time Lana was the one shocked.
“Get him out of here before he gets in trouble.” Martha’s face reddened. However, she smiled. It was nice to see Clark so relaxed. Perhaps, too relaxed.
“ I can’t believe you said that.” Lana whispered as she headed up stairs with Clark.
Clark puckered up then stated. “Well I couldn’t say we would definitely be quiet. You’re a screamer.”

A/N I am posting part 26 (alone) in the adult section. Let me explain. I reread it...and although it doesn't have explicit skin. The update does have heavy sexual content. It can be skipped over. However, my readers on the other site liked the update.
Therefore, those that want can go there and read...those that do not may skip to next chapter 27 which I'll post as soon as I get at least two replies so I don't have to double post. DEAL!
Some of the chapters I have edited to make the pg-13 rating but I don't think chapter 26 can be....sorry. Like I said, it can be skipped and plot still remain in content.

Part 27
“Clark, do you have a second to talk?” Martha placed a plate of cookies on the tractor.
“This must be serious.” Clark tossed the ratchet into the old toolbox.
“What makes you think that?” Martha leaned against the wooden beam adjacent the tractor.
Clark picked up a cookie and took a bite. He then wiped his mouth on the back of his hand. “ Homemade chocolate chip cookies was a dead give away.”
“Well.” Martha raked down the front of her kaki dress pants. “It’s your new cavalier attitude.”
“What about it? I’m not a kid, Mom.” Clark leaned back against the tractor crossing his hands in front of him.
“You’re nineteen. You have a lot of life to experience.” Martha bit at her cheek trying to think how to talk to him.
“You don’t know my age, Mom. I don’t really know how long I was there….in that horrid place. Time was different there.” Clark looked down at the earth below him. The soil on the barn floor reminded him of a simpler time…before he knew his origins.
“Okay. But..Lana and you. I mean you two are moving fast in this relationship. It's very physical.” Martha blushed at her own words.
“I just discovered I could have sex with a woman without blowing her across the room. It is kind of exciting.” Clark raised his eyebrow.
“Clark! That is exactly what I’m talking about. I’m your mother.” Martha shook her head not approving of her child.
“I’m just teasing.” Clark wrapped his arms around his mother. “I’m just tired of being shy and …”
“And…” Martha looked up at her son. Her arms enjoying the warmth of her son. It had been since the death of Jonathan that Clark had embraced her.
“And. I’m tired of sitting back while my life was trampled on by others like Lex.” Clark released Martha. “I don’t really care what the world thinks of me.”
“What about what I think?” Martha’s arms felt suddenly empty and cold.
“I do want you to be proud. I’ll stop the antics around you. Okay? It’s just…the time with Lana makes me feel alive. That place…” Clark swallowed. “That place made me want to welcome death. I don’t want to feel that alone…that overwhelming desire to ….” Clark stopped.
“To what, Clark?” Lana had heard the last of the conversation.
“To end my own life.” Clark closed his eyes.
“No…Never.” Lana rushed to Clark embracing him. “Don’t..ever…feel like that.”
“I have nightmares still. Unless, we’ve been together. Then I put it behind because I know your alive …your heart beating next to my skin. You're alive then..it reminds me that I'm alive.” Clark swallowed feeling tears threatening.
“What did this place do to you?” Martha touched Clark’s face.
“It hardened me. But..” Clark pulled Lana’s chin up to look at him. “as long as I think of you….I’ll be reminded that humanity isn’t bad…life isn’t bad….it is beautiful. You told me once that life could be painful sometimes and beautiful sometimes….sometimes it’s both. Please, Lana. Don’t ever stop reminding me of that.”
Martha watched as her son pulled Lana to him tighter. Clark glanced up to see Martha’s stare. He blinked as a tear rolled down his cheek. He had became a man.
“Thank you, Mom. You and dad gave me so much. Without the memories you both created in my life..without the morals..I could've been like…the terrible Kryptonians that came to destroy. I could’ve been like Lex..loveless and miserable.” Clark swallowed. “I’m sorry if I seemed to have forgotten those morals. Lana and I will be more discreet.”
“I’m sorry too, Mrs. Kent.” Lana squeezed Clark. “I’m just too busy relieved I have him back.”
“It’s okay. Call me Martha by the way. We’ll just have to learn to respect each other. Deal?” Martha started to walk away. Clark pulled her into the hug he was sharing with Lana.
“I’m a lucky man. The most wonderful women in the world are in my life.” Clark kissed Martha’s head then Lana’s. “ Mom, I want you to be here for this.”
Clark pulled away. He swallowed hard. He held out a piece of coal. Lana gasped….she knew from her dream what was coming. Her hand flew over her mouth as Clark bent to one knee. He squeezed the coal never taking his eyes off Lana. Martha stood back as she watched her son transform a piece of coal into a diamond then into a ring. How fitting it seemed?
“Marry me?” He gulped as he placed the ring on Lana’s finger.
“I’d be proud to be your wife.” Lana sobbed as she fell on her knees beside Clark. “I love you.”
Lana’s forehead leaned until it touched Clark’s. They joined hands.
Martha walked out leaving the newly engaged couple to do whatever they planned on doing without her having to think about it.

Part 28
Lana danced twirling around in a circle. As she spun around, she couldn’t help but stare at her engagement ring. She also couldn’t help but to think of the animalistic lovemaking Clark and her shared the night before. Her calling on Isobel…actually, it wasn’t Isobel. It was more of Purple Lana. She giggled at the term Clark had given her. He said when he was on Red K…he thought of himself as Red Clark.
Purple Lana…if she hadn’t called on the magics within her, she’d have been purple mixed with black and blue. Clark was very assertive. That was putting it mildly.
Luckily, Clark preferred the lovemaking to Lana. Slow and tender with her in mind. Gentle as well as seductive was her man. But he needed the loss of control last night. Lana was glad to oblige in any way she could.
Lana spun around as she jiggled seductively twirling her hips in all the right ways. She would pick up a blouse and stuff it into a suitcase.
Then a thong was pulled out. When did she buy something so risqué? Oh yeah, when Clark was ignoring her advances. She thought she would try to seduce him but never had the guts to go through with the plan. Too bad…because he was rather good at his…uuuuum quests.
Lana spun the thongs around her finger as she danced her body towards the ground as low as she could go then back up.
“Someone is extra joyful today.” Lex’s voice broke her little dance routine.
Lana walked over and shut off the CD player. “Hi…Lex.”
Lana breathed out exhausted from her dance. She stuffed the thong into the suitcase. It may come in handy later.
“Planning a trip?” Lex nodded to the suitcase.
“Not exactly.” Lana remembered the dream. She remembered how angry Lex was about the engagement. Still she wasn’t going to let him ruin her happiness…this time around.
“I’m staying with Clark on and off. I guess since my classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays…I’ll stay with him from Thursday night until Monday night.” Lana never hesitated as she spoke.
“Moving in? As a couple?” Lex furrowed his eyebrows in anger.
“Yes. Very much a couple. Officially soon I hope.” Lana held up her finger showing off her engagement.
“What the H…” Lex gritted angrily. “After all the lies…you still chose him.”
Lana gulped at the memory in the dream. This time was different. She knew Lex to be a bad person.
“I love him, Lex.” Lana smiled coyly.
“Love him! He was with Simone! He told you he didn’t love you.” Lex’s voice was growing louder.
“Simone! He was never ...he never went all the way! How did you know her name?” Lana felt tears burning her eyes at that painful memory of seeing Clark touching another woman. Hypnotized or not…it hurt.
“I was trying to protect. To make you realize how much he would hurt you!” Lex grabbed Lana’s shoulders forcefully. Squeezing her.
“I’m sure you’re congratulating her about our engagement.” Clark’s voice was threatening as well as condescending.
Lex let loose of Lana’s shoulders. He turned around and smirked.
“Congratulations.” Lex stuck out his hand in fake congratulations.
Clark took his hand and squeezed slightly. Lex’s face turned red. Pain going completely up his arm.
“Lana won’t be needing your help investigating any more. Will you, Angel?” Clark let loose of Lex’s very sore hand.
“No, Baby.” Lana tiptoed and kissed Clark sweetly. “I have rearranged my priorities. I have a wedding to plan.”
Lex felt the heat of anger raising in him. But strangely, he felt the fear of Clark more. FEAR equaled loss of power and control. That was not something he was willing to give into..FEAR. Especially fear of a farm boy.
Lex strolled to the door. He turned to look back. His eyes only saw a passionate kiss shared by obvious lovers.
Lex wondered what Clark feared. He knew from all the years of knowing Clark. He feared losing Lana. Having Lana made Lex have the power over Clark. He had Clark’s most desired possession. That is all Lana was to Lex…. A possession..an object to be owned. He had that possession for a short time but Clark ripped her away from him.
That would not do!

Part 29
The smell of spring flowers scented the air. Lana slipped out of bed feeling renewed and happy. Clark had once again made her speechless with his lovemaking.
Today Martha promised to slow down long enough to help start planning the wedding. Nell was even coming to town. It seemed so normal. Lana craved a little normalcy.
“Good morning.” Lana practically bounced down the stairs.
“Morning?” Nell glanced up from the kitchen table. “Try afternoon.”
“Aunt Nell….sorry.” Lana blushed. She wondered how long Martha and Nell had been here.
“Lana! Have you seen my belt. I can’t find my belt.” Clark yelled as he came down the stairs. Shirtless again. Low hanging jeans again.
“We have company, Clark.” Martha warned.
“Sorry.” Clark went around the counter. “Aw. Here it is. And my shirt.” Clark picked up his items.
Lana blushed.Nell and Martha had to notice the other clothes strewn along the way. Lana redfaced picked up her own clothes quickly.
"I think this is yours too." Clark teased as he handed Lana her thong.
Lana snatched it quickly then ran upstairs carrying her bundle in hand.
Clark just sniffed his shirt then placed it on.
“Clark. Don’t you think you need a clean shirt?” Martha rubbed her forehead. The man was causing her a migraine.
“Nope. Lana didn’t let me keep it on long. It’s clean.” Clark opened the fridge door searching for milk. “We’re out of milk.”
“You have a whole barnyard full of cows. Try milking one.” Martha quipped.
“Mother, I did milk this morning. I also took the milk to all the people that buy it. I like the homogenized stuff anyway.” Clark winked at Nell, who seemed to be flustered as she stared up and down at Clark’s body.
Lana quickly came back downstairs to catch her aunt’s stare. She stifled a giggle. “Clark, you need to do chores.”
“It’s your fault they're not done yet.” Clark grabbed Lana’s backside and squeezed. Lana yelped out.
Clark then left out the door. “Ladies.”
“Oh my. That boy sure has changed.” Nell fanned her face.
“Sorry about that, Nell.” Martha swallowed.
“Are you kidding? My niece is one lucky girl.” Nell caused them all to giggle..
“Lucky. Right! She is getting a crude farmer with no manners.” Martha shook her head between laughs.
“With a great body and a devotion to her like no one has seen. Much like Jonathan.” Nell placed her hand over Martha’s.
“You’re right. Lana, you are a lucky girl.” Martha closed her eyes momentarily. Clark was similar to Jonathan in so many ways.
The rest of the day was spent planning. Lana never realized there was so much to do. Nell was going overboard just like she always did. This time Lana would allow it. Martha seemed to be just as bad. It was their last big hoopla for their children before they began their adult lives together.
Lana kissed Nell goodbye as she held onto her list of things to do. She sniffed the flowers in the air. Lana decided to mark one thing off the list…FLOWERS.
Lana’s smile was contagious as the people in the flower shop watched her pick one flower than another.
“I just can’t decide.” Lana chuckled lightly.
“Why don’t I make you a bouquet of a few. You can show them to the lucky guy.” The flower shop owner smiled. She knew this was Nell’s niece. She had bought the place from her. “I can have the flowers shipped to the Luthor mansion if you want.”
“What? No..I’m not marrying Lex.” Lana didn’t care what people thought. She was too happy to care.
The flower shop owner smiled sweetly. “Clark Kent?”
“Yes.” Lana ran her hand across the tip of a flower.
“That figures. The perfect couple. Just between me and you…I’m glad you realized that Lex was not the one.” The owner placed another flower in the bouquet.
“Rebound. I’m okay now. Happy and in love.” Lana smiled again. She’d sing or whistle like a Disney character if those around her wouldn’t think she was crazy.
Lana thanked the florist. Then she headed to her vehicle with a spring in her step. She glanced around and grinned. What the heck?
“Lalalaalalalallal” She sung as she loaded all the samples she had collected for the day. So much work…so fun doing it.
Suddenly, a hand slipped around her mouth. Lana began to choke on something. Her mind was confused. She mumbled as she fell into darkness of sleep.
“I didn’t know my singing was that bad.”

“Nope. Lana didn’t let me keep it on long. It’s clean.” Clark opened the fridge door searching for milk. “We’re out of milk.”
“You have a whole barnyard full of cows. Try milking one.” Martha quipped.

OMG dawn...this is so funny. Poor Martha...Clark's new attitude is likely to be the death of her....

Well, I guess I couldn't expect the clana sweetness to last forever. Has to be Lex....I hope Clark can save her quickly.
And will Clark's new agressive attitude toward protecting Lana from Lex cause him to pound Lex into powder?

Pound him to powder?
Why not just "jump" or fly up really high and then drop him..... no one would suspect a thing, just he forgot his parachute whilst going sky diving lol

Part 30
“Put that here.” Lana rustled Isobel’s hair.
“I think it’s prettier like this.” Isobel’s chubby cheeks smiled up at her mother.
“Okay.” Lana couldn’t help but give in to her little girl.
“You’re four. What do you know?” The dark haired boy moved the cake’s decoration back to where Lana originally wanted it.
“You’re six. Not a big difference, Kal.” Isobel folded her arms stubbornly. She then made a little frown.
“Mom?” Kal peered up with his deep green eyes.
“Yes, honey.” Lana continued spreading the icing on the cake.
“Why does dad where his underwear on the outside of his suit?” Kal always thought the cape was cool. The tights looked silly to him.
Lana giggled as her nose scrunched up. “You’ll have to ask your dad that.” Lana loved the tights personally. She had helped Clark with the outfit.
“Is it Daddy’s birfday or his annecity?” Isobel dipped her small finger in the blue icing.
“Both. Your daddy and I married on his birthday.” Lana helped Isobel from the counter.
“ That isn’t very fair to daddy. He gets cheated out of presents.” Isobel cocked her head sideways.
“No I don’t. Mommy is my best present.” Clark had appeared from no where as his hands wrapped around Lana’s waist.
Both children soon were the next to be hugged as Clark swooped them in the air.
“Okay. Enough. Go get cleaned up for dinner.” Lana crossed her arms.
Kal sped away in a zap but only found himself sprawled out hitting his face on the floor. “Great. Look what you did. You made me break a tile."
“I’ll fix it later. Izzy, NO magic in the house.” Clark warned.
“Okay, Daddy.” She grinned and ran upstairs.
“How’s Johnny?” Clark rubbed Lana’s round stomach.
“He’s fine. Kicking constantly.” Lana placed her hand over Clark’s. “By the way, Kal wants to ask you something.”
Lana’s eyes fluttered open. She hated leaving that dream. She glanced down at herself. She was wearing a white wedding gown. It looked old and stained yellow with age. She glanced around the room. It was decorated with fine expensive furniture. Victorian style in décor. Lana ran her hands down her dress nervously….when she noticed there was no door. Only a large mirror that covered one wall.
Lana rubbed her aching head trying to think where she could be. The last place she remembered was the flower shop. Lana swallowed as she tried to stand. She felt too dizzy. Therefore, she just leaned back against the large soft pillow.
“What do you want , Lex?” Lionel marched in the warehouse. The LuthorCorp had shut this down years ago. Before Lex was in his teens.
Lex stood looking in at something. Lionel walked up and gasped. “What have you done?”
“Took Clark’s most prized possession and made her mine.” Lex placed his hand on the glass wall. “She can’t see us.”
“This is insane. Let her go.” Lionel removed Lex’s hand off the two way mirror.
“NO. I own her.” Lex jerked his hand from Lionel’s.
“No one owns another human. Lex, don’t be ludicrous. She doesn’t know who captured her. Just let her go.” Lionel pushed back his wavy hair from his face. “Or I’ll tell Clark. You don’t want him to be your arch enemy, Lex. Clark isn’t the same boy he once was.”
“He’ll be lost without her.” Lex smirked.
“Is that your mother’s wedding dress? Where did you get that?” Lionel was starting to realize just how insane his son was.
“I have my ways, Father. You find Clark to be the son you always wanted. One with power….I have the power now.” Lex turned back around staring at Lana.
Lana began to cry into her pillow.
“Power? You call terrorizing this young lady you claim to love..POWER?” Lionel started to walk away.
“No. Father….Stop. I can’t help that my father has an obsession with all things Clark Kent.” Lex smirked condescendingly.
“What?” Lionel turned around to face his son holding a gun.
“You had two choices here. To be my ally and Clark’s enemy. Or vice versa. You lose.” Lex pulled the trigger.
He smiled as he watched his father’s lifeless body fall to the floor.
“McGregor, put the body on ice. I’ll need it fresh when I’m done with my plans.” Lex turned around and touched the mirror viewing Lana.
“Yes, Sir.” McGregor pointed to another man alerting him to help with Lionel’s body.
“I’ll save you from my evil father, Lana. I’ll be there for you when Clark can not.” Lex laughed deviously.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“When did she leave?” Clark was rubbing his temples trying to remain calm.
“At around 11 a.m. I didn’t notice her car until I closed up shop. I’m so sorry, Mr. Kent.” The florist bit her nails.
Clark closed his eyes as he felt his blood boiling. He’d kill if need be. That was scaring him the most. He’d kill for Lana without a second thought.
“Sir, does Ms. Lang have any enemies?” The sheriff held a notebook ready to scribble down any notes needed.
“Try Lex Luthor.” Clark vehemently stated. “She broke up with him to accept my engagement.”
“We already questioned, Mr. Luthor. Ms. Calway, the florist, informed us that Lex was her scorned lover.” The sheriff glanced up from his notepad.
“Lex and Lana were NEVER lovers. So get those facts straight. She dated him for awhile. That’s it! Do you understand?” Clark’s nostrils flared with anger.
“Yes…uuum as I was saying. Mr. Luthor was at a charity event and has numerous witnesses.” The sheriff stated.
“Do you have a brain in that skull or are all small town sheriffs idiots?” Clark was losing his patience. “Lex has enough money to have someone else do his dirty work. Or maybe you’re on his payroll as well.”
“I’ll take in consideration that you’re distraught. But that is this once. Heed my warning, Son.”
The sheriff puffed out his chest.
“Heed my warning, Sheriff. I’m not your son. And I’m not afraid of Lex Luthor or any one else for that matter.” Clark walked off towards Lana’s car. He picked up the bundle of flowers then headed to his truck.
“He’s one angry fella.” The sheriff scratched his head.
“Lana Lang is his life.” Chloe pointed for Jimmy to take photos of the abandoned car.
“You don’t think Ms. Lang got cold feet?” The sheriff turned to Chloe. “The boy seems rather possessive.”
“Not now or ever. Marrying Clark is a dream come true for them both.” Chloe moistened her lips. “Please find her before anything happens. I don’t want to sound like Clark…but that is a warning for whoever took her. Clark is…” Chloe stopped. Dangerous was her thought.. “is very much in love with her.”
“I promise to do my best, Ms. Sullivan.” The sheriff walked to his car.
He pulled out. As he drove down the road towards the station, he passed Clark’s truck on the side of the road. Clark had his head down on the steering wheel. The sheriff noticed when Clark raised his head, he wiped away tears. So the big guy was just distraught. The sheriff was determined to find this boy’s fiancé. For some reason he also felt that Lex was the culprit. A farm boy couldn’t take a powerful man’s girlfriend without there being repercussions.
Clark tried to breathe in and out to calm down. He wanted to go straight to the Luthor mansion and jerk off Lex’s head, literally. He knew that wouldn’t solve anything. Especially considering that he had x-rayed every inch of the mansion. Lana wasn’t there. He’d have to investigate…spy..whatever it took to find her.
“I love you so much, Lana.” Clark whispered. His heart breaking with each syllable.
*************
“Okay, Jimmy, What do we have?”
“Well…according to the florist..Lana had to be abducted by 11:10 at the latest.” Jimmy handed
Chloe the photos.
“What is this?” Chloe peered at the photo.
“It’s the old apartment building beside the ally. Nothing special. I just took a lot of photos of every thing around.” Jimmy glanced at the photo then went back to Chloe’s notes.
“No this!” Chloe pointed. “This window. It looks like someone is peeking out.”
“I'll enlarge it.” Jimmy grabbed the photo. “I think we may have a witness, Ms. Sullivan.”
Jimmy leaned and kissed Chloe. She smiled. “Just enlarge it, Romeo.”

Clark seems pretty distraught. I guess there are circumstances where Clark might let his anger go.
I'm sure that Lex is not aware of the extent of Clark's abilities/anger, or else he wouldn't have resorted to something as overt as a kidnapping. He's being pretty stupid here.

Part 32
“May we come in?” Chloe put on her best smile.
“Sure thing.” The old woman smiled back at her with a toothless grin. She was round and waddled.
Chloe noticed her swollen ankles and bent posture. She also noted the large warn chair that sat by the window. Jimmy sauntered behind Chloe with camera in tow.
“You’re here about the pretty girl.” The elderly woman plopped down into the worn chair. The relief of being off her feet evident in her face. “These legs aren’t what they used to be. I used to could dance the night away.”
The portly woman leaned back in her chair pushing with her arms to get more comfortable. She finally settled in.
“Yes. We’re here about the girl that was abducted the other day.” Chloe sat down as the woman pointed to the small sofa covered in a polyester cover.
“She was a pretty thing. I don’t have no phone.” The woman leaned back picking up a cup steaming hot water and placing in a tea bag. “Tea?”
“Thank you. You don’t have a phone?” Chloe poured another cup of hot water and placed in a tea bag.
Jimmy watched as Chloe dipped the tea bag up and down.
“No phone. I couldn’t call the police. I yelled for help. But the folks in this place could care less about one another.” The woman blew on her hot water. The grounds of tea circled the top of the cup.
“So you saw something.” Jimmy chimed in. Both Chloe and the elderly woman glared at him. Jimmy clamped his mouth shut.
“As I was saying.” The woman leaned back. “She is a pretty thing. She getting married?”
“Yes. How did you know?” Chloe settled back blowing on her tea. She didn’t plan on drinking it considering the stained cup. However, she knew that she would get more information from this woman if she just let her talk.
“She was smiling..singing. Such a pretty girl. Then a man in a dark suit grabbed her. He had a rag in his hand. She just went limp.” The woman chuckled as she placed down her cup.
“What’s so funny?” Jimmy ran his hand through his hair.
“I was thinking how much my grandson looks like you.” The woman leaned back.
“Oh.” Jimmy fiddled with his camera. This woman was getting off subject and Chloe didn’t seem to mind.
“Do you have a lot of grandchildren?” Chloe dunked her tea bag into the cooling water.
“Just two. His brother doesn't pay me no mind.He is a sweet boy. He calls me. His mama doesn’t much fool with me. She is a big judge in Wichita.” The woman leaned back and began to hum. The tune was a bad rendition of Amazing Grace. “My Petey loves me though.”
“Pete Ross?” Chloe frowned. Only a grandmother could see a resemblance between Jimmy and Pete.
“Yep.” The woman grinned proudly.
“Seriously. Pete was one of my best friends.” Chloe beamed. “He never mentioned you. I mean…”
“It’s okay. I told Petey not to mention me. His mama…well pride got in her way. She didn’t want any to know where she came from. A single woman whose man runned off with a stripper. That's what she saw in me. I don’t really blame her.” The older woman swatted a cockroach that ran across the table.
Jimmy grimaced. Chloe smiled. “I knew, Mrs. Ross.”
“Yep. My daughter judged me…that sounds ironic. Any way, she couldn’t even keep her man for putting her job first.” She chuckled then dropped two sugar cubes in the now cold water.
“So how is Pete?” Chloe grinned baring her gums.
“He is in love with a pretty thing. He sent me a bus ticket. I ain’t got out of this place for so long. He said to call Clark Kent. He’d help me get out of here and on the bus.” the woman leaned back.
“Clark is Lana’s fiancé.” Chloe stated.
“Oh! Petey adores Clark. He said the boy is a great person. Clark is that big good looking fella I saw all flustered?” The woman twisted around.
“Yes.” Chloe licked her lips.
“Well…then..” The woman giggled.
“Now what is so funny?” Jimmy didn’t understand how this was investigative reporting.
“The way that man thinks he got by with something. It had a license plate…the white van.” The woman leaned and picked up a piece of paper. She handed it to Chloe.
“Thank you.” Chloe smiled.
“No. Thank you for taking time to listen to the ramblings of an old lady.”

“Why didn’t you tell me about this information?” Clark snatched the small piece of crumpled paper from Chloe’s hand.
“Chill, C.K.” Jimmy stood up ready to defend his girl.
Chloe grabbed Jimmy by the shirt tale and drug him back down to sit. Clark glared at him. Chloe gulped…don’t make the alien angry. But it was cute that Jimmy was willing to take on the big guy for her honor. She wondered if Jimmy knew Clark could throw fire from his eyes if the situation would be the same.
“Uuuum. Clark, I wanted to follow up on it before giving you false hope.” Chloe swallowed. She hoped he bought that lie.
“No. What you wanted to do was save Lex’s scrawny neck. You wanted to keep me from popping that cue ball of his off his shoulders.” Clark was ready for blood. May as well be Lex’s.
“Clark, just because the guy works for Luthors..I mean it could be a vendetta against him. A lot of people think Lana is still Lex Luthor’s girlfriend.” Chloe cleared her throat. She actually was protecting Lex. Mainly for Clark. He didn’t need to lose control.
Clark sat down. He ran his hands through his dark unruly hair as he closed his eyes. Breathe…breathe. He couldn’t do it again. He just couldn’t. Clark was trying but he couldn’t do it again…not live that over.
“She can’t die, Chlo…she can’t. Not…” He just shook his head.
“She won’t.” Chloe knew exactly what Clark was fearing. He couldn’t live through Lana’s death again.
“Listen, C.K. We have a good lead. Chloe is listing all Luthor Corp. properties. We’ll help check them.” Jimmy patted Clark on the shoulder.
“ I called the police and gave them the information we have. WE can do this.” Chloe rubbed Clark’s shoulder.
“Okay. Give me a copy of the list.” Clark calmed slightly.
****************************
“Who are you? Why am I here?” Lana screamed at the mirror. She could feel someone watching her. She also knew someone was...considering she woke up to find a tray of food on the nightstand.
“She feels I’m here.” Lex touched the mirror. “She needs me.”
Lana flicked her fingers together and whispered. Summonsing Isobel seemed to be fruitless. Why had it been so easy with Clark? Lana curled her knees up to her chin. She wondered if it was their Kryptonian connection. She only could summon magic around Clark….or for Clark.
Her tears cascaded down her cheeks. “What do you want from me?” She screamed.
A voice echoed through speakers in the corner of the room. “ I want you to realize your mistake.”
The voice was computerized. Thus, it was unrecognizable. Lana jumped startled at the sound.
“What mistake? Lex is that you?” Lana stood up and marched up to the mirror.
“Lex….Lex Luthor? Please. He protects you. Perhaps, you should ask Clark Kent how many enemies he has made over the year. The mistake was getting mixed up with that dangerous man. Now for all the things he has done to others….the love of his life will suffer for.” The voice laughed wickedly.
“Do you think this is going to work?” The bimbo in the corner of the room twisted her hair in her fingers. She then popped her gum.
“Of course…Kitty is it?” Lex glanced over his shoulder as he turned off the microphone.
“Yeah.” Kitty twisted her gum around her finger. “She doesn’t look so special to me.”
“Trust me. She is.” Lex leaned back. “He loves her. That is all that matters.”
“This Kirk guy?” Kitty walked closer to the mirror studying Lana.
“Clark Kent. She is his everything.” Lex smirked as his hand slid down Kitty’s bare back. Lex required she always wear slinky dresses. This time was no different.
“So you don’t exactly want Lana. You want what..Kirk..I mean Clark wants.” Kitty thought she had it right.
“Very good, Kitty.” Lex retorted. Kitty was an airhead.
“I get things right.” She grinned proudly. “But what is so special about Clark?” Kitty glanced at the photo of Clark and Lana that lay in front of Lex. “Besides, he is hotter than a normal guy should be.”
“Shut up, Kitty.” Lex stood up and marched out of the room.
Kitty stared at Lana. She seemed so sad. Those eyes so lost. Poor thing. Oh well, Lex was so smart. He knew what he was doing. Didn’t he? Maybe he was saving this girl from the evil Clark Kent.
***************
“I checked these.” Clark handed the list of marked out warehouses to Chloe.
“Jimmy and I split up. I checked two more.” Chloe sat down beside Clark in the diner. “Jimmy is a good guy, Clark. Don’t be so hard on him.”
“I know. I like him for you. You both fit.” Clark smiled. “Did I make a mistake?”
“What do you mean?” Chloe placed her hand on Clark’s.
“Letting Lana back in my life…if something happens to her.” Clark’s courage was leaving him at that thought.
“Listen. If Lex has Lana. He won’t hurt her. I don’t think. He wants to own her.” Chloe squeezed Clark’s hand.
“Should I be worried?” Jimmy pulled out a chair.
“Naw.” Chloe giggled. “How did you do?”
“This one was empty. This one had a lot of guards and a lot of vehicle movement.” Jimmy pointed to the list. He noticed all the marked off buildings. “How did you get through so many?”
“Clark has his ways.” Chloe tapped her fingers on the table. “Maybe we should be looking for something different.”
“That is what I was thinking. I am going to get to the last of these places. Why don’t you check under Lionel’s name, Helen’s, and even Lucas’s.” Clark stood up. “Jimmy…”
“Yes.” Jimmy looked up.
“Thanks. Sorry I was such a jerk.” Clark smiled weakly.
“It’s okay. Chloe told me how much you love Lana.” Jimmy assured him. “Now lets go see what we can find.”

Part 34
“There. Right there.” Chloe pointed to the map. “She has to be in there somewhere.”
“Why aren’t we telling this to C.K. ?” Jimmy questioned Chloe.
“Because I want an exclusive.” It sounded self centered. The reality was she wanted to see if she and Jimmy could save Lana without Clark’s help. Even if it meant calling the police. Clark was growing angrier each day. Chloe admitted.... Clark was even scaring her… The last three weeks were trying Clark on remaining in control.
“I don’t know, Chloe. He is …”
“Trust me…Okay.” Chloe interrupted Jimmy with a kiss. “Now. Let’s try to get closer. I have Clark’s cell number just in case.”
*****************
“Mr. Luthor.” McGregor interrupted Lex and Kitty in the den.
“Yes, McGregor. This better be good.” Lex looked at the tall man.
“Sir. I think it is time.”
“Certainly.” Lex kissed Kitty on the cheek and chortled. He then headed towards the door. “Make it good. But not too good.”
“Yes. Sir.” McGregor slipped on his gloves….Lionel’s best pair.
******************
“Lana! Lana!” Lex pushed open the mirrored door as he fell to his feet.
“Lex!” Lana ran to him. “What…Lex?”
“Lana.” Lex said weakly through bleeding lips. "I’ve looked since the day he took you. I finally found you.”
“Lex, what are you talking about?” Lana tried to help Lex’s battered body up.
“My father. He’s lost it…he’s lost it!” Lex grabbed Lana’s face cupping her chin lovingly.
“I don’t understand.” Lana swallowed as she leaned down beside of Lex.
“He took you…He said.. Clark didn’t deserve you. Not when a Luthor should have you.” Lex ran his thumb over Lana’s lip. Lana pulled back.
“I don’t understand.” Lana stood up. “We need to go.”
“I found a map to this place.” Lex wearily stood to his feet. “I need to lean on you. He beat me for saying to let you go. If Clark wanted you and you him…I had to face it.”
“How could a man his age beat you?” Lana didn’t believe the tale that was unfolding. However, Lex was beaten. His blood and bruises were confirming his story.
“My father did the beating. That doesn’t mean he didn’t have help.” Lex had his arm draped over Lana’s shoulder as they ran slowly down the long corridor.
“Stop! Lex. You need to let her go.” Lionel’s voice boomed from the hall. Lana and Lex could see a figure standing in he shadows.
“No..DAD!” Lex pushed Lana down as he threw his body over her. He then shot in the air as gunshots rang around them.
A deadly silence filled the corridor. Lex withdrew himself from Lana’s body. He pulled her up by her hand. Slowly he and Lana made their way down the hall.
“Father.” Lex dropped beside of Lionel’s lifeless body. Lex cried as he touched his father’s face. “I killed him.”
“He …he tried to kill us.” Lana touched Lex’s shoulder. “Why would he do that?”
“I've always disappointed him. I guess his last straw was seeing me lose you to …a farm boy. He said I had all this power…and couldn’t even hold on to the woman I loved.” Lex wiped the back of his hand over his crocodile tear filled eyes. “I guess my father was insane. Look…he dressed you in my mother’s wedding dress. He said…you should’ve married me in it.”
“We need to go.” Lana felt bad for Lex. However, she’d not pity him. All she needed now was for Clark to hold her once more.
*******************
“Did you hear gunshots?” Jimmy wiped his forehead. The hike was longer than he thought it would be.
“Yes.” Chloe bit her lip. She immediately dialed Clark. “Clark. Listen we are…” Chloe could barely give the map directions when a breeze pasted by them.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Clark was shaking.
“I wanted to make sure. Honestly.” Chloe was on the verge of tears. What if Lana was dead..because of her?
“How in the world..” Jimmy’s eyes bugged out.
“Let it go. He was already following us.” Chloe sniffed.
Jimmy furrowed his eyebrows as he bent down to get his binoculars. In a breeze…Clark was gone.
********************
Clark pulled the metal door from its hinges. He rushed into the hall. “Lana! Lana!”
His voice echoed with all the pain of the fear of losing her …..again.
“Clark!” Lana pulled away from Lex. She ran to Clark.
“Oh Lana!” He picked her up swinging her in the air. Her small legs wrapping around his waist.
“Clark…I love you.” She leaned her forehead against his.
“If any thing would have happened to you.” He was gulping.
“Nothing happened.” Lana couldn’t let go of Clark.
“I couldn’t protect you.” Clark whispered.
“But I did.” Lex held on to the wall.
“Lex, how did you know where to find her?" Clark’s words were full of accusation.
“Lionel held me captive.” Lana still held on to Clark as she leaned her head on his shoulder. “Lex saved me.”
Clark glared at Lex. He didn’t believe a word of this. Lex did this. Somehow, Clark just knew it.
“I killed my own father to save her.” Lex feigned sorrow. “ I need to get out of here. I need a doctor.”
Lex weakly fell. Lana acted as she would in her nature. She pulled from Clark reluctantly to go help Lex. Clark shook his head. He pulled Lana back.
“I’ll get him.” Clark threw Lex over his shoulder. Lex grunted as his stomach hit the hardness of Clark’s skin.
Clark smirked. So much for the guy being passed out. Clark deviously held on to the fakely passed out Lex with one arm. He squeezed Lana’s backside with the other.
“Clark!” Lana jumped.
“I need some of that when we get home.” Clark winked.
“Clark Kent. You have a one track mind. I need a shower.” Lana blushed. With all they did ...why blush?
“I plan on adding that to the list of things to do to your body..bath it…kiss it.. Lick..”
“Okay.. It’s a good thing he’s passed out, Big Guy.” Lana giggled. In all the troubles of the last few weeks, she couldn’t help but relax when beside her man.
Lana’s hand went to Clark’s. Clark straightened Lex on his shoulder. Lex grunted lowly again. “Yeah, it’s a good thing he can’t hear.”

“I just don’t believe him, Lana.” Clark pushed back Lana’s hair behind her ear.
The breeze blew across the field causing her hair to lap at her face. Clark and Lana were enjoying the smaller things in life now that she was back.
Lionel’s funeral was a mix of emotion for them all. They had to trust him with so much. Now he was gone at the hands of his own son.
“It seemed real.” Lana leaned into Clark’s arm. It was nice to just sit and watch the horses grazing in the field. Simple things were enjoyed with Clark is all she kept thinking.
“I just don’t trust him.” Clark pulled Lana tighter.
“I don’t either.” Lana sat up and waved at Chloe and Jimmy riding on their horses. “They finally made it.”
“Yeah. It doesn’t look like either are that good at riding.” Clark chuckled. Then he stood to his feet to help Jimmy and Chloe stop their slow walking horses.
“I will never again let you pick the activity, Clark Kent. Have you ever heard of a simple movie?” Chloe pressed on Clark’s shoulder as she stepped off the horse.
“I have to agree with her, C.K.” Jimmy rubbed his sore bottom before sitting down on the blanket. “I hope the food is good at least.”
“Mom made it.” Clark walked and sat behind Lana.
“It'll be great then.” Chloe plopped next to Jimmy. They made a cute bumbling couple.
“Lana and I have some news.” Clark smiled.
“We know you're getting married.” Chloe stated sarcastically then pulled a pieced of freshly fried chicken from the basket.
“Yeah..but we are getting married on Clark’s birthday.” Lana rubbed Clark’s arm as it draped around her.
“That is less than two weeks.” Chloe was suddenly up on her knees.
“Why so soon? No offense…but you kind of are together all the time any way.” Jimmy pulled out the potato salad.
“For one thing..I want Lana to become a Kent as soon as possible. Another thing….I put in for an internship at the Daily Planet. I’m starting Met U the next semester. They have financial aide for married couples. It will help us both out.” Clark pulled Lana’s hair back behind her shoulders and kissed her neck.
“That is great! Journalism…I can see it now. We’ll be the dynamic trio. Kent, Oleson, and Sullivan.” Jimmy crossed his arms.
“I think it is more like Sullivan, Kent and Oleson..right, Clark..Clark.” Chloe looked at Clark and Lana kissing. “Never mind.”
“So Chloe…any ideas.” Jimmy wiggled his eyebrows.
“Get over it, Romeo.” Chloe shook her head and bit into her chicken.
“Later, Juliet.” Jimmy laughed.
The rest of the evening went uneventful. Clark would get a strange look on his face once in a while but then he’d just down his head and concentrate.
“What was that all about?” Lana asked as they washed up the last of the dishes from the picnic.
“I keep hearing all these sounds…farther than they used to be heard. Sounds of people crying for help.” Clark dried a bowl and placed it in the cabinet.
“Why didn’t you go to them?” Lana touched his cheek. He looked so concerned.
“I need to know how to channel them…I’m not sure where it is coming from.” Clark looked away.
“Clark, I can tell when you’re being less than honest with me.” Lana forced him to look back at her.
“I’m afraid, Lana.” Clark admitted.
“Of what?” Lana pulled him to sit down at the kitchen table.
“This…us ending.” Clark had been strong. But now he felt the events of the last few weeks and the impending feeling of something going to happen were catching up to him. He allowed a tear to make its way slowly down his cheek.
Lana gently wiped it away. “We’ll never end, Clark. Listen.” She pulled his face within inches of hers. “No matter what. We’re destined. Don’t forget that. Is that partly why you’re rushing this wedding?”
Clark nodded. “Not that only…I really can’t wait for you to be Mrs. Kent.”
“Let’s take one day at a time. Agreed.” Lana stroked Clark’s face.
“Agreed.” Clark leaned and placed his forehead against hers. “You complete me.”
“I know.” Lana teased as she rustled his hair. “Don’t think this gets you out of finishing up dishes.”
*************************
Lana lay in Clark’s arms after they made love. His breathing was heavy with sleep. Lana watched his brow furrow as he tossed and turned restlessly. Lana knew Jor-el was calling him again. Clark was fighting his destiny.
However, She wanted to be selfish. She wasn’t going to let him go for Jor-el’s selfish trials. This time Jor-el had someone else to help Clark fight for his future…Lana Lang.

Here it is everyone....the END. NOTE: The letter is not my creation but from a comic scan..I found on the site SWEET.
“You look lovely.” Martha watched as Lana turned around in the mirror.
“Thank you, Martha. .” Lana smiled causing her eyes to sparkle with happiness.
“I’m so happy this is all finally happening for you two.” Martha embraced Lana tightly fighting back the tears of happiness forming.
“Now don’t you start that crying, Martha. You'll cause Lana to cry.” Nell opened the door and stepped in. “Can’t have the bride all misty eyed before the groom sees her.”
Soon the Talon apartment was filled with laughter as Lois and Chloe busied themselves helping the bride. Chloe was maid of honor and Lois was a bridesmaid. The wedding was simple even though Nell and Martha both had went over board on decorating and food. It was being held in the Talon. Lana was to march down the Talon stairs to the awaiting arms of Clark. No one knew but her and Clark... that it had to do with the fact that they had made love for the first time there.
Lana watched as the girls chattered excitedly. Then she suddenly felt an urge to walk to the window. She grinned as she watched Clark step out of his truck. She watched as Pete Ross embraced him. Clark introduced Jimmy Oleson to Pete. Hands were shaken.
Then Clark had the sudden look of worry on his face. The voices of those needing his help were echoing in his head again. Lana knew it. She had seen the same look on Clark’s face for two weeks now.
Lana swallowed as she watched her fiancé struggle to concentrate. Pete and Jimmy busied themselves with conversation. Lana glanced over the city. She could see the next block over. She watched as a small child wiggled free from his mother’s grip. He ran from here directly in to the road where a vehicle came speeding around the corner. Lana’s mouth almost screamed the words ’Help’. But before her words escaped her mouth, Clark had flew the child to the other side of the road. In a split second, he had saved the little boy. People gathered around not seeing where he came from but touching him as they praised him for saving the child. His mother ran to embrace her child. Lana watched as the mother thanked Clark. She never questioned how it happened that her son was safe. She was just thankful that he was.
Lana breathed heavily as it hit her... Clark had flown!
Clark glanced up feeling Lana’s stare. Her eyes brimming with tears and pride. Clark felt his heart leap in his body. The look on Lana’s face gave him an unexplained fear.
*********************
Clark straightened his tie nervously as he watched first Lois then Chloe walk down the aisle. He glanced at his mother as the bridal march began. He waited anxiously…waiting…waiting..
He closed his eyes as a tear trickled down his face. Nell stood up and made her way upstairs.
She hurried back down and whispered to Martha. Martha cleared her throat. She walked up and whispered to Clark. Clark shook his head. He knew.
“Ladies and gentleman. Please be patient. The wedding is postponed for a few hours. Please….enjoy some refreshments while we wait.” Martha spoke to the guests.
She then turned to Clark. “I’ll allow them to enjoy the food awhile then tell them the wedding is off.”
Clark just nodded. He knew exactly where to find Lana.
Clark made his way to the old oak tree. He was startled not to find Lana. Instead he found a note.
I knew it was you the second I saw the image.
A flying man appearing from nowhere to do the right thing.
Among your many abilities,
You have the uncanny ability to arrive or disappear at the most dramatic times.
I know your reading this at home. After the crowd pushed in on you clawing, begging
I know you’re under the tree that we fed together with secrets and chatter and silence.
I know you’re terrified.
The world is not a kind place, Clark.
Fate plays games with us all.
Life rarely goes according to plan. And that’s what makes it so incredible.
I wanted a life with you, where the two of us would spend together forever in a bubble.
Safe. Normal. More of the same from a small town.
That was my plan…doomed from the start.
Because you were meant to leave even before I laid eyes on you.
You belong to the world, Clark. No matter how scary that sounds..how insane.
Just one favor. As your soaring through the clouds, helping.
Just try to remember me, No matter what happens, what heights you achieve,
You’ll always be Clark Kent. The boy I fell in love with…..
But Superman suits you too.
Love always,
Lana.
Clark leaned against the tree almost weak from reading the words. Once again a sacrifice of his happiness and ….hers.
Clark closed his eyes as tears finally streamed down his face. He swallowed. Lana was right about one thing. He had a destiny. He needed to save people. It was as deep in him as the love for Lana. Neither his destiny nor his love for her…out shined the other.
Clark opened his eyes and glanced towards the sky. His father’s words sounding like an ominous thunderstorm. “YOU HAVE A DESTINY, KAL-EL.”
It finally donned on Clark that Jor-el had been training him. Readying him for this all along. He felt it when he heard the mother scream her child’s name. Thus, he just jumped without thinking. He flew for the first time. Lana had seen it. He knew. He felt it.
Clark smiled as he glanced at his hand gripping Lana’s letter tightly. Her words were filled with love and sacrifice….she was indeed all he had ever dreamed her to be. Clark shook his head at her stubborn ways. He wiped his eyes with his free hand.
Clark then tucked the note in his tuxedo. A broad smile spread across his face as he thought….indeed it was time to fulfill his destiny.
***************************
Lana stood in the loft wiping away tears. She was happy to have given him up for the world. But it still pained her. Clark was more than a mere farm boy. More than her fiancé. It was the right thing to do. Lana knew it.
“You look beautiful.” His voice broke her thoughts.
“What….what are you doing here?” Lana gulped as she saw Clark. He looked so handsome ….so perfect.
“I came to get my bride.” Clark walked towards her. He touched her cheek wiping a tear away with his thumb.
“Didn’t…you get me letter?” Lana stammered as tears continued to touch his fingers caressing her.
“Yes.” Clark bit his lip.
“I thought you’d understand. You have to follow your destiny.” Lana wanted to hold him. She wanted to never let him go. But she fought those urges.
“I agree. So that's what I’m doing.” Clark pushed back a tendril of hair that was sticking to Lana’s wet face.
“I don’t understand.” Lana whispered as she leaned into Clark’s hand.
“You are my destiny, Lana. The tattoo…the necklace…the symbol on the bracelet. Isobel….Kryptonian heritage…we’re forever connected.” Clark pulled her to look at him.
“I don’t know why we both always thought we had to sacrifice our love…for humanity. We can have both worlds. You and me….and all other people.”
Clark’s lips crashed down on Lana’s. Destiny finally being accepted by them both.
