Do you have any secrets in solving some of the worlds commonest(and almost harmless) illness that you wouldn't mind sharing. For example your secret full proof plan in curing the common cold, or sore throats, or stomach aches, or preventing head aces, curing a stye, etc...

(Remember this is just for common/minor/harmless illness, nothing big. None of the information given should be taken as 100% true, or effective. You should consult a doctor at all time, this thread is just to help you in the meantime, or to engage in a healthy medical debate. )

I'll start it. My grandmother used to always tell us to eat an apple before going to bed to prevent or even cure stomach aches. My mother used to tell my little brother(after getting a stye) to go ask the neighbours and ask for bread, because she claims back at home they believed that a stye originated from a beggar, weird I know. when i was young people used to always tell me to place toothpaste on minor burns...for pain relief. As for bee stings, garlic should work fine according to my mother.

There was on that I learned while playing hockey. Push in the fatty part of your thumb (like, the thumb muscle) you should feel a node or something and it should hurt a bit. well supposedly it releases something into your blood that helps prevent colds.
not sure how well works, but I don't get THAT many colds, only a few a year (but I think it's because I had pneumonia when I was younger).
for a stye I've heard just rubbing a gold ring on it works (any heavy metal)

for bee stings, mud works fine :P
