Hello guys!

Man it's really been a while since I posted a vid here wouldn't ya say? ;)

Anyway, I made a Superman Returns vid if anyone wants to check it out. I used the song "23" by Jimmy Eat World. I loved Ryan's awesome vid to that song so much it kinda inspired me to make this one. Hope thats okay with you Ry.

The quality isn't that great in the smaller version but you can still see it.
Hope you likey! :D

How did you get movie footage for a film that just came out in theatres?

The most obvious possibility is - from trailers. The other option is less legal, but not something I exactly disapprove of if it's just being used to make videos. No one's discussing or telling anyone where to get such a thing, so it shouldn't be a prob.

Holly,

This video was freaking FANTASTIC.

Without a doubt the best you have ever done. This video had some of the best overall editing and pacing I have ever seen in a video. You were so in tune with the song and your editing was so incredibly smooth that it made me jealous! Perfect lyrical matches as well. Loved your use of superimposes at times and I also thought that you captured the Clois romance angst portion of the film remarkably well in your video.

This video was nearly perfect.

I only have one gripe. The audio edit @ 2:56 is extremely noticeable and kind of took me out of the moment. Your audio editing at the beginning with the opening guitar was great. I have no complaints whatsoever. But that audio edit to go into the tail end of the video was rough.

************

But that was my only gripe. Perfect editing and pacing for the whole video. This easily could have been a professional production it was so good. It is funny because I am currently in an editing workshop that deals with different types of editing styles. We are currently doing montages, and the teacher makes a big deal out of taking a longer song and editing it down to a shorter length and goes over various techniques used in montages. This is something that I wish he could see. I know you would impress the hell out of him. You still using Vegas, or have you upgraded to higher end stuff? In all honesty, this video looked like it was done with something better than Vegas.

Wow! That was such an incredible vid Holly. I was very very impressed!!! You are so talented and you continue to outdo yourself with every new vid you make. Your editing, timing, scene selection, lyric matching, storytelling and everything in this vid were just perfect. And it was so emotional in a way very few vids are.

Your opening sequence was just awe-inspiring. Great idea to show Superman in outer space and then fade to his arrival at the Kent farm.

0:13-This part was so well edited. You matched the rise of the music with the Superman Symbol going back. WOW!

0:27-40-The whole vid was very heroic in tone. This section really set the stage for all the great parts that followed. So cool how you had Clark fly up the elevator and change into Superman and then edited together all those flying scenes.

41-This was one of my favorite parts because it shows how great you are at editing and storytelling all at the same time. You hit the “bam” in the music perfectly with the flash to the picture of “Why the World Doesn’t Need Superman.” Really amazing.

0:49-ohhhh cool scene where you had Clark’s face reflected while he watched Lois and the guy.

57-Superman and Lois side by side. And at 2:16 322 and 324

119-120-Your lyric matching was perfect throughout the entire vid. My favorite lyric match was this one where it said, “No one else will know that part of me” and you matched it to Clark putting back on his glasses. Amazing lyric match to show his angst. My other favorite lyric match was the one at 1:40 of the “I won’t always love these selfish things” and you showed Superman looking in Lois’ window. All your lyric matches were great and you did a wonderful job matching lyrics while telling the Clark/Lois love story.

1:49-Another example of your cool and innovative editing here where you matched the ship takeoff to the music.

239-42-Amazing use of motion here. You put those 2 scenes together and it didn’t look choppy at all. Same thing at 310-312. Its awesome how smooth your editing is and the cool ideas you come up with when you are editing and how well you match them to the music.

255-Cool fade from S symbol to the world Superman protects. You come up with so many cool ideas in your vids and execute them flawlessly.

Finally awesome ending with Hollywood credits next to Superman in space.

Ok first off, thanks for moving the vid to where I should've put it in the first place. I haven't been here in a while and I didn't even know there was a seperate section for non-Smallville vids. lol. I really should read the guide lines and stuff.
Anyway, sorry, my bad! Won't happen again. :)

Amy Mist ~ Heya Amy! Nice to meet ya. I'm Holly btw. :) Ummmm . . . well I just dl it from a torrent site.

vyperman7 ~ Weeeeeeeee . . . there you are Ryan. :D Thank you so much for the awesome feedback. I was really hoping you'd like it.

Yeah this song was a pain in the butt to edit and cut down. I tried to make it as unnoticable as possible but yeah . . . it didn't really work. lol. I was thinking about just leaving it the way is was but I don't think I could've made a 7 and a half minute vid out of a 2 and half hour movie. haha.

I also really appreciate the fact that you not only told me what you liked about but you also said what you also didn't quite like (song editing wise). I guess I still need to keep at it huh?
Anyway, thanks again Ryan. I seriously appreciate the comments and compliments.
Oh and yeah I'm still using Vegas. I don't think I could ever let go of Vegas. It's my precious. lol.

charmedchick ~ Thanks so much Stacy. I'm glad you enjoyed it. You're gonna love the movie whenever you go see it. Well I think you will anyway. Some people didn't like it so much over at LVI but I think it's because they're not really Superman fans. :)
I for one absolutely loved it and I thought the cast did a wonderful job, especially Brandon Routh. He was awesome in the movie. I don't think they could've chosen a better actor for the job. I thought he did great, same with Kate Bosworth.
You'll see what I'm talkin' about. :D

Thil_EL ~ Why thank you for the cool feedback. Happy you liked it. :D

Bearcat ~ Heya Keithers! How goes it? Thanks so much for the awesome feedback here and at LVI. I always love to hear what you think. You always leave to best comments ever! I'm still wondering how you do it though. I'm not that great when it comes to leaving feedback myself but you're like a pro at it. Keith, the feedback leaving pro. haha.

I guess I'm not totally vid blocked after all. lol. So what about you. Any new vids in the making or you still don't have time right now? Just wondering is all cause you know I would love to see a new Bearcat vid sometime. :)

Anyway, I'm hap-hap-happy that you liked it. :D Thanks again everyone!

Go Superman!!! Woot!

Awesome transition from Superman to the Kent mailbox. Like what you did with young Clark jumping in the corn field. The switch from young Clark on the grain silo fixing his glasses to the older Clark in the elevator removing his glasses was fun. Liked the bit at 0'46, with the close up on Clark's face and looking at what's going on around him. Great how she was kissing him at "goodbye". Loved the overlapping shots at 1'22. At 1'49, the shot of the "take off" fit the music nicely. The shot of Lois overlapping the shot of Clark at (ahhh, I can't remember his name) the kid's bedside was awesome as well.

Hollywood, I've just got to say, I LOVE this video! I just can't get enough of it! I keep watching it over and over again! :D I even showed it to my Superman-obsessed best friend! I absolutely loved Superman Returns and to find such a gorgeous video already made for it, and in such awesome quality, I'm just blown away!

There's so many things I love about this video but I'll start off with the very beginning, those two clips overlaid together of Superman looking over his shoulder and the planet Earth zooming up just looks totally awesome.

I love the big red S symbol you put in there from the opening credits and how you had it set just right to zoom out right on the beat. Really neat idea!

I LOVE how right after that when the song picks up you have clips of young Clark running through the corn field and jumping super-high. The pace of those clips just matches the beat of the song right there perfectly, and same goes for the following bits of Clark ripping off his clothes to become Superman and soaring through the air, over the ocean, through the city, right when the song gets even MORE upbeat. Great editing job there. ;)

I adore the clips you chose for "No one else will know these lonely dreams" how you have Superman falling through the air and then Clark waking up in his bed. It's kinda sad. :( But a perfect fit! But I LOVE LOVE the next line for "No one else will know that part of me" how you have Clark looking at Lois as she's distracted picking up her things and that look on his face before he slides his glasses back on. It just speaks volumes--great clip choice there. ;) The clips you chose for "No one else will have me like you do, no one else will have me, only you" are just incredibly touching. Your editing there just really added to it, it made the emotion of the vid/song/story that much more potent. It's one of my favorite parts of the video. :) And I totally love how you ended it, with Superman flying through the clouds and out into space. Perfect.

Just overall a fantastic video! Wonderful job! I hope you do more.

I saw this a while ago but never had a chance to leave feedback (and then I forgot because it's not on the Smallville vid page), but WOW that was absolutely amazing. Fantastic video! One of my new all-time favorite videos no question.

First, your scene selection: SPECTACULAR (to coin Keith's word, awe-inspiring)
Second, your editing: KICKASS (as Ryan said, so incredibly in tune with the song)

I loved every bit of this but if you like I can make a detailed list of favorite parts... (but you haven't posted for a while so I'm not sure if you'll return to even read this, lol)

This is first-rate work, one of the best videos ever made, period. Such an inspiring video, you even inspired KEakaCK to make a SR (containing) video with the song it seems (although he didn't mention your name....hmmmm...)

Once again, sensational video, it's a thing of beauty, a work of art. (That's the first time I've used the word sensational in a review...I think, lol.)

If you have any other videos, I'd love to see them.

Keep up the amazing work,
Xander
