The Beginning Of Forever


Disclaimer: I don’t own any of these characters, except Rachel and Alex.
Summary: Clark is normal; the Kent family adopted him. There was no meteor shower, but Lana’s parents died in a car accident. Nell raced her, and she has not and will not date Whitney. Clark, Chloe, and Pete are best friends. Lana, Rachel, and Alex are best friends. Clark, Lana, Chloe, and Pete are gonna act different then in the show.

Part 1:

“Hi Clark” Lana said as she sat in the seat across from him on the bus.

“Hi” was all he said. He sounded tired and rather upset.

“I heard you made the football team.What position do you play?” Lana asked.

“Quarterback.” Clark answered.

“Your dad used to be a quarterback, right? Did he give you pointers or tips?” Lana paused, noticing that he wasn’t really paying attention. “I’m sorry. Am I bothering you?”

“No, I’m just tired.” Clark responded, finally turning his attention at her. “The defense didn’t defend me. And I took some hard blows. Apparently they all think I shouldn’t be replacing Whitney as quarterback.”

“Figured” Lana said in disgust, “Whitney and his friends think they can do what ever they want just because they play football.”

“Yeah, but don’t let it bother you.” Clark said. There was silence for a while.

“Clark why did we drift apart?” Lana began. “I remember you used to be my boyfriend when we where kids. We used to play together all the time.”

“Yeah we were. I remember my parents saying we shouldn’t be thinking about that at such a young age.” Clark laughed.

“Nell wasn’t too happy either” Lana said laughing along with Clark. “Hey, you still haven’t answered my questioned.”

“Well” Clark began “when we reached elementary school you got a lot of new friends. And there just wasn’t much time for anything or us to talk. And in junior high when you became a cheerleader, well we just talked less often and eventually stopped talking.”

“Why didn’t we try to stay at least friends?” Lana asked, wondering why they didn’t talk anymore, part of her missed him. Even though they had been very young they had really cared for each other, or still did.

“I don’t know about you, but I didn’t want to hold you back.” Clark answered.

“I guess I didn’t really think we would drift apart so much.” Lana said. The bus came to a stop and Clark and Lana walked out, and headed to their homes. “We should hang out, I mean after all your still my boyfriend.” Lana said smiling widely.

“All right” Clark said as they stopped at the fence of her house. “Looks like your Aunt Nell isn’t home”

“Yeah, well that happens often” Lana said.

“Guess, I better head home” Clark said as he began walking to his house, “Goodbye.”

“Clark” Lana called out, he turned around and she kissed him. Lana had had a crush on him for sometime now and remembering he was her boyfriend, and had been for years.

Clark returned the kiss eagerly. Having liked her from afar from years now.

“After all we never broke up” Lana said after they stopped kissing.

I'm still thinking about him having special abilities and being an alien, it wouldn't change the story line much. I have some of the story already typed up and ready, but there are still some things that might change. I'll think about it, and have a answer for sure tomorrow.

[Lost_In_Clana]

PART 1:

After she said that a wide smile filled Clark’s face. He didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t form a complete sentence, not even a one syllable word.

“Say something” Lana said.

“I can’t believe we just kissed.” Clark finally managed to say.

“You mean that I kissed you.” Lana corrected Clark.

“Yeah, well. I’m too much of a coward to take the first step.” Clark admitted embarrassed. They remained silent for a couple of minutes, each lost in their thoughts about the kiss.

“Want to come inside?” Lana asked.

“Sure” Clark answered still smiling. Lana unlocked the door of her home and led Clark to the living room.

“Want something to drink or eat?” Lana asked putting her book bag down and removing her jacket.

“Lemonade will be fine” Clark said as he placed his book bag next to hers.

Lana went into the kitchen and got lemonade for both of them. When she returned she saw Clark sitting on the couch looking around.

“Here” Lana said handing Clark his drink.

“Thanks” Clark said smiling

“Your welcome” Lana said, returning his smile with one of her own. “So what do you want to do?”

“Well, we have a lot of homework” Clark said.

“Yeah, so lets begin.” Lana said, while Clark went to get their book bags.

“How about we start with math.” Clark suggested, handing Lana her book bag.

“Okay” Lana agreed. For the next hours, they worked on their homework.

Suddenly they heard a car pulling up on the driveway. It was Nell.

“I guess I better get going” Clark said.

“Don’t tell me your afraid of Nell” Lana said, as Clark hurriedly began putting his books away.

“She hates me” Clark responded.

“She hates your dad,” Lana corrected.

“She’ll probably take it out on me the first chance she gets.” Clark said as he headed for the door. “Besides, I should go home and do my chores.”

“Alright” Lana agreed defeated.

“Bye” Clark said

“I’d kiss you, if Nell wasn’t coming to the door.” Lana explained to Clark. “Thanks for helping me with my homework”

“Your welcome” Clark said as he walked towards the doorway, now occupied by Nell.

“Hello Clark” Nell said rather coldly.

“Hi” Clark said, “I better head home Lana”

“Right, well see you tomorrow,” Lana said as Nell moved out of the doorway, to let Clark out.

“Bye Lana, Mrs. Potter.” Clark said, then walked out the door. And headed home.

“What?!” Lana asked when Nell gave her a weird look of disapproval, and slight anger.

“I didn’t know you and Clark where friends.” Nell said still looking at Lana disapprovingly. “That’s all”

“Then why did you give me that look?” Lana questioned. “And besides Clark and I used to be great friends. More then friends” Lana whispered the last part.

“What was that last part?” Nell asked walking into the kitchen, to start preparing dinner.

“Nothing” Lana said “Look I’m gonna go out for a while.”

“Just be back before dinner” Nell said as she cooked dinner, “I’m making spaghetti.”

“All right” Lana yelled as she went out the door.

Lana walked towards the Kent house, not knowing what to say. what if his parents answer the door. Well, they know me so it should that awkward. Lana thought. She finally knocked on the door.

“Hello Mrs. Kent” Lana said.

“Lana, Lana Lang” Martha said, “What are you doing here?”

“I’m looking for Clark. Is he around?” Lana asked.

“He’s in his room. Come on in, while I call him down.” Martha said as she led Lana into the living room.

“Okay” Lana said.

Martha went up the stairs and told Clark that Lana was waiting downstairs for him. He rushed down to meet her.

“Lana” Clark said as he reached the bottom of the stairs.

“Hey” Lana said as she went up to him, “Can we outside to talk?”

“Sure” Clark answered, and led Lana outside. Once outside he led her to the loft, where they could talk in private.

“First things first” Lana said, and pulled Clark down for a kiss the moment they reached the top of the stairs. Once they pulled away, Lana said “Now, I actually came over here to ask for your phone number. You kind of left in a hurry, with Nell getting there. So I didn’t get your number, and I wanted to give you my number” Lana said, pulling out her cell phone. “Okay, what’s your number?”

Clark gave Lana his cell number, and Lana gave him her cell number. They sat down on the couch, and began talking about how much they had changed since they where kids. There was also some kissing involved.

“Wait, what time is it?” Lana asked pulling away from their kiss.

“7:20. Why?” Clark said wishing they could go back to kissing.

“Nell said to be back before dinner. Dinner is at 7:30.” Lana got up from the couch and began looking for her cell.

“Here” Clark said hading Lana her phone.

“Thank. Gotta go, bye” Lana kissed Clark, and walked out of the loft in a hurry to get home.

Clark walked back into his house, and found out that his dad was just about to go and look for him. The Kent family enjoyed their dinner.

PART 3:************************************************ ****

When Lana arrived home Nell was just finishing dinner, so she was saved.

“That was some walk” Nell said, giving Lana once again a disapproving look, like she knew Lana had gone to see Clark.

“Why are giving me that look again?” asked Lana as she sat down for dinner.

“What look?” Nell avoided the subject.

“Never mind” Lana said.

Nell and Lana had dinner, Nell avoiding answering why she looked at Lana disapprovingly. Lana trying to avoid answering why she and Clark had been at the house studying.

The next day Lana stood at the bus stop. Clark was walking up to her.

“Hey, first time you get here before the bus is leaving.” Lana laughed.

“Nice to see you too” Clark said. He walked up to her and kissed her cheek.

“Clark, do you want to keep this a secret for now?” Lana asked referring to their relationship.

“Do you?” he asked.

“I don’t want the entire school gossiping about us. Since your the new quarterback, and I'm cheerleading captain, people are gonna gossip about us. And we haven't even gone on a real date yet, we're defenantly not ready to ler everyone know yet” Lana explained.

“Yeah, I guess” Clark said. “We should at least for now.” Clark grinned.

“Okay, then we should try to act like we don’t know the other exists” Lana said.

“It will be hard to act like I don’t know you exist.” Clark said “Specially since you’re my girlfriend.”

“Don’t worry we’ll see each other in the after noon.” Lana began “though we’ll have to be sneaky, our parents can’t know yet. They might slip and tell someone.”

“I’m not sure I can keep it from my parents. They’ll probably notice I’m happier that ever.” Clark said.

“You’ll just have to act normal.” Lana said as she turned her back toward him. “The bus is coming.”

“All right.” Clark said, he turned around pretending he didn’t know her.

The bus came and they got on. Lana went to Rachel and her other cheerleading friends, and Clark to Chloe and Pete. Pete hadn’t tried out for the football team do to an injury but, Clark knew that since the team needed player he was gonna get his chance. Chloe was a sitting next to Pete , they hadn’t expected Clark to get to the bus on time.

“Thanks for saving me a seat” Clark sarcastically said as he looked for a seat. The only seat left close to Pete and Chloe was behind them with Lana at the window, her friend behind her.

“Can I sit here?” Clark barely managed.

Lana turned to look at him, she was surprised.

“Yes” responded Serena, Clark had caught her eye since she found out he was replacing Whitney as quarterback.

“Yeah” Lana finally responded.

The rest of the ride went by uneventfully. Serena kept trying to engage Clark in a conversation, but he was talking to Pete and Chloe so he didn’t say much. By the end of the bus ride Lana knew she was going to have to talk with Serena.

“What are you doing? You have a boyfriend” Lana grabbed Serena’s arm as they got of the bus.

“What? Can’t I have some fun? Besides Clark’s single, and Alex and I broke up yesterday.” Serena said.

“Why didn’t you tell me? Wait, it’s obvious you where to busy trying to talk to Clark.” Lana said as they entered the school.

“Chill, wait. Why are you so mad?” asked Serena curiously.

“What? I’m not mad.” Lana said.

“Whatever” Serena said as she headed for her locker, down the hall. Lana reached her locker, opened, and began pulling out books.

Some of you guys are not gonna like Serena, and she’s just going to get worst.

PART 4:
Clark saw Lana at her locker and realized that, not running into each other was going to be hard. They had a lot of classes together, and their lockers where right next to each other. Clark wondered if Lana knew that.

Lana saw Clark approaching her and wondered what he wanted, after all they had agreed to stay away. Clark reached his locker and didn’t look at Lana. Lana realized Clark was not trying to talk to her.

Lana went to find her friend immediately after she got all the books she needed. Lana knew she was going to have to keep Serena away from Clark. Being Serena’s friends for a while now Lana knew when Serena liked a guy, she could go to extreme measures to get him.

Clark went to his first period class, which Lana was in. When he got their he saw Lana sitting talking to Serena, who looked annoyed, Lana looked angry.

“I can’t believe you broke up with Aaron. You guys where great together. You and Aaron are 2 of a kind.” Lana said.

“Maybe that was it, you two where to much alike. It couldn’t work out.” suggested Rachel, another cheerleading friend of Lana’s.

“It doesn’t matter, it’s over.” said an aggravated Serena.

“Settle down class!” shouted Mr. Robinson their history teacher “Lets begin, turn to page 254 and Ms. Lang please start us off by reading the first 3 paragraphs.”

When class ended Lana was walking with Rachel and Serena. Lana and Rachel where headed to English, while Serena was headed for gym, a class with Aaron. Clark headed to meet Chloe and Pete for history.

Class began, and went by uneventfully until the teacher announced they where going to be partnered up for their first project of the year.

“… Ms. Lang, and Mr. Kent….” announced Mrs. Anderson.

When she said that Lana and Clark immediately looked at each other. Oh god! How are we supposed to pretend to not care of what happens to the other? Lana thought.

This is gonna be harder then I imagined Clark thought. He now knew that sneaking around was going to be extremely difficult. Especially now that they where partners, and where forced to be seen together but only as partners.

After class ended Clark walked next to Lana and slipped a note I to her hand, luckily for him Chloe nor Pete noticed.

Lana opened the note after she sat down in her art class. It read:

Lana,

I know this is going to be difficult. Call me at 3’ o clock so we can arrange when to meet, at what time, and if it’s in secret or not. Be careful not to be seen be your aunt, and I’ll try to not be seen on the phone with you.

Lana smiled, as Serena entered and sat beside her.

“What are you smiling about?” Serena asked.

“Nothing” Lana responded removing the smile from her face.

“Yeah, sure” Serena said.

---------------- After school----------------------------------

Clark sat on the bus next to Pete , with Chloe in front of them.

“What do you guys want to do?” Chloe asked.

“I can’t do anything, I got to help my dad.” Clark announced.

“Well guess we could do something tomorrow.” Pete suggested.

“Hey Clark, shouldn’t you be talking to Lana Lang about your history project?” Chloe asked.

“I haven’t talked to her. I guess I should talk to her tomorrow.” Clark said.

“Why don’t you talk to her at the bus stop. You guys live right next to each other. Right?” Pete suggested.

“Yeah, but we don’t know each other.” Clark responded. “it would only be awkward to talk to her, at her house. I’ll wait ’till tomorrow”

“All right, it’s your decision.” Pete said.

Clark got of the bus followed by Lana, some couple of feet behind him. They began walking toward their homes. They knew that they had to be really sneaky if they didn’t want to be caught.

Lana arrived at her house, there was a note from Nell, it read:

Lana,

There is some spaghetti left in the fridge, and I left some money for you to order something if you want. I’ll be back around 8, I went to Metropolis.

Nell

Lana wasn’t surprised, this happened often. She looked at the clock it was only 2:30. Lana began trying to do her homework, but her mind was on Clark.

PART 5:
Clark and Lana will tell some friends about their relationship soon. Here’s another update.

Just like Lana, Clark couldn’t concentrate. He was helping Jonathan fix the fence. Jonathan noticed this.

“What’s on your mind?” he asked.

“Uh.. Nothing. Just thinking. You know school, football practice, and stuff.” Clark answered.

“Does stuff’ stand for girls” Jonathan asked.

“No” Clark answered, hoping it would convince his dad. “It’s just things I want the team to accept me.”

“Clark don’t worry. I wasn’t accepted easily either.” Jonathan said.

“Dad, your team praise the ground you walked on.” Clark stated.

“That was after we had won the championship.” Jonathan began “when I started I was a sophomore. The seniors weren’t happy, they thought it was unfair that I was starting when a senior, who they had been playing with for 3 years with. But they accepted me when I redeemed myself. I played an important part in our wins.”

“I guess I should be ready for games, and wait for them to come around then” Clark said.

“Yes. Now are you sure that’s all?”

“Yeah. Don’t worry dad that was it.” Clark said. As he looked at his watch. “Dad I should go and start my homework.”

“Yeah, you should. Go home” Jonathan said.

Clark entered his room took out his books, and took out his cell phone to call Lana.

“Hello” came Lana’s voice.

“Hey, I know I said you should call me, but I decided it would be better if I called.” Clark explained.

“It’s all right, I’m glad you called. I was to nervous to call you.” Lana confessed.

“Yeah, well I was nervous too.” Clark said. “But I managed to call”

“I’m glad you did.” Lana smiled. “Clark, what are we gonna do? I mean with us being partners, and S-” Lana stopped herself from saying Serena. “And everything else.”

“I’m not sure” Clark began, “ I have several plans. First to just act like partners, and only meet in private on certain times.”

“Why don’t we just not keep our relationship a secret?” Lana asked.

“I thought You said-” “Yeah, I did.” Lana interrupted.

“But I don’t think this is gonna be easy, with our relationship a secret” Lana Explained.

“Can we just give it a try?” Clark asked.

“Keeping our relationship a secret?” Lana questioned.

“Yeah, I kind of like it, you know us sneaking around.” Clark smiled.

“I guess it could be fun” Lana paused to think. “Okay, we can give it a try.”

“Yes! Come over in an hour” Clark said.

“Is that a question?” Lana asked.

“Well… yes.” Clark said.

“All right. Where should I go?”

“How about we meet at the stables? We could go riding.” Clark suggested.

“Okay. I love riding.” Lana stated.

“We can meet there in half hour” Clark said good bye and hung up.

Lana looked at the clock it was 3:30. She sight and continued her homework.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Here's a long update.

PART 6:
Lana was almost at the stables. As she approached she saw Clark standing near the door.

“Hey” he said as he walked up to her.

“Hey yourself.” Lana said, before she pulled him down for a kiss. “Come inside, and get our horses” Lana ordered after they pulled apart.

Clark obediently entered. Clark had gotten his horse ready when he arrived, which was quite early, so he helped her get Donatello.

“Where do you want to go?” Clark asked.

“Evan’s field” Lana answered.

“Okay” Clark agreed.

The couple rode of toward Evan’s field. They rode in silence for most of the time.

Finally Clark broke the silence “Alex told me Serena broke up with him. Do you know what happened??”

“She broke up with Alex?” Lana asked not sure she heard correctly. Serena made it sound like they broke up because of a fight.

“Yeah, or at least that’s what he said.” Clark answered. Noticing she must of heard a different version of the break up.

“I don’t know any more than you know about it. Actually you know more. Clark, Why do you care what happens?” Lana asked curiously.

“Well Aaron is my friend, and he seemed pretty down about it.” Clark answered, “Why?” Is she jealous? Lana Lang jealous of a girl liking me? Clark thought.

“Its just Serena’s …” Lana paused trying to think of something to say. What do I say? I can’t tell him I’m jealous. Wait I’m not jealous, I’m just not happy with Serena’s attitude. Right?? Lana thought.

“What?” Clark asked, the curiosity within him telling him to ask if she was jealous, but it was not strong enough to make him ask.

“Nothing” Lana decided on telling him. “Nothing”

“If you say so.” Clark wished she had told him what about Serena bothered her, but kept quite. While talking with Pete earlier at school, Pete had told Clark that Serena seemed interested in him.

“Penny for you thoughts” Lana said breaking the silence that had settled in.

“I’d prefer a kiss” Clark responded.

“All right.” Lana said, before she guided her horse as close to his as possibly, and pulling him in for a kiss, Clark gladly returned.

“Now, what’s on your mind?” Lana asked after she pulled away.

“That was to quick, and I didn’t agree to tell you even if you kissed me.” Clark complained.

“Will you tell me what’s on your mind if the kiss is longer?” Lana asked as she got off Donatello, tied him up, and sat down under the shadow of the Oak Tree.

“Maybe. I depends on how good of a kiss it is.” Clark responded.

“Then come and see for your self.” Lana said.

Clark sat down beside her, and leaned in for a kiss. They kissed for as long as possible with out coming up for air. Finally they pulled away.

“So what’s on your mind?” Lana asked smiling as she saw Clark’s eye’s where still closed.

“Huh… oh… um.” Clark couldn’t think of a proper answer, and this pleased Lana. “I was…um…just thinking…about…um..” for a moment Clark thought of saying Serena, but realized that would be stupid. An he hadn’t been thinking of Serena, he had been thinking of what had upset Lana.

“Well? Why can’t you just tell me?” Lana questioned.

“I was thinking of what about Serena upsets you.” Clark finally confessed.

“Oh” Lana said.

“Will you tell me?” Clark asked.

“It’s just… um…” Lana struggled to confess her jealousy.

“You don’t have to tell me if your not comfortable.” Clark reassured Lana.

“I was……Jealous.” Lana finally confessed.

“Jealous?” Clark asked, this was flattering. Lana Lang was jealous of a girl liking him.

“Yeah, you know Serena likes you, and I thought maybe you liked her.” Lana continued. “ And even if you didn’t, Serena would go to extreme measures to have a guys she likes. Even if it’s at the expense of someone else being hurt. Or if she only last with the guys for 2 days. Or half a day.” Lana concluded.

“You don’t have to be jealous. I don’t like her, and no matter what she tries I won’t return any of her feelings.” Clark reassured. Clark had to stop himself from saying he loved her, they had only been together for a some days.

“Thanks for saying that, but it stilt doesn’t stop me from worrying about her trying to separate us even if unintentional.” Lana said.

“Don’t worry, I won’t let anything come between us.” Clark said. “Nothing, okay?”

“Yeah” Lana smiled and kissed him,. They kissed, and talked about school, and anything that came up.

Lana pulled away from him, and asked. “What time is it?”

Clark looked at his watch, “4:20. Why?”

“I have to get home, finish my homework, and do a whole lot of things.” Lana panicked, got up climbed onto Donatello.

“Crap! I also have to get home.” Clark jumped up climbed onto his horse. They both rode away, once at the stables they said their goodbyes, and head home.

“Where have you been?” yelled Nell just as Lana entered the living room.

“Walking” Lana answered, having noticed Nell’s car in the driveway and had come up with a good excuse.

“Walking? You expect me to believe you spent about an hour walking?” Nell asked trying to calm down.

“I was walking.” Lana defended herself. At least for the last 15 minutes Lana thought.

“Lana I’m not naïve.” Nell stated.

“Look you can believe me or not, that’s your call.” Lana said.

Nell didn’t respond, she just headed upstairs. Lana went into the living room and began doing her homework.

Clark arrived at the farm and immediately Jonathan yelled at him about his responsibilities at the farm.

“Clark, I know your young, but you have to be responsible.” Jonathan finally calmed down his voice.

“Dad I just lost track of time. I’m sorry.” Clark defended himself.

“Clark if you keep this up you’ll be grounded. Now go and do your chores before I change my mind about you not being grounded yet.” Jonathan ordered Clark.

Clark obediently left for his chores. He wondered how he and Lana could continue meeting without problems. Clark hoped Lana didn’t have problems with her aunt Nell. If she did, it could bring problems for their relationship.

PART 7:
As he finished his chores, hour and a half hour later, Clark headed home. When he entered, his mom welcomed him and told him his appetite would have to wait ‘till dinner.

“Clark, dinner is almost ready, so get out of my kitchen. So you don’t spoil your appetite.” Martha said, as she pushed Clark out of the kitchen.

“Fine, just make sure you call me when it’s ready.” Clark left and went to his room to finish his homework. Minutes later his mom called him down for dinner.

“Clark, why did you skip your chores today?” Martha asked after they where all seated.

“I wasn’t feeling well, so I went out for a walk. I lost track of time.” Clark lied.

“For an hour and 45 minutes?” questioned Jonathan, obviously not believing anything, along with Martha.

“Yeah, like I said I just lost track of time. That’s all.” Clark began stuffing his face so he couldn’t answer anymore questions from his parents.

“If you say so.” Jonathan responded, Martha nodded in agreement.

For the rest of their dinner the Kents said very little to each other, most of what was said revolved around passing food. They avoided talking about Clark skipping his chores.

For Lana, things went rather well. Nell didn’t inquire where Lana had really been for the hour and 45 minutes.

“Nell I’m going to bed.” Lana went up the stairs to her room. Once there, she went the bookshelf and pulled out a book with a leather covering. There was 2 more books like it, the books where diaries Lana had written in since she was 7. Lana had been comforted by being able to write down her thoughts, since she had never been comfortable talking with Nell about her feeling or thoughts.

Lana began writing about her day, yesterday she had not written. She had been to busy waiting for the next day to come, she had forgotten. Lana wrote about the past 2 days, about Clark, and about how they where gonna keep their relationship a secret.

When Lana finished she wondered if she had written about Clark in her diary before. If they had been really close she probably had. Lana got up and pulled out the diaries, she realized that she had mentioned him a lot. Then Lana came across an entry she wrote a long time ago.

Dear diary, Saturday May 23rd 1995

Today Nell took me to Clark’s house. Clark and I escaped our parents and went to the woods. We played tag for a while, but then we went back to his parents’ farm. Nell took me home shortly after we got back. I wish we could have stayed longer, I love spending time with Clark, he’s really nice, sweet, and thoughtful. Can’t write more Nell is making me go to bed.

Lana wondered if Clark remembered this. Then Lana found another entry:

Dear diary, Tuesday 26th 1995

Clark didn’t come to school today he was sick with the flu. Nell took me to visit him, I told him one day I was gonna be a nurse and be able to cure him. He said he wished I was a nurse now, then I could heal him. And we could spend time together, I miss spending time with Clark. We used to do a lot together but now he is sick, and according to his parents he’ll probably be sick for a couple of days.

Lana laughed, this was hilarious. She and Clark spent so much time together. Lana wondered if they had ever kissed, as she tried to remember kissing him. Lana couldn’t remember kissing Clark, just as Lana was going to continue reading her phone rang.

“Hello” she answered.

“Lana its me Rachel. Where have you been? You haven’t talked to me since we where on the bus. Are you okay?” Rachel questioned.

“I’m fine, there’s no need to worry.” Lana responded, wishing she could continue reading her diary.

“Then how come you where so distracted at school today?” Rachel asked.

“I was just distracted. That’s all.” Lana answered.

“Distracted? Do you really think that I’ll believe that? And where were you after school? I called your house, Nell answered and said you weren’t there. And I thought where could Lana go without Nell knowing? I asked her if she had any idea as to where you where. She said “I have no idea.” Where were you?” Rachel was almost screaming.

Lana knew she shouldn’t hide things from her best friend, since the 3rd grade, but she couldn’t tell Rachel about her and Clark. She had promised not to tell anyone. For a couple of minutes neither Lana nor Rachel said anything.

“Rachel, I can’t tell you where I was.” Lana broke the silence. “I promised someone I wouldn’t tell. You know that I’m a woman of my word. I can’t break my promise, you of all people should understand.”

“Yeah, I do. Is there anything you can tell me?” Rachel asked.

“Not right now. I’ll to talk to- the person I made the promise to, maybe I could tell you. Can I call you in 10 minutes? ” Lana said.

“Yeah. I’m assuming that when you tell me what your hiding, you’ll tell me who you made that promise to.” Rachel said.

“Yeah, I will.” Lana said goodbye and hung up. She then picked up the phone and called Clark.

PART 8:
“Yeah, I will.” Lana said goodbye and hung up. She then picked up the phone and called Clark.

“Hello Lana.” Clark answered.

“How’d you know it was me.” Lana asked.

“I have caller id.” Clark responded.

“Oh right, that was stupid of me.” Lana laughed “Clark, I called because I want to tell Rachel, my best friend, about us. I know we agreed not to tell anyone, but I think I could actually help us. She could help cover up, and if you want to tell one of your friends that fine.” Lana concluded.

“You sure?” Clark asked.

“Yeah, I’m sure” Lana responded.

“Well then can I tell Pete?” Clark asked.

“Yeah, if you want to. Having someone know about us will help us cover up with your parents and Nell.” Lana stated.

“Yeah, Lana is that all that you wanted to talk about?” Clark said.

“Yes, I have to call Rachel back. See you tomorrow?” Lana asked rather than stated.

“Yeah, tomorrow.” Clark agreed.

Lana and Clark said goodbye, and Lana called Rachel.

“So what are you hiding?” Rachel asked the moment she put the phone to her head.

Lana realized she didn’t know how to tell Rachel she and Clark had a secret relationship.

“Well?” Rachel broke the silence.

“Rachel…… I have a secret relationship… with.” Lana paused and wondered how Rachel would react to the news.

“Secret relationship? With who?” questioned Rachel.

“You know Clark Kent and I used to be great friends. Well turns out we where mor-” Lana was interrupted by Rachel saying: “He was your boyfriend. You guys always said that.”

“We did?” Lana asked, not remembering ever saying that.

“Yeah, you did. You guys where inseparable.” Rachel answered.

“Oh. Anyway I talked to him yesterday on the bus, and we sort of decided to pick up where we left of.” Lana waited for Rachel to say something.

“You mean you guys are together? Like you where when we where kids? ” Rachel couldn’t believe Lana was saying that.

“Yeah, except this time it’s for real.” Lana began “Clark and I have agreed to keep it a secret. We don’t want the entire school gossiping about us. And I don’t know how to tell Nell. His parents will accept anyone he’s with as long as he’s happy. Nell won’t be happy when I tell her.”

“Why?”

“She went out with Clark’s dad, he dumped her and less than a year later married Martha. Nell has been rather bitter about it. Nell always said “Kent men only ’cause heartache”. So she’ll probably say something like “Lana, your going to get your heart broken and you’ll remember me.” I can just see it already.” Lana laughed.

“You really think she can hold a grudge for that long” Rachel asked.

“You clearly don’t know Nell like I do.” Lana answered.

“Lana why don’t you call her ‘aunt Nell‘” Rachel had always wondered but never found the time.

“Nell’s more like an overprotective older sister.” Lana explained.

“Okay. Well it’s kind of late so I should go to sleep.” Rachel said.

“Yeah, bye” Lana agreed, and they hung up. Lana went to sleep.

The next day Lana was at the bus stop earlier than usual for more than 1 reason. Nell was looking at her like she expected her to confess where she had actually been for the hour and 45 minutes she spent with Clark and walking home thinking about Clark. Lana also wanted to get a chance to talk to Clark before school started.

Lana could see Clark walking to the bus stop. He must of seen her heading to the bus stop and was smart enough to realize she wanted to talk to him. She smiled remembering what she had written in her diary years ago. Clark approach her and noticed immediately she was smiling.

“Are you that happy to see me?” Clark asked smiling himself.

“You’re not that cute” Lana responded still smiling.

“Ouch” Clark pretended to be hurt as he clutched his hand over his heart.

“Stop pretending” Lana said and kissed him.

“I will if you kiss me again.” Clark saw the bus coming and realized they should stop, at least for now. “Never mind. The bus is coming.” Lana reluctantly walked away from him.

Once on the bus Lana spotted Rachel and Serena immediately at the back of the bus. Lana could tell Serena was wearing an extremely short skirt, no doubt to attract Clark’s attention. Lana had to remember what Clark told her yesterday to restrain herself from telling Serena she if she was so pretty then why did she have to resort to slut like ways to attract Clark’s attention.

Lana was torn from her thoughts by Rachel almost screaming in her ear “Lana, hello anybody home?”

“What?” Lana finally snapped out of her thoughts.

“Finally. What’s up? I’ve tried to get your attention 3 times.”

“Sorry. What’d you say?” Lana asked.

“I said ’who’s your partner for the history project?” Rachel re stated.

“Clark Kent” Lana could see Serena’s eyes about to pop out of her head. She was clearly not pleased. “Who’s yours?”

“Pete” Rachel said.

“Alex” Serena was not happy about her partner being her ex boyfriend, while Lana’s partner was Clark.

“How are you guys gonna work on the project when you’re fitting all the time? Yesterday in gym you guys couldn’t stand each other.” Rachel explained.

“I don’t know, but we’ll have to figure it out soon. The project is due in a month, and I’m not good with projects.” Serena noticed Clark and Chloe sitting next to each other with Pete in front of them. She wondered if she was his girlfriend. “Is that his girlfriend?” she nodded toward them.

“Chloe? No she’s just there friend. Alex told me Pete and Chloe like each other.” Rachel informed Serena much to Lana’s and Serena’s happiness. Serena because it meant she had a chance with him, and Lana because she didn’t have to worry about Chloe liking Clark.

“How would Alex know?” Lana asked. “Alex isn’t there friend.”

“Pete told him once in gym, it was a game. The person would try to make a free-throw, who ever missed would have to tell a secret. Pete missed and told Alex he like Chloe but she didn’t know. And Alex a saw a note Chloe wrote to someone, I don’t know to who, anyway it said she like Pete, but he didn’t know.” Rachel explained.

“Oh” Lana looked at Serena, she was starring at Clark, probably trying to think of a way to make him like her.

PART 10:
Lana, Rachel, and Serena where walking to their lockers, Lana saw Alex at his locker. She remembered he had really cared about Serena, she decided to talk to him.

“Alex” Lana waited for Alex to respond.

“Hey, Lana. What’s up?” Lana could see Alex wasn’t happy.

“I was hopping we could talk. Can we?” Lana asked noticing hi wasn’t eager to talk.

“Lana, class is about to start. Can we talk later?” was all Alex said, he didn’t even looked at her.

“Sure. How about at lunch?” Lana suggested.

“Yeah, I’m sitting with Clark and his friends today.” Alex stated.

“I thought that was just for one day. Yesterday. You always sat with me, Rachel, Serena, Stacey, Luis, Steven, and Josh.” Lana couldn’t believe this Alex had broken up with other girls, but most of the time they remained friends.

“I can’t sit near Serena, we’ll end up arguing. So I decided to sit with Clark and his friends. So we can talk at lunch at, or you can call me.” Alex was obviously not planning on staying friends with Serena.

“I’ll talk to you at lunch.” Lana agreed defeated. She went to her locker got her books and headed for class.

Clark and Alex where walking to lunch when Alex deiced to tell Clark about Lana joining them for lunch.

“Clark, someone is coming to sit with us at lunch” Alex waited for a response from Clark.

“Who?” Clark wondered.

“Lana Lang” Alex whispered.

“Who?” Clark asked again.

“Lana Lang” Alex said finally at a loud enough voice for him to hear.

“What?!” Clark shouted causing people to turn to them.

“Lana Lang is joining us for dinner” Alex said walking faster to avoid people looking at him.

“Why?” Clark asked caching up to Alex.

“She and I have something to talk about and lunch is the best time to do so.”

Alex and Clark walked into the lunch room. They out their books down and went to get their lunch.

“So, why is Ms. Popular going to join us for lunch, and grace us with her presence?” Chloe didn’t like Lana. She thought Lana was a selfish, self-centered, egotistic cheerleader.

“First of all: she isn’t Ms. Popular. Second: don’t called her that, she’s my friends. And third: Lana and I have something to talk about.” Alex hated when people assumed Lana was like most other cheerleaders, neither was Rachel Serena maybe but not Rachel and Lana.

“Okay, sorry.” Chloe didn’t mean it.

“Lana, sit here.” Alex pointed to the empty seat next to him. Clark was on his other side, and in front of Clark was Pete with Chloe next to him.

PART 11:
Chloe, Pete, and Clark started their own conversation, knowing that Lana’s and Alex’s conversation was private. Clark couldn’t help but try to listen to what they were saying. He had no luck, their voices were only low enough for them to hear.

“Did Serena say why she broke up with you?” Lana asked.

“Yeah, she said our relationship wasn’t how she wanted it to be.” Alex was slightly sad, he hadn’t loved Serena, but it hurt him she didn’t even have a good excuse to break up with him. “I don’t even know what she meant by that. Every thing was fine, then she just broke it off.”

“We always said Serena had a screw loose somewhere in her head, it’s gone missing.” Lana said causing herself and Alex to laugh.

“Yeah” Alex noticed Clark looking at them, or rather Lana. “Clark, is something wrong?”

“No” Clark couldn’t believe they caught him starring at Lana.

“Then why are you starring at us” Lana asked, knowing he had been starring at her, but decided to save him embarrassment.

Clark couldn’t think of an excuse. Finally he came up with one. “I was just thinking and I ended up looking in your direction.” Clark lied.

“Okay” Alex accepted this excuse, but looked at him suspiciously. Alex realized that he hadn’t introduced Chloe and Lana. “I haven’t introduced you guys” he motioned between Chloe and Lana. “Lana this is Chloe Sullivan, Chloe this is Lana lang.”

“Nice to meet you.” Lana waited for Chloe to shake her hand.

“Same here” Chloe said, but they all knew she didn’t mean it, even Lana could tell by the sound of her voice. She wasn’t going to change her mind about Lana just yet.

“Lana” called someone from behind them. Lana turned around to see Rachel standing there.

“I’ll be right back” Lana got up to talk to Rachel.

“Chloe, could you at least give her a chance before you start judging her?” Alex asked slight anger evident in his voice.

“Look I’m not going to change my mind about her until I see with my own eyes she’s different then every cheerleader I’ve met.” Chloe responded. “So stop bugging me about it.”

“Whatever” Alex turned to see Lana and Rachel still talking.

PART 12:
“Serena did what?!?” Lana asked unable to believe what Rachel said.

“Cheated on Alex over the summer. Remember Serena went to Metropolis to visit her grandparents over the summer, it turns out she did more than visit her grandparents. While she was there, her parents took her to visit an old friend of theirs. They had a son, named Adam, he and Serena met when they where kids, before she moved here. Serena and Adam talked they got along great, he asked her out and she said yes. The entire summer she cheated on Alex with and old friend, than Adam guys didn’t know she had a boyfriend.” Rachel paused to take a breath.

“When summer ended Serena broke up with him, saying it wouldn’t work out he lived in Topeka and she here in Smallville. He was only visiting with parents for the summer. Serena came back and acted as if she had missed Alex over the summer. She told Stacey, but never told us.” Rachel finished.

“How do you know?” Lana asked.

“She just told me a couple minutes ago, apparently Adam is moving to Metropolis. Serena kept in contact with him, and they’re planning on giving it another shot. That’s why she broke up with Alex.” Rachel answered.

“Why didn’t she tell me?”

“Because your closer to Alex than me. You guys are like best friends.” Rachel said. “She figured you’d tell him.”

“Of course I’m telling him.” Lana was about to return to sit down when Rachel grabbed her arm.

“Don’t tell him, at least not yet. If you do he’ll confront Serena about it, and Serena will know it was me who told you, and you told him. Or that I told him. Wait to tell him. Wait. It‘s not a good time to tell him.” Rachel reasoned.

“All right” Lana agreed. “I should get back to them” Lana said looking towards Clark’s table. “And you to Serena” Lana went back to the table.

“What was all that about?” Alex asked once she sat back down.

“Nothing” Lana lied.

Alex looked at her skeptically, but said nothing. Lunch ended and the rest of the day went by uneventfully. Clark saw Lana and Alex walking together to every class they had together, and that was all except 2 classes. Someone said that Alex cheated on Serena with Lana, and that’s why Serena broke up with Alex. Now Serena wasn’t talking to Lana even though Lana denied having an affair with Alex. Rachel, knowing Lana had only eyes for Clark, stopped talking to Serena.

“I can’t believe Serena believed the gossip. She of all people should know all of it’s lies, since she made up some of the rumors.” Lana was sitting next to Alex on the bus, Rachel sat in front of them.

“Yeah well it’s Serena.” Alex had tried to convince Serena that he hadn’t cheated on her, much less with Lana, but she refused to believe him.

“Do guys know who started the rumors?” Rachel asked.

“No, but id don’t need to. You know Alicia, she hates me, and Alex rejected her, when she asked him out, so she probably started the rumors.” Lana said.

“Yeah,” Alex agreed. “Lana, have you talked to Serena?”

“No, I don’t think she’ll talk to me, and I don’t want to talk to her.” Lana answered.

While they continued talking, Chloe, Pete, and Clark were talking about them.

“I can’t believe they would do something like that to Serena. I mean, she may have been selfish and all, but she didn’t deserve that.” Chloe said.

“Chloe, how can you actually believe that?” Clark asked. “You heard it from the most unreliable source.”

“Clark why don’t you believe it? It is pretty convincing, them going out. I mean they went every where together today, she sat with him at lunch, and he and Serena broke up two days ago.” Chloe stated.

“There’s no point in arguing with her Clark. Why don’t we all forget it?” Pete suggested.

“I won’t forget it ’cause I think it’s just a rumor, gossip. I don’t get why she believes it, she heard it at school.” Clark tried to convince Pete.

“She is standing right here.” Chloe said. “Look, until it’s proven other wise, I’ll continue thinking he cheated on Serena with Lana.”

“Look this is my stop, bye.” Clark got of the bus followed by Lana.

PART 13-1: The Date

They walked in silence for a while, both lost in thought. Lana trying to find a way to start a conversation. Clark trying to think of a way to ask Lana what she and Alex, talked about, ’cause after lunch was when things started to spread.

“Lana, What did you and Alex talk about?” Clark broke the silence.

“Why Serena broke up with him.” Lana answered, obviously not happy about the answer.

“Do you know why?” Clark asked.

“Yeah, but I can’t tell you, and Alex doesn’t know, yet.” Lana said.

“I understand.” Clark said.

“Did you tell Pete yet?” Lana asked changing the subject.

“No, it slipped my mind.” Clark said, obviously referring to the rumor of Alex cheating on Serena with Lana.

“Clark, do you believe the rumors?” Lana hesitantly asked.

“No, but it just seems hard not to. You and Alex are really close and have been for a long time. I don’t believe the rumors, but I can’t prove otherwise.” Clark honestly answered.

“I know it’s really believable, but it’s not true. Alex is just my best male friend” Lana reasoned.

“I know, but I can’t help but think about the possibility.” Clark said.

“Yeah. Clark, I was, um…thinking about not keeping us a secret. It would calm the rumors” Lana reasoned.

“On 1 condition.” Clark was smiling widely.

“What condition?” Lana asked returning his smile.

“That we wait ’till we’ve been on one date.” Clark said as they reached her house.

“Are you asking me out?” Lana asked as she unlocked the door.

“It depends. Are you free Saturday?”

“What time?”

“Is 6 o’clock good for you?” Clark asked.

“See you later.” Lana walked in to her house.

“Bye “Clark entered his house smiling widely, so widely his parents noticed.

“Why are you smiling so widely?” Jonathan asked.

“I got a date.” was all Clark answered.

“With whom?” Jonathan asked.

“My partner for our history project. “Clark answered.

“And who is that?“ Jonathan asked.

“Lana Lang” Clark said before he went up the stairs, knowing his parent where going to start asking all kinds of questions.

PART 13-2: The Date
Clark began doing homework when his phone rang.

“Hello” Clark answered the phone.

“Hey man. Look, do you know Rachel McMillan’s phone number?” Pete asked.

“No, why do you need it?” Clark responded.

“She’s my history partner, and we haven’t talked since the project was assigned.” Pete began “I thought I should call her, but I don’t know her number.”

“Shouldn’t you guys have exchanged phone numbers?” Clark said.

“Yeah, but I told you we didn’t talk.”

“Look, I don’t know her number, but Lana does. I’ll call her, get Rachel’s number and then we can talk.” Clark said.

“Okay.” Pete hung up, as did Clark.

Lana was in her room, doing her homework, while talking to Rachel.

“So, did he say where he was taking you?” Rachel asked excited about Clark asking Lana out.

“No, but it doesn’t matter.” Lana responded, suddenly she got another call. “Hold on Rachel, I got another call.”

“Okay” Rachel said.

“Hello, who’s this?” Lana asked.

“It’s me Clark. Lana, you know Pete is Rachel’s partner for our history project. He needs her phone number, so I thought you could give me her number and I could give it to Pete.” Clark was surprised he managed to say that all in one breathe.

“Okay” Lana gave Clark Rachel’s number, hung up, and continued her conversation with Rachel. “Rachel, when was the last time you went on a date?”

“A date? I don’t know, maybe since school started. Why?” Rachel responded.

“I was just wondering.” Lana said. I was hoping to get you a guy, so you could leave me alone. With a guy her mind will be on him, instead of what I’m doing. God, she’s too nosy, Lana thought.

“I don’t believe that, Lana your not a very good liar. You know that, right?” Rachel snapped Lana out of her thoughts.

“What?! I’m not lying. I’m jus-” Lana was stopped by Rachel’s call waiting. “Go ahead. Take the call. I can wait.”

“Okay” Rachel responded, and took the call.

PART 13-3: The Date
While Rachel and Pete talk, Lana pulled out her dairy to write about her day. Her entry read:

Dear diary,

Today Clark asked me out!! I’m sooo happy, he didn’t say where we where going, but it doesn’t matter. It will be our first official date, unless you count when we where 5 years old and we had lunch at his house alone, while Nell and his parents had there lunch. After our date, we’re going to tell people about our relationship. I can’t wait to see Serena’s face when she finds out about Clark and I, she’s had her eyes set on Clark for sometime now. Ever since I noticed Serena looking at Clark, with a look I know too well, the one she has when trying to think about how to get the attention of a guy.

Lana’s writing was interrupted by Rachel’s’ voice coming from the phone on her shoulder.

“Sorry, I was writing.” Lana said.

“In your dairy, I assume.” Rachel said.

“Yes, but forget about that. What’d you and Pete talk about?” Lana asked.

“How’d you know it was Pete?” Rachel asked.

“Clark was the one who called me. He asked for your number to give to Pete.” Lana explained.

“Okay, we just talked about our project. That’s it.” Rachel said.

“Okay.” Lana said. Wonder who I could set Rachel up with. Pete likes Chloe, he’s out of the question. What about Alex? Where did that thought come from? Alex is still hurt form his breakup with Serena. Lana thought.

“Hello? Lana are you down from cloud 9 yet?” Rachel was annoyed.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm working on the update, but it'll probably not be ready 'till tomorrow. It'll mainly focus on clark planning the date, and the days before their date. The next update after that will be there date. Thank for being patient.

PART 13-4: The Date
While Rachel and Lana talk, Clark and Pete did the same.

“I can’t believe she’s your girlfriend!” shouted an excited Pete. “Even though you haven’t been on a date with her. Man, how is that possible, your girlfriend is the captain of the cheerleading squad, about the prettiest girl in school, and you haven’t even been on 1 date. 1 date!”

“Calm down! You remember we where close when we where kids, we decided we where a couple. Now, Lana decided we didn’t need to go on 1 date for her to become my girlfriend. And besides we‘re going on a date on Saturday.” Clark explained.

“So, where are you taking her?” Pete asked.

“I don’t know, I haven’t really thought about it. Do you have any ideas?” Clark asked.

“No, but I’m sure you’ll come up with something.” Pete encouraged “look man, I have to go, talk to you later”

“Alright, bye.” Clark hung up.

There was a knock on the door, at the door was his mom.

“ Mom, what are you doing here?” Clark asked.

“I came here to ask you about your date with Lana Lang,” Martha answered.

“What about my date with her?” Clark said.

“For starters, how did you and Lana meet?” Martha began her questioning.

“Lana and I meet when we where kids. But days ago on the bus after football and cheerleading practices where over, she sat with me on the bus. We talked and when I was walking her to her house we ended up talking and became friends. Today, walking I asked her out.” Clark finished.

“Clark, the day you skipped your chores, where you with her?” Martha asked.

“Yeah, we went riding and lost track of time.” Clark answered, he wasn’t lying he just didn’t tell her they made out. “Is that the end of this questioning session?”

“Yes, I think that’s all I need to know.” Martha answered and left the room.

After she left Clark began to plan his date with Lana. I could take her to the movies, which would be good. I got my permit, and hopefully Dad will let me borrow the car. I’d hate to have her pick me up that would be embarrassing. But just taking her to the movies wouldn’t be special. I want our first date to be special, something to remember.

Clark spent the rest of the night, doing his homework, hoping to have time to plan his date with Lana completely tomorrow. Clark was walking toward the bus stop when he saw Lana at the bus stop on her cell. As he got closer, he could hear what she was saying.

Lana: Rachel, please I can’t keep this from him! He’s my friend and every time I see him, I want to tell him what she did………….. No, I haven’t told him either, and he respects it’s….. Bye.

“What was all that about?” Clark asked as he stopped walking a few feet from Lana.

“I was talking to Rachel.” Lana responded. “Don’t I get a good morning kiss?”

“Of course” Clark walked up to Lana and kissed her. “The bus is coming.”

“Is it just me, or the bus is coming earlier then usual? Or do just get here late?” Lana asked before she turned around, and waited for the bus to get there.

The rest of the day went by uneventfully. For Alex and Lana the day went by slowly, everyone seemed to think he had cheated on Serena with Lana. For Clark the day was spent trying to avoid conversations about Lana, Alex and Serena. Chloe especially wouldn’t stop talking about the subject, and it was starting to annoy not only Clark, but Pete as well.

The rest of the days, where just the same, with some minor differences. On Friday, Clark was in his room planning the finishing touches to his date with Lana on Saturday.

When Lana woke up on Saturday she was nervous, today my date with Clark! Wonder where he’s taking me. Lana thought.

“Lana, breakfast is ready!” Nell yelled from down stairs.

“Coming!” Lana got up and went to take a shower. After her shower Lana got dressed and headed down the stairs.

After breakfast Lana decided to go riding, she figured it would help her forget her date, Clark, and how school going, and Serena, Alex, and the rumors at school about her and Alex.

Lana rode for hours, until her stomach told her it was time to eat lunch. She decided not to eat at home, so she went to a pizza place. When Lana got there, she saw Rachel and Alex sitting together, so she went up to them to join them.

“Hey guys! What’re you guys doing here? And why didn’t you call me?” Lana asked.

“We’re here to eat lunch, and we tried calling you but your cell must have been off.” Alex answered.

“Oh, yeah it was. Sorry. Can I join you guys?” Lana asked.

“Go ahead.” Rachel pointed to the seat in front of Alex and herself.

“What do you want? My treat.” Alex offered.

“I’ll have a slice of pepperoni pizza and a coke.” Lana accepted his offer.

“Okay, I’ll be right back.” Alex got up and walked towards the counter having already taken Rachel’s order.

“So Lana, what have you been doing?” Rachel asked.

“I went riding at Evan’s field. It helped me forget about ny date with Clark, if I had been thinking about it I would be a nervous wreck.” Lana laughed. “What have you been doing?”

“Alex and I have been spending the day together. You know he’s been kind of down since Serena broke it off.” Rachel said.

“Rachel, I don’t know how long I can keep this from him. I told you days that days ago. How much longer do we have to keep this form him?”

“At least ‘till next week. By then he should be able to take it maturely.” Rachel explained.

“Okay, but what about Clark. I haven’t told him, and he respects my decision, but I don’t want to keep it from him.” Lana explained.

“It’s better to keep it between us, and when we tell Alex you can tell Clark. If you tell Clark before we tell Alex, and he finds out then he’ll be twice as mad.” Rachel reasoned.

“Yeah, I guess.” Lana agreed. Alex came with their drinks and food, and the trio enjoyed lunch together.

After they finished, Lana and Rachel went walking while Alex went to met some friends. Rachel and Lana where talking when Lana’s cell rang.

“Hello?” Lana said.

“Hey, Lana. It’s me Clark. About our date, I was thinking about going to the movies. And I wanted to ask you what movie you wanted to watch, I wanted to get the tickets early, so we could skip the line.” Clark said.

“What about Ocean’s Eleven? I’d love to see that movie.” Lana suggested.

“Okay, Lana can we meet today? In 25 minutes?” Clark asked.

“Yeah, want to meet at the Beanery?”

“Okay, bye” Clark hung up.

“What was that about?” Rachel asked.

“Clark was wondering if we could meet in 10 minutes at the Beanery. Which means I should get going. See you later.” Lana began walking away.

“Bye!” Rachel turned away.

Lana entered the Beanery and immediately spotted Clark. She went over to the table, and sat down in front of him.

“Hey!” Clark welcomed smiling.

“Hey Clark. What did you want to talk about?” Lana asked.

“When I pick you up today, what if Nell starts asking questions?” Clark asked.

For the next couple of minutes Clark and Lana discussed what Clark, should say if Nell started a questioning session. After they finished talking Lana went to see Rachel, while Clark went to see if Pete wanted to shoot hoops.

Hey guys sorry for the long wait, but I finally got time to update. Hopefully you guys stuck with me during the wait.

Clark was nervous about picking Lana up, and it was only 5:30. He was sitting in his room waiting for the clock to strike 5:50 so he could be at Lana’s at six on the dot. Clark walked down the stairs said goodbye to his parents, got the keys to the truck, and went outside.

As Clark arrived at Lana’s house, he began thinking what if Nell answers the door? She’ll question me to death if she could. When will I tell Lana about my powers? Does she remember me having powers as a kid? Did she know I had powers back then? Clark concentrated on the getting to Lana’s house. Clark looked down at his watch it read 6:00.

“Hopefully Lana’s ready.” Clark said to himself as he knocked on the door.

“Hello Clark” Nell welcomed forcing a smile. “Lana’s not ready yet, come in”

Great I have to talk to her. Couldn’t she be out oft own or something like that? She’s done it before, why not this weekend. Clark had been dreading talking to Nell, since the morning.

“Clark, how long have you and Lana been friends?” Nell asked.

“We’ve been friends for a couple days” Clark answered. He and Lana talked about Nell asking questions about how, when, and where they met, as well as how long ago it was so Clark had answer that would be identical to Lana’s incase Nell asked her.

Before Nell could continue her questioning, Lana came down the stairs.

“Hey Clark.” Lana welcomed. She was wearing denim jeans, a white tang top, and a jacket over it. Clark was wearing dark blue jeans, and a blue shirt, and a red jacket over it.

“Hi Lana.” Clark got up and walked over to the stairs, which conveniently was close to the door.

“We should get going.” Lana suggested, she the turned to Nell and said “we’ll be back before 10:00”

“Have fun” Nell faked happiness for her niece.

“Is she like that with all your dates or just the ones she doesn’t like?” Clark asked as he opened the door for Lana.

“Thank you. Nell was starting to question you wasn’t she?” Lana asked as Clark pulled out of the driveway.

“Yeah, luckily you came before she asked questions I’m not prepared to answer. She faked happiness when we left and a smile when I arrived.” Clark said.

“Where we going for dinner?” Lana asked.

“Well, I thought we could go to a restaurant near Metropolis, it’s an Italian restaurant, after that we could go to a park. How does it sound?” Clark replied.

“Sounds good.” the rest of the ride to the restaurant was mostly quite.

When they arrived at the restaurant, they where seated immediately because of the reservations Clark made. They had Garlic Bread as appetizers, and for entrée, Clark ordered spaghetti with meatballs, while Lana had shrimp scampi with salad and bread. For dessert, both ordered cheesecake. The entire dinner they where mostly quite, both comfortable in the silence between them. Both just enjoying the others company as they eat.

After they finished and Clark paid, they walked to his car holding hands still silent. Clark had decided to take Lana to a park. The couple got out of the truck, and began walking hand in hand. Clark led Lana to a fountain, in the center of the park.

Handing her a coin, Clark suggested “Make a wish and throw it in.”

“Okay” Lana accepted the coin, and made her wish. She then turned to Clark and said “Your turn.” Clark obediently took his turn. After that, he led Lana to a bench nearby. Both where silent for a couple of moments, Clark was debating where to tell Lana about his abilities right there, or if he should wait ‘till there second date.

“Do you like the park?” Clark broke the silence.

“Yeah, it’s beautiful. Though, I wonder why you brought me here at night.” Lana responded.

“My parents brought me here once when I was 7. I don’t remember much of the trip here, but the park I remember perfectly. My Dad told me to make a wish I did. Actually the reason I remember this park is, because my wish came true, and ever since then I thought if I ever came back and made a wish it too would come true.” Clark explained. “During daytime it’s noisy, and kids are running around. I wanted to spend time with you alone, so we could talk.”

“Really? Good, I wanted to spend time alone with you to.” Lana paused “Clark, what did you wish for?”

“My wish was to have friends. When my parents brought me here, it was after the adoption was finalized because I was new in town, no kids talked to me. When we got back to Smallville, at school, I met Pete and we became friends. Then days later you and I became friends.” Clark answered smiling at her.

“I remember that, and when school started you asked me to be your girlfriend.” Lana returned his smile.

“Yeah, you said yes and the rest is history.” Clark paused. Should I tell her about my powers? Is it too soon? I shouldn’t wait it could make her mad for keeping it from her. “Lana, how would you feel if I had special abilities?” Clark asked.

“Abilities? Like what?” was Lana’s only response.

“Like if I was super strong, and faster than a bullet.” Clark said.

“I think that would be fine as long as you didn’t use them in sports to cheat or for evil purposes.” Lana smiled.

“Good, ‘cause I do have abilities.”

Clark and Lana spent some time discussing his abilities, how he acquired them and how he learned to control them. After several minutes, Clark and Lana walked back to his truck and drove to Smallville. On the way there both where silent Lana thinking about how good it felt that Clark trusted her with his secrets, and how comfortable they where with each other. Clark thinking about where he could take Lana for their second date.

“We’re here.” Clark stated. He got out of the car and opened the door for Lana.

“Are you always a gentleman?” Lana asked referring to him opening the door for her every time she got in or out of his car.

“Yes, I am.” Clark answered. Lana led him over to the door. “How about a second date?”

In response, Lana kissed Clark. Unknown to them hey where being watched by two pairs of eyes. Both pairs of eyes displease at the scene in front of them.

“Is that a yes?” Clark asked smiling.

“Yes, Clark I would love to go on a second date with you. Just tell me when.” Lana began to open the door.

“I’ll start planning as soon as possible.” Clark paused. “Lana, how exactly are we going to tell everyone about us?”

“Leave that to me, you just plan our date. Well goodnight.” Lana kissed Clark.

“Night” Clark stood in front of the door for several seconds before he remembered to get back to his truck and drive home.

Lana walked into her house to find Nell asleep on the couch. She was relived that Nell didn’t witness he kissing Clark. Lana walked up the stairs and dialed Rachel’s cell.

“It’s about time you called, I’ve been waiting for your call for half hour. How was the date? Where did he take you? Was he a gentleman? Did he kiss you? Did you enjoy it? Do you have a second date?” Rachel paused to catch her breath.

“It was amazing and he was a total gentleman, he opened the door for me to get in and out of his car and everything. We do have a second date, he’ll tell when soon. We did kiss, he’s a great kisser!! And I forgot the other questions.” Lana laughed.

“Where did he take you?” Rachel asked.

“Some Italian restaurant, I don’t remember the name.” Lana laughed again. “You said you had a plan for how to spread the new of the date. What is it?”

“Let me handle it?” Rachel asked.

“Well, it’s kind of my only option right know. Look it’s late I should see if I can get any sleep, okay?”

“Yeah, night” Rachel said.

“Night” Lana hung up, got her diary and wrote:

Dear dairy,

Today was my date with Clark!! It was amazing!! He was a true gentleman, he opened the doors for me and pulled me seat out for me. After dinner he took me to a park and we talked he really opened up to me. He told me of his only secret, at least I think it’s the only one. Anyway, we talked and we also wished on a coin we threw in the fountain there.

Before Lana could write anything else her phone rang.

“Hello?” Lana said.

“Lana, meet me at the Beanery tomorrow. Kay” Rachel said.

“Okay, I’ll meet you there. Bye” Lana and Rachel hung up. Lana finished writing in her diary, changed into her Pjs, and went to bed.

The next morning Lana entered the Beanery, and spotted Rachel and Alex talking together in a table by the window.

“Hey, guys” Lana greeted.

“Hey” Rachel and Alex simultaneously said.

“What’s up?” Lana asked sitting down next to Rachel, with Alex in front of them.

“You had a date last night with Clark Kent” Alex stated.

“Yeah, why?” Lana asked.

“I just thought I would have heard out it before it happened, at school, not after from Rachel. How come nobody knew about your date?” Alex said.

“We didn’t want word to spread about our date, so we kept it to ourselves. I told Rachel not to mention it either.” Lana said.

“Why didn’t you want people to know?” Alex continued his questioning.

“We wanted to see if the date went well before we let people know about us.” Lana explained.

“That seems like a good idea.” Alex stated.

“Especially, if you hate being the center of attention.” Rachel added.

“So, how did the date go?” Alex questioned.

“It was great! He was a real gentleman.” Lana began. “he took me to a nice restaurant, and then we went to a park. He game me a coin to make a wish into the fountain. Then we talk for a long time, and he took me home. We kissed at the doorstep.” Lana finished. She, Rachel, and Alex continued their conversation, ordered drink, and doughnuts.

After they finished, the trio began walking around. They where walking toward Alex‘s car when they saw Whitney and his buddies laughing together, they where getting out their cars. Whitney and his friends disliked Alex a lot, and one of Whitney’s friends, Brian, liked Rachel. He had asked her out, but she rejected him. The two groups didn’t get along.

“Guys, I think we should get going before they notice us.” Rachel suggested.

“Yeah, we can walk around for a while” Alex suggested.

“Okay” Lana said. The three of them managed to go in the opposite direction of Whitney and his friends, without being noticed.

Sorry about the long wait. I had lots of things to do, but I finally managed to write this update.

On Monday Serena walked into school having no idea what so ever about Lana’s date with Clark. She had been in Metropolis visiting Adam. They had agreed to give it another shot, since she had cheated on Alex with Adam over the summer. She was at her locker when she saw Clark and Lana walking hand in hand as they entered the school. She was so shocked she froze. Suddenly Stacey her best friend, since she, Rachel, and Lana weren’t talking, came up to her.

“Hey, you won’t believe what happened while you where in Metropolis.” Stacey said.

“What happened?” Serena asked curiously.

“Remember Clark Kent? Well he and Lana went on a date, can you believe it? People say they’ve been going out for weeks, with out anybody noticing. Do you think it happened.” Stacey was completely unaware that Serena stopped listing when she said ‘Clark and Lana went on a date’.

“What? When did they go on a date?” Serena finally managed.

“Saturday, nobody knows anything else. It was all very secretive.” Stacey explained. “We should get to class”

“Yeah” was all Serena managed she was deep in thought about Clark and Lana’s date.

Lana and Clark took their seats (next to each other) in their history class.

“Today, you will work with your partner. I will repeat the pairs for those who forgot” Mrs. Anderson began. “….Clark Kent and Lana Lang…. Rachel McMillan and Pete Ross, …..Chloe Sullivan and Andrew Roberts….” Mrs. Anderson continued.

Following their teachers instructions Clark and Lana paired up. They sat side by side in the back of the classroom. Both where silent at first, unsure of what to say.

Finally Lana broke the silence “what do you want to do our project on?”

The rest class went by normally, after they where dismissed Chloe walked up to Clark “How come you didn’t tell me you had a date with her? She asked nodding towards Lana.

“I didn’t know I had to tell you when I have dates, you sound like my mom” Clark replied.

“Well, as your best friend I should know. Unless my dislike of her cuts me of from knowing. Did you think I would ruin you date? Is that why you didn’t tell me?” Chloe was irritated.

“No, of course not. But we didn’t want people to know. We like our privacy, Chloe” Clark corrected.

“Clark, hardly anything goes on in Smallville that the nobody knows about, when something happens it’s everybody’s business.” Chloe said.

“Yeah. But we wanted to try to keep it a secret, we don’t like to be the center of the attention.” Clark stated.

“Clark, you’re the staring quarterback as a freshman, and Lana is the cheerleading captain. People are gonna want to know everything they can learn about you. People are gonna constantly be around you two. I’m sure by now you two are the golden couple, even though you’ve only been on one date.” Chloe said.

“I know, and Lana know to, but that’s why we didn’t want people to know.” Clark explained.

“Can we talk about this later? I have a class to get to.” Chloe walked away.

Lana entered her room, she was extremely tired from cheerleading and the exhausting day. Through out the day, it seemed as if everywhere she went she saw Serena. Lana tried to avoid talking to her, but it seemed impossible. Luckily she managed never to actually talk to her, Lana surrounded herself with people which wasn’t hard sine she was popular.

Nell was still at work, and surprisingly hadn’t said anything about the date with Clark. Lana thought she would have wanted to know everything, and specifically ask if they kissed. The day after the date they barely talked to each other and Lana doesn‘t know what to do. She was hoping that she could talk to Nell after school, but Nell wasn’t home yet and probably she wouldn’t want to talk when she did get home. Suddenly the phone rang.

“Hello?” Lana answered.

“Hey, it’s me. I wanted to ask you something” came Alex’s voice through the receiver.

“Okay, shoot” Lana said eager to be helpful, and glad he wasn’t moping.

“Okay. Do you think that because of my resent breakup that it’s to soon for me to go on date? But not rebound, like something more permanent?” Alex asked.

“I don’t know. Maybe for rebound, but for something more I’m not sure.” why the sudden change in mood? Lana wondered.

“Do you have any sort of idea? Of the appropriate time to look for something more than a transitional relationship?” Alex was clearly desperate.

“You know Alex, it would help if you told me why you want to know al of a sudden.” Lana said.

“It’s um…….”

“Spill” Lana demanded.

“It’s Rachel.” Alex confessed.

“What?!” Lana couldn’t believe what he just said. Lana began thinking if he likes her, they could have a pretty good relationship. How to get them together?

“Rachel. I guess I always like her, but thought it was nothing, then she went out with that guy, roger, so..”

“You thought you lost your shot, and went out with Serena.” Lana finished for him.

“Yeah, and I don’t blame her for cheating on me.” Alex began “I wasn’t the world’s best boyfriend. I didn’t give her much attention, I spent more time with you and Rachel than her. Even though Rachel was with roger, I still hoped if we spent more time together, that she would see as more than a friend.” Alex finished.

“Oh.” Lana paused to think “Maybe there’s something you could to for her to see you as more than a friend…….”

Nell couldn’t believe niece hadn’t said anything about her date with the boy. She saw them kissing, and new that this had been going on longer than Lana let on. Nell new Lana never kiss a boy on a first date, unless it wasn’t their first date. In hopes of getting Lana to date , what Nell considered the perfect guy, Nell had set up a plan. She issued the help of an old friend of hers, who had a very handsome son. Nell thought it was foil proof, but was not as clever as she thought.

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t been updating, I haven’t had time from school. Don’t worry I won’t abandon this fic. Today I had time to write, and wrote this small update:

Lana ran up the stairs and slammed the door shut. She pulled out her cell, and dialed Clark’s number.

“Hello?” Clark said.

“Hey, it’s me” Lana said.

“Hey, what’s up?” Clark asked.

“Um…. Can I come over?” Lana responded.

“Yeah, sure. Lana, what‘s up“ Clark asked concerned.

“I‘d rather talk about it in person.” Lana said. “Be there in 5 minutes?”

“See you then“ both hung up.

Lana walked down the stairs carefully, so Nell wouldn’t hear her. Nell was in the living room talking to someone on the phone. Lana walked into the kitchen, wrote a note for Nell telling her she would be back late, and left the house through the back door. Lana walked up the stairs of the loft, and saw Clark waiting for her. She walked up to him.

“Hey“ she said.

“Hey“ they kissed. “What‘s up?”

“Nell“ Lana began“ Nell told me that she got a job offer in New York. She told me that she‘s planning on taking it. She won’t even consider my opinion, or what this would do to my life.” Lana finished.

“What?!” Clark shouted. “She can‘t do that, can she?”

“I don‘t know what Nell can or can‘t do. Maybe I should see a lawyer. You think I should see a lawyer?” Lana asked.

“I don‘t know, maybe. It‘ll probably help if you get more information on this.” Clark said as he and Lana sat down.

“Yeah, your right. Can I stay here for some time?” Lana asked.

“Yeah“ Clark smiled.

[Lost_In_Clana]

Clark and Lana sat in the loft, Lana on the computer and Clark doing homework. Suddenly Lana’s cell rang.

“Hello?” Lana answered.

“Lana, Where are you?” Nell shouted on the other end.

“Nell, it doesn’t matter if I’m at the stables riding or anywhere else. I‘m not coming home, just because you said so. Not until I’m ready to talk calmly with you. Don‘t bother calling me again.” Lana turned her cell off and shut it.

“Have you decided what you’re going to do?” Clark asked.

“Sort of. I have to find more info on guardianship. There could be a way for me to find a new guardian.” Lana said.

“Anything I can do?” Clark asked.

“You could help me find a new guardian. It says here” motions toward laptop “that a relative, a close friend are usually to ones to gain new guardianship.” Lana sighs “It’s going to take me forever to find a new guardian.”

“Don’t worry. It’ll work out” Clark hugged her.

“Clark! Dinner’s ready!” Jonathan shouted from the bottom of the stairs.

“Coming” Clark, responded. “Want to … join us?

“I don’t want to intrude” Lana said.

“Would you rather have dinner with Nell?” Clark said well knowing the answer.

“Fine, I‘ll have dinner with you, and your parents.” Lana agreed, not wanting to talk with Nell anytime soon.

“Lets go” Clark smiled and lead Lana toward the house.

“Mom, Dad. I know this is short notice, but Lana and I where wondering if she could join us for dinner. Would that be alright?” Clark asked.

“… Of course. We’d love for you to join us.” Martha smiled.
----------- Later-----------
“The dinner with your parents was amazing. They where really nice, and welcoming, I really enjoyed it.” Lana smiled “And now I have to face Nell” Lana’s smile faded.

“My parents really liked you…. Are you going to tell Nell where you where?” Clark asked.

“No, you‘re already a problematic topic with Nell, I don‘t want things to be worst…” Lana explained.

“Are you going to tell her about looking for a new guardian?

“No, not yet. I‘ll tell her when I have more information on the subject.” Lana said. “I should get going”

“Yeah, can I walk you home?” Clark asked. Lana nodded. Clark walked Lana home, and they kissed goodbye.
