Did anyone see last night's episode? It was really sad but very good.
Also, does anyone know what it got ratings-wise?

I must admit I never watched the show until Ritter's death, but I thought last night's ep was wonderful.
There were still comedic elements, but they left out the laugh track, a very wise decision. They handled the situation as well as they could have, it was very, very tasteful.
And when they read the final column...that was just outstanding.

Good! I want the show to get good ratings and continue. If anyone knows the official ratings I would still like to know.

unless that is what it usually pulls in, i doubt it will keep that high rating. that was a very special occasion

Yea, the ratings sky-rocketed! The ep was so sad, I miss John Ritter so much! The show is not going to be the same w/o him- he was the show!

if you guys missed there's another showing tonight 10 eastern time on ABC.
I'm watching it right now. The scene where his wife finds out he's dead just happened. It was such a sad episode.

the ending is what got to me. when they were reading his column. also when one of the daughters said the last word she said to him was "i hate you".

ARGH! I missed the episode BOTH times it showed... :( I was so sad about John Ritter's death as well, but at least it sounds like they had a very poignant episode to portray his character's death. I wonder how this will affect the overall direction of the show, and its viewership. I'll definitely miss his wit and sense of humor, and his uptight parenting skills... He always made me laugh on that show. *sigh*

this was the most incredible show ever with John Ritter. the man will be missed greatly.
what do you think of the show now that it is continuing without Ritter?

I've actually only started watching this recently and it is very funny, John Ritter especially. its sad that he died. as far as i'm aware the new series hasnt started in england so i cant really comment on it but i doubt it will be as good.

I never watched the show but I found it amusing that John Ritter takes on the role of a parent who sets rules for his daughter and yet he played a swinging bachelor on "Three's Company"

I just started watching last week. I saw an ad during the Rose Bowl and decieded to check it out. It's pretty funny. I didn't even realize it was the show John Ritter was on till near the end credits. I think it's done a good job of moving on very realistic for how a family would be adjusting after such a loss.

they have done an incredible job of continuing it, even when it was John Ritter who made it funny. i think that it doesn't have the heart that it did before, but it sure has the humor. i commend the actors for doing such an inspiring job even after his death.

I didn't check out the show until after John's death, but I've been very impressed with how they've held it together.
Katey Sagal is a total pro and plays a great straight man (so to speak) so everyone else can ham it up. James Garner was a great addition as the cantankerous grandfather, he's a veteran who's been rock solid in everything I've ever seen him do. I like all three of the kids. And David Spade's guest run will be good for generating plotlines.
I'll keep watching. :)

I started watching the show this year too- after I learned that Kaley Cuoco (Bridget) was going to be in Charmed, I decided I should watch the show and see what she's like as an actress.
I fell in love with the show immediately. The first episode I saw was when the kids go back to school for the first time since Paul died. It made me cry so much.
When I finally saw the episode when Paul died, I cried. My parents were watching too... and they cried. My mum left the room because it was too emotional for her. I think it was all the more upsetting because of John Ritter's tragic passing. Goddess rest his soul.
Do you mean the third season? I know! I want to see it. They showed a clip on ABC1, but they only show seasons 1 and 2 on the channel...
just curious, but did 8 Simple Rules actually go off the air, or is it still running?
Although, I'm guessing if Kaley's now a regular in Charmed, she's not going to have time for 8 Simple Rules, right?

I loved 8 Simple rules originally but when John died the show went crap imo.

I used to watch the show all the time when it first started, but after he died, it just wasn't funny anymore. :\

damn! Why is it that when I finally get hooked on a sitcom, it's already been cancelled? Grr.
I don't think the show went downhill. Okay, maybe a tiny bit. But then again, I love David Spade- so I was quite pleased when he ended up on the show.
The good thing is that they didn't pull a "Bewitched" with Paul Hennessy. They could have roped in a 'Ritter-alike' and pretend nothing happened... I'm so glad they didn't.

In my area, they're going to be showing it in reruns. I only caught a few episodes of it all total so I can't say much about it.

^^that's where I watch it too.
It really bugs me that they don't show the third season- I looked up the episode guide and it looks like a pretty good season. Except for the Kerry/Kyle storyline (I'm a shipper, so sue me)
Anyway, the christmas adverts show clips from an S3 Christmas episode, but they never actually showed the 3rd season. Why???

the show got very bad, very fast after john ritter(R.I.P.) died. that episode was so sad, i almost cried. nothing kills a show like the actual death of a cast member. i loved john ritter, it was so sad. and such a weird twist of fate.

They made fun of the show even though it was true on Family Guy. Peter said something to the effect that this is abouty as funny as 8 simple rules after the dad died.
