The lead singer of Motion City Soundtrack (Justin Pierre) or H.I.M. (Ville Valo) imo, I love both their voices.

I've been thinking about this question a good bit. For purely beautiful voices I would have to go with Luther Vandross (R & B singer who had a stroke and died last year) and k.d. lang (Constant Craving) His voice can melt butter and hers is so smooth and pure.

For versatility and amazing vocal ability I'd have to go with Freddy Mercury too. No one else like him. Christina Aguilera has an amazing voice although I don't always like the way she tends to overdo it.

As for a great rock & roll voice it would have to be Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Not a smooth, polished voice but perfect for rock.

Other great voices, Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake & Palmer (Lucky Man, From the Beginning); Seal (Crazy); & George Michael (Faith)

Steven Tyler of Aerosmith.

Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty (i dunno why, it just strikes a chord with me)

Sarah McLachlan has a beautifully pure voice, she makes it sound so effortless.

The lead singer of Dishwalla (J. R. Richards?) has a gorgeous voice too.

Brendon Urie of Panic at the Disco gets my vote also.

Panic! At the Disco (I Write Sins, Not Tragedies) is very cool, I love the lead singer's voice... :)

It's hard to say who has the best singing voice of all time. For me, I think it depends on the song. However, I always enjoyed the Backstreet Boys (All I Have to Give) harmonies....(guilty pleasure from 8th grade) - greatest singers ever, I don't know, but I loved their music in my youth.

John Mayer (No Such Thing) is pretty good too - don't know what I like more, his lyrics or his guitar playing, but I like him.

There are so many. I'll get back to you if I think of any more. (which I probably will)

There's a lot of great singing voices out there...I'm not sure about the best of all time, as I have not heard any where close to all of them.

The lead singer of Linkin Park, The lead singer of HIM, and the lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars are my personal favs.

Mariah Carey and her, glamourously named, split personality, Mimi. I love the song "Fourth of July" from Butterfly. It displays the beauty of her range without overdoing it with those tiresome screeches she sometimes does.

I would love to have a voice like Celine Dion. Freddie Mercury was good too, but Bryan Adams and Bono are great singers as well.

yeah you can't really go wrong with Mariah carey, she does have a very wide range, but the strange thing is I find that some of her better songs, were the ones that were never released as a single, or didn't do as well on the charts as other songs.

I agree. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few songs: "Vanishing" off the first album and "If it's over", "So blessed" and "till the end of time" from Emotions. She's a great songwriter, as well. Yeah, most of her greatest songs are about heartache and lost love. But like she said, that's something that every person can relate to, unless they're without a soul. That was before she went a little bonkers, BTW. :)

There's no doubt that Mariah Carey has a great voice. It's too bad that she sings in a style that ruins it. I thought she was great when she first came out, but sometime later she got into doing all those runs (you know where she uses 25 or 30 notes where 2 or 3 would do). I hate that s**t. Let the music speak for itself, improvise a little but let it be more pure than showboating. Then she got into that breathy phase that just ruined everything. Now I'd rather hear fingernails on a chalkboard than her. It's really such a shame.

Oh by the way, John Lennon had an awesome rock n' roll voice. He could do rockin', soft and raunchy.

I have to say Christina Aguilera that girl can sing even when she was on MMC (that's Mickey Mouse Club for the ones that don't know the best Disney show of all time) I remember listening to her when I was little and was impressed I listened to The Voice Within on headphones on my pregnant belly so my daughter could listen her voice.

Freddie Mercury! songs like Who Wants To live Forever and Bohemian Rhapsody really show cases his range and diversity, But I recommend listening to The Show Must Go On from the album Innuendo. The man is basically on his death bed and his voice is more powerful than when he was twenty! That takes soul!

Male: It's a tie. Either Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell or Freddie Mercury. They all have awesome voices in their fields.

Female: Christina Aguilera has a awesome jazz-ish voice. Also, Amy Winehouse has this cool soul-rock voice I've come to love:)

I would definitely say Christina Aguilera has THE best female voice I have ever heard. I've been a huge fan from the beginning, and still listen to her first cd sometimes, not for the content of the songs, but for her amazing voice.

People from my time, that I believe have amazing voices are, Lily Allen her voice is pretty awesome. I also think that Danny Jones from McFLY, has a beautiful voice. Everytime he sings it hust gives me chills. Also, Bethany Joy Galotti has a nice voice as well.

Oh and those girls from Girls Aloud, man, they can SING.

As for music from music back then, I think Freddy Mercury from Queen has a great voice as well as the lead singer of Styx (the original lead singer, not the new one).

Depends on the the decade, the genre. I wouldn't be able to choose my fav 'rock voice' as I like so many bands and artists, but my fav 'Pop voice' is an easy Michael Jackson.

Kelly Clarkson has one of the best voices ever. Many people don't like "My December", I thought it was great (Sober (from the end of "Bizarro") is on My December). I'm not sure if many people are gonna like her new cd, but I think it rocks!

I also think that Celine Dion and Mariah Carey are very talented singers.

I don't really know any good male singers, but Andrea Borcelli has an amazing voice.
James Morrison isn't so bad either.
