Chloe and Clark were making out, and then the phone rings and it was Lex.
But seriously...any male in that situation would have let the voice mail pick up.

Very Matrix like, I thought. Clark = Neo, Neo = Superman.
I got the impression he knew it was for him.

Doesn't Clark have a cellphone ...come on the girl is laying on the line here..the world is ending and he's worried about the phone. Did he even like the kiss because they had a whole empty office to get busy. Bad move Clark..now Chloe is getting felt up by 1000 maniacs:p

Hey, I am serious. To me the phone booth had several layers of meaning. First, the obvious Superman reference where Clark enters the booth as himself and exits as Superman. Second, the Matrix had a similar theme where Neo entered the phone booth as himself as exited as a sort of "Super Neo" when he flew at the end of the movie. Having Clark answer the call is a nod to the Matrix and also completes the circle. I thought was obvious.
All I can say the DVD set better have a commentary on this episode or I'll....I'lll....smash a phone over the TPTB's heads. :p

My bad, I didn't mean it in a rude way. In fact, I agree with you completely. Sorry if it sounded offensive.

Are you kidding? It's hard to offend me. I didn't mean to sound so serious; I thought what you said was funny. :)

One (admittedly hot) kiss doesn't equal making out. :P
