A Hero's Love, Lasts Forever.

Well, This will kinda be short, its a story I started writing weeks back, but couldnt think of what to do, but then I went back to it, and more thoughts come to mind. Near the beginning Clark has a flash back of Lana's words to him in fade. And then time kind of zooms forward 10 years... to clark regretting, what has come to pass, and wanting to leave superman, and meet with lana.

I'm very happy with how I've written so far!

Back 10 Years Ago

Lana: Lex and I have actually been spending alot of time together

Clark: You know, I kinda noticed.

Lana: Clark, it's more than that, we're seeing each other, and I thought it would be best if you heard it from me first.

Clark: Lana I know you dont wanna hear this, especially from me, but you can't trust Lex.

Lana: And I can trust you?

Clark: I just dont wanna see you get hurt,

Lana: I know you think you're being some kind of hero Clark, but the truth is, I don't need you to protect me. Clark it's over, you made that decision.

With that Lana left, and never saw Clark again, it destroyed Clark, every where he went her heard of Lana Lang and Lex Luthor's relationship, it was the talk of the town.

All it done was bring heartache to him, at one point he didn't see the point in living, that was when his good friend Chloe stepped in.

She gave him faith in those around him, she taught him everything, about life, hope, and the long journey ahead. He'll always love her, but as the sister he never had.

1 Year later

Clark left to fulfill his destiny, he was gone for 4 years, where the only people that could visit him, were his mom and Chloe at the fortress.

He spent all of his time studying the knowlege of the universe and learning new things from Jor-El, not a day went by where he didn't think of Lana and how things could have been different if he has just let her in.

Clark become superman, a hard working man by day, and a hero of the world by night. He worked for the daily planet with Chloe, and Lois.

5 Years Later

"Clark, wake up, it's late I think you should go home," said Chloe who was feeling bad for her dearest friend.

She knew what was in his heart and knew the pain he was going through.

Clark just gave a weak smile and kissed her on the cheek before making his way home, he walked into his apartment and looked around at all his prized possessions.

He then looked at a picture on his bedside table of he and Lana under what they referred to as "Their Oak Tree".

This was the one thing he'd make sure he looked at as he got up in the morning, and before he went to bed of a night, it was like looking at his future, and his hopes.

When he looked at this picture all of the world around him seemed to dissappear, as though it was just him and Lana. He had no fear, he could just be peaceful in his loneliness.

As tears began to feel his eyes, he got out his journal.

It's been ten long years since the girl of my dreams left my life,

Due to evil forces, namely Lex Luthor. I had to give up my love, for the good of mankind and to protect her. But it did her no good, I'm not sure how it happened.

But she ended up having a relationship with the evil I tried protecting her from. I don't hold it against her, afterall Lex Luthor can be pretty manipulative.

I suppose he got his evilness from his fathers old ways, but I'm lucky that I've had one Luthor on my side all these years.

Not a day goes by when I don't think of her.

The way her hair smelt, the way her dimples showed when she smiled, the way her nose crinkled, the way my heart pounded when I saw her.

I've lived a lonely life since that day, I became the superman I was always destined to be, the world's own superhero.
But I can't continue to make everyone elses life happy, and live a misserable life myself.

I've lost too much time, and used too much mental strength. Soon I will give up the cape, and give up my destiny. As I can't keep doing this to myself.

I saw her one week ago, she was in her apartment in Metropolis painting. I'm not the kind to pry on someone elses space,
but I just had to know what she was doing.

It was the weirdest thing looking in on her, she was looking out of the window, like she could see right at me. And yet it felt like she looked right through me. I found out five years ago that her relationship with Lex Luthor had ended, she saw him for the monster he was.

I know I need to speak to her, after all these years, she may hate me. But I want her to know the truth about me. I want her to know what a lie Clark Kent really is. But how can I approach her.

Should I go as Clark Kent?, or should I go as Superman?. All I need to do is see her and I'll know what to do.

"Help Superman!!!"

Clark quickly put down his journal, and speeded into his suit, and sighed. "What will the world do without me when I'm gone."

As superman speeded to the scene of the call for help, all he saw was the most beautiful thing in the world. Not needing help at all,
as there was nothing happening.

"I'm sorry miss, why did you call for me?." I asked, so many thoughts were going through my head at the time.

"Clark, I think it's about time we talked." said Lana who was glistening.

I was taken back by this, how did she find out the truth about me? had Chloe told her?, my disguise was flawless! Only somebody that was truely in love with me should be able to see every part of me. After all these years, Lana is still in love with me?.

"Lana, I, I"

"Clark, you need to be straight with me. We're getting old, It's been ten long years, and no matter how much I try to not love you, and no matter how much I try to forget you, your every where..."

"Lana, I love you every bit as much as I did when we finished. Like I once said, I've always loved you, and I always will.."

Lana felt a sudden urge over power her, she sprung her self on Clark, she started kissing him, and crying at the same time. She felt so much love rush back into her heart.

Clark was overwhelmed with emotion, he felt all his safewalls around him break down from that one single kiss, how had he managed to survive for this long without her.

"Lana, take my hand, we'll go somewhere special for this talk. And theres some things you may or may not know about me, but soon it will all be clear to you."

All Lana could do was smile as she lifted her hand out to a hero, a superhero that saved the world from time to time.

A superhero that still loved her after all this time. A superman that she doesn't know how she lived without him all this time. And what or where was this special place he was about to take her?

"Hold on tight Lana," Clark said as he began rising slowly into the air, all Lana could do was smile again. She had always known Clark was some how special, but before a couple years ago, she never knew just how special he really was.

She tried to force herself to confront him so many times, but thought he'd reject her for what she done to him.

Clark had always told her how evil Lex was, and how one day he'd fully transform. She always knew this, but the last time he said it to her, she thought he was just playing the jealous ex-boyfriend. Oh clark, why did you have to be so secretive.

As they arrived down in the caves, it brought so many memories back to Lana. "Clark, what are we doing here?. And I've never seen this room before, how'd you find it?"

Clark just gave his old charming kent smile. "It was left here for me." A look of amazement spread Lana's face as they were beamed to the the fortress.

Lana looked around the fortress in amazement, what was this place, Clark described it as special, but she would never have guessed in a million years that a place like this even existed.

"Lana, I'm from a planet called Krypton."

Clark had just told Lana of what she had already expected these past couple of years, she's seen what he can do as Superman. She remembered how the two alien beings that exited the alien ship all those years back had all of the powers Clark had.

She was breathless from the sights around her, and from what Clark had just said to her. She figured it out, but she still wasn't always sure in her own mind. Afterall he had the same powers, but what was to say he didn't just get them from the meteor rocks.

She always knew, that Clark knew, she thought there was something different about him, he even once told her he was not a meteor freak.

"Something about you, always made sense to me." said Lana smiling.

Clark just looked at Lana with stars in his eyes, only one word came into his head, he never thought he would ever say this. "Ditto."

As Lana started to pace around the place, followed closely behind by Clark. "Lana, there's one more thing you should know, and this is maybe the one reason I kept it from you all these years."

Lana took Clarks hands into hers a looked up into his eyes. "It's okay Clark, you can let me in now."

Clark gripped her hands tightly, never wanting to let go, he felt so complete. "Lana I arrived in the first meteor shower, I'm so sorry."

Lana nodded her head, she had figured this out too. She's had alot of time to think about this over the past couple of years.

"It's okay Clark. I don't blame you, and you can't blame yourself. Plus what would I have done without you? I'd be dead countless of times over." Lana told him whilst cupping his cheek with her hand.

Clark was overwhelmed, that after all of these years Lana could just accept him straight away, he didn't have to fight for it. She was just there for him.

Lana looked at Clark full with love and passion in her eyes, he saw her love for him, and it made him feel like a teenager again.

All he wanted was to pick her up and show his love for her, but it was too soon. It was around an hour ago since they spoke to each other for the first time in years.

As Clark took Lana's hands into his, he began floating in the air, with his eyes fixed on her and hers fixed on his, they stared at one another for minutes before blinking, it was like they were having a staring competition, each one not willing to break eye contact, but still. It wasn't a competition at all, they were just staring into eyes that showed love for one another.

Clark and Lana took the long flight back to Metropolis, it took them a couple of hours, in which the whole journey was spent looking into each others eyes and souls.

As Clark slowly descended to Lana's balcony, they landed. Lana and Clark entered her apartment where he quickly changed out of his suit and into his clothing. All Lana could do was murmer a low pitched wow.

"Clark, what made you decide to become Superman, and where did you get the name from? I mean, I know that you were Smallville's own personal hero all those years, but what made dedicate yourself to the world?."

Clark just looked at Lana as he smiled, "Well as for the name, remember freshman year, when I stumbled over? You asked me whether I was man or superman. And since then it just clicked, and as for becoming superman... It was what I was destined for."

Lana felt tingling going up and down her back, he chose the name superman because of her. It brought excitement to her that she helped name the worlds hero.

"So how do you decide who to be at any given time? I mean, what defines Clark Kent from Superman?."

As Clark took Lana's hands into his own again, he said words that would be branded into Lana's mind and heart for the rest of her life. "Clark Kent is who I am, Superman is what I can do."

Oooh you lucky people, I had no intentions to finishing this off until next week. But I had a new head come into my head tonight, so I just wrote this out.

I know I said this final piece will be brilliant... I just hope it is for you's.

Lana looked at Clark full with love, she was speechless. His words to her moved her in a way she never thought possible, he was so honourable, caring and compassionate.

"I need you to know Lana, I want to be with you forever now, but Lana don't get me wrong, it's not easy for me to live my life, being who I am, it will effect your life too, are you prepared for that?."

As Lana put her arms around Clark, she whispered into his ear, "Your the one good constant thing in my life Clark, whenever I've felt bad or hurt.. I've thought of you. Our love for each other is like the wind, we can't see it, but we can feel it, no matter what."

Clark and Lana stood in the same spot for hours just hugging and crying, after so long they finally had their soul mates back, and their hearts were fully restored and devoted to each other.

5 Years Later.

It's been five years since we devoted our hearts and souls to one another again, our life has been so blissful. We spend every moment we can together, when we look at each other it's as though time stops moving, everything around us freezes and it's only us two together, they way it should have always been.

I remember back 20 years ago when I layed eyes on him at school, he was so geeky with his skateboard, and yet so adorable at the same time.

But I knew from the time I saw him, no one could make me happier. I have loved Clark Kent a long time, but now I love another man too.

This other man I love is very worthy, he is a symbol of truth and justice, he is Superman. Yes I know Clark Kent is Superman, but really they are two people, one is the man I'm having a family with. The man that is always there for me, the man I married 4 years ago.

But the other is the man who belongs to the world, the man who loves everyone on this planet. A true force of good in the world, and he will never be forgotten.

I asked him five years ago, what defines them from each other, he told me Clark Kent is who he is, but Superman is what he can do.

I'm seeing it differently though. I'm seeing him as being a God from another planet, with powers he could rule the world with, really he is Superman. And Clark Kent is what he can do, he can be loyal and trustworthy, and a standup citizen of the world, he has more moral fibre than anyone I have ever known.


What other person in the world could have the powers and will that he has, and not have a God complex about themselves. I love these men with all of my heart and nothing can ever change that.

A gust of wind blew against Lana as she saw her husband standing next to her, she closed her journal and put down her pen.

"Clark, I have some news for you." Lana told him whilst smiling in a way that made Clark's knees weaken.

Clark put Lana's hands into his and smiled, "What is it hunny?."
"Take me flying and I will tell you."

As Clark scooped Lana up into his arms, he flew with her out of the window and into the sky. Lana kissed him on the cheek as she rubbed her stomach. "I'm pregnant my love."

A big smile formed on Clarks face, he had just heard the best piece of news in the world to him, how could any one person other than Lana make him this happy. Clark flew with Lana in his arms following the trail of the moon, as it lit up there faces in the nights sky.

15 Years Later

It's 5.00 am and I'm sitting in my bed next to my beautiful wife, it's been the best twenty years of my life. Lana doesn't know this but she has been my strength and courage all these years. I couldn't have done any of this without her, she inspires me to be the best I can be.

Sometime's you think you're immortal, you start to think that the people around you are too, it just takes a second to realise how wrong you are, about everything.

I will never make that mistake, if anything were to ever happen to my family, I'd never be able to forgive myself, because I love them more than life it's self.

I've realised how good it is, being Clark Kent and Superman. I've been very fortunate that my enemies have never found out my true identity, as I don't know what my life would be like now.

I've only ever loved one woman in my life, I've loved her since I was a boy, she's been the highlight of my life. Without her I am nothing.

If she hadn't have taken me back all those years ago, I don't know where I'd be now. I'm lucky in the way that I'll never have to find out.

Lana's given me the perfect child that any father could be proud off, he reminds me so much of myself as a child. His caring, and loyal to his friends, he protects his friends. He has all the powers that I do, he hasn't mastered his flying skill yet, but with my and Lana's help.

The skies the limit.

Today is the day he makes the next step in his life, they say it's the biggest step in growing up. But I believe it will be the best time of his life. Oh yes, today is the day he starts High School.

*Alarm Clock Ringing* 5:30.

As Lana stretches and wakes up, she looks at Clark the same way she did all those years ago when they first made love. "Hi."
As Clark kisses Lana on the forehead, he lovingly gazes into her eyes.

"Dad, Mom!!!! Wake up... breakfast is ready."

As Lana and Clark got out of bed and made there way down stairs and into the kitchen they looked at their son with such pride.

"Ryan, you will make your mother and I very proud one day."

As they all embrace and shed a tear of joy and love, they eat their breakfast as any normal family would. Ryan and Clark both speed out the door, as Clark makes his way to work and Ryan to school, Lana waves them off.

"What would the world be like without my Supermen....."[B]

Oh, I somehow missed that you had updated, dean. Sorry! That was a great ending - taking little peeks throguh the years like that. Cool that they had a son and named him Ryan - after Clark's friend who died, I presume.

I never understood the concept that Clark could not be both Superman AND a husband & father. Why not? It's so cool to see writers fix that. Nice writing, dean. ;)

Some of the visuals i had in my head too of the story were truly amazing!

I love the bit about Clark being kissed by Lana whilst crying! and Clarks emotional walls crumbling around him.,....this was my favourite part! i wish this was a film! lol
