CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

*FOS*

Lana laid on the same layer of ice that Clark had months ago. Her eyes began to flicker and then slowly opened. Lana looked around, amazed by her surrounding. There were nothing like she had ever seen before. It felt she was in her own personally crystal palace as her eyes sparkled when looking around. "Is this Heaven?" She whispered to herself.

"Not quite." A voice said, echoing through the Fortress.

"Who said that?" Lana asked, looking around.

"That would be me." Lana turned toward the entrance and saw this person dressed in all white clothing. Her hair was of raven black like Lana's and her eyes were as blue as anyone she's ever seen, except for Clark off course. Lara walked toward Lana, stopping in front her. Usually Lana would be frightened in this situation, but this woman didn't strike as someone who could ever hurt anyone.

"Where am I?" Was Lana's first question.

"You're in my son's Fortress of Solitude." Lara quickly answered.

'Fortress of Solitude?' Lana thought, where had she heard that before. 'Oh Yaw.' She had heard Clark said it, was this his Fortress of Solitude.

"Yes my dear, this is Kale’s Fortress of Solitude and I am his mother. My name is Lara." Lara explained.

"How did I get here?" Lana asked, then paused in shock. "I thought I was dead." Lana told her, replying the events of the previous hours.

"Yes, you were dead and I brought you here to save your life." Lara calmly told her.

"How could you do?" Lana wanted to know.

"Let's just say, when you can make a person who's been dead for many years, like myself appear before your eyes again. Then anything is possible through our power here." Lara said with a smile.

"I don't know how I could thank you." Lana said with absolute gratitude.

"You don't have to thank me, however there is something I would like for you to do me." Lara informed her.

"What is it?" Lana curiously asked, not sure what it could be.

"Go back to my son and love him. Always be there for him and never leave him, no matter what. Lead him toward his destiny." Lara told her as Lana looked on somewhat taken about.

"I can do that, but how can I lead him toward his destiny. I mean, he seems to hate what his destiny could be." Lana explained to her.

"Lana, his destiny is to become the world's greatest hero. People throughout the world will look to him as their protector, they're shinning light, showing them the way. He's going to save so many lives, but he needs someone to show him the way." Lara said, hoping Lana could understand.

"I don't know if I can do that." Lana said, looking away. Lara lightly took her chin and brought it back up to her face.

"You have the power Lana. All you need is your love, show him the way." Lara smiled one last time before walking away, but turned around one last time. "I will send you to the caves Lana, please remember what I said and tell Kale-el that I love him." Lara said, before disappearing.

*The caves*

Lana appeared back in the caves. “Well, I could use a long walk to think.” Lana said and went on her way,

*Kent House, Lana's return*

Chloe and Martha sat at the kitchen table. Martha tried to comfort Chloe over what had happened and herself. You can't really ever get over losing a daughter and Martha just lost one. "You know, I always thought of Lana as my daughter." Martha told Chloe with a small smile. "I was always pulling for Clark and Lana to be together, because I thought they deserved each other." Martha explained.

"I remember always talking to her every night before going to bed. We talked about everything and I knew if I got to talk her, get things off my chest, then it would be a good day. I don't know how I'm going get through life without my best friend." Chloe said, tears running down her cheeks. Martha reached over and hugged Chloe. Unknown to both of them, someone had walked in the back door.

"You won't have to get through life without me." A voice said from behind them. Chloe and Martha both turned around to see Lana standing behind them.

"Lana!" They both screamed at the same time and ran up to hug her.

"You're alive!" Chloe told her.

"Yes, but I won't be if you squeeze any harder." Lana said, then laugh a little when released.

"Lana, how did this happen?" Martha asked her.

"Well, let's just say I had a little help from the north, the deep north." Lana said, emphasizing the last part.

"Jor-el?" Martha asked confused.

"Jor-el? No, Lara, Clark's biological mother." Lana informed them.

"Wow." Was all Chloe could say.

"Where's Clark?" Lana asked, somewhat concerned.

"In his loft." Chloe informed her. Lana then walked out as Chloe and Martha smiled at the miracle that had just occurred.

*Clark’s Loft*

Clark sat in the corner of his loft, in deep trance of shock over what had happened. An emptiness over him that can’t be explain with words, only can be felt. A feeling that even though the sun would rise again, there would be no tomorrow for him. A trance that block out the world and foot steps walking up his loft stairs.

“Hey handsome.” Clark turned around and there she was, the love of his life.

“Lana….” He whispered and super speeded to her, lifting her up in the air.

He put her down, taking her face in his faces with tears running down his face. “How?” He asked.

“Your mother, she brought me back.” Lana told him, then Clark looked into the stars.

“Thank you, thank you so much.” Clark passionately kissed Lana and then they embraced again.

“And I’m never leaving again.” Lana said as Clark held on to her closely, keeping his eyes shut.

Awesome, SVM! Now is THAT the end? Or is there yet more to come? A fitting ending it would be. :) Just as long as we don't have to have any life force exchange, this is great! :)

Conclusion: The Future

*A week later, Clark's loft*

Clark and Lana were leaned up against the loft wall, Lana in between Clark's legs. “Can we just stay in this position forever.” Clark wondered, hoping to get a yes for an answer.

“You know…..I was thinking the same thing, but somehow I don’t think we would enjoy the smell after a couple of days.” Lana joked and Clark broke a small smile.

“I could live with it….” Clark admitted.

“Mmmm, so could I.” Lana snuggled into Clark some more.

“Lana….” Clark said and Lana looked up him with a curious to serious type look.

“What is it?” She asked.

“What did my mom….I mean what did Lara say to you, when she brought you back.” Clark needed to know.

“She told me that I was going to help you toward you destiny.” Lana informed him and Clark looked away for a second skeptically.

“My destiny?” Clark sighed and Lana took his hand, putting it up to her face.

“Is with me.” Lana warmly told him.

“But what about everything that Jor-el said?” Clark questioned.

“Whatever he said, whatever he wants, is for to do what you’re meant for.” Lana said calmly.

“Which is what?” Clark quickly responded.

“To save a lot of lives, just like you’ve done for everyone in Smallville.” Lana told him.

“What if I can’t be what they expect me to be?” Clark questioned himself.

“All they expect of you Clark, is what any parent would expect. For you to do your best and they know you will.” Lana paused and gave him a small kiss. “I know you will.” Lana reassured him.

“But what about the life you always wanted? What about having a family and just being normal?” Clark wanted to know.

“The life I’ve always wanted is with you, everyone thing else is just icing on the cake.” Lana then took his face into her hands. “Clark, you’re not just mine anymore, you’re the world’s. I’m just the lucky girl you happen to love.” Lana then kissed him deeply.

“I just want to be there for you and maybe for our future kids.” Clark confessed.

“You will be, just not all the time and I accept that. I’d rather spend one minute with you, then days with anyone else in the world.” Lana sincerity told him.

“Are you sure this what you want?” Clark asked again, still apprehensive.

“It’s what I’ve always wanted.” Lana quickly retorted.

“I guess I better go see Jor-el then.” Clark nodded, acceptingly.

“Just be open Clark.” Lana said, trying to calm him.

“I’ll try to be.” Clark then paused. “I actually feel a little better about leaving knowing Lex is behind bars.” Clark said with satisfaction.

“And with all we have on him, he should be there for a long time.” Lana returned his satisfaction, Lana then began again. “So, there’s something else that is bothering me.” Lana said, looking up to him.

“What’s that?” Clark asked, leaning down to Lana’s level.

“What all of a sudden made you change your mind about us?” Lana curiously wanted to know.

“Well, my biological mother showed me the light.” Clark told her with a smile.

“Good, I guess we owe her a lot.” Lana said as Clark nodded with approval.

“Yes we do.” Clark said, before pausing to begin again. “So where do we go from here?” Clark thought he needed to ask.

“Well, now we live happily ever after.” Lana then leaned in as they kissed passionately.
